The room was clean, but the original room had no way to open a window. After three days with nothing but air-conditioning my wife and I were getting very sick. When I asked the hotel, they moved us into a much nicer room with a balcony and windows that opened. It was fantastic. The location was very good. The bus service was excellent.

I choose the hotel based on price and location. I was happy with my choice. Its a quick walk from Kings Cross Station, theres plenty of eating options nearby, and a shortish walk to the Botantic Gardens. My self contained room had full amenities, including air conditioning and door security, but its an older hotel. I appreciated the help from staff with luggage on stairs and with luggage storage.

Your website really needs to corrected. No swimming pool, no wheelchair access and no parking, unless you walk a distance. It also highlights a lift that you can barely get the wheelchair in and 1 person.
I choice this Motel for the parking, wheelchair access and the location only to be disappointed. My father who has limited eye sight found a condom wrapper near the bed. The room smelt of mold so we had to have the windows open the whole time which then caused the problems with the noise. I will never stay there again. The staff where nice and tried to accommodate us but the mold, access to manoeuvre around and breath was extremely poor.

Considering this hotel is in a great location and the staff are good i felt the room we had was not upto the standards I expected . The carpet looked like it was not vacuumed, one comforter had blood stains, and the fan in the bathroom think the owners need to upgrade big time
This is not a criticism but something to consider to ensure

Staff were friendly, very helpful and attentive.
The experience surpassed expectations hence the rating provided.
I was unsure of the location of the hotel, but the local amenities were great, and transport links fantastic!
A walk to circular quay, via the Botanical Gardens, takes 30 minutes, or the regular (311) bus took 30 minutes but with minimal exertion! It is easy to walk to the local rail station or catch a bus to central station, both very economical!
A local Saturday market, cafe’s and bars locally, and a local ‘Woolworths’ for snack’s, fruit and drinks, or a full mealtime shop if wanted (great for preparing picnics for planned day trips etc.)

I was surprised how tiny room was. It was very hot and quilt was not needed, but there was no place to put it, except the floor. Should rooms this size be the rooms to sell???
Ps. I’ve been stopping in hotels etc. all over the world, but this one was the smallest.
There is a saying “you couldn’t swing the cat”…

All of the above… Plus a very unhelpful staff .. The place is dirty and smells terrible .. Not even the lobby was pleasant..

DO NOT STAY HERE , really rude and overpriced, the pictures are NOT what they said. You have to walked uphill 15 mins to see the ocean

Room was basic but acceptable. Staff were helpful. We hope that they fix the leaky tap in the basin as wasting water is a serious issue in a dry and heating continent. Also could improve other sustainability issues and not have individual shampoo etc in plastic bottles. And window to a small roof area didn't lock.

Room was in very bad shape, carpet was dirty, damaged, fridge cabinet was also damaged, all furniture were sticky from, under the bed was garbage from previous guests - empty bottle, wrapping paper from snacks, bathroom tub was not clean , this room looks like last time was painted and decorated in 70-is or lates maybe 80-is. Tea kettle was dirty inside and l need to washed before l could use it.
The price for the room was way too hight for what l get.
The only thing about this hotel was good location and reception people. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even for less money to anybody.

Our second floor room was spacious, clean and functional. It was quiet at night and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very helpful in every way. While this hotel does not provide daily room service, the desk staff were very happy to provide us with extra shampoo, clean towels, etc. Generally a very pleasant stay.

This is a no-frills hotel, but it is neat and very clean -- especially the bathroom -- and the staff are pleasant and very helpful and responsive. For me, the location was ideal: a 15-minute walk to the the Art Gallery of New South Wales on the edge of the Royal Botanic Garden, and then a 20-minute -- give or take -- stroll through any of the many pathways down to the Opera House and the harbor on the opposite side of the Garden. The adjacent promenade is perfect for morning coffee while you plot your site-seeing for the day.

The staff were great - friendly and polite. The room was pleasant, with a great view, and, while it had seen better days, was clean and well presented with a comfortable bed. I saw some reviews commenting on noise, we were staying on a Saturday night and noise wasn't an issue for us. I would book here again.

Staff were helpful and kind, location good and fantastic view from room and was nice and quiet. However the extractor fan in the bathroom was faulty and made so much noise we could not have it on at night, the remote for the tv had mouldy batteries in it so did not work. Cleaning was poor, the skirting board to carpet join were not hoovered in the room or corridors, the surfaces were not properly cleaned. The shower fitting was taped together. The table was very wobbly and the drawer in one of the bedsite Cabinets did not close. One of the plillows was disintigrating inside. The tv recrption was bad and the curtains poorly hung. The extractor fan and shower fitting were fixed quickly once we had notified them of the problem but we could not understand how these had not been noticed by the cleaners and sorted before. We have stayed in UK Devere hotels before and booked this one on the strengh of the UK standards.

The rooms and corrodors seemed uncared for, not cosy or comfortable

Bathroom is in need of an update, mouldy grout in shower, 4 resident spiders on shower ceiling corners amongst the spiderwebs, obviously been there for quite some time!
Great location, Reno is needed!
Comfortable bed, clean linen, staff seemed indifferent not much conversation there, I booked 2 rooms which they gave us 2 different floors when asked to change to same floor they said there was nothing else available, we booked on 17 Oct. for 3rd to 5 th Dec.
I would think if you are booking multiple rooms that they would be on same floor!

While the hotel is on the older side it was okay. Close to the train station and food. We were given a free room upgrade on arrival. Staff were friendly and helpful. A little more attention to the cleanliness would be a good idea. But overall not too bad.

There was a crack pipe in the room. When I woke up in the morning there were little blood spots all over the Duvet from what looked like intravenous drug use. It looked as those someone had access to the room and was using it for a variety of drugs.

Not wanting to cause a fuss I asked for a 1 hr late check out as i had had an awful nights sleep.i was told quite gleefully that th we hotel was busy like that was rare and they wouldn't accommodate my request so I had to explain exactly why my sleep was stay rather was awful. They just turned it back on me and accused me of not telling them earlier and begrudgingly granted in extra hour in their grubby little Hotel

Rooms weren’t very clean. Hasn’t been touched since built I imagine so could do with some TLC. The tap or pipes in the room or outside would make very loud noises all night so could not sleep. Used bathroom on lvl 5 when checking out and they were filthy and no soap. Best view from that bathroom though which seems a waste… 2 stars for location and price.

The hotel is very old, smelly bathroom with yellowing toilet seat, old furniture, rusted fridge, spots on the walls. No everyday room cleaning. The only good thing about this hotel its location. It is relatively close to sightseeing places. Please avoid it, unless there is no other choice.

I stayed at the DeVere Hotel for eight days and found the location as a great asset for my needs. It was a short walk to the subway and enjoyable walk also. The only concern with the hotel was that they do not come in and clean your room on daily basis. I picked the hotel because it was 30 minute walk from the Sydney Opera House.

I only stayed here for one night as my flight arrived too late for me to check in to my previously booked hotel. Check in was pleasant and helpful and the room was a nice size. I didn't have time to look at the facilities or nearby area as checkout was 10 and I was suffering from jet lag! The shower was good though and most welcome.

This hotel is great value for money. As a solo traveller I felt safe and the staff were very friendly. It is not fancy but had all the amenities I needed and was very well situated with lot of nearby restaurants and cafes. If you don't mind walking you can definitely get to the harbour by foot or there is a bus stop across the street. I would stay again.

This s a great place to stay in Sydney. Close to Kings Cross railway station with a turn up and go train service, very well priced, in a now gentrified street and area full of great food and interesting shops. I love it.
