Title: Overpriced and Misleading
Paid $2,000 for two nights and traveled from California, only to be moved to a secondary building behind the main hotel because they overbooked for the holiday. My \"coastal\" getaway turned into a view of a construction site in a conference center annex. No proactive communication from the staff regarding the room change. If you are looking for the flagship \"Grand Hotel\" experience, be wary—they may tuck you away in the back for the same premium price.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, modern, and spacious even in the basic king room. Service was spectacular. The valet was terrific. The beach service was also amazing. A definite pleasure to stay there. Breakfast that was included with the hotel stay was alsoi very complete.

Wonderful stay at this well located resort. I am from North America so had no idea what to expect. My check-in was flawless. A wonderful gal who studied at McGill in Canada took care of me. It was wonderful to hear a friendly Canadian voice. The breakfast was the best that I had in 15 days of travel in S America. The pool was beautiful. Rooms were spacious and 10/10 clean. The amenities for children are incredible. Highly recommend! P.S. I tried the rooftop restaurant for dinner but after I was seated no one came to my table for 15min to greet me or offer me a drink so I left and ate at the hotel lobby bar - great service there!

There were remodeling an área of the hotel so this was a concern in the beginning, but they had it under control. Hotel is very elegant, clean and convenient. A little to expensive . Great Spa and facilities.

This Hotel Snob was very impressed

The only downside was going during the offseason and the nightly rooftop bar was only open Thursday through Sunday, besides that the hotel staff truly lived up to its reputation of being a premium hotel. Everything from the from desk staff, the daily cleaning service, the concierge and the bartender were top notch.

The hotel, the location and the proximity to the beach were excellent. But the one thing that stood out was Mitchel, the concierge, he was super helpful, very proactive and always checking with us to ensure all was going ok. We got some really great suggestions on tours, restaurants, shopping. One in our group was a vegan and Mitchel suggest this vegan place called Oli, we all loved it!. Mitchel, you were fantastic!

Amazing stay

Such a great hotel!
The hotel has a great location. In Punta, you need a car anyhow, but this hotel is kind of central distance to all.
Lovely room. Spacious with a great window, our room with a view of the ocean. Comfortable king size bed.
Beach service.
Great breakfast.
Lovely indoor swimming pool and gym club.
We borrowed mountain bikes and rode 21k one of the mornings.
Overall a complete 5 star hotel.
Would definitely return to this hotel if I come back to Punta!

This hotel does not represent a five star hotel. Upon arrival there was a situation at check in which prompted my desire to speak to the manager. The assistant asked the manger over the phone to come and meet me personally at my request. The manager had the excuse of a “zoom” meeting, for which I asked to please contact me immediately. For two days not one attempt to contact me and resolve the issue. I have stayed at several 5 stars hotels in Punta del Este and Montevideo and have never seen a manager that cares so little for its costumers. It seems to be a money-hungry system where you feel just like a number. The manager Gabriel should get out of his office and provide its staff members better training in costumer service, and more importantly, use a little of personal “touch” to handle certain situations rather than staying behind a desk. Staff seems upset, not friendly, all around the property, except for vallet boys upfront. I will not return to this hotel in the future, and recommend Expedia to remove it advertising it as a 5 start hotel. Hence the huge discount promotions you see lately. You can feel it. It is a mediocre 3 star hotel level. They lack costumer service training and professionalism. It does not represent a good experience to a future traveler that wish to receive outstanding service. It looks old, outdated and not very convenient. Construction site right next to the left side of the hotel makes it unbearable to relax with the noise level.

We asked the concierge to make a reservation at Casa Pueblo. They were for two days telling that \"they are not answering us\". But they never gave us a feedback about that. We had to ask about it every time. When I saw that that woul not go anywhere, I decided to get a phone number and make the reservation by myself. It was literally 15 minutes for me to get it done ( by whatsapp ). If ai knew that, I would never have asked the concierge.

Another day, there was a big thunderstorm. When i arrived at the room, there was a leak coming from the window, that created a big mess on the carpet floor, adding that part of the dry wall revestment was falling. I personally came to the front desk to complain about that. They simply told \"thank you\" but didnt even send a maintenance person to check about that. So I slept with a pretty bad smell in my room.

Next day, the cleaners were in the room. When I got back, i simply saw the bad made, but the dry wall pieces were still on the floor.

Nobody ever asked about that, even during checkout.

Friendly staff and nice hotel. Staff made special efforts for a birthday without even being told-only based on the registration. Front desk was very helpful in making reservations and remembered to update us without having to be asked. They also remembered our language preferences. Food and drinks were high quality. Gorgeous views of the water. Overall worth the price and I would book again.

Minor inconveniences: The 50% spa discount advertised here only applies to one item which they don’t tell you unless asked and the spa itself is somewhat lackluster and doesn’t give an immersive experience-it is more transactional. The location is good but slightly isolated from walking to dinner places vs other closer hotels with similar accommodations.

Carpeting amd lighting appliances in this 5 star hotel is not up to standard. Due to Covid this hotel has just reopened but stains on carpeting in the rooms, oxidized lamp shades and wall paper lifting is not a standard for a 5 star hotel. Apart from that the service was great

The worst is the absolutely impersonal experience
A property that cares mostly about long time customers
Nothing to remember about the experience; staff barely says “hi” and not a single staff member asked “How is your stay? Everything ok ?”
Definitely not 5 stars, and not geared towards international crowds
If you are one of the old time customers forget about going to this property

The details of the decoration are remarkable. Every corner is used as a show of good taste. The lamps, the chairs, the coffee tables, the paintings, etc, By far one of the finest hotels I have ever been and I have been in many in my long live. Great stay! Would visit again. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Every room has a view of the ocean. The bathrooms are large have a separate Jacuzzi tub from the shower. There are activities scheduled by the hotel. Beach towels or Friday at the beach club. Breakfast was outstanding.

Not a 5 star hotel: unacceptable service

Located next to the beach with their own beach club, which is probably the best part of the hotel. We had several issues, including but not limited to extremly slow cleaning of the room even when telling them when to come, nobody answering for 30 minutes plus when asking for room service or a dental kit. The property is not in good condition to be so new. Some days the bathroom was smelling so much that we couldnt go in there.

The breakfast is not very nice, 2/5 maximum. They offered us free lunch and drinks as compensation for their mistakes and poor service, which was a nice gesture.

They gave me the worst room available! On top of the garage entrance, WITH A BROKEN WINDOW!!!! (See attached photo) when I ask to change to a different room, I was told \"NO\" . I heard that the people are obnoxious in Punta de Este, I thought it was the snobby tourist, but it's actually the hotel staff!!!!

Wonderful hotel and location. Walk from hotel across street to beach where hotel has restaurant and they provide umbrellas and towels for the beach. Beach is windy though. We were told there is another beach that is less windy. Also enjoyed going downtown for dinner where we were lucky to catch a carnival parade. So authentic and fun to see!

Not the ocean view I paid for, very noisy rooms

I reserved and paid for Ocean View and they gave me parking lot view. I requested connecting rooms through Expedia and at the reception they said they didn't receive the message from Expedia. In the room we could hear the noise from the reception and the constant beep from some walkie talkies the staff uses.

The Grand Hotel Punta Del Este is outstanding. We had an oceanfront room for our nine night stay. The panoramic view of the ocean and beach were amazing. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was extensive, including hot, made to order dishes from the kitchen. The amenities are first class. This is the best choice for Punta Del Este.

Great ocean front hotel

We stayed for one night on a very busy weekend (hotel was sold out). Hotel staff did a great job handling our check-in and check-out. We had one ocean and two garden-view rooms. All of them were very comfortable, clean and spacious. Very good breakfast buffet. Highly recommend this hotel for families or couples.

Very nice hotel with all that you need excellent facilities.
Sound proof rooms and a great bed for a great night sleep. Away from the Punta so will need a car or a big walk if you like to explore. You only have the coast across the road. No shops, restaurants, Etc. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice plus a selection of items cooked on demand.

Beautiful surprise

New hotel with world class service in front of La Brava beach. The food at its \"Lighthouse\" restaurant is great and the buffet breakfast is excellent too.
Although the gym opens at 7am I asked if they could open at 6am for an early beginning, and they were very accommodating, putting no problems at all.
I enjoyed my short stay and I hope to return soon!

Near the beach in a comfortable location

This is a fairly new hotel across from the beach in a comfortable and upscale neighborhood with living towers around. The Trump Tower is a neighbor and under construction. The service and location are good and secure. The room was clean and things worked. The spa was in good condition but the sauna was not functioning. The location requires either a local bus or taxi to town and there are some local restaurants requiring a 20 minute walk. Overall the hotel is good and would stay again and way priced appropriately for the location and condition.
