The hotel is in an excellent location, the tram runs past outside but no other traffic. The staff were lovely and very helpful. I would call it a rather boutique hotel… My room on the 6th floor was great, nice and spacious and pretty comfortable with a fridge and kettle. There was underfloor heating which couldn’t be controlled and an AC unit that wasn’t operating for AC as I stayed in March. The room was very hot and therefore windows had to be fully open for some ventilation. Unfortunately, through no fault of the hotel, there were some building renovations being undertaken next door which were very noisy between 08:30 and 19:00 which is fine if you’re out at these times.
Breakfast was okay but was complimentary so very welcome. Attached restaurant had great variety and as throughout, very friendly and attentive staff. Overall, I had a lovely stay.

A group of us booked this hotel for five nights, each having a separate room. Most people had minor issues with their rooms. In mine, the shower had some hair and hairband elastic in it, it was dusty on the floors and the hair dryer did not work. The radiator was on full all the time and I could not turn it off so slept with the windows open. Also at the time of writing this (11/3/26) there is major building work going on nextdoor and they are drilling from 8.30am until 5pm - this of course is not the fault of the hotel.
The hotel is very central and convenient for the train and only a short walk to the ferry terminals. The staff were friendly and chatty.

Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. Hotel location is excellent for exploring the Old Istanbul (Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, etc.) Everything is at most 10 minute walk from the hotel. Rooms are not super new but modern, renovated recently and clean. Price is perfecr for all things considered. Highly recommend.

The service is outstanding. Samir at the front desk is amazingly helpful and delightful. The bell staff is also helpful. The team at the restaurant- also amazing.
We planned to eat at a different restaurant our last night, but at the last minute decided to stay at the restaurant attached to the hotel. It was not a mistake. The staff makes everything so wonderful, and the food was truly exceptional.

Stayed here for a second time and it was as good as previous stay. Location is spot on - walkable to all the sights. The staff are lovely and helpful. The restaurant is great we have eaten here three times now and have had great meals- the restaurant staff are good and a lot of fun! The hotel is clean, its easy to find - a good choice if wanting to stay in the old part of beautiful Istanbul.

City Break in Istanbul

Our stay was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly day and night. Nothing wax too much trouble for them. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting many of the wonderful locations that Istanbul has to offer.

Hotel is ok, but not great.

Hotel is ok, but not great. The rate was a good value. Small room. Main issue was that the A/C was not working, and although it was not necessary to have the A/C, the actual split a/c unit was making a loud noise all night long (even though it was off and not cooling). Really annoying. Staff could not help with this issue, although they tried. Kept me from having a good night of rest.

The stay with the hotel was pleasant, they changed my room upon my request. Salim and Irfan and the other staff were very friendly. Especially Salim , I had problem with the safety box, they came and fixed it immediately. Very centrally located and we could walk to water and many tourist areas.

We were a group of 19. The rooms were all ready for us when we checked in. There were no issues with the rooms. The staff were lovely. The main thing for us was cleanliness and the rooms were all nice and clean.

The breakfast was very limited and wasn’t great. I would say it is is a basic breakfast.

Generally staff ok except one particular reception staff who was most sourpuss when we did not use any taxi service he offered. We had booked another hotel for our extended stay!

I like this hotel. The location is perfect , minutes from the most popular places. The breakfast was very good . But the best of everything was the service. At the reception they make you feel like you are the most important guest. Something like you are visiting friends. I definitely will recommend this hotel to anyone.

The property is located very close to the historical sites so this really helps if your not a walker.

This hotel is walking distance from key tourist sites (5 minutes to palace and 8 minutes to Hagia Sofia). The breakfast is ok, the bathroom is clean. The walls are a bit thin being able to hear what is going on outside, but after a full day of walking, easy to fall asleep. Oh yeah, the area is nice with a bunch of restaurants and shops on the street.

This hotel is in a great location - better than I realised when I booked. Within a few minutes walk of Hagia Sofia, great restaurants and the waterfront. And for anyone who doesn’t want the walk, it’s right on the tram line. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and thank goodness it had air conditioning that actually works and you feel it cooling you. I was a little disappointed that breakfast was rather disorganised... we had to ask for crockery and cutlery, along with other guests... and the food selection wasn’t really of the standard I’ve come to expect at a Best Western. Overall though, I was happy and would go back.

Best Western Empire Palance and Olympic Hotel

They claimed not to have a room for us and pushed us to an inferior Hotel called Olympic Hotel. When we questioned them the owner was rude and asked us to call Hotel.com and get our refund. Given it was late at night we accepted but Olympic Hotel was really not even a 2 star!

Arrived in the hotel after making the reservation through Expedia. My Trip Advisor search showed the hotel has free parking but when I got to the hotel I informed otherwise. When I arrived in the hotel late at night, staff Arif and Zakaria were kind to locate an otopark nearby and advised they will mention my parking concern to the manager. The staff of the day shift, Suleyman and Abdallah were equally helpful. So thanks to all for the great customer service during my stay at the hotel.

The hotel is a great choice for location and helpful staff especially if you are tourists. The restaurant choices are very tasty and well prepared.

We booked the hotel due to its proximity to train station, variety of local restaurants and its ideal location for sightseeing.
Mr. Sulaiman was very kind to check us in early morning upon our arrival. However, the rooms are not at all as shown in the pictures. Someone needs to check the sq. meters of the rooms as advertised on their site. The room are really small. This shortcoming is made up by the pleasant personalities of the staff. They are always willing to help cheerfully. Overall our stay of 5 days was a pleasant one.

- don't be fooled by the pictures they have on expedia or any web site.. this is a small outfit, the same size as Comfortable INN as in U.S
- Hotel staff just want to sell u the tour packages, once u decline it, they don't treat u as hotel guest anymore.
they don't greet u when u in/out the hotel and u are completely transparent to them.
- the room is small, and the bed is worst one we experience in our 18 days travel in Europe.
- breakfast is ok, but definitely not 4 stars, if u count the breakfast table and chair are sticky.
- elevator is under repair in the morning, hence we have to climb up/down for 5 stories.
- safe is not working, and overall room looks kind of dark and aged. however, bathroom is clean and pleasant.

The Best Western Empire in Sirkeci is very clean, wonderfully close to the Tramway, Eminonu ferry port, Sirkeci train station (and Marmaray) and all the sites in Sultanahmet. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was decent, but not great. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was very good, and the radiators in the room were functional and well placed (even one in the bathroom to warm towels). There was a bit of a draft from the floor near one of the windows, but really not a problem. We got a good price through Expedia, and it was well worth it.

Better than I thought.

When we arrived, the receptionist told us the hotel was under renovations and our room was not available, so we'd be taken to another Best Western just for that night. While not what we expected, it worked OK. After breakfast the following day they provided transfer back to the original place.

The rest of the stay was pretty good. No complains at all. And better than we thought based on previous reviews.

Just 50 metres from the Gulhane tramway station,and very close to Topkapı Palace and Aya Sofia;perfect location. Staff helpful (the hotel has 4 stars, but staff deserves 5 stars).Room was very clean, silent,king size bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with good panorama of street. Brilliant concierge and location

Me and my brother stayed in the best western empire palace hotel for a week. We had a wonderful stay especially thanks to the reception managers Mustafa and Cengiz who went out of their way to be helpful. Location of hotel is excellent. Only con was the shower, the water pressure was too low.

Disappointing experience for honeymooners

It was our honey moon and the water cut regularly. The silver bracelet of my wife was stolen from the room and the hotel staff didn't help at all. They simply said we don't know how it was lost.

Right in the middle of what you want to see!

Right in the middle of where you want to be. A 5 minute walk from the grounds of the Topkapi Palace, 10m to the seafront for ferries, plenty of tourist shops and eateries within a few minutes walk. Breakfast was a buffet which was fine, room (104) was on the first floor and suffered from street noise- which is not a bad thing as its not cars- voices and ocasional tram. The tram stop is less than 5 minutes away on the same street.
Staff - espacially the manager couldn't have been more helpful and gave me the right times to be collected for the Day long tour I'd booked as well as the Taxi pick up for the airport.
Wifi was easy to connect and fast also.

This was our second visit to this hotel. When the owner, Alihan, asked us how everything was, I replied that the last time we had a better, roomier room, but that all was well. Both he and the customer relations manager, Neda, insisted we accept a change to a better room. While we were gone they moved all our luggage to a suite on the 6th floor. This is an example of going beyond what is expected. The breakfast room provided us with a huge array of hot and cold foods. The staff was multilingual and congenial to all. When it was time to depart, they arranged a private shuttle to the airport. Great place to stay!

My wife and I stayed 3 days in this hotel and we are happy that we selected this hotel. The hotel (and the room) is a bit smaller in size than it appears in the photograph. Everything else was just perfect. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace and Spice Bazaar. Other attractions like Grand bazaar, Galata Tower, Archaeology Museum etc are also close by. Tram station is less than a minute's walk. All the staffs speak English, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned everyday. Breakfast was plentiful in terms of options and quantity.

Comfortable and clean but not much more. Everything worked. I booked it because of the location and because of the roof terrace which was not open at all despite the info in the hotel saying that it was. Staff were polite and helpful. Booked us an airport transfer at a very inflated price. The trams and the mosque opposite are noisy but double glazing is fairly effective. It was a very safe area.

Nice hotel, the location is perfect.

The door staff are outstanding gentlemen as well, always full of information and a helping hand. Hotel room was a good size, clean, the bed comfortable, The room a little bid noise from the busy street in from of the hotel.

Short break in a fascinating city

We wanted to visit Istanbul because of its position straddling Europe and Asia, to sample the smells and sounds of the bazaars, visit the many historical sites and attractions and do something different than the normal vacations in France. We were not prepared for just how fantastic a city it is - it's clean and modern, its people are very friendly, the food choices were great, the views across the Bosphorous were spectacular.

Perfect Location

The hotel is in the perfect location, near the tram and the high spots to see. The staff was great and the breakfast was wonderful. Our only complaint was that our non smoking room was on a non smoking floor but the smell of cigarette smoke was so intense from outside of our room that we could not sleep. Our sinuses were stuffed up every night due to the heavy smell of smoke. We are children of smokers and while we do not smoke usually it does not affect us the way it did at this hotel. After turning on the A/C unit and with it running through the night we were able to sleep as the air was slowly being filtered through the unit. Every night we would turn it on before we would go to sleep and it helped. I loved the location of the hotel but the fact the non smoking floor was not truly non smoking I would not stay there again.

Great all round hotel

The hotel is in a really great location, just around the corner from the tram stop and within walking distance of all the major sites in the old part of Istanbul. The room was good. My main gripes would be that the air conditioning didnt always seem as effective as it good have been and that the toilet was awkwardly placed in the bathroom. The show was fantastic however. However the bed was comfortable, and I was able to access the wifi in my room - although it didnt seem to reach other floors very well (I was on floor 3) so beware of this if you want internet access. The breakfast was fine, and a typical selection of juices, coffee, fruit, eggs, meat, cheese and cereal. The hotel also didnt appear to serve any beer, just very expensive wine in the rooftop bar and no alcohol at all in the downstairs cafe. There's a good restaurant right next door though and spare space in the minibar fridge to leave bottles we bought, so this wasnt too much of a problem.

Good central location, nothing special, normal hotel as expected. Good public transport connections (tram, ferries). Walking distance to Aya Sofya, Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), Topkapi Palace, Galata Bridge.

Staff was very friendly. Were responsive to our requests. Only problem was lack of storage space in room; no drawers , only space to hang clothes. Hair dryer was an antique which hardly dried hair. Excellent location in Old City. Near all the important sites. Good and reasonably priced restaurants next to hotel . Very clean rooms with good air conditioning.

Very well located

The hotel is located on a commercial street and it is very close to resturants, shops and some atractions. The room was average size, and the A/C wasn't cooling. The breakfast is good. Staff is friendly and ready to help. It is a good place to be if you would like to be close to some atractions.l

Stay during May 1st

After the staff moved me to room 402, I was very comfortable in the hotel. The service was good and the complimentary breakfast in the top floor restaurant very pleasant. This is the second time that I have stayed in the hotel and would stay there again.

Very convenient and great views from the rooftop

This hotel is very well situated on the main tram line which links most of the places a visitor would wish to reach. It is a mere stroll from the hotel to the main tourist sights in Sultanahmet and in an area full of cafes and restaurants. This is our second visit and we were not disappointed.
The rooftop breakfast room has magnificent views over the old city and the Bosphorus - though there is talk of moving this downstairs to create more bedrooms. The breakfast buffet is very extensive .

Great hotel !

The hotel was really clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The restaurant on the 6th floor was lovely and the breakfast had a good selection of food. It is close to all the attractions so did not have to use the trams.

Great location

Hotel was within minutes walking distance of many major sights such as Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, etc.
Staff was helpful and spoke English. Many good eateries in the area. Would stay there again when in Istanbul.
