The room was clean, everything we needed was available. There were no bathrobes, but that's not critical. If you are a fan of large space, get bigger rooms. We had a standard room and so the square footage was small. By the way, the building itself was built in the 17-18 century.

Good hotel to stay and good location too with many shops near by and public transport just 5min walk. The day staff amazing always happy to help. However the night staff twice I needed help and both time they said someone will bring the item I need to my room and no one came. I had to go back down stairs to the reception to ask again or collect myself.

Good for short stay. Professional service.

Very good experience with professional service by Oskan, Khizr and later Birol and a number of others seen and unseen (cleaning staff).
I had known that the room I reserved was small but it sufficed for my short stay. The location is also convenient.
While there was no breakfast there are many cafes etc nearby to choose from.
The only negatives were the late night sounds from area clubs as well as somebody smoking close enough to my window to be a nuisance.

Very properly lighted - lobby, room, corridor. etc.
Bottled water and tea/coffee are replenished daily.
Helpful staff.
5 minutes walk to/from Taksim Square, but a bit far to/from the bus station from the Airports - street surface is not smooth, therefore, it is hard to walk to the hotel from the airport bus stop, dragging your heavy suitcase.

Wish they serve breakfast.

Great place for a single woman. Location is great because the area is safe and busy till very late/early morning. It’s very close to public transportation, so it has easy access. Plus, this hotel is actually quiet which is rare for the Taksim area.

My opinion. Okay for one night.

The room and bathroom are very small. The room was the size of a walking closet. I need it for one night and just to shower before the next flight. If you’re going to stay there book the larger room. Or, if going with family or for business, just go to bigger meetings of a brand name hotels.

It is what it is. This isn't a luxury hotel in the slightest. Reminded me of university student accommodation. BUT it is affordable and just off Taksim Square. If you want bargain accommodation and aren't bothered about it because you only really sleep in your hotel this is a great option. Stayed there for the UEFA European Super Cup and would stay there again.

it is very close to the centre and the building should have great history but the room is too small than I expected. It is not the same what I checked on the picture. I did not have chance to complain to the reception as it was last room in the hotel and it was late to check alternative options.
I am sorry but I will not prefer to stay there again.

I find the hotel very quit most of the time only on the breakfast I seen other guist,it was dark in color nor much light ,not much staff in the hotel over all it's rely ok for what I payed

Very charming, lots of cafees and close to the center. though it would have been nice to have the ability to make coffee or tea in the hotel room, as the restaurant was closed in the evening (although it should have been open). Very cheap and convenient considering the price against the location.
The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable.
Ask for a quiet room and you will not hear anything from the streets.

Convenient and comfortable

Our room was large and airy, although others in our party had a dark, smaller room. We were very happy that the windows were thick and blocked out the night noise from the neighborhood. The hotel is in an area that is crazy and loud until about 4:30 a.m. The staff were very helpful with everything.

Great location, Clean & Simple

Old school hotel located in the Taksim/Beyoglu neighborhood. The hotel was on a primary street that made it accessible to charm-filled, cobblestone, hilly neighborhoods as well as busy busy busy commercial Istiklal street. We were the neighborhood a bridge across Sultanahmet with all the historical attractions. The hotel itself supplied a solid Mediterranean \"buffet\" breakfast on a modern terrace with decent views. The rooms were on the small side but they were kept clean daily. Internet service was a tad on the slow side and though we were thankful for air conditioning it was not central and a little old fashion. Even so, this was a great value experience.

Small hotel close to Taksim Square, Istanbul

I was attending a week-long conference in Istanbul and this hotel was perfect- slightly away from the more touristy area, and therefore surrounded by more inexpensive restaurants/cafes etc. This hotel has a rooftop terrace/bar (where breakfast is served) with good views over the Bospherous and the Blue Mosque. I had a large and clean room at the back of the hotel which was quiet (I think a room at the front would be noisy as the road always appeared to be busy). Only slight complaint was that the bed was hard. With reference to other previous comments, I did not hear any noise from other neighbouring bedrooms.

I would highly recommend this hotel- great value for money and has more local character than larger chain hotels. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel lets itself down. Stayed as a couple but was only given 1 key. When I returned alone and without the key I was intially told I couldnt get into the room, after an argument I was reluctantly let in but was denied a power card and had to sit in the dark until my wife returned

The breakfast had everything we wanted and more - plenty to satisfy - and the setting in the rooftop terrace was very relaxing. The only complaint is that I found the bed too hard and therefore had a disturbed and uncomfortable night.

Nice stay close to Taskim

This hotel was close to Taskim square and the shopping avenue, but was very noisy on the Friday and Saturday night we stayed. The breakfast was not oo bad, just simple. Galata tower was anout a 15 minute walk away and Hagia Sophia was about another 10 minutes from there. All in all, i enjoyed my stay here.

Enjoyed the hotel, enjoyed Istanbul and had no problems. Hotel is clean, facilities reasonable and roof terrace is great for breakfast. Staff are friendly but did not speak much English, or let's say we did not speak Turkish! Would go back again without hesitation.

Taksim square riots?? - I couldn't hear them!!

Very reasonable price, cool rooftop bar/restaurant and reasonable breakfast - my room had no window to outside world only into internal area, however temperature easily controlled and amazingly despite proximity to taksim square with thousands of people rioting (june 2013) was not able to hear a peep - good nights sleep. Overall a good hotel at the price I paid.

Money-obsessed manager spoilt the experience

This hotel is in the perfect place in Taksim and has several good things about it: staff (although fewer than half of them spoke English); location, just a few minutes walk from Taksim Metro stop, 15 minutes from Findikli and 20 minutes from Tophane. The area seemed safe. However, some things just soured the experience: the walls are paper-thin and there is also a vent that provides excellent sound quality to the adjacent rooms; the room is a reasonable size made to look bigger by a 3/4 size bed; the choice of room is either at the front next to a very loud road or at the back with a view into neighbouring rooms (and vice-versa); shampoo and cheap, horrible soap is provided (no shower gel available); as we had travelled we requested an iron so we could wear our clothes - the manager insisted that we MUST use the hotel's service (paying, for example 2.50Euro to iron a shirt) even though it could not be done on-site and we would effectively be without clothes for our first day AND the receptionist said there was an iron there that she just couldn't give to us! Breakfast was very basic, but edible. Overall, I think the manager's attitude - including the fact that receiving his kickbacks from external services is more important than providing a good holiday experience - stinks so badly that people should try to find another hotel in the area. I felt sorry for his staff and the area was good, hence the overall '2' rating.

If you find something else, go for it

The hotel is ok. However, you can hear everything happening in all the other rooms. We could hear the people staying in the room next to us all night. You could also hear the music in Taksim square but it was not too bad, the issue were the people next door.
This was the most expensive hotel we paid for on our whole trip around Turkey and it was not a GREAT experience. But, we understand Taksim square is more expensive and it was right before new years.

Good location with noise

It is difficult to encapsulate some specific issues in the context of \"Cleanliness of your room\" or Condition and upkeep of the hotel. So let me get to the specifics. One the room itself was nice enough. It is the bathroom I had an issue with. In my room the toilet bowl was very close to the shower door to make it a bit uncomfortable to enter the shower. But I really did not like however was the fact that there were gaps between the tiles on the shower floor and around the water drain also on the floor. These gaps were dark and they probably had mold (not a good thing!). The other major issue was the noise level coming from the night club down across the street from the hotel. It kept me up until 3 am. My room overlooked the street and was on the third floor, so one could assume that other rooms in the back would not hear the noise as much. But I am writing about my room. As to the rest the place was nice enough with old fashioned wood panelling and floors and clean. The hotel is located very close to Taksim square and Istikal St (a shopping, entertainment, eating area in the new part of town).

We didn't like that the cleaners are men , and we found it a mistake that one of the cleaners opened the cupboard where we hanged our clothes, to put the covers inside. Some of the receptionist were not helpful and even gave us a wrong information about the place from where we can make the bosphore trip which could have made us to miss our plane and we didn't have enough time to make our tax free documents

Great Stay

The hotel was a pleasant suprise after reading some of the comments by others who have stayed there.First night was in a front room facing the street with a faulty airconditioner but a request for room change to a room towards the back was done without any problems. Staff polite and spoke reasonable english.I stayed 10 nights and the hotels close proximity to Taksim and other locations for the price was excellent.
Breakfast was OK any no excuse not to stay with the myriad of eateries around the hotel.
The windows and doors in both rooms I stayed in were double glazed and some were still being installed in rooms so the rooms are much quieter.
Funicular 5 min walk and connects to T1 tram whiches goes to Sultanamhet I found easier than bus.Would happily stay again.

lovely little hotel in the heart of the city

Excellent location, and despite being in a noisy district near Taksim Square, I asked for a quiet room and was given one at the back, which was indeed very quiet. My room was huge and very comfortable. bathroom small but adequate. The rooftop terrace was superb, shame there was no bar in the hotel but there's a supermarket just down the road so easy enough to bring your own drinks. Shame they closed the rooftop terrace at night though, it would have been nice to sit up there with a drink in the evening too.

Hotel Vardar Istanbul: good hotel, good location

My single room was very large, but that could have been the luck of the draw. In any case, it was a very nice, confortable, clean and spacious room, with very nice rest rooms/ shower. That is after all the most important.
The second most important aspect is the location, and there again the hotel scores very good, imho: at walking distance from Taksim, and really close from all of the Beyoglu bars and restaurants.
A slight drawback was the included breakfast and breakfast room, and also the lack of a bar and/or terrace which could have lurred me to another hotel...
Overall, though, I was very happy.

Vardar palace, very nice place for a fair price

I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Vardar palace hotel. Staff in the reception was very helpful. The rooms were clean and there were extra blankets and pillows. The hotel is located just by Taksim square in the very centre of Istanbul. From there you can easily take the metro anywhere you want.
On the downside the hotel walls are not very well insulated and I could hear my neighbours (especially in the bathroom). The breakfast was not served until 7.30 and was nothing special, but not bad either.

Very pleased with the service, location and room. Older updated Turkish Hotel, very large clean rooms. Front desk staff very accomodating holding our luggage on early arrival. Transportation a couple minutes walk to all major tourist sites. Exciting area on the weekend, may be too noisy for some through the night as the city doesn't sleep. But is gave the experience of Turkish life...lots of great affordable restaurants right out the front door. Stayed only one night and it was an enjoyable experience all around.

Good hotel near Taksim Square

The hotel was very nice. Clean, air conditioned rooms. Free and reliable wireless internet access. Generous breakfast buffet included in room price. Short walk to Taksim Square and Istiklal. Easy access to Havas airport shuttle. Will very likely stay there when next in Istanbul. Only gripe is that room/amenities description indicates iron/ironing board availability on request, but these are not in fact available.

Vardar Palace - Excellent Staff, Great Location

Everyone who worked at the Vardar Palace was incredibly friendly and helpful, recommending restaurants, Turkish bathhouses, learning our names and asking how our day went. The rooms are spacious and clean - the only downside is that the pillows are a bit hard. But besides that, you can't beat this hotel!

The only thing going for the hotel is its location (close to taksim square and the busy istiklal street). Other than that, the hotel is fairly average and it cannot be a 4 star hotel as publicized. The receptionist was very unhelpful. I asked him when I first arrived how to get to taksim square (which is about 150-200 meters away) and he suggested I take a cab! I asked another one later for which tram station to use to go to another area of istanbul and he simply suggested the cab again and suggested that I read the signs in the metro station (all the signs are in turkish!!)

Small hotel in a conveniant location

The hotel is perfectly located for restaurants and night life of the Taksim area. The top sight seeing spots (Ayasofia, Blue Mosque etc) can be easily reached by public transport in about 30 minutes. Galata tower is walking distance (20 minutes). The location is great.

The rooms are either to the courtyard or the street. The opposite walls of the courtyards are pretty close, so no view and just a bit of light, at least these rooms are pretty quiet. You have to take a view whether you expect to be in your room for anything else than a night's sleep, in which case you should choose another hotel.

Room and bathroom was clean. Wifi worked fine.

The breakfast is rather according to local habbits, some cheese, coffee, tea, juice, boiled egg, not fancy but gives you a kick start.

Big fail for me: I booked a non-smoking room, but got a smoking room. But I understand expedia is to blame rather than the hotel. If you are serious about this, better send an email to the hotel after booking, so that they know for sure your preference.

Great location and price!

Great hotel near hopping location - Istiklal Caddessi. Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Back of hotel rooms don't have a good view, but that's not where you go to see the sites of Istanbul anyway. Good breakfast with plenty of food. Just no parking offered, which is typical of an Istanbul hotel.

Vardar Palace in Istanbul, great location

Well located, nice staff, decent facilities. They didn't have a safe at the concierge, which is important for me to leave my passport, etc. However, I left them in an envelop that put on a draw with a key and worked well. Only elevator was broken when checking out at 5am and they didn't put a sign, so I have to wait until realized that. Staff pick up the luggage for me.

Rooms are very large. Staff is friendly. Breakfast buffet is amazing. Great location near Taksim square! Very close to the metro and bus station.

Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner and everything smelled a bit musty. No smoking rooms had obviously been smoked in, but that is probably the case for all of Turkey.

Overall, a great stay for your money.

The staff at the Vardar Palace take very good care of their establishment, and offer a nice Turkish/continental breakfast. Their service was excellent overall. However, the walls are worse than paper - it's like there aren't any walls. That is my only complaint: if you have neighbors, you will hear *everything* they are doing. If you have noisy neighbors, then it will be a noisy stay.

Equipe muito simpatica e auxiliam com tudo que voce precisar. Localizacao excelente, perto de restaurantes, lojas e transporte publico. Rua movimentada o tempo todo, me senti seguro na rua e no hotel. Unico ponto negativo é o barulho entre os quartos e quando chegam hospedes no corredor, ouve tudo dentro do quarto. Mas dormi super bem e tranquilo. Ar condicionado e aquecimento funcionam perfeitamente.

탁심광장에서 가까워서 공항버스 지하철 버스 푸니쿨라 등등 이용하기 너무 편해요 근처 관광지도 다 걸어서 갈 수 있어요 5분거리에 병원 약국 슈퍼 등등 편의시설도 다 있습니다 직원들도 정말 친절하고 호텔 침구가 너무 푹신해서 잘잤어요 위치 서비스 청결 가격 모든면에서 정말정말 최고에요
