Elegant and convenient.

I thought this hotel was off the beaten track, but it is across from a metro station, and the trains here run every 3 minutes or so, which meant I was not very far away from the art museums time-wise. My room was large, quiet and clean, and the front desk attendants were uniformly warm and helpful. The ambience was elegant without being opulent. There is a restaurant on site with a three choice menu. It is frequented by locals, which made me feel less of a tourist! Highly recommended!

This is a lovely hotel with helpful staff. It’s very convenient to the metro and to Chamartín train station. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The surrounding area is walkable and has conveniences such as cafes and a grocery store across the street. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately this hotel is not great. I’m unsure of the other ratings, especially those who remarked this hotel is quiet. All rooms face out into an atrium with a bar/restaurant. It was so loud in our room, we could hardly believe it. Everything echoed into our room, you could hear conversations and clanging of dishes late into the night, and then again early in the morning. Room itself was clean but uncomfortable bed. Location is across street from subway but it’s a long way into the museums, etc. We knew this when we booked this hotel- we waited to the last minute and there weren’t many other options, so we paid the inflated price for two nights here. Hard to imagine this is a four star hotel, it’s more like a two star. Wouldn’t stay here again.

The hotel is across the street to the metro and a supermarket. However, it is 30 min metro away (1 transition) to downtown area. Most difficult part is it does not have the AC during the night that was pretty hot even in April. We cannot open the windows as it is close to a main street. Since it is not in downtown, most restaurants are not open for dinner till 8 or 8:30pm.

The hotel is located near a main road, but it has not an extreme traffic. Just in front of the hotel there is a metro station and bus station, so you do not need a car or taxi to get anywhere in Madrid fast, even at night. On the other side of the street there is an Alcampo (spanish Auchan), good place to buy things of everyday spanish life, not the ones sold for tourists. At Plaza del Peru - some minutes of walk - there are good restaurants.
The hotel has a classic style, the rooms can be opened by key and not card. The building is new, but stylish, it resembles the old spanish ones, it uses the roofed patio as a dining room. Breakfast was fine.
My room was cosy and big compared to an average hotel room. There are just small problems I should mention. First, sound proofing. Fortunately, there is a minimal traffic in the street at night, it does not disturb sleeping, the noises from the corridor or tubes are not too strong near the bed, however, the music played daytime from speakers in the ceiling of the corridor is sometimes disturbing, too loud. The bubble bath presented in the photos did not work. However, the staff was very kind and helpful. I booked the room with continental breakfast but there were buffet breakfasts - I did not had to pay any extra fee. The real estimation of the hotel is 4 1, one minus for the technical problems hoped to be repaired at the next renovation and one plus for the staff and the service that is better than expectable. Highly recommended.

This hotel might be off the beaten track, but it's across the street from a metro stop that goes to 2 main stops for transfers: Plaza Castilla and Avenida America. You can get anywhere in 15 minutes or less. The area has no energy or action, but who cares! And the property is beautiful in a simple, classical way. I'll come back.

Through those doors is a beautiful atrium for sitting in comfy chairs to read, visit, or have a drink from the bar, which is at the other end of the atrium. The room was large and very comfortable. The hot water is good and hot, and the tub has very good grab bars and fixtures. Exceptionally convenient to metro and for shopping. Nice residential neighborhood. Superb staff! Highly recommend this hotel.

A good and relatively affordable option. It is in a slightly out-of-the-way neighbourhood near Chamartin station. Not much going on around the hotel, but it’s very convenient for Pio XII metro station. Room was very clean and comfortable, if slightly basic for the star rating. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The bar area in the glass roofed atrium looked nice although I didn’t use the bar. Most of the rooms have no views to speak of, as the hotel is built on a narrow site with other buildings either side. Very comfortable for the price.

A great place to stay while exploring Madrid

What a perfect location to see all of Madrid’s wonderful sights. The bus stop is practically at the front door, the metro station is directly across the street. Using one or both will get you into the cities attractions and the metro will drop you off at the airport terminal. The hotel itself is first class, service is great and the staff is very helpful. We really enjoyed our time at this hotel. One thing, the WiFi kept kicking us off line and was very weak. Could have been our distance from the router.

Lovely break near Madrid city centre.

Perfect place for relaxing. Very quiet hotel. Right beside Pio XII metro and 150 bus route into city centre.
Felt a bit awkward arriving in at 10.30 from Madrid city centre and looking for a drink. Though bar staff were very accommodating. It was so quiet we drank up and went to bed.
Great to be able to leave luggage when we had an evening flight.

The hotel is in a great location & just a few metro stops away from MAD airport.
The staff were all friendly & helpful, especially the receptionist, she answered all our questions & was really nice.
The breakfast is nice, variety of hot & cold items & the rooms are spacious.
Would definitely recommend & stay there again if I was to go back.

Beautiful hotel, and located in close proximity to the centre. The Madrid Metro is right outside so access everywhere is simple.

Done great places to eat locally but the hotel food is very good. The staff are so very helpful and certainly another hotel I would stay at again.

NB the bar is amazing, aesthetically, worth seeing as is the whole of the main interior, looks brilliant.

Oh, and this hotel is clean, great room service if you have OCD like my partner.

First of all I want to give a praise to the Hotel staff who were so friendly and helpful.
Hotel is located across street from a supermarket that is also conjoined to a churreria n McDonald's . Great for breakfast. Metro is across the street and getting to the downtown very easy and fast. Rooms were very spacious and my only complaint would be that the bed I thought was very hard.
Would definitely come back.

I had a wonderful time here. Firstly the location is very handy as it's right next to the metro station.
Inside, the hall is a great place to relax, read, eat and have a cup of tea in pleasant surroundings.
The room itself is large and spacious. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is in good condition.
This area of Madrid isn't overly busy so you'll get a good night's sleep.
Overall, the hotel is well worth a stay.

It was a pleasant stay. Service at the desk was great. The room is large and the bed is firm (which I like). The bathroom was kind of compact with a toilet and bidet, and the grout/caulk could use some updating. But it was clean. The courtyard area is \"cute\" according to my wife!

Easy 20 minute bus ride to Madrid center. Metro is right there, too, but we didn't take that.

In my travels I prefer to stay in small hotels or B and B's. I looked on Google and found web site for Don Pio in Madrid. There was no deception on the web site, it was all as advertised. I was traveling from Toulouse to Dallas and did not want to leave 6AM from Toulouse to catch the 11AM, 10 hour long Madrid flight to Dallas. I arrived 4PM Sunday by Taxi from airport which took only 15 minutes and did not go over the 30E base fair. The return trip to airport was on Monday at 8AM and only took 15 minutes and 30E also. The ride is only on 6 street blocks and then express ways the rest of the distance to airport.
The evening meal was an excellent salad with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pasta, olives and tuna, dressed with excellent olive oil and vinegar. I ordered what I thought was a main course of cured ham, but got a ham and cheese sandwich instead, but I then realized my poor Spanish caused the problem and the sandwich was good.
The room was beautiful, clean and well laid out and appointed, the mattress was excellent and I can not fault the room on anything. The bathroom was spotless, excellent water temperature control. Combination bathtub and shower with water jets in the tub.
The breakfast was also excellent, all the meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, eggs, and fruit that you would want or expect with Spanish style.
The receptionists were neatly dressed, attractive and pleasantly helpful. They made sure the taxi was there at the appointed time and inform

We spent 2 nights at Don Pio in Madrid and it was perfect. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is very elegant - but not stuffy. It is a charming hotel with lots of wood and light. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The location is perfect because there is a bus stop out front and a metro stop across the street. On the suggestion from one of their nice desk clerks, we took the bus all the way down to Puerta del Sol so we had a nice tour of the city on the way. They have a small bar in the hotel and it was really relaxing to stop in and have a drink when we got back each night.

O hotel em geral é muito bom, o quarto é bem espaçoso e é localizado próximo a pontos de interesse. Tem um ponto de metrô e um supermercado gigante na frente, que da pra tomar café também.
O que deve ser tomado cuidado, é com relação a pedir itens do cardápio. Se for pedir para trazer no quarto tem acréscimo do valor (que não tinha sido informado)

It is a really nice hotel located just in front of a subway station and a big supermarket. The rooms are huge with really good seating space where you can work, read, write or anything you are into.

The food is good and the personnel always helpful, the room was very clean with hairdryer.

If you are looking for a hotel near the most iconic touristic landmarks, this is not for you. However, we were there for a wedding and it was greatly located or if you are staying for business, it is also near one of the main office corridors.

Abgewirtschaftet und unkomfortabel

Das Hotel hat den Charme vergangener Tage. Der Gast wird von einem großzügigen Atrium mit Glaskuppel begrüßt. Manchen mag das gefallen. Auf den zweiten Blick ist das Hotel allerdings arg heruntergewirtschaftet und bedarf dringend einer Renovierung.

Positive anzumerken sind die großzügigen Zimmer. Das Frühstück war nach mitteleuropäischem Maßstab durchschnittlich, für Südeuropa ganz gut. Damit hört es aber auch schon auf.

Leider überwiegen die negativen Punkte. Am meisten aufgestoßen ist mir, dass es konstant im Badezimmer nach Abfluss gestunken hat. Es half auch nichts, alle Abflüsse mit Wasser zu füllen. Der Duschkopf war zu niedrig, ich habe mit 1,87 nicht darunter gepasst.

Das Fenster im Zimmer konnte man zwar weit öffnen, allerdings ließen sich die Vorhänge nicht vernünftig zur Seite schieben, so dass sie das Fenster immer wieder zudrückten. Im Zimmer gab es nur vier Steckdosen, so dass ich immer wieder Nachtleuchten, Deckenfluter, Wasserkocher und Ladegeräte umstecken musste. Leider auch nur diese blöden Antidiebstahl-Kleiderbügel.

Ach ja, die Zimmerschlüssel sind noch herkömmliche Schlüssel mit einem großen Anhänger, den man nicht mal eben in die Hosentasche stecken kann.

Fazit: Nicht zu empfehlen

es un hotel muy vistoso, da la impresión qe es antiguo, la única imperfección que observé en su momento, era el ruido tan espantoso que hacia el aire acondicionado, afortunadamente lo solucionaron, ya que provocó un susto muy fuerte.

Tuve una pésima experiencia al llegar con un retraso de dos horas de tren llegué, me habían cobrado la habitación y el conserje me empezó a retar por no haber avisado y que por eso me tenía que cobrar las 3 noches por adelantado!!!! Algo que iba en contra de lo ofrecido en la web y encima estaba enojado. Pésima forma de recibir a un huesped.
Internet se cortaba constantemente en la habitación
