I always wonder about the cleanliness of the bedsheets, but Candlewood surprised me. My sheets were white and clean! There were no stains and no unwanted lint or hair. the front office staff and housecleaners were welcoming and friendly. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in La Porte.

The only thing i had issues with was when we got there the door to our room wasnt fully shut ane and we had hard time getting the door to fully close, the reason is i dont want to walk in into someone already in the room or squatters who gone through the back door and snuck into an empty room 😅 but overall it was amazing and very clean and SO QUIET

For the price point, I was expecting a much better experience.. our first room had carpet that felt damp, and cockroaches around the kitchenette.. We were then moved to a second room that had cracks in the sheetrock, and molding missing in the main room.. the bathroom cabinets were damaged, soap dispenser head was broken, tub was stained, and shower rod was rusty, and about to fall off the wall.. However, the staff was truly a pleasure to deal with (seems like they know the property has issues, and have no control of it)

Room smelled very musty, like maybe it’s a water leak issue. Sink didn’t have a rubber insert and you could see strait down into the sink drain. Linens were clean and fresh. Bathroom was clean and stocked with shampoo etc. Overall it was ok. 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Bedding was dirty, cracked walls, thin walls and ceiling can hear everyone else. My room had a new TV that didn't have the proper remote to link to the Dish box so i couldn't change channels. The wide-screen mode was incorrect and couldn't be fixed. The phone didnt work so i had to walk to the front desk and they couldn't fix the tv either. Maintenance tried the next day and they couldn't figure it out either.

1st thing I see as soon as I walk into the 1st room was a live baby roach on the kitchen table. Asked front desk for a different room on complete opposite side of hotel. Walked i to 2nd room on 2nd flr and immedietly started looking and found live adult roach in cabinet above microwave! I went back to front desk and informed him I could not stay here due to the roaches and was told I wiuld have to call Hotels.com to settle this. He stated he could tell them I wasn't charged, but I would still have to call Hotels.com. I should've taken pics of roaches but was diagusted as soon as I saw them and walked out.

It was not a good experience. The first room I was put in did not have cool air and the toilet wouldn't flush. The second room I was transferred to had a broken blow dryer and the shower didn't work. I cut my finger badly lifting up the valve for the shower.

My ax unit in my room leaked water on my floor, I notified the front desk Monday morning and they said maintenance will take a look into it, when I came back to the hotel around 4pm, I asked the lady at the front desk about it and she said she didn’t know what I was talking about and said she would have maintenance come out but no one showed up.

I only needed the room for 6 hours tops, as there were no other options i booked a stay with candlewood. I arrived a little before 12am as i enter the room the smell was beyond overwhelming. It smelled like mold/moisture. Since it's last minute and i didn't have options i stood. Attempted to heat up some food, and microwave didn't work. Worst decision was to take my shoes off as my socks stuck to the carpet i thought i could walk on walls after that. Then with the 4 hours i had to sleep something about the sheets have me a skin reaction, itching all night. Do not recommend this place at all.

The room was a good size with a full sized frig, microwave, and desk. The first room we got had a musky smell to it, maybe a little bit of smoke, although the property is non-smoking. The gentleman at the front was nice and moved us to another room which was better but still had an odd smell I couldn't put my finger on. The TV was much smaller than the other room and we couldn't raise the volume on the remote, everything else worked on it but the volume. The bathroom door had scratches/scuffs/smears which I didn't want to examine too much. The corners of the floor in the bathroom by the tub looked a little moldy. In the middle of the night when I got up to use the bathroom, I found a roach hanging out by the tub. That pretty much sealed it that I would never book this hotel again. On the surface, the hotel seemed fine but after further examination, the hotel needs lots of updates, cleaning, and attention to details.

This hotel was recommended to me by a client and I also read the reviews before I booked. The front entrance was a prelude of what was to follow (terrible). The interior smelled funky. When I went to my room, the smell was even more pungent - like it had been a smoking room, but was never properly properly de-smoked. The rooms were dirty - when I complained about my room, the night check-in clerk did take me to see four other rooms and all were in a similar state. After deciding to move to an alternate room so as not to offend the clerk, I realized that there was no way I could stay there. I checked out 30 minutes after checking in.

I cannot sing praises high enough for this hotel. In the midst of an evacuation the thing you need the most is ease and comfort. The staff at Candlewood made sure both happened for us. The bedding and pillows are exceptional, which was a real relief after a long drive. The staff made every request I had possible- far beyond anything I could have asked for. They never seemed stressed, just ready to help. The rooms are nice enough and everything worked. Thats all I could have hoped for.

Most of staff was fine but cleaning staff did not wear masks most of the time.
First impressions count! The parking lot and landscaping need a good clean up. Several things in the room were broken or in disrepair. Bathroom was okay. Kitchen area was good except a bit short on utensils. The closet smelled so mildewed I couldn’t hang my clothes in it.
Laundry area was really good. I do think they are in the process of doing some updating

The carpet was wet upon arrival and smelled like mold. We were told the room was made ready and has not been used since Hurricane Harvey..the ice maker did not work and the coffee pot was full of mold and to top it off the shower did not work. The customer service was horrible. At 1am we had to move to another room. I was told the General manager would be calling me on Monday (today) regarding these issues. No phone call and it’s 1600..I was told no credit or room credit would be offered for such a horrible stay.

This hotel had a great rate for a Saturday night stay. I was in the area for a wedding, and the Candlewood provided just enough space for my needs. I could store drinks and food in the fridge, and had enough space to use the ironing board. The queen bed was comfortable, and the employee who checked me in was incredibly helpful.

I really wanted to give this hotel a 4 star because the staff was AMAZING! Quick responses and over the top friendliness. And the amenities at this hotel were extraordinary...free laundry and dinner-unheard of! Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, clean room. The only reason I can't rate this hotel higher is because it does need some maintenance. Some of the furniture and appliances were falling apart, just because they were dated. We did see bugs, but could tell they'd recently exterminated so this may not be a common issue- plus our room was the first near the exit. I would stay again.

Hotel was comfortable. There is no pool but you are a 5 minute drive from the bay beach park which is nice. Breakfast options are limited in a little shop but coffee is free. We opted to buy food for lunches and breakfast from grocery across street. Kitchenette had 2 burners,microwave and larger refrigerator. Kemah is only 15 minute drive.

The carpet was wet. When we called the front desk they were not concerned. We asked them to come look at it. Was this a new leak or an old leak. It was 9 at night so I am thinking the desk clerk was the only staff on site. The wall AC control did not work. The toilet seat was loose. The floor in the kitchen area was slippery. We have stayed at other Candlewoods and they were fine. We think they fixed the leaking AC unit but didn't give the carpet time to dry out. This was a quick one night stay. When checking out the next morning I was asked if everything was ok. Because I was asked I told them. They said the carpet had been cleaned the day before. I replied that they used too much water if that was the reason. They listened but didn't seem very concerned.

Had a wedding to attend in La Porte, and the staff did a great job of helping me with the ease of check-in and check-out. The room was comfortable and reasonably quiet from the nearby highway. Ease of access was nice, and the Kroger across the street is good for quick snacks/groceries during the stay. If you need a hotel in the area, this would be a good, inexpensive hotel to stay at.

Nice staff and clean room. Close to the places we wanted to go and to several shopping areas. Full kitchen was very convenient. The only negative is that there was a very unpleasant and strange smell in the halls. Kind of smelling like someone was smoking something. Other than that, we loved it and would stay there again.

Nice comfortable bed good tv with a tv channel guide which really comes in handy while travelling. staff is wonderful. Only complaint is the fridge doesn't produce ice fast enough and they have no ice machine. They don't have a breakfast but you get a kitchen with available pots pans and dishes. My room had trash on the tables and trash cans, the shampoo/conditioners were used but put back in place, the cup cover was used and rinsed!!

The neighbors kept opening and closing their doors ALL night. I asked hotel for refund, but because I went through Expedia I couldn't receive a refund. I asked Expedia for a refund and didn't receive it.
