Great location, Easy transit

The hotel is in the base of Pyrmont, less than five minutes walk from Darling Harbour (cut through the car park slightly towards the bottom of the hill). The light rail and bus lines are also within five minutes walk. Breakfast in the onsite restaurant are phenomenal, and it’s worth trying once even if not included.

A lovely building with character and charm, really enjoyed the loft room. This hotel is in great location close to parking, the train and a short walk to the harbour. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

My only concern was that there were not really any places dedicated to put suitcases in the room. We had to put them on the floor which was a bit inconvenient, but would not stop me from staying there again - a minor inconvenience.

Nice staff. Great location for events at Darling Harbour. Clean. Compact rooms. 2 criticism: There is a lot of water wasted while you wait 5 to 7 minutes for hot water to come through. We read this in other reviews on Google and those reviews were accurate. Air conditioning does not work. It was quite cold all night. If I didn’t have my heater husband with me, I would’ve had to go and get extra blankets.

I have stayed at this property on two occasions. It is extremely clean and walking distance to ICC and light rail. Parking is available across the road in a parking station. Breakfast and coffee were good. Staff were polite and friendly. Only drawback was the air conditioning which despite supposedly being individually controlled in each room did not work properly and was a bit warm even after bringing this to the attention of staff.

Conveniently located for Darling Harbour area, we had a good sized, stylish room with a great bathroom. The bed was very large with best pillows I’ve experienced in a hotel for some time. The hotel was quiet and all the staff were welcoming and helpful. The only down side was the complete lack of view from our top floor room - it was just walls of adjacent buildings. However, I suspect there was little to see (a car park and other hotels) in the immediate vicinity.

Convenient location

The room was very compact and having stayed at this hotel on arrival and departure from Sydney with several suitcases I have never had such a small room. Mr Cameron the front office manager was very helpful and accommodating in giving us a significant late check out. His attitude to my comments regarding the room will encourage me to return.

I had a great stay at Woolstore 1888 in Sydney. The hotel has a charming blend of historic character and modern comfort, making it a fantastic place to stay. The rooms were well-designed, clean, and cozy, providing a relaxing atmosphere after a long day of exploring the city.

I’ll start with the positives: the room was fairly nice, the toiletries were good quality and we liked having dressing gowns.
Now on to the negatives. This “5 star” hotel had some of the worst service I’ve experienced. We paid to have breakfast each day when we booked, but were very disappointed to find we just had a choice of 3 items (0 if you’re vegan, 2 if you’re vegetarian). It needs to be much clearer upon booking what the breakfast options are as we would never have added it on if we’d known how limited it would be. On the first morning we waited 45 minutes to receive 1 muesli and 1 eggs with toast. Another day we were twice brought out the wrong thing. On our third night we went to the bar for a pre-dinner drink and ordered one g&t and one whisky sour. The whisky sour was brought out 15 minutes after the first drink with no word of an apology. We were treated to the bar manager and chef swearing about another member of staff in full earshot of us though (Camilla, sorry girl!). No one greeted you when you came into the hotel after being out for the day, though reception was always manned and the lobby always quiet. We reported that the fan in our bathroom was broken and no one ever came to look at it.
The bathroom is a wet room without a shower door/curtain so the whole room gets very wet including the towel rail.
I would not recommend this hotel unless you’re going to the conference centre, the area really isn’t great for tourists.
We won’t be back.

Changed for the Worse

The Woolstore has changed owners and what was once a pleasant place for us to stay turned into a very poor venue. We were given a room on the first floor (which I believe was not the queen room we paid for) and as it was situated right above the speakers for the non functioning restaurant sleep was next to impossible.
When checking out this issue was reported to staff who explained it in terms of the change of ownership, a most unsatisfactory response. At the time we hadn’t checked the receipt to discover that we had been downgraded, we will pursue this via a separate email to the management.
Given this experience we will look for alternative accommodation options when we travel to Sydney in the future.

Everything felt a bit grubby and our bathroom tap was loose, also some of the TV channels didn’t work and there was no option to cast/stream. Plus as the chain is now owned by Accor, the free mini bar is soft drinks only, despite the price of the room being the same. Overall a little disappointed.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, the bed was extremely comfortable and what a delightful surprise to be offered free soft drinks and bottled water in the mini bar along with courtesy snacks.
The location is superb to access darling harbour and parking was a breeze with a a parking station right across the street.
Honestly I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
Solid 10/10. We’ll definitely be back.

This is a great hotel especially if you enjoy heritage buildings being converted into hotels. In a great area of central Sydney. The room was a little squeezy but the bathroom was plenty big enough (beware, though, that if you don't like getting your hair wet, the shower is one of those overhead simulated rainforest arrangements with no separate shower wand). The bed was comfortable, breakfast superb (excellent coffee) and really the hotel ticks all the boxes for a single traveller.
