Room is clean and confortable. Could do with a bit brighter lighting option. And the room is quite warm, even with the thermostat off. Perfect with the window open though which is fine as long as it isn’t noisy (which it hasn’t been).

We had a great room with a balcony. We stayed there the 3 nights. Breakfast, which was included, was fantastic. The hotel is very well located yet not too close to the main tourist streets which are more noisy. Would go again if back Palermo.

This is a 2 star property at best. It’s not updated, the mattress is hard, pillows are flat, the bathtub/shower is a safety hazard. They will not allow children in the pool. Sucked all around. You can also hear the neighbors breathe.

Beautiful older hotel with great style

A stately old hotel in a convenient location in Palermo. While the rooms
were not chique modern up to date, accomodations were good with very large rooms and bathooms. I always like non carpeted rooms for hygenic reasons. The hotel is within a few minutes walking distance from the airport bus ( Note: do NOT take the train, it takes longer and requires a taxi to the hotel also)

Booked through a tour group that we did a 9 day tour of Sicily with and we added a day. Excellent hotel. Bed hard but had a good sleep! On first visit beautiful huge shower but floor very slippery - laid towels on the floor so we didn't fall. Great breakfast.

Could do better for a 4 star hotel.

Beautiful hotel in need of modernasation. Our executive room was good size but dark and the carpet smelly. I had to leave the door open when we first entered the room. There was no plugs next to the bedside tables and my husband who suffers from apnea couldn’t use his night respiratory machine. Toilettery products were minimal, however towels were of good quality. The toilet seat and bidet were very low and difficult for me to use as I suffer from knee arthritis.
Breakfast was disappointing. Better than nothing, but very disappointing for a 4 star hotel.
Staff at the reception were not very communicative and gave us minimal information.
The only very positive thing about this hotel is its location which is perfect.

Quiet hotel in a central location

Our stay was an extremely pleasant experience. The room was a lovely size for a junior suite and the bathroom was more than comfortable for two people to use at once. The only real elements we found lacking were: bathrobes - there were none in the room which we thought was a shame. Information - I have never stayed in a hotel where the basic housekeeping information is lacking. Only details provided were numbers for reception/room service and the restaurant times for lunch and dinner. A welcome pack would have been.. well.. welcome!

The hotel, staff and location was exactly what we'd hoped for. It was our only night in Palermo and it was a great experience. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious!!! My only bit of advice, nothing to do with hotel, is for Americans to bring Euros with you. There is nowhere to exchange dollars into Euros-even at the local banks. Ciao!

We stayed in two different rooms on two different trips and had two very different experiences. The first room was small. The air conditioning was not very efficient and the water pressure in the shower was weak. The second room we stayed in was the complete opposite. The room and bathroom were very spacious the air conditioning worked perfectly and the water pressure in the shower was just as it should be. But the staff have been extremely helpful at all times and the hotel location is very central. The breakfast was good and had a wide choice of food.

NIGHTMARE in Palermo 2017

I never write reviews, but this place was horrible. The elevator was broken, air conditioning didn't work, ants were in the room (in the bed) AND the water shut off all within 3 days of our stay. When we called the staff regarding the air conditioning, the maintenance guy was pretty mean saying \"this is as cold as it gets\". The room was swealtering and my wife was 6 months pregnant at the time. We asked to speak with the manager during our checkout re all issues, but he wouldn't even speak to us because he said we already paid so it wasn't worth his time. It as hard to find a hotel in palermo at this price point without a bad review, but I would have rather gambled on the other hotels in retrospect because this hotel/staff ruined our trip completely.

Slow cleaning service at check in

When I checked in I asked for a room away from the elevator do they moved me. However, this room hadn't been cleaned. I told the front desk as I left for to eat. They said it would be less that ban hour. I came back about an hour later. Still not cleaned. I reminded them. I came back 7 hours later and my room at 4:30 was still not cleansed from the previous guest. Other than this and being under the noisy restaurant it was a nice hotel.

Nice hotel, but some noise issues to resolve

The hotel Frederico II has a lot of positives. It's right in the hotel district, behind the more famous large hotels in Palermo. As other reviewers noted, it's located in a side street, which reduces traffic noise considerably. The hotel looks like it was recently renovated, and my room was gorgeous. The staff were all very friendly, and the breakfast/restaurant were stylish and pleasant. You an walk to the station in about 20 minutes, and visit all the main tourist attractions on foot. However, there were some noise issues - I just don't expect bouts of loud bangs and scrapings between 11 and 12 at night. I have to report that the noises subsided in the wee hours, though they resumed fairly early in the morning. I couldn't figure out the exact cause - maybe a problem with an elevator, or staff doing some work? I hope the hotel can address these issues, because this would be an excellent choice otherwise.

Close to bus service to Monte Pellegrino and Mondello beach, also Palermo hop on/off tour bus. Plenty of restaurants and cafés around. Symphony is not to be missed only 5 mins from hotel and opera house 'Massimo' approximately 10mins. Don't be put off by back street location, we were out every night and felt very safe. Hotel was very nice and rooms were clean. Breakfast was just fine, buffet style with bacon,eggs, toast, yoghurt, fruit and wonderful pastries with coffee served by waiter! Only negative was the bed, mattress was very hard...something the hotel should consider reviewing.

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel. The location of this hotel is perfect, its situated in the down town of Palermo, close to the main attractions, main streets and central train and bus station. The hotel stuff is very kind a helpful. Rooms are clean. Hotel is situated on a less noisy street witch is a big plus in Palermo. Breakfast is OK, even if it's everyday the same.

The hotel reception staff were extremely efficient and pleasant at all times, as were the dining room staff. The arrangements for parking our hired car were an important service in crowded Palermo. Unfortunately expensive perfume left in the car overnight went missing. The breakfast was good , but could have provided more fibre, a common problem with mainland European food.
The room was kept very clean and though on the street front of the hotel, was very quiet as the hotel is in a cul de sac.
Overall, a very pleasnt week's stay.

Lovely hotel, great location

Found the hotel and checked in easily. Room & facilities were lovely and clean, towels were changed everyday. A bigger bath mat would have been useful as the shower sprayed water all over the floor which made it slippery. The shower itself was great, and the bath was perfect for relaxing after a long day walking around the city. Bed was huge and very comfy. The air conditioning was essential and a great relief after the June heat outside.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing. The carb options were fairly tasty but considering the amount of fresh fruit available on the markets, there was little of it on display at breakfast and that which was offered was not ripe. Considering the heat a lighter option would have been nice. Staff at breakfast were very cheery though, and remembered my husband's cappuccino each day without being prompted.
The location was good for finding somewhere to eat in the evening as the next street along had several options with great food.

Central Palermo with helpful staff

We had a great room with vaulted ceiling. This was ideal for the three of us - our daughter had a roll out bed in the dressing area. One small issue - there was no shower curtain / screen and so the bathroom floor got a good dousing!
The staff were most helpful and recommended an excellent place for dinner which we subsequently revisited for lunch.

Great hotel in prime location, great staff

we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel; it's a little dated but upkeep is very good and the place is full of charm and character. two minute walk to a pedestrian street lined with cafes and high-end shops. also a short walk to several great restaurants and to the port, where you can grab the hydrofoil to Ustica. a longer walk -- or short cab ride -- to the old part of palermo, definitely worth a visit.

The furniture in our room were a bit tired looking, could do with refurbishment. Bed was very hard. The air conditioning unit rattled all night...at least it worked in our room. There was no air conditioning working in the hall way. Towels were a bit old & worn. Reception Staff were pleasant enough, not particularly friendly. Breakfast was ok, restaurant staff very pleasing. Bathroom flooded every time I took a shower.
A disappointing 4 star...

The staff was welcoming and did a quick check in. Arriving to the room we saw a complimentary wine bortle. that was a very special detail! There was a little noise on top of our room because the restaurant was on top of us but not to disturbing. complimentary wifi is always good! The rooms are spacious and Well decorated. The bathrooms are very clean and pretty. The hotel from the outside didnt look as nice but the inside was better. The location is excellent! A few blocks from teatro Massimo and the best shopping stores. 2 blocks from the hop on hop off bus. The only negative was the breakfast.

A Taste of Historic Palermo

The hotel itself is on a quiet street, Via Principe di Granatelli, very near to the central square of Palermo, Piazza Castelnuovo, . The hotel is spacious and gracious in appearance. The rooms are large, with high ceilings and a very pleasing level of furnishings. There was a large wardrobe and plenty of shelf and drawer space. The bathroom was large and attractive with marble tops and a powerful shower. The linen was good quality cotton and fresh every day.

The staff were very agreeable and helpful, both at reception and in the dining area where we breakfasted. The breakfast provided was extensive and it appeared to us that all tastes were catered for. I enjoyed the eggs and bacon followed by fresh fruit, whilst my partner enjoyed her yoghurt and a variety of the fruit slices on offer.

There were no coffee making facilities in the room and, as we were staying ten nights, we bought a cheap electric kettle and cafetiere but Carrefour, a supermarket on the nearby Via della Liberta had an electric coffee maker for 34 euros.

I think the aspecst of the hotel that we most liked was its spaciousness and decor. The wood panelling in the reception area was impressive.

We would definitely recommend this hotel and intend to return.

Cleaner is lovely and goes out of her way to make sure the room is clean.
For breakfast the waiter and waitress were lovely and very helpful.
Cefalu on the train is worth visiting and mondello beach.
Opentop bus tour not really worth it can walk to most places of interest around Palermo.

Good hotel in a good location

I was very pleased with this hotel. We had two rooms - 606 had a balcony which was really nice to have, although the view was so-so. The other room on the fourth floor was smaller and the air conditioning did not work that well. The staff spoke English and they were very nice. They have valet parking for a fee. Location was convenient - we walked to the mercados and to Capella Palatine but that walk was about 20 minutes. There is a nightclub down the street but it was not loud at all. The only bad part was finding this hotel - it is on a small side street. I would book here again.

Central location that allows walking to most visiting sites. The hotel is rated 4-star, but I would give it three. The front-desk staff speaks English; breakfast is good, nothing fancy but it serves its purpose. The bathroom looks better on the website. On our last day there, we decided to change our plane tickets and called Alitalia for around 10 minutes. We were charged 85Euro for the phone call (changing the tickets cost us 50Euro/person) and that left a bitter taste. We traveled with an 8-year old and the room had a king bed and a sofa bed. If you plan on using the sofa bed, ask for additional pillows and sheets. The fitness facility is a bit run down. All in all, it's a clean hotel but not 4-star material.

Good but not fantastic

The room was large and beautiful and the service was friendly. I would expect a little more competent service for a 5 star hotel when we asked for help in communicating with some agency. The negative part was that the hotel is located in front of a bar that stays noisy until very late (around 2:00 AM). We wanted to keep the window open since they keep the room a little bit to hot for us and we could not do it due to the noise. The breakfast was good but not outstanding. In general, I would recommend for a friend.

Mattresses far too hard.

Hotel service could not be faulted. Clean towels and sheets every day. Staff really helpful. However the bed was too hard and the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The hotel was in a central location near the Teatro Politiamo.

What an incredible hotel! Great location, right in the centre of the city, close to many restaurants offering very typical Palermitan dishes. The breakfast is excellent with ample food. A big \"grazie\" must go to the hotel staff. They were friendly, helpful and very professional. Thank you especially to Signora Marisa who did indeed give us the best room in the hotel. This hotel was well worth the money.

Fantastic location, great hotel

Stayed for 3 nights and was very impressed with everything. Large room, mini bar (not too expensive) and arrived to find a complimentary bottle of wine in the room. Needed extra pillows which were brought to us straight away. Great location in Palermo, near to bus stops for airport and sight seeing, but in a quiet street. Would definitely go back there again.

We were fully satisfied

We stayed in a hotel at the beginning of this January. It was just an escape from cold and humid winter to a warmest place in Europe - just vacations, no business, no todo's, no long preparations. We decided that everything we need to know we'll know upon arrival, so choosed this hotel for its location, free wifi internet and general star level. And no regrets for this decision.

Hotel is clean. Of course, white in carpets was not snow-white, but it was really clean. Room was really spacious, bathroom was enough big and with window. It were two wardrobes upon arrival, but since one was not used during first day, it was removed...

Hotel is quiet some days of the week (American restaurant is still across the street), but you can close the window (it's easy in winter), and there are still a lot of rooms with windows to another street.

Breakfast is good. To tell more - the best scrambled eggs and especially ham slices outside USA. Good choice of pastries, 2-3 types of cheese, yoghurts, cereals, coffee of your choice, friendly staff.

Internet was free and speedy, you only need to ask for login/pass at reception, you can do this by phone. During weekend we rented a car, and were very surprised that hotel parking on these days was free of charge.

If you'll add 2 blocks to Via Roma, 1/2 block to Via Marqueda, 2 blocks to Politeama and Massima and 30 Euros to Mondello beach by taxi (note there is no beach in Palermo!) - you'll agree that Federico II is what you need.

Hotel is centrally located few metres away from Via Roma and Via della Liberta'. Parking facilities excellent, considering the fact that, it is impossible to park in Palermo. We were two families of four each.Fitness facilities could have been better (no tread mill) . Service was excellent. Prossima volta a Palermo, prossima volta allo stesso albergo.

Great location!

The hotel's location is great, very close to the main shopping/restaurant area, Via Settimo Ruggero. Extremely helpful hotel staff, great breakfast buffet and
Views from the room are disappointing but rooms are spacious.
