Hotel was a maze of hallways! I felt like a rat in a maze!! Never seen anything like it and really would never want to stay in this hotel again. But, on the positive side, the room was outfitted with a complete kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, silver, utensils, etc. and a bar height table and chairs. On the negative side, the deodorizer used in the room (apparently to cover up a lingering bad smell) was way beyond overwhelming. The window was wide open when we arrived to the room even though it was in the 20s and snowing outside. We had asked for a room on the quiet side of the hotel but given the busy street side so we had to switch rooms. The next room was slightly better but still had the smell of cleaning fluids or carpet deodorant. Sorry to say that it was not a great experience or relaxing environment. Breakfast was not the greatest either. Skip this one if you can.

The building needed some TLC. I noticed immediately when we approached the front door that the building wouldn’t be updated. From far away it looks fine. But the whole building needs to be repainted, wiped down, etc. The actual bones of the building are good and the large suite room was set up nicely for our family of 4. It just felt outdated so now I understand why it was such a deal on the booking site. So more of a personal preference type of thing. The room was clean, I will say. The front desk staff was super friendly as well. The breakfast was not good but that’s ok, it’s free. Other guests were smoking marijuana close to our room but that isn’t the fault of the hotel or staff. Smell went away quickly.

Our room's thermostat was broken, it was 82 degrees the first night. The maintenance guy came and shot it off, said that he'd have to order a new one - it never came. Instead of taking one from another room, WE had to move rooms - complete inconvenience! The room we were moved to had no soap in the dispensers, it was filthy, there were nails coming up in the kitchen flooring, there was no silverware, no corkscrew, one coffee cup for 5 of us! The hotel offered NO discount or anything - we were NOT happy and probably will not ever be going back as we were not compensated at all through Expedia or the hotel

Terrible. Smelly room that I asked to be cleaned in a 4 day stay and they didn't. Breakfast less than zero everything empty all the time, stale yesterday bread, weak coffee, dirty. The hotel is being used to house section eight and there's garbage outside doors in the hallway, people carrying on until all hours, they should not advertise as a normal business hotel because it's a mess.

The gal at the desk was doing her best - but she was on her own this morning working the desk and doing breakfast. The property is tired and in need of a refresh, for example nics and marks on doors and around doors (especially entrance and elevator), no plug on the clock in the room - needs to be replaced, soap/shampoo dispenser in shower empty and likely didn’t work as separate small bottles of conditioner were in the room but no shampoo was there. We have stayed here in the past and previously found the property to be nice. It has gone downhill.

This property definitely needs updating. Painter’s tape held the baseboards together in the hallways. Even our room number on the door was hand written on a piece of tape. The elevator was disgusting - looked it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Room showed wear but was clean. Ran out of coffee at Saturday breakfast. Won’t stay here again.

By far one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced in years of travel. Do not be deceived by the photos. The rooms felt dirty and damp. I’m not sure how old the beds were, but when I pulled back the bedding to the mattress cover, I was horrified to see yellow stains and long strands of black hair. Fortunately, the top sheet was clean enough.

The bed itself was far too soft for my comfort, leaving me with sleepless nights and back pain throughout my four-day stay. The bathroom is the biggest area of concern. The tub is dangerously slippery, though the front desk does provide sealed suction mats. The bathroom vent was also coated with visible dust.

On the positive side, the lobby was pleasant, the staff friendly, and the complimentary breakfast average. I suspect renovations are underway, which may improve things, but it doesn’t excuse the lack of cleanliness. The fact that a cluster of black thread sat outside my door for days—something I initially mistook for a cockroach—along with other debris, proves the floor was never vacuumed.

In summary: do not waste your money here. You can find far better accommodations for the same price.

We were looking forward to this trip. We stay in this hotel every year for an event in Auburn Hills & this year may have been the last year we stay here.
First let me begin with the girl that checked me in, was that personal phone call so important that you couldn’t call them back after you helped me?
Never went over anything other than the extra $100, & nothing else. Good thing I’ve stayed there before.
This I told the girl at check out…No shampoo, conditioner or shower gel in the containers on the wall. There were no small one in the room either. Good thing I bring my own. There was a lid from a cup visible from behind the dresser, no coffee pot in the room, & the dishwasher never stop running. She never wrote it down so I hope the next person that stays in 301 see this.
Breakfast was over at 8:30 when it clearly states it’s over at 9:30 on weekdays. So we stopped down the road.
My disappointment is with the lack of service, cleanliness & not being able to eat breakfast both mornings we stayed. We came down early & there was nothing or scraps to eat. Very disappointed.

The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was outstanding. It was healthy and had so many great options. We liked the little courtyard for walking. We didn't have enough shower towels in our room when we arrived but the staff gave it to us when we asked. They were also helpful in getting a playpen for my Goddaughter. The room was decently clean but in wall corners, bathroom edges and the bathtub there was visible dirt. Nothing major. Fridge shelves had water all over them as if it looked like it was defrosting from a previous incident. We would stay again. I stayed at another Sonesta and had a worse experience so I am happy that this one was much better. Thank you.

We had a two bedroom room. One of the rooms bathrooms had not been cleaned along with a few areas of the bedroom. When we let the staff know they sent in a person to clean it and all she did was empty the trash. The floor of the kitchen was also very sticky, and the countertop had not been wiped down in the kitchen. I get that they are understaffed, however they really need to do a better job of cleaning the rooms.

The room was VERY clean. Nice comfy couch to watch TV in the sitting room area. The kitchen was also very clean. There is a hot breakfast buffet with eggs, meat, cereal, breads, yogurt and a pancake maker. The pancakes were tasty and hot!

There is some updating to the hallway base going on but the hallway had no mess. The hotel could use some updating but overall I was very pleased.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here (3 days at a time) and will stay here again next business trip.

We had a late check in after a concert and I made the mistake of doing a quick google review check prior to booking. Initially, the reviews looked to be great which was hard to find in that area. Upon check in, the receptionist gave us keys to a room that was either occupied or dirty. So we trudged back and she seemed annoyed that she had to give us another room. The elevator was filthy and premises did not look very clean at all. We got settled into our room and ready for bed. When I flushed the toliet it started overflowing and water was shooting out from the tank. It immediately started flooding the bathroom so we grabbed our belongings and ran downstairs to tell reception. I told her she may want to call for help ASAP, but she slowly took us to another room instead and that toliet was plugged as well. Yikes! At this point, my kids were tired, scared and I asked if we could simply get a refund and leave. She said no, it had already processed. So we finally got into a room with a working toliet near the previous room which had completely flooded by the time we walked back by it. The guest underneath us also had water coming thru the ceiling. The entire situation was so unprofessional and sketchy. I kept telling myself we only had to sleep there! I will say the manager was very friendly and apologetic the next morning, I do feel bad for her but I'm upset I was not allowed to be refunded. $140 for one night in this hole was absolutely crazy.

They overbooked our room and all rooms were booked on that day. So we had to go find another hotel. Front desk staff told us that we should try nearby hotel but did not help us to call to check availability or anything. The told us that it will be canceled once we canceled the reservation on hotels.com but ended up charging us even we did not stay. We had to drive back to the hotel on the next day to get our money back. We were lucky we were still nearby There is no compensation from them and they just blamed the hotels.com for the overbooking. On side note, we ended up staying at one of the Marriott hotel and explained why we ended up to the hotel and they told us that if it happened there, Marriott provide a room or if all rooms booked, they pays for the another hotel as compensation. From now on we will only stay Marita hotel. We use hotel.com often and never have had this problem other than this hotel. This was terrible experience we never have had before and are disappointed in their customer service.

Horrible selection nothing was readily available for the customers although the employees new exactly wanted to come and grab and then everything was empty and she didn't refill and we got there exactly when it opened but the employees they gotten all the eggs and sausage it was just a joke. They should have a couple of elevators not just one that takes you to your floor you have to walk quite a bit to get where you're going to your room there's only one entrance and exit door so we have to be wearing your walking shoes

Major construction, painting, recarpeting with no notice of construction. The rooms were extremely dirty. Floors have not been washed or swept in a very long time. We could not change our reservation or move hotels because we made the reservation months ago for a suite for 5 people because of a concert. Everywhere near the venue was sold out. Extremely poor quality and service. Manager told me we could leave. How about that for service?! We probably should have left and drove home 2 hours at midnight after the concert and saved the $260 dollars for the disgusting room.

This place is in need of major work. It looks like they are trying to renovate, but no signs and it looked horrible with baseboards off, paint or plaster all over the carpet, half the rooms had the room number written on tape on the doors and while that may be part of the renovation, why aren't the entrance doors clean-- they were gross? Or the inside of the elevator that appeared someone spilled a liquid on the metal button panel which was there the 3 days we stayed? We had to switch rooms because the warm water faucet didn't turn on, the TV didn't work and in the bathroom and there was hair in the corners on the floor. The 2nd room was better except there was several areas of orange makeup on the comforter, so we didn't use that. When we checked out, the manager said the hotel was just repurchased and they have work to do and get more staff. Maybe after they actually renovate it will be better. There was also an incident on their basketball court that involved guns being drawn, cops called and chasing down a person or two-- but the hotel can't be held at fault for that in general. It's a nice area, so we were surprised especially after i read reviews before booking which were 8.2/10

Upon entering the lobby, I was immediately met with an unpleasant and unsightly environment. The carpet was stained, and the overall appearance was disconcerting. I checked in for a three-day stay and, upon reaching my room, proceeded to the desk area to cancel my reservation for the subsequent two days.
As I road up the elevator to the second floor, where my room was situated, I refrained from touching the elevator buttons due to their stained and dirty state. The brass fixtures were also stained and dirty, giving the elevator an appearance of neglect. Upon leaving the front desk, I observed that the baseboards had been removed, and the wallpaper was curling up. The carpet was visibly throughout the hotel. Upon reaching the second floor, where my room was located, I noticed that the baseboards throughout the second floor had also been removed, and the wallpaper was curling up from the bottom. There were stains on the door leading to my room.
Despite these minor issues, the interior of my room was clean. The entire hotel room felt like a petri dish, lacking the natural beauty and freshness of a clean environment.
