Excellent room, great bay view with balcony. Staff were excellent and most helpful. There were negatives however for whilst I had selected ‘parking’ as a requirement (I am partially disabled) there is no on-site parking. Their parking is in a shopping centre for $30 a day or $50 valet. Internet was so slow, ‘Speedtest’ didn’t even work. Overall, good, but could be better and ‘offsite’ parking should be highlighted.

The room was very dusty, the whole bathroom was quite dirty, hair on the shower glass, floor was mouldy. The quilt was dirty as well. The fan in the bathroom wasn’t working properly and place got very steamy quickly. Just a very unhygienic room.

There was construction works happening during our stay. It was supposed to be a relaxing getaway. Instead it was not the case, there was constant drilling and even dust coming through the site in the lobby. The entrant to the leisure centre was under construction and poorly laid out. I feel it was wrong to get this quality of stay considering the amount we paid.

The room we stayed in had a collapsed mattress on one side,it was to late to advise the staff on our first night.
When we did advise the staff the next day they changed us to a different room.
Also, we rang reception and room service, waited for 15 mins on the phone. In the end we just went down to reception, only to be told they were very busy,thats why they didnt answer the phone

This a great location. Easy walk to the water and the shops. Room was comfortable, with a good bed and shower.
Unfortunately, the hotel has renovations happening. We were informed of this after booking. This meant that we were woken in the mornings with a jack hammer, that went on throughout the day, was not relaxing and saw us leaving our room early each day.
We had a lovely balcony view, but unfortunately did not enjoy this during the day, due to the jack hammer.
Noah in reception was very helpful.

We could see that the Novotel offers a great experience usually. Our room and clean and had everything we needed, we had a sea view from the balcony, the hotel bar was nice, and the staff were friendly. However, I absolutely cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel right now as there are significant ongoing works and the noise starts at 8am and is unbearable. Think jack hammer levels of noise literally starting at 8am on the dot. I am astonished that the rooms are not in any way discounted to take account of this because you really can’t be in your room beyond 8am due to the levels of noise. If I had known, I would have spent my money elsewhere I’m afraid. I’m pretty upset that I’ve paid a premium price and ended up in a room that was unbearably noisy. I would strongly recommend avoiding until the works are complete.

The staff in the restaurant were lovely.
Bathroom wasn’t cleaned very well and the teaspoons had to be cleaned before we used them as they had lip marks on them.
The bed was comfy and the room was spacious. Walls were dirty and the surfaces were dusty. Not sure if we were the first to use the room for a while.
Not a place I would book again deapite a good location

Disappointing Stay at Novotel – Lacking Service

While the price was relatively affordable, there were several serious issues worth noting. The hotel does not provide parking, and nearby options cost AUD 35–45 per stay. At check-in, one of the front desk staff, an Asain female, was unclear in her explanations and failed to mention breakfast times—she simply handed me a paper and said, “everything you need to know is printed here.” It left me questioning whether I was staying at Novotel or an Airbnb.

The soundproofing was very poor. At night, the neighboring room had loud arguments and blasted the TV. We eventually called the front desk around 11 PM, but the phone rang for a long time before someone answered and took action.

Breakfast the next morning was another letdown—one of the cheeses or the avocado spread seemed spoiled, with a slightly bitter taste. Both my wife and I experienced mild stomach discomfort the following day.

Frankly, I was surprised to see Novotel’s service and quality drop to this level. When cost-cutting takes priority, the guest experience inevitably suffers.

From bad to worse

Check in was terrible eftpos wasn’t working but I kept being told it was my card and no fund !
TV remote did t work asked for another but took 3 people 2 hours of trouble shooting to finally agree it was the remote. My room wasn’t serviced dispute asking several times and the minor bar charges we applied when the bar was empty !! Not very happy

Upon arrival at Novotel Geelong on Sunday, January 19, 2025 after a 16-hour flight from the US, we were notified upon check-in, that the air conditioning was not working and had not been working for several days. We were told we could cancel our reservation and receive a full refund, however, because we travelled so far and so long for a family funeral, we were in no condition to have to find a different hotel. We checked out Friday, January 24, 2025, and the air conditioning was never fixed. The only thing offered to us was free $40/day valet parking of our rental car. The service at the hotel was terrible. You have to request to have your room serviced by 9:30 pm the night before. They do not tell you this as you check-in. We happened to have seen it on a flyer that we were given that outlined the hotel restaurant, etc. When we did have our room serviced, they did not replace dirty glasses, take away dirty towels, provide additional toilet paper, restock tea/coffee, etc. When I gave the front desk clerk a list of items that we needed that would have been part of the room servicing we would expect, we were given the look of utter disappointment with our request. We have stayed at this hotel before, the last time being September 2022 and it was acceptable then. It has truly gone downhill since then.

The pool area was disgusting. In room dining service should be available until 10:30 pm not 8:30 pm. There should be cream available with the pancakes in the morning buffet breakfast. There should be a sliding door where the showers are in the rooms. Otherwise water goes everywhere when you have a shower. The view of the bay was lovely and the room layout was lovely. The staff were friendly. There should also be a spa in the pool area.

Great location close to the waterfront and the cbd. The happy hour was great value and the buffet breakfast was great with plenty of options. All the staff were polite and friendly. The shower water pressure was excellent, and the bed was comfortable. My only criticism was the cleanliness of the carpet. A little more attention could be paid to the edges and around things such as the legs of furniture. It only makes the mind wonder to the places you cant see.

Large room with an excellent outlook (we were at the front of the building overlooking the bay). Clean and modern. Directly opposite a large shopping mall. The only downside is the parking. A choice between valet parking for $40 or the cheaper option of metered parking in the street - while the street parking is free after 5.30pm, the meter starts up again at 9am, which is a nuisance.

Good location
Parking with an electric car isn’t great.
Check in was good.
Room was good.
Comfortable bed.

Food was not great.
Oysters were nice.
Chips were cheap.
Steak was below average.
Sticky toffee pudding was awful, put a pack and microwaved to within an inch of its life.
Hotel itself was good, the food left a bit taste (pun intended) to the visit hence the 3 stars.

Tempo restaurant was terrible, didnt want to honour happy hour prices and closed kitchen for dinner early. Breakfast experience even worse, 3 staff on floor and waited 30 mins for a coffee. Food in warmer was average and paid $38 buffet breakfast and only allowed 1 coffee per person! never heard of this before and closed doors 30 mins earlier, so ppl arriving couldnt get breakfast as per noticeboard times.

wont be attending here again anytime soon.

I booked the property for our 10th wedding anniversary. There were no offers to pay extra for an upgrade or any additions (which I would have done.) I tried calling 5 times during the day to ask about parking and couldn’t get through. When I called for some room service I was told someone else had ordered something on our room number. Generally the facility is nice just wasn’t quite the experience I was hoping for.

If there was a negative star, I would’ve given a negative star. Checked in at 6pm, checked out 12 midnight on same day. Bed was uncomfortable, could not connect TV to my son’s PS as we’ve done in the many hotels and resorts we stay at. My son called reception to ask about TV connection but reception barely spoke a word of English. Couldn’t understand what my son wanted. We checked out in 6 hours. It was a waste of money!!!

I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We had a great view of the ocean and the giant sky wheel which lights up at night. The hotel is the most convenient in Geelong and is right across the street from most of the main attractions. It is also located on the same block as the main restaurants and dessert places which was great. The morning breakfast was one of the best of our entire trip. Highly recommend getting this included in your stay. We had dinner in the hotel too, but this wasn't as good. Absolutely everything is served chargrilled which I don't like, but if you do like that you should try the restaurant. The hotel didn't have any on site self parking. I believe there was a valet parking option but it was pretty easy to find street parking so we opted out of that. The street parking was free from 5:30pm to 9am and most of the time we found a spot right out the front of the hotel. I found the service from the hotel staff ok. Nothing special. When we showed up in the evening to check in with all our luggage, the lady at the desk seemed almost confused as to what we were doing there. For the most part, the staff don't talk to you unless you walk right up to them to ask a question. This is not necessarily a complaint, it was just an interesting observation after staying at a hotel in Melbourne CBD that was the complete opposite.

Loved the central position - and walkability. Tempo restaurant highly recommended with a short stroll for breakfast if you want something different. Staff were happy, professional and accomodating. The price of parking per night was expensive especially when not using the valet service and leaving your car for 48 hours - $80.
