The room was in not great condition - a hole in the door, dirty mirror with stickers on it, and the jet tub was visibly dirty.
The only staff we saw physically during our stay was a construction worker in the hallway. Checking in and out was via kiosk, and we did not see any other staff.
Additionally, checkout was a hassle when the lobby door was locked to guests, although I was able to go outside and come back in the front door.

Insufficient parking - had to park at restaurant next door and move car before 8 am to avoid being towed

Hole in the bathroom door. No coffee for the coffee maker in the room. Carpet surrounded the bathtub. Bathtub faucet leaked. Could barely open and close bathroom door as the door barely cleared the toilet. Sink is in the main room, very small counter for getting ready.

No one was on site for checkin. Had to talking to a video employee.

The staff was nice and welcoming. The area is good, close to good food and target. The floor was not swept or mopped which wouldn’t have bothered me as much I would just wear shoes but my crawling baby was with me, so not so great. The bathroom floor was cleaned or appeared to be. The AC ran and tried its best but simply isn’t well enough to keep the room cool. It was uncomfortably hot until the sun went down. Being close to the college there were drunk youngsters playing loud music and screaming throughout the night. The breakfast was not really a breakfast, muffins, cereal, bad fruit and waffles. I would stay here again in a pinch if I needed a place, but if looking for satisfactory rest I would not recommend.

What I didn't like was the main door to hotel rooms didn't have a lock. This is the safety issue! Anyone can come in and out. The door should remain locked all the time and can be accessed only by the guests with the access key.

I wasn't a fan of having a kiosk with a remote customer service person doing the check in. NOT a personal experience and it didn't give me a very good impression of the management of the facility.

The rooms were updated and clean, which was a bit of a surprise as the area around the hotel looked a little sketchy and run down. I was concerned about the security in the area as I found two of the outside doors propped open at 8:30 at night, and my window on the ground floor was unlatched as well.

Black Duck tape on bathroom door, molding on bottom of bathroom door moldy and rotted away. Entrance door to room did not shut all of the way unless you push hard or pulled hard. Kisok check in which was slow. Creepy old man guarding the hallway area and staring at people out side his window no one on site to talk to if you needed anything. My door handle to my room was jiggled 3 times through out my first night there. Felt like they were doing bed checks or something. Lack of towels in room. No disturb signs.

We checked in using a kiosk with a virtual link to someone offsite. He was a good sport since we had teenagers with us. Owner told me later they were testing the use of the kiosk because he can’t find employees. There were a variety of guests from families to a group of older women. Rooms were clean and pics were accurate. Complimentary breakfast room has seating for about 6-8 so prepare to eat in your room. No protein choices at breakfast when we were there. We were in town for an event so basically at hotel at night.

The most disturbing part of the entire stay was checking in. Instead of a human being, there was a kiosk with a large video screen and the clerk appeared on the screen and directed us through the check-in process. They kept saying things like, \"This is standard practice in modern hotels,\" but I have stayed in many hotels and never had a virtual person check me in. There was also an attendant on duty, but he didn't do the check-in.

However, after we went to our room and we're getting settled, he opened our door without knocking to see if anyone was in the room. When I booked my room online, I requested an accessible room because it was a small hotel and would not have an elevator. I did not want to climb steps with luggage because of mobility issues.

The breakfast provided was bare bones and minimal but edible. The room itself was fine and the bed was comfortable. The AC worked well, and we did not try the television. The bathroom was accessible for a wheelchair, however the mirror was not properly affixed to the wall and hanging at an angle, and if I had been in a wheelchair I would not have been able to see myself.

Frankly, I find it disingenuous to advertise this as a \"by Wyndham\" property. It's a Days Inn.

Walls are paper thin, pillows are tiny, you talk to a person on a screen for check in, and we skipped the morning shower - bugs started crawling out of the drain and there was hair stuck in the drain as well. 0 stars - stay somewhere else if you can. The cheaper rate wasn’t worth it.

For the most part, it clean and comfortable. Regarding the free breakfast… for a 7 day stay, I found it available 3 days. Two days with no coffee. Even in the room when they cleaned it it was not restocked with coffee.
Located nicely near a Perkins and McDonald’s, Target all with in walking distance.

Nice room, not hot water

The web description says that they offer breakfast, but that is false. I checked 2 days, and basically nothing there.

Room was recently renovated and clean. Sink had hot water, but shower had very low water volume, and was about half cold and half hot, so taking a shower was uncomfortable and I did it as quickly as possible to avoid shivering.

I was pleasantly surprised on initial cleanliness of the room and updated decor. The location is very convenient to campus. If’s pretty close to self service though. The front desk is rarely staffed and they don’t clean the rooms during stays, just between stays. Hotel amenities are basic but I wasn’t there for much time. In room refrigerator does not have a freezer so couldn’t keep cooler packs frozen for tailgate. Parking lot was super tight. All rooms in Ames are overpriced on game weekends. This hotel isn’t worth $240/night any other time.

If all you need is a place to sleep.....

The rooms were good, clean, and updated. But shower water pressure was a little more than a dribble. Air conditioner died on 1st day, room was upper 80s when we got back from a long day in the sun. The continental breakfast was the worst i have ever seen, and i travel A LOT. Bread was days old, the gravy was never changed out in two days sitting in a broken crockpot, eggs are frozen patties, etc. Good: very near blue 3 bus line that goes straight to the University, good price for the area. lots of restaurants and shopping near by. If you are in town to catch a game, or move kids in or out of ISU it is serviceable.

Wr stayed here to sleep - late night arrival for an overnight rest before family gathering preceding funeral. Inexpensive and close to destination were criteria for choice. We chose 2 separate single rooms. Clean and comfortable beds were nice. Since both of our rooms were \"adjoining\" another room with unknown occupants, the arrangement was slightly unusual. My experience of waking at 4 am to very loud screaming turned out to be a horror movie playing at full volume in the adjoining room. So goes the learning curve...note to self - make sure adjoining room is occupied by the rest of my travel group!

The lobby had a very strange smell, Like some kind of food. The staff was friendly. The rooms were actually a nice surprise based on the outdatedness of the lobby. The beds were very comfortable but our tub did not drain. I told the desk and they said theyd gave it fixed but it still didn’t drain this morning.

Breakfast was not utilized because there were only 2 tables in there and I think the staff was sitting in one of them , and the other was occupied. There was no other seating so we had a coffee to go.

All in all it was ok.

The room was old and in disrepair. There was no working electrical outlet in the bathroom. There was construction going on at all hours of the day and night just above and just beside my room - even on the weekend. There were some creepy people roaming around the halls. I elected to check out early due to all these things, and the manager refused a refund for the 4 remaining days on my reservation. I had to escalate it multiple times to Expedia before I was finally given a refund. Awful experience there! I would not recommend at all!

The room is old and worn out. The towel bars were rusty. We switched rooms because there was a dirty sock in the first room. Sheets had stains on them and there was mold in the bathroom.

My room was clean but smelled like mildew and smoke. The ice machine was on the other side of my wall and I could hear people getting ice at all hours of the night. One of the exterior doors was outside my room as well and people were entering and leaving through it at all hours of the night as well. Not to mention the stairs were also very noisy. When these things were not being accessed the refrigerator in the room was extremely loud. Needless to say my sleep was very poor. I would not recommend nor stay at this hotel again for the price I was charged.

This property is DISGUSTING! Smelly, unclean, hair in beds, dirty and filthy. Staff accused me of being a smoker and a thief. First room we were given, bathroom was leaking and floor was wet - slip hazard?!? Second room we were moved to- bathroom sink does not drain. Nothing to hold toilet paper roll so none was opened, no hangers provided on hanging area, dusty and hair covering most surfaces, bed linens NOT CLEAN!!!

This is the WORST place I have ever stayed AND they charged me an extra $100 for “incidentals” - that’s when I was accused of being a smoker and told I’d o steal anything that fee would “cover” the theft. I am APPALLED and how rudely I have been treated! I feel discriminated against and racially profiled. My father - who is staying with me - is in his 80’s yet had to climb stairs to get to the room - NON ADA COMPLIANT building!

If there was availability anywhere else, I would stay there! This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!
