Staff are friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast has really good choices. The food is delicious also when eating from the lunch/dinner menu. The hotel has a modern interior and lovely seating area near the pool to relax. Location was perfect and central for our needs.

My first time using and it was delightful. It needs a taxi or an Uber but once you are there it wonderful.
There does appear to be some renovations going on, but it did not affect our one night stop. Recommended!

Disappointing service at city lodge Barbara Edenva

I booked for the non smoking and they allocated us a smoking room and my partner had flu. When I asked if they can transfer us to Midrand waterfall they said it's impossible.
Secondly Uber eat guy was not allowed to deliver to the door meanwhile in waterfall they do delivery with no hassles. Patient didn't even call us at the room that there is a delivery for us if they're not allowing Uber guys to walk in. What are the rooms phones for. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE OF CITY LODGE BARBARA. I'M CONSIDERING TELLING ALL MY COLLEAGUES AT SARS NOT TO GO THERE AS I DOUBT I'LL EVER COME BACK AFTER THIS. I'm truly disappointed with City Lodge Barbara Edenvale. Service is so very low and not up to standard at all. I'm not sure if the guys are not trained how to handle visitors I'm really not sure and the price for the rooms are more expensive than Midrand but service and the room conditions is far far away different. Why is that? Why are we treated like that I'm so disappointed ☹️☹️☹️

Decent price, rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Soaker tub was really nice. While only a few minutes' drive away, this is not *at* JNB airport. There is *a* City Lodge at JNB, but not this one, and you have to pay to take the shuttle or Uber. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. Also - why are there no fridges in the rooms?

No elevater had to carry own luggage up stairs. Not for older lady travellers.
I don't like to complain, but I would never stay there again. Ist room had bed bugs, I always check before i even take my shoes off! Yes got another room. They were kind and supportive about that. Just didn't need the drama. Also no telepnone calls when my husband called. I was asked to talk to hubby on reception desk he would be calling again in 10 minutes.

They had a nice water view from the dining areas and we were told that at times they have had hippos gather there. We did get to see any but would have loved to get to experience it. Definitely will need to plan a second visit.

It was not great. I was first given a \"non smoking \" room, however, it was smelling tobacco.
I had to call the receptionist for another room. The later did not have signal at all.
The cleaners woke me up at 08h00 and I could not understand why they would do such a thing.

Victor at ORTambo arranged for my booking to be transferred for which I was truly appreciative following a long journey from Toronto. I’ve stayed here before and glad to see the rooms remain as clean as before. Brilliant customer service.

Nice and peaceful place

Used to be a great hotel but has lost some of its glitter. The rooms are clean, the global setup is nice and a small but well-tended inner garden adds the special City Lodge cachet.

The service is quite good but could be better. The restaurant was average but the waiters were really nice. Overall, a good experience but I have stayed there before and it was great. This time, I guess that Covid has had its deleterious effect here as it had on many other hotels.

I've stayed here a few times. A few bug-bears which are becoming increasingly annoying
Why dont Management install an iron/ironing board in each room. Trying to get one is a painful process. Try calling housekeeping at 06h00 in the morning, phone rings unanswered, as did Reception and duty manager. When finally delivered I was asked to place it back outside the room as they dont have many to go around!
The internet was down for over a week - no back-up plan in place??
Room cards work intermittently (ongoing problem). Try walking all the way to one of the far rooms, and then having to return to Reception again to get it sorted - very irritating.
Lastly regarding the gym - a second treadmill would be great and please use thin paper cups rather than polystyrene - they are inefficient and hamrful to the environment.

I thought the hotel was on the airport property..and then had to catch a shuttle ..didnt feel at all safe standing waiting fir the shuttle or getting to this hotel. I was amazed when I had to pay for the shuttle..other hotels offer a free service.

We took the shuttle (at 10pm after a delay on our flight) nobody told me it has a cost, then I found it has. When we (3) arrived I was given a room that had no sofa bed, when I told the reception they would not listen, even after I took a picture.My explanation that we leave at five am did not help. Only after the maid came to make the noon existing bed they started the room change.
In our way back to the airport we took a taxi that cost a third of the shuttle.

This hotel is perfectly adequate, with its friendly staff and clean rooms. I stayed for one night and felt safe and comfortable. My transfer to Johannesburg airport was arranged by hotel reception staff and it cost almost half of the cost of a taxi.

This hotel is ideally positioned for a quick stopover. My flight landed too late to catch a connecting flight and I had to catch a very early flight the following morning. The staff were friendly and welcoming and my room was clean and comfortable. Did not have the need for anything else so was perfect for my requirements.

Excellent breakfast w/all good quality items (perfect croissants, smoked salmon, lychee juice, many jams/jellies, many options of eggs made individually upon request, two types of sausages, etc). Good quality sheets and napkins, pool towels available on each recliner, lots of good fabrics on decoration, good TV channels w/good movies, cozy environment, attentive professional personnel - all shows that this property belongs to a professional and experienced chain of hotels - congratulations, highly recommend it.
