Having stayed at many Marriott locations nationwide, Norwich was by far the worst experience I have had at any hotel. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was filthy—literally every part of the hotel was dirty. We booked two rooms, and both were incredibly unclean and falling apart. The couch was stained, had a foul odor, and was missing large chunks of wood. Everything about the rooms was repulsive and in disrepair. The entire building seems in need of demolition. I will never stay at this hotel again; I’d rather sleep in my car.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was fantastic other than the pillows. They were pretty flat but I did request to have an extra pillow because I normally sleep with extra and the gentleman ended up going downstairs and got me some brand new pillows which were perfect. The only area of improvement I would suggest is the Bistro was very tiny and essentially was transformed to Starbucks the next morning. Other than that I have no complaints at all and I would certainly stay there again.

When we arrived we were told that the only King rooms they had left were either two handicapped accessible on first floor or a basement room w a walkout. Unacceptable, but it was 10 pm.
Room was not updated at all, desk area had green and maybe Coke stains on counter. Obvi not cleaned well. Totally sub standard room for a Marriott Courtyard. NEVER AGAIN!!!

We were under the impression there was a pool and jacuzzi as I just got a new knee and have been in rehab so we checked in th room and immediately went to the pool where on the wall it says Pool and Jacuzzi and there was No jacuzzi so we went right back to the front desk where the girl said there was nothing she could do so I asked for the manager and she basically called me a liar and said Show me the ad so I did and she then blamed it on corporate and website so she said we will give you a full refund immediately and we left and that was Friday the 22nd at about 3:30 pm and I still haven’t received my money back so I would like my money back immediately please

Breakfast area is in the lobby and when we thought it could not have gotten worst they charged out credit card for an additional $300 for a door handle which they claimed was damage during the time we were there. when I called to clarify and to let them know that the lock was as is when we got it the so call manager hang up on me. When I called back the general manager’s behavior was even worst. This place needs to be closed. The smell alone in the lobby is distasteful. We were there for our anniversary and my husbands. birthday and is deeply sadden by this. My husband wanted to leave from the first day based on the experience. This is a-shame! I asked the house keeper for additional towels and she said the wash was broken so she only game me 2 for the two rooms. Everything seems to be falling apart there.

Expensive stay for a subpar experience. Stayed 5 nights, had to beg for housekeeping to come on day 4 because they didn’t come at all before this. Shower/shampoo/conditioners were empty. Beds very uncomfortable. Pillows were pancakes. Air conditioning seemed to be on a timer, only works during the day and then you’re sweating all night. Not enough room storage. Had to pay for breakfast and coffee. At this price the hotel should be providing hot coffee and continental breakfast like all other hotels.

The Hotel was very nice, very well run, clean with an outstanding staff that went out of their way to accommodate us. HOWEVER, the Hotel is located in a run down, 4th rate commercial zone surrounded by \"quicky mart's\" sans a friendly \"AUP\" (as per the Simpson's) level staffs - the little \"third rate deli\" staff 100 yds from the Hotel were surely idiots who when we asked for service to buy a morning bagel replied \"we don't do that here\". So we left our coffees on the counter and replied \"we don't buy stuff here, then\" and walked out. Of course we were totally aware that the two clerks at the deli were not sophisticated (intelligent enough??? most likely. But let's be PC and not judgmental regarding their customer service skills) enough to provide a coherent response to a request they as individuals were not programmed to do.
So if Marriott just moved that Hotel to a place other than where it currently is ........ but then again, maybe Marriott should talk to the City of Norwich Government re slum control in the area around the Hotel?????

What I wasn't happy about was that the hotel lost power and I had to leave the hotel on my last night there. I know it wasn't your fault but it was very inconvenient. I also think you need to upgrade your internet in the hotel. There were 3 times when it took me 20 minutes or longer just to get online and then I would lose the connection before I was done typing a communication to a business associate. It was the worst experience I've had getting online in 20 years. It reminded me of a hotel in Mexico when everyone was on a dial up connection. It was that bad.

The hotel had no power when we arrived, and the staff repeatedly lied, saying it had “just gone out,” when it had clearly been out for hours. There were no updates or apologies. I have a medical condition that requires a C-PAP machine, and I couldn’t use it due to the outage, making the stay not just uncomfortable, but a health risk.
The front desk staff was rude and dismissive throughout. In the morning, I asked about coffee and was told “we offer breakfast, but it’s not free” — not what I asked. When trying to buy bottled water, the staff questioned me suspiciously and demanded cash, forgetting we hadn’t even been checked in properly due to the outage.
There was no hot coffee, no juice, and zero effort to accommodate guests. On our second night, we had to call the front desk three times to complain about loud guests at midnight. The same staff member shrugged it off. I had to walk him to the room myself.
The toilet in our room clogged from normal use (not misuse), and instead of helping, the front desk told us to go find a plunger they left outside another guest’s room on another floor. We had to fix it ourselves. I’ve attached a photo.

Was currently going through construction during our stay so there was a lot of banging and things taped off. The hotel was comfortable. The pool was small but nice. The gym though literally only has 3 treadmills, a rack of dumbbells, and a half deflated yoga ball. The room could have accommodated a lot more equipment so I hope that changes with the renovations.

We were put on the second floor above where construction was taken place. When we checked in we were not told this and there was no sign of it at that time. We found out by being woken up to pounding below us. We declined housekeeping during our stay. We left the garbage can outside our day. When we returned, we found that our room had been made up. This put us on edge since we declined the service and had the do not disturb sign on our door. I made all of this aware at check out and it was not acknowledged.

Check-in was efficient, our beds were comfortable. The building fire alarm went off at 8:30am for 10 minutes. We exited but no staff ever offered an explanation, told us it was safe/not safe to reenter, or checked on guests. Our shower handle was broken and we had no hot water. The front desk said they would send maintenance to fix it but never did so our choices were ice cold showers or to not shower. At check out, staff apologized but said they couldn’t refund any money because we booked through on online source. Instead they offered us 4 to-go drinks from their Marketplace refrigerator.

The room was very clean and I got a suite so it was very roomy with a great balcony. The tv in the bedroom didn’t work and it took two calls to the front desk to get it fixed, the guy who fixed it was very polite and did so quickly. It looked like the rooms at the other end of hall were updated but we didn’t get one of those. My guess is Hotels.com buys up the older rooms for a cheaper rate. No breakfast or extras coffee included. There’s a Starbucks in the lobby.
