The hotel is well suited to work conferences. or golfing holidays.
For the non golfer or conference participant, the hotel offers less. Although there is an excellent indoor pool, its frequent use for kids’ swimming lessons limits guest enjoyment to one lane for significant portions of the day. Nor does the hotel have an indoor lounge or easily accessible outdoor sitting area.
But during the summer - with the beach and lovely walks nearby - the hotel serves as a very comfortable base.

My only complaint would be to have a small ‘grooming’ kit in the bathroom, like a shower cap, ear cleaners cotton balls or something.
I stayed 1 night and it was affordable. I’d definitely stay again for longer as I didn’t get the chance to use the amenities.

Situated on the course with two restaurants to chose from, a bar, and some kangaroos that roam the greens in the evening. Local to multiple beaches, restaurants, and amenities. Can walk to the beach in 5-10 minutes. Approx a 10 minute drive to anything you need in Torquay. Definitely recommended.

I loved my stay at The Sands! The rooms are huge, luxurious and calm with the most comfortable bed. Rooms have everything that you need, including all necessary appliances and beautiful Eleven shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion supplied. The location is superb as the beach is literally across the road. Staff are all lovely and friendly and there is a large range of food and drinks available at the onsite restaurant, bar and cafe. This is my third time at the resort and I love it :)!

We stayed at The Sands Torquay for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and it was such a lovely experience. We had a golf course view, which was beautiful to wake up to — and we even got to see kangaroos just chilling on the course, which felt so special and very Aussie.

The room was spacious, clean, and really comfortable, perfect for a relaxed holiday stay. On Christmas Day, the team surprised us with a stocking filled with little treats, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the day feel extra special.

Overall, it was a peaceful, welcoming, and memorable Christmas stay. We felt very looked after and would absolutely stay again. 🎄✨

2nd or 3rd time staying at The Sands. Rooms are spacious, clean and all the apps on tv(not that you need). The shower is huge but water pressure average. I came back from the beach with so much sand I asked for a sponge to sweep it up in the shower “don’t be silly, housekeeping will take care of you”. The reception staff are amazing. They helped with an injured bird that crawled up to me on the lovely outdoor area looking out at the golf course. All the staff are amazing, from cleaners, reception(Robyn is fantastic). The staff really go above and beyond. Cora and Levi make a terrific coffee in the morning, Jayden on the bar and restaurant in the arvo has expert knowledge of menu and wines. Dan from Italy making the best Pizza that so hot and spicey (I’m gluten free and it had taste!). Always a pleasure to stay but I still ask BRING BACK THE BLT at breakfast! The Fitness space is adequate for a short stay and staff are friendly. I would and will continue to stay here, sometimes it’s a bargain compared to other locations in the area and the amazing service is outstanding.

My room was very clean and spacious. I was travelling alone and felt very safe with the security. The staff on check in and out were extremely friendly and helpful. I found the staff at breakfast less so. The only slight issue was I was on the ground floor (which was fine) but there must have been children in the room above and could hear them in the morning running around (thumping on the ceiling for me) and this did wake me. Otherwise, I could not fault my stay, will definitely stay again.

Very disappointing.

Very Disappointing. Receptionist checking me in not very interested in the guest. Poor explanation of where to find my room so I got very lost. No information given on the facilities. I asked if they had room service, “no, but you can get takeaway and have it in your room was the reply’ !!!! No information given on breakfast options. I did not even know there was a restaurant onsite until I read the dossier in my room at about 10.00 pm that night. A map of the place showing where everything is would have been very helpful.
I stayed overnight to attend a function at the hotel, a presentation preceded by dinner. That dinner was also disappointing, tables set with no bread and butter plates, so people used their paper napkins to butter their bread rolls on. When I asked staff if we our table could have bread n butter plates brought out, he said ‘side plates’??? I said yes, I’d prefer to butter my bread roll on a plate, rather than the tablecloth. No condiments on the tables. Then, Alternate drop meals that were luke warm. Heating in my room not working properly. Truly, I could not wait to get out of there this morning. Never again.
