From pictures on hotels.com, to the actual room. There is zero similarities. Rooms are very dark and dingy. No real comforter, just like an old hospital blanket it felt like. King bed but 4 tiny pillows. Didnt want to turn on heat/ac/fan due to fear of mold. Office chair that was in the room looked like it has been covered in bodily fluids multiple times. Shower was honestly pretty nice though. As we were dropped our keys off, i could here employees in the back office talking about how someone should not be looking through peoples information. With this alone I have put a freeze on all my accounts.

The breakfast was the typical basic cold food options (plus waffles) with mediocre coffee. We passed on the food and went to Perkins.

The room was awful! We booked 3 rooms and all smelled awful, the rooms were dirty, the carpets were stained, the ceiling in one of the rooms looked like it was going to collapse! The furniture was so outdated. I’m not sure how they can justify charging $130+ a night for this hotel!!

Normally, we don’t stay in a hotel with less than a 4.0 guest rating, but, due to a nearby music festival, our choices were limited. Yes, there were stains on the carpet, chair, and ironing board, and the property was dated. The beds in our room were also a bit concave. It is a budget hotel. But the bedding and bathroom were clean. No dust in the room. Floors were vacuumed. I felt comfortable and safe sleeping there. And Kim is as charming and friendly as the other reviewers say. She deserves 5 stars.

Checking in was okay, but thing went downhill from there. After checking in we noticed that the side door to the building had key card access, but it was broken so it provided no security at all. Additionally, the security chain/lever for the door in our room was broken off. We slept with a chair against the door. Unfortunately, this did not keep all visitors away as we woke up in the early morning and felt something crawl across our faces, but thought it was just a fly. We found a roach crawling across the bed and killed it. We were booked for 5 days so we went to the front desk told them we were checking out and asked for a refund for the rest of our stay. They said that since we had booked through a third party we would have to go through them. Expedia contacted the motel twice trying to get a refund from the motel and were not successful. We did book it knowing that there was no refund for cancellation, but we cancelled the rest of our stay because the motel was not clean and safe and because of that we should have gotten a refund. I would not recommend staying at this Baymont Inn and I personally will never stay at another Baymont.

Hotel was dirty and falling apart. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator. Front desk staff didn't bother to let us know in advance and as a family of 5 we had a lot of baggage. Ice maker was broken. The carpet in our room was covered with stains and I found a toenail. The bed was okay, but the pillows were very lumpy. Shower was hot but not much pressure. Breakfast was very underwhelming. Hallways smelled like they were fabreezed to cover something. We would not stay here again.

The woman that checked me in was rude, inattentive, and bad at her job. The woman i spoke with in the morning was very polite and helpful. You get what you pay for. This was a last minute stay for us since we were in town for a wedding. If you have options, stay elsewhere.

We arrived at 2 to see if we could check in an hour early. There were 2 cars in the entire parking lot and the manager refused to allow. There had to be A single clean room an hour before check in with hardly anyone staying in the hotel. She didn't offer a reason and was crabby at being asked. I asked if she could tell me where our room would be and she said that she couldn't tell us that until 3:00.

At breakfast the next morning, my kids were by the bread canister and she came over and slammed it shut telling them that it needs to start shut so flies didn't get in.

We had to get our room transferred to another because the AC didn't work. This too was met with hostility and a bad overall attitude that seems to be just par for the course at this hotel.

I have stayed at other baymonts and have never had issues like this. Would not stay in dubuque again and should have been refunded partially since we were in a room with no air for 2-3 hours on an extremely hot day. These things should be checked into prior to check in.

Room 224 probably still has issues because I'm sure the manager doesn't care. Hire someone that likes people.

This was an overly priced hotel and I would not recommend for groups. The rooms & amenities were dated. There was no place for our group to gather. It seemed like this hotel is more utilized for long-term stays or residences. The facility is in disrepair- large, unsafe holes and cracks in the parking lot, torn carpet and broken tiles indoors, room doors don't latch all the way, exit doors don't latch. Would not recommend.

The entire hotel smelled like Marijuana. There appeared to be people living in the hotel like a half way house and selling drugs. The lady at the front desk/manager was rude about everything. We asked to use the conference room to socialize with our large group and she wouldn't let our group sit in there for no reason. We had kids want breakfast right before it closed at 9am and she quickly came in, took everything down and said \"too bad\". She has no business working in hospitality. For $230/night, this hotel is the absolute worst. Disgusting.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The door to our room was falling off the hinge. To close it we needed to lift it from the handle and forcefully lift it up and back into the door frame to lock it. The hotel was dingy, dusty and overall musty smelling. The hallway smelled of old ashtrays. The pull out couch in our room looked like it came from the basement of a college frat house...and it was too close to the bed to use the pullout bed...not that we would have used it in the condition is was in anyway. The clientele at the hotel was sketchy to say the least, constant coming and going in the evening, suspicious activity throughout the evenings. Others we were with were next to rooms where screaming, yelling, and cursing was rampant. Another individual we were with had a hole in their bathroom door, the size of a fist. Individuals were passed out in cars in the parking lot in the morning. The entire experience was nothing but shady.

Overpriced for a place needing so much maintenance. Phone in room didn't work, half the lights didn't work and most had no cover so you could look into ceiling to see the wiring, sink was tiny and had a crack in the basin, holes in walls that were covered with painters' tape, very limited outlets, smokefree property but we could smell smoke in hallways, and the smoke area was outside our AC unit being sucked into our room. Parking and sidewalks are tripping hazards with huge cracks; we had 2 kids trip and fall. Entryways are not secure; anyone can enter the hallways at any time. The sitting area for a room that sleeps 6 people only has 1 chair and one small desk. Curtains had holes in them.

Cold water in the pool. I had to request new bathroom towels upon arrival towels were dirty. No elevators had to carry luggage up two floors to reach our room. Breakfast was free but could have had a better selection. Musty smell in the hallway s from the carpet. Close to mall and shopping and restaurants. Nice for the price but we also filled a form about the outlet for charging ports where broken had to go by a charging brick for phone. Microwave was from the 70’s bed was comfy air worked it was 100 outside. I would say over all three stars rating. One night stay yes but not for more than that. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Baymont has definitely left their properties get run down. They are not as nice as they used to be. The entire time we stayed there the entire place smelled like marijuana. Employees were going out back Propping open a secure door and smoking weed throughout the day And at one point multiple maids And male maintenance employees were out back in the same area smoking and drinking alcohol during the day.
Also, this location is still working under covid protocol. Staff does not clean your rooms or bring you new towels. I gave my towels to the maid as we were leaving to go to our baseball game Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and ask them to put four new towels in our bathroom. When we returned from our activities later that night around 9:00 p.m. We still had no towels. I went to the desk acquired and she said the laundry was still dirty and they had no clean towels. Saturday morning I went back down to the desk and inquired about towels again. I was questioned about why I didn't have towels. Finally got the manager to give me clean ones so me and my family could shower.
Police department had been there multiple times. I inquired with one of the local officers about the marijuana use and they said it was illegal to be in possession by Iowa state law I know the management and employees heard me talking to the officer about it in the lobby.

The manager of the hotel was very rude. We went to breakfast at 8:30 (it ended at 9am) and there was no hot coffee. She clearly made it an issue to make another pot. When she did, she just put it right on the table. Her interactions with me were rude and disrespectful. She does seem to work crazy hours, which is what I will attest her poor attitude to, but not what you want in your welcoming crew.

We didn’t understand how to get into the pool and when asked she was rude to my girlfriend and told her the code was on our room card holder. Two hundred dollar deposit for the jacuzzi that is already broken. The hot water handle is missing and the drain has to be pried out by hand. The handle for the drain doesn’t work. Charging a two hundred dollar deposit for something that is already broken is ridiculous. The room was clean and comfortable.

The lady at check in was very friendly and knew her job. Have to go outside to use the quickest route to room, run down a bit, older, bed was good and clean as were the bathrooms. Entering the hallway to our room there was a strong strong smell of weed. Our key didnt work when we tried it, but check in lady walked us back to our room (outside) after we had to walk back to the desk because we couldnt get our key to work. It should be cheaper priced. Not bad for one night, but not our 1st pick.

Check in/out was very easy. One of the reasons my parents chose this location was because the website said there was a bar in the hotel. When we arrived there was a large sign for the bar on the actual Baymont street sign.

Once inside it was clear the bar had not been operational for a very long time. No big deal, we asked permission to sit at a table with our own beer and visit. We put our beer in the little mini fridge behind the bar (the bar had zero alcohol in it). A little girl 7/8 yrs old, was running in and out, it was clear that this was her playroom while grandma was working the counter. The little girl was A LOT. Then another person came in, friend/relative of counter person, while my step mom was getting our beer out of the fridge and starting yelling that she was not allowed behind the bar. Meanwhile the little girl is throwing toys by our heads, watching cartoons on the tv and swinging a pool cue around.

We left the bar area after the unpleasant conversation, went to our rooms and the first thing I see is a box elder bug on my pillow. Not a big deal, we are from a rural area and know they harmless. Other than that the room was nice and clean.

We don't want anyone to lose their jobs, but thought you should be aware of our treatment.

Our ages range from 55 - 73 yrs old so it is not like we were rowdy guests.

It makes me very sad to have to write this review. First of all, our card was charged before we even checked in. Upon check in the front desk attendant told us that the faucet on the hot tub was broken so don’t bother calling about it. You’d need a pliers to get it on. (We paid extra to have a hot tub in the room). The TV did not work at all. We were told too bad and that we would get a “nice discount”. The next day the TV still did not work and when we tried to use the hot tub the drain plug would not come up so we were unable to. The room was nasty. Stains and mold. When we checked out the staff was rude. We were told the GM would call us back and that never happened. We stayed here years ago and it was not like this. The place must have switched hands and gone WAY downhill. The whole place was super hot too. We didn’t take a chance on the breakfast because the state of the property was so bad you would not want to eat there. There are many other hotels in Dubuque that are better. Based on this experience we will never stay here again. This could have all been resolved without a bad review if our phone call had been returned.

I don’t think the windows in the pool area have been cleaned in weeks. Many spiderwebs with spiders in them on the inside windows.
