I didn’t like the rude front desk attendant. Cancelled my reservation after traveling for an hour. Was very rude when i asked questions on why my reservation was cancelled. Apparently if you book through a third party they casually decide to cancel your reservation and give it to some else. I guess this is what you get for trying to save a few dollars. She then lied and said she tried to call me and that i was supposed to call to make sure i was coming which is unheard and unacceptable. I ask what number was called because all my information is online and i didn’t get a call. She then admitted she didn’t call. I asked to speak to a manager, more lies stating there was no manager there on a busy Saturday evening. She then rage tried to rage bait me by telling me to have a nice day as i was leaving. Still haven’t received a call to reprimand this situation so I’m guessing this is how they conduct business. Zero stars DO NOT RECOMMEND

The whole staff is extremely helpful and kind, the breakfast is always good, they have fresh Starbucks coffee included with breakfast and a nice patio outside the pool area. We always love staying at the Sonesta and we will be back.

Parking was good. The little tiny balcony was nice overlooked a nice quiet park like area. Check in and breakfast was absolutely terrible and I would not stay there because of those two situations especially if you had a family. I went down for breakfast at seven and there were multiple people standing around waiting for food to be cooked. I finally got food at 7:25 and other people had gathered and then had to wait longer than I did. No empathy from the people working there no explanation as to why didn’t even get excuse me when they came out to drop food into the container. Their attitude was polite, but curt to everyone, not just me. My whole stay was like meeting a pretty lady and at first being please and then finding out how ugly and self centered she was on the inside. Even when I was checking out at the desk. I stated my intention of checking out, she took my “key” and then said, “ok”. And then just looked at me (no polite closing statement or any kind) I finally asked,” Is that all you needed from me?”her reply was, “yes” and I left. I felt like those 24 hours I was an unwanted guest instead of a paying one. While I never expect hotel staff to make me “feel” like they need serve me -I do expect based customer service and professional interactions. Don’t invite people for breakfast and then not be prepared to serve them and if you don’t want to interact with people who come to the desk - don’t work the desk.

Room was clean. The gentleman who ran breakfast was great, he stayed on top of everything and was friendly. The days he wasn't working, items didn't get filled very fast and we had to clean a table to use. Front desk was hit and miss depending on who was working, as well. Overall, not a bad stay, would stay again.

While the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the property and building were nice, I had the following issues.

1. The cable TV consistently glitches when watching local news channels.
2. The heater/ac in the room did not work. So, when it was cold outside, the room was cold. When it was hot outside, the room was hot. Only the fan worked on the unit.
3. The shower head was positioned low. As such, I had to crouch to take a shower. When the shower head was repositioned, it kept falling.
4. Pool was unusable for most of the stay due to water main break and chemical balancing.
5. Gym room was missing half of the lower weighted dumb bells, making exercising impossible.
6. Because of water main break, it was necessary too purchase bottled water and do laundry off site.

While some of this was outside Sonesta's control, other issues were fully within Sonesta's control.

Breakfast really needed replenishment - it was scheduled 630-930. We arrived at 9 and there were no eggs, no sausages, and only a few potatoes. There was one yogurt, no juice cups, three bagels -- and several people were hoping for breakfast. (We know the proteins were options because we saw them earlier when we were getting coffee in lobby).

Room was very very warm. Thermostat only went down to 65 and the fan was almost non existent. We were able to open the sliding door and that helped with temp a bit. Highway noises caused us to close sliding door, however.

We felt very safe in the room and it was clean. Would actually stay again. Starbucks coffee in lobby was great

I paid $15 for breakfast for 2 days. But to find out at the front desk it was $5 a day for breakfast. Then when I woke up it seemed like everyone and anyone was just eating breakfast for free. There was no band or ticket or any way to truly confirm that someone had paid for breakfast. And if there is a way they weren't double checking or ensuring. They ran out of food very fast. There was more people eating than the food that was provided.

Check in lady was very nice, the room was clean, the pool was so gross, very cloudy black hair everywhere, paper all over deck. Looked like diaper. The parking lot had used condom and trash. Parked by pool entrance door. Lady said breakfast was until 10am. Got there garbage over flowing at 940am no food or even fruit. all gone, not even a drink. Pool Looked nice in pictures. We specifically stayed for pool. Did not even get to swim. Very disappointing.

Our room had slime had stains on the floor, bed skirt, and shower curtain. There were also huge pieces of tape on the wall. It looked like the room had been used for a birthday party previously. When I went to inform the front desk about it because I didn’t want to be charged for someone else’s mess or lack of cleaning on the house keeper’s part, the employee was very rude. I didn’t ask for a change of room because it didn’t directly impact our stay and she so impolitely told the guest in front of me that they were booked up. The unprofessional front desk employee kept asking if there was anything else I wanted to complain about. I didn’t go to the desk to complain but to simply have documentation of the state of the room. Front lobby was very clean and modern but the rooms have not been updated in a few years to match the lobby.

The good thing about this hotel is very friendly staff, plenty of parkings, a lot of amenities, and complimentary breakfast. The 2 issues I had is the door on my room seems to not shut fully so I had to take extra precautions when leaving the room and there was an orange peel that was on the floor by the bed that the cleaning staff missed. Overall, good hotel for the price.

We only had a muffin, coffee, and juice. It was pretty standard. The comforter on the bed had seen better days and it was lumpy where the filling had shifted and lumped together. There were two big piles of dirty sheets and towels on the floor in the hallway when we got there in the late afternoon and they were still there the next morning. The refrigerator dint work. Staff was very friendly.

The breakfast menu was average at best. I was disappointed with the pool, which was closed in the middle of a Saturday for \"chemicals.\" The pool was also not heated, though it claimed to be. I asked for extra towels and never received them. I would say none of that is surprising, though, for a mid-range hotel. The linens were clean and the bed comfortable. A rack to put my suitcase on would have been helpful.

They stay was wonderful. But upon check-in, we had a $100 charge sprung upon is that was not mentioned when we booked online. Very inconvenient. We almost werent able to afford to stay because of this. If there had been notice of a charge, we would have planned accordingly and there would have been no issue. Over-all the stay was good. When we were unloading our vehicle my daughter stepped on an inground utility box and the cover gave way and she fell in getting soaked and twisting her knee. The staff did nothing but say they would get maintenance on it. Hours later I went back outside and it was still an open hole right next to parking spaces. This was dangerous and very unprofessional.

Overall for the price, definitely worth it and I'd stay again. But we did have a few small issues. We stayed 2 nights and night one, we noticed the TV connection was terrible. We called the front desk and the Manager said it started that 2 days prior and he'd try resetting the Direct TV receiver. This didn't fix it but we were exhausted and just went to bed. Over the course of the stay, the connection never changed.
When I booked the room, I specifically booked a room with 2 queen beds, a sleeper couch and a roll away bed. Our room only has 2 queen beds.
Again, fairly minor and overall I was pleased.

Our stay was less than mediocre. First they lost my reservation, I was told prior to arrival that I could pay the deposit in cash and then at check in was told I had to pay the deposit with a card. I paid for my stay in full at check in and they continuously tried to charge my card for the entire stay amount every single night we were there. Our room was okay, we liked the layout but the sofa bed had no sheets on it and had food folded up into it. We had to go to the check in desk everyday to reactivate our key cards because they never worked. The pool was dirty and the staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Overall, I was not impressed. We travel to the Detroit are often and definitely will not be staying here again.

First time staying here or at any sonesta select Hotel. Very clean and safe ample parking staff very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean fast my black light test both bedroom and bathroom, I stayed 5 days and had no problems whatsoever. The amenities are nice in terms of half size Olympic pool indoor heated as well as a workout facility on site as well as laundry and a small marketplace that you can access 24/7 for snacks and beverages. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again for the price it's quality and a real value.

The sheets were both dirty and stained, the corner of one of the mattress had blood stains on it, the nightstand had hard glue or something on it, the vent in the bathroom was covered in dust, the fabric chair had stains all over it and the floors throughout were not clean.

Complete failure by the front desk staff. Booked a room at 9:00 pm for late arrival. Arrived at the hotel and they were overbooked and there was no room available after I paid (non-refundable) through Expedia. Staff said there was nothing she could do. Absolutely refused to do anything for us. I called Expedia, who needed to confirm with the hotel before trying to cancel and book another room - front desk refused to answer the phone to speak with them for over an hour. At the same time, police were in and out arresting 2 people due to guns being displayed in their room. It was a crazy awful experience.

I’m not one to complain but this time service was terrible I hate to say it but the worst hotel I had stayed at. Checking in I was giving a room, took my family to the room walked in to a bed no made trash in the sinks. The toilet with bowel in it. I went back to the front desk to ask for a different room the gentleman did not bother to apologize for the inconvenience. I had let my stuff in that room to go complain I asked if she could please open the door to that room so I could grab my belongings and he walked down the hall gave me the key walked away. Not a very clean hotel.
