If you drive and need to park your car, I would look elsewhere. And even more so if you're travelling on foot.

The room was in a separate building (which was advertised) and it took us almost an hour from the moment we came to reception until we got to the room, including figuring out our way around the parking, and getting luggage to the room. It's located within a few minutes' drive, but the parking location is very confusing – it's a public car park in a garage under the building, so you have to pay around 12 EUR per night, but the garage itself looks a bit dodgy. The lift would take you to the ground level and then you have to walk to a very confusing entrance. For some reason, it just didn't feel safe, especially late at night.
It felt more like an aparthotel than just a normal hotel with reception. I'd only come back if there were no other options. To be fare the administrator provided a map of how to get to the building but it still felt like a quest, and if you are driving a rented car I wouldn't advise going to Parma centre at all, as the Hotel said they can only cover one area of ZTL, if you came to the hotel using a different area, you'll most likely get a fine. The same when you get out – one wrong turn and you can end up in the ZTL area not covered by the Hotel, so I'd call them to clarify the route beforehand.

The room was fine, and the building looked like a converted theatre.

City centre is only 10 mins walk away.

Wary Traveler in Parma

Very surprised when I booked this hotel that our actual room was at another facility about 5-7 minute walk away.

There was no professional staff at the off-site facility (very limited service) with only a spare towel set available.

Had I understood that this was not located at the full-service hotel, I would not have booked the room.

Booker Beware and be sure to ask which facility your room is located in.

Well located hotel with very nice staff and clean and comfortable rooms. Only issue was with the shower temperature that would alternate from warm to scalding hot without any rhyme or reason on the first two days (didn't seem to happen on the last day of my stay).
Overall good experience though and will stay again!

Nice hotel. We were not in the main hotel but in the annex a 5 minute walk away. Big room and big bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean. The staff in the main hotel were friendly, helpful and efficient. The carpet outside the room was a disaster.
The breakfast for 8 euros was amazing. Plentiful and a good choice of dishes. The dining area was well appointed and very pleasant. I was overall impressed with this Ibis, which is in a different league from the ibis hotels we have stayed in, in London.

This is not the Ibis Hotel-it’s 1/3 mile away

The room was nice enough except there was absolutely no ventilation and the room was hot and stuffy. The snotty staff said there was a silent fan and they would turn it up, from the real hotel 1/3 of a mile away. It is insulting to be told that and know there was no air coming out of the vent. We asked for a fan and they said they didn’t have any. The air/heat and fan had been turned off and we couldn’t leave the window open because we were on the first floor and because of the bugs. We got up in the middle of the night to open the window to cool the room down. Too bad the windows didn’t open from the top for a bit of air. We were the only ones in that building which was quiet, but also eerie. There was no wifi. Again, the staff said there was and there was the Ibis name but it wouldn’t connect. If we had signed up for breakfast, we would have had to walk 1/3 of a mile back to the hotel. We finally saw a person as we were leaving. The maid was in the hall and had propped all the doors open to get some air. Expedia should not take this listing. Ibis Hotels should not be housing guests way off site. We stayed here because of the Ibis name. Never again!

Good location - near wedding venue for us, sufficiently close to train station. Good air conditioning. Lots of pillows. Firm bed. Iron and ironing board upon request, not very hot though. Bandages upon request, showed them my injuries oops. Good snacks and lemon slushee, complimentary in lobby. Issue with shower draining at certain hours. wifi logged you out pretty/very frequently. Also, when we headed out, they got us a taxi very quickly. I rated low on comfort due to a lot of noise - sounded like they the kitchen was right outside our third floor room, constant banging (vacuum? Mop? Head?) on several walls, construction at weird hours.

We stayed in the annex which is not close to the reception desk in the main building. There was a heat wave in Europe at that time we were there but their air conditioning is very good. My advice is if you have the chance to include breakfast with your reservation do so. We paid €8 ea for breakfast but it was well worth it. Quite a breakfast spread.

To begin with, the receptionist was really unfriendly, she didn’t even say hi to us.
The dependance was a bit far from the hotel and it was very hard to find our rooms, since there isn’t proper signs or anyone who is there to help you.
The air conditioner stopped working which was unbearable since it was an extremely hot day.
The lift broke so we had to take the emergency stairs which was quite annoying considering our room was in the top floor.
We didn’t think it was good value for money at all. We would not suggest you stay here, there are many other places with the same price and better service! Apart from that, the room was nice and spacious.

Hotel staff was unfriendly and not helpful to say the least. Very little assistance or direction was given when we arrived. We finally arrived at the hotel after being awake for 30 hours and traveling the majority of that time to find out we could not check in even slightly earlier. We were forced to sit in the lobby and wait for a room for almost 4 hours after we initially arrived. We were barely described how to get to our actual room as it was off site from the main hotel. When we got in our room, we were not told how to actually turn the lights on as crazy as that sounds. We could also not charge our phones due to the same reason. There was only 1 towel given to us. There was no ironing board which i required as i was visiting on business and needed fresh cleaned and ironed clothing. Every time we asked for help at the front we would be turned to a different direction or forced to figure it out entirely on our own. If the room wasn't clean, it would have been a 1 out of 5 stars. The main positive regarding the hotel was location. But that's about it.

Nice hotel, friendly reception.We had a room in the Annex building - quite good size and in good condition. Very colourful...!
A bit disappointed that for the price we paid, there are very little amenities in the room - no kettle with coffee for example, nothing in the mini bar but to be fair, that was not listed in the amenities. But for 100 euros/night I expect more than a 2for1 hair and body wash as toiletries...
Also, as there is no reception at the Annex, I don't think it's possible to leave your suitcase when you leave to come and pick them up later, a bit inconvenient.

A good location for walking into the ‘Centro Storico’. Hotel is a typical modern hotel that can be found all over the world so not special in that respect, but rooms are clean and bright. The front of the hotel faces onto the main road so rooms that look onto the road can be a little noisy.

Unfirendly/ Un-helpful Staff

The staff at this hotel were extremely not helpful.

I got off of a red-eye flight from Canada, then a bus, then a train ride, and checked into the main hotel. They said my room had been moved to a hotel half a km away which I had to walk with all my luggage - no support offered. I also asked a few times for clear directions and a map. I also asked suggestions on where to eat and got a vague answer that \"there are restaurants around here\". The day I arrived it was a holiday , which they forgot to mention, so lots of the restaurants were closed.

My phone was also off the hook in my room, the room had no information on breakfast times or eating suggestions, when I asked when breakfast was they said \"you need to pay for it\" a few times before actually telling me when it was. Lastly, I put a sign on my door to not clean my room and they cleaned it anyway.

Overall, being a jet lagged foreigner as well as a young female in a country where I don't speak the language - I certainty did not expect to have to bagger the staff for the basics in terms of hospitality.

The room I was in was so noisy, sounded like a tank filling up periodically. We were booked in a set of rooms about 450m from the main hotel and almost part of a car park. Bed was not comfortable and the decor was unusual. I would not stay here again as I felt sleep deprived after the stay.

Booking says the room is 400m from reception, so you think you may have to take a lift and walk a bit right? Nope. It means you have to go back outside and walk down the road to another location entirely.

Very strange and should have been made clear. The main selling point of this hotel is the river view, which of course you don't have with this, \"annexe\", not to mention the other hotel facilities.

The room was ok, large bed, but the shower water pressure was very weak.

It's a pity as I've stayed at this Ibis hotel (the advertised one) and others around the world and never had a problem.

There are two parts of this hotel - the building where you check in and breakfast is available, and the \"Annex\" which is four or so blocks away in a building which also houses a theatre. The rooms are okay, but the hike was unexpected and inconvenient for check-out. The Annex is near the main walking street, which is good, but it is just a little odd. I booked through Expedia and got a decent rate (~US 80) so not bad, but next time I'll work harder to find something cozier and more attractive.

We stayed in the (much cheaper) \"annexe\". This is 400m away and at the back of a local theatre. The underground car park was a little unsavoury, and took some time as a non local to figure out how to pay to get the car out when we left. The rooms \"feel\" a little insecure being accessed though a semi-public lift at the back of the theatre / passed a bar/restaurant, but are a) obviously NOT insecure, or no-one would stay there - in fact no worse than an American motel and b) once you are in them are a very good size and well appointed and excellent value for money. Excellent location for the main foody street and main square.

Arrived after a long drive to find that we did not have a room in the main hotel but in an unstaffed annexe. We were given a key and a poor map with instructions to the annexe and nearby parking. Found the parking at the second attempt but failed to find any sign of the hotel annexe and found ourselves wandering in the back streets of Parma. Went back to the hotel and expressed our deep discontent at which point the reception staff offered us a room in the main hotel and a parking space just outside the door. An excellent response! But it begs the question as to why we were shuffled off elsewhere in the first place? Was it because we had booked not with the hotel directly but through Hotels.com?

Adjunct Building does not have A/C

This review is only for the adjunct building located down the street from reception. Although there is some limited free parking at the main hotel, there is no free parking at the other location. You can however leave your vehicle at main hotel and walk to the adjunct building. The room was very clean and nicely decorated, but it had no A/C and the huge size and location of the windows (more like doors) made it unsafe to leave them open at night for ventilation (we were on first floor and there was a walkway outside our window). There was an A/C in the room but it was not operational, and the receptionist told us that our building did not come with A/C. I do not have A/C in my own home and do not normally require A/C but this was ridiculous - stuffy and hot. I can only image how bad it would be if it had been there in summer (we were there at the beginning of Oct). The staff was friendly, and informative and the location was excellent. I imagine a room either on the second floor in the adjunct building or in the main hotel would be much better. Had we stayed more than 1 night I would have asked to change.

The hotel was in a great location. We stayed in the annex building which was really easy to find and very close to the centre. Free parking was offered at the main hotel building.
Room was really clean and very comfortable. There was a lift in the annex building and parking available underground if you wanted to be closer for 12 euros extra.
Very pleased with our stay.

Annex away from it all in Parma

I can only rate the \"annex\" which I was put into and I'm guessing it less expensive. It is a ten minute walk from the main hotel, so consider that if you want to partake of breakfast in the hotel or ANY hotel regular services. The annex is surrounding a live theater so it is very unique especially if you want to attend the theater. Rooms are decorated with very large pictures of actors, so don't be startled when you awake in the night. The room was great -- large, good bed, very nice bathroom, good a/c, mini fridge. There are NO hotel amenities here, however. Don't expect a human around to help you if a key doesn't work, (which inconveniently happened to me) a vending or ice machine. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and residential; it takes a few blocks to a cafe or commerce of any kind. Also, could the front desk at least have a wine opener? I did the ten minute walk only to find they didn't have one. This is Italy, after all.

The room was mostly clean but we did notice some ants and a strange stain on one of the spare pillows. However, the price was very affordable and the location was great. Very good standard of finish. I find you get a predictable standard with these. Great rooms and staff very helpful and professional. Breakfast was excellent! Parma is fantastic and much more relaxing than the usual over crowded fair. Good location as well. We walked from the train station. That's 20 mins straight down the road and whilst we didn't try the bus that would be easy once you buy your ticket before.

Good place to stay in Parma

Comfortable bed (after removing the rubber mattress protector) and quiet room. Air conditioning wasn't working the first night but the man in reception fixed it when I complained and then the room was cool.The hotel staff were very pleasant and breakfast was quite good.

Very good hotel at good prices

We thought this hotel was great. Just 5 to 10 - minutes walk from all the main sights. Breakfast had a good choice of sweet and savoury options. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from the railway station. No coffee or tea-making facilities in the room but a plentiful supply of coffee (and perhaps tea), fruit juices and water was available in the lobby free of charge at all times. A really good-value hotel in a good location.

Cheap and cheerful hotel near Parma centre.

My experience at the hotel was good overall, but not good enough for me to want to return or recommend it unfortunately.

Very comfortable stay!

I am an Erasmus student and I was coming to Parma with nowhere to live, so I booked a night in this hotel to allow me time to find somewhere. I arrived in Parma airport at 5 pm, and was at the hotel all checked in by 5:30 pm - the hotel is no more than a ten minute taxi journey from the airport - very convenient location! The receptionist at arrival was very nice, and explained everything in Italian and English to make sure I understood it all! And when a friend of mine needed to book a room last-minute, this was very easy to do. We asked the receptionist for recommendations of a nearby restaurant, and she told us of one a five minute walk away, where guests of the hotel got a 10% discount. The restaurant was very nice, and had live music and nice food.
Breakfast the next morning was very nice, with a wide selection of foods. And when we asked if it would be possible to leave our suitcase at the hotel after having checked-out, in order to spare us from dragging them along house hunting, we were able to do so safely and with no problems.
Very comfortable stay, very cost-effective and the staff were very nice!

The hotel location is great... close to the center and close to all interetsing monuments.the hotel is clean and the service good. the personnel is very helpful and prone to solve any problems! The only problem was not the hotel but the reservation through Hotel.com... Eventough the room was booked 4 months in advance the reservation was never sent to the hotel... We had to call them (in Ireland) to get the reservation done. The reservation was actually through expedia after all... So my advise.... go to this hotel it is very good... but do not book it with Hotel.com

Surprise & Delight in Parma

OK, so when you choose an Ibis the budget is perhaps higher on your considerations than the beauty, level of facilities, location etc. However, this was one exception. Firstly, the location is perfect for the City of Parma and, in particular Trattoria Corrieri. If you are in Parma for dinner do NOT miss this gem of a restaurant. Start with Torta Fritta, Prosciutto & Parmiggiano...you may not sample anything better, simpler and fresher than these delightful antipasti. But back to the Ibis - exemplary comfort from the beds, cleanliness and function from the bathrooms and a surprisingly delightful breakfast made the trip complete.
