We originally booked the water park but pivoted last minute when it was closed. Thank goodness we did! We loved this hotel! The staff was lovely and helpful, the pool was the perfect size to burn off energy, the rooms were spacious and clean, Caroline’s was delicious for breakfast, and the location couldn’t be beat. We were meeting grandparents and other family who also loved the hotel. Great charm and history. The bar and ambiance was an added bonus.

The staff is amazing. Christine is so friendly and helpful. The hotel has such character but it's still updated and clean. They have a wonderful bar downstairs in the lobby and Caroline's Restaurant is delicious. They have a huge brunch menu and everything we've ever ordered was the best we've had. Locally sourced bacon and other items. First class experience! We stay here every time we're in town.

Several issues with this place. Firstly, the thermostat did not work, after playing w it for 15 minutes (ice cold). Called front desk & the rather arrogant young man said it had to b adjusted from front desk, as it’s an old building. Why isn’t there a sign somewhere?

Next up, there are limited electrical outlets near bed. The outlet in bathroom didn’t work at all. On the 2nd day, the cable stopped working. The same front desk person said there was nothing he could do, after running me through a useless gamut of trying to reset cable box.

The restaurant closes at 9. And LATE checkout is only 30 minutes later than checkout. Nothing was offered for our inconveniences, after we reported issues on checkout date. I would definitely not recommend this place

Our room was very not clean. Chips by the bed frame’and the glass on the art work was very dirty and pretty gross. The artwork in the hall was also in very badly need of being cleaned.

The edges of our room were dusty and desperately needed some extra attention.

The shower was very nice. It did have a little corner shelf that was rusty and falling down. That was pretty gross and useless as we couldn’t put any products on it.

We did appreciate the beds, which were very comfortable and gave us two great nights of sleep.There was a chair and footstool which was great addition to the room.
The dresser/tv stand was in need of replacement as it was beat up and had a piece of worn Velcro attempting to secure the door that access the mini fridge

The pool was good sized. Unfortunately it was VERY cold and when I attempted to get in I just couldn’t handle the cold temperature and had to abandon the idea of relaxing in the pool, which was a disappointment cause I had been look forward to that as part of our weekend getaway.

We did experience some paranormal activity when we attempted to communicate with any spirits that might reside in the hotel. We got intelligent responses using an EMF detector and dowsing rods. So that was very cool experience.

If the hotel has been cleaner and more attention to detail on the cleaning was a bit better I’d definitely stay again.

Unfortunately the lack of cleanliness is a feels breaker for me.and I won’t return to this property.

Wonderful hotel with an updated old charm. This hotel did not disappoint. The hot tub and pool where clean and relaxing. The room was clean, bed very comfortable. It is located in like an old part of town with lots of walkable plaves to visit, shopping and restaurants. It was very quiet. You will not be disappointed if you stay here

The room was clean, quiet, and well-maintained, and the robes were a nice touch. However, the king bed in our room was rock hard. I ended up trying to sleep in the room’s provided chair while my husband tossed & turned all night. So, if comfortable sleep during travel is important to you as it is to us, I recommend elsewhere unless they have other beds that are actually “pillow-top” as their description states. No microwave was also a drawback.

The property is a historic building. The lobby was very nice. The staff was professional. The room was decent. Our room had a door connecting to the next one over. They were not part of our group and unfortunately, we heard more than we should have from their room. Other than that, our experience was good. I enjoyed the walking map of the murals. It is a great location as it’s close to the art museum and the Mississippi River aquarium and museum.

The staff were fantastic, pool was a little cooler then we would have liked but it was clean and the area was well maintained which is very important to us. We loved the vibe of this hotel, you get the old historic classy feel here. The workout room was actually more impressive than we thought it would be with new equipment.

The pillows were terrible. That's about the only complaint I have!

The hotel is a glimpse into the past. It has been beautifully maintained and its history embraced. The rooms are spacious and robes add a special touch. The staff were friendly and responsive. Checked in late evening and room was freezing 63 degrees. We asked front desk and they told us they control the temperatures. We asked to have it at 72-73 degrees. A couple hours later and many phone calls she couldn’t get it to work and there was no way we could stay in this freezing room so she said she would move us to another room that had heat down there hall. So at midnight we are going back and forth from one room to the other moving all our stuff. The next morning we get a call from front desk not asking how everything was or if we were ok but to say they were going to have to move us back to the first room!! Their only concern was that the room we were in was booked for the day. I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service. I said I wasn’t going to pack up again and shuffle around from room to room. We were told they WE would have to leave then if we wouldn’t move out of that room. Truly unbelievable!! We left and booked another hotel that was beautiful AND you could control the temperature in your room. I would never go here or recommend to anyone

This hotel is beautiful! I felt like I was in a scene in an old movie... I heard fun stories from the locals about Al Capone's visits and his suite on the top floor... (Not sure if that is true) ...

The location is spot on, and the views were amazing from our 6th floor room. The coffees at Carolines were amazing.
We will definitely be staying here again if we are back in the area.

I’m giving it a 4 bc while location was good, history of hotel interesting, Also, beds slept great. I think it’s time for a refresh. The curtains in our room were stained. And curtain liner had holes in it. Bathroom mirror and vanity were scarfed up, need to be painted, or replaced. Even base of bedside lamp had old age grunge in the cracks/seams. Outlet in bathroom did not work. Pool area had a large hole in the ceiling. This hotel has huge potential, just needs some love.

The hotel is beautiful and so full of history. They have kept it up and made updates to keep it with the times but still remain timeless.
