Comfortable hotel. Although some areas were a bit tired, e.g. bathrooms were very old, everything worked. Room was comfortable and the family room was actually two separate rooms with a shared entrance and bathroom which worked great for us. Brig is very quiet and all of the shops were closed when we arrived at 19.00 on a Wednesday in July so nowhere to buy food.

Our train to Zermatt was cancelled due to landslide so we had to overnight in Brig and this came up with good reviews.

We checked in right before the staff was ready to leave and she was trying to handle other travelers looking for rooms. Kudos to her for being so nice when it was leaving time.

We got off the elevator and the halls were dated, dark and a musty smell so we weren't feeling good. Once we got to the room, we were pleasantly surprised with the modern look, nice needs, clean and satisfied for the three of us.

It was hot so we opened the doors, overlooking the train station and already saw 2 fans, which we used to draw in the cool air. Swiss air conditioning at it's best! We stayed in a 5-start in Lucerne that wasn't close to being this cool.

We were given a restaurant recommendation, which was spot-on good Italian food.

Minor issues ... Shower leaked, but a towel helped keep the mess to a minimum (room 31) and didn't have paper/pen to advise the property. And the one fan was really noisy ... Again, we were thrilled to have it but did have to turn it off or throw it off the balcony to stop the squeak.

Our room had a stunning view of the mountains and it was bright and airy. The hotel is located right in front of the train station which is really convenient. However, one of the shower door was missing which caused the bathroom to be flooded after we showered. Apart from that, it was a good stay overall!

We were on a train to stay at this hotel; however, we arrived in Milan, Italy on a train and got stuck at the train station as there was a train strike on this day and our departure train to Brig was cancelled. We were not able to get on a train to Brig but they still charged us for the stay stating we had to cancel 3 days in advance. This was not our fault and we feel they should be more flexible due to this being the fault of the train personnel going on strike and shutting down trains. We had to unexpectedly find and pay for another hotel in a different town. Beware of their inflexible policy!

Hotel is quiet but the surroundings being next to the railway station is not. The hotel is towards the budget end for Swiss hotels. very clean in good condition but room a bit on the small size but this typical for independent European hotels. The staff where very friendly and knowledgable.

I stayed during a trip around Switzerland by rail and this hotel was my base for a couple of day trips, starting from Brig station which is right across the street. On one trip I went to Zermatt for a trip up a mountain to view the Matterhorn and on another I went into northern Italy and made a circular trip back to Brig.

Below average for sure. College dorm would be a good comparison in my opinion. You get your room with a bed and a bathroom. That’s all. Is it clean? I can’t say no. There was a pubic hair in the sink when I checked in.

The front desk staff was extemely helpful and knowledgeable of area amenities and how to get places. Although across from the train station we really didn't hear much noose, but we had a room in the back. The location was very convenient for shopping and dining. There are only 10 parking spaces but we never saw more than 4 in use. Drawback is the tiny elevator and no a/c but the windows open and the bed was comfy.

Out of my expectation, great hospitality

Honestly I didn't expect much before staying at this hotel because I booked it only to avoid the crowdiness in Zermatt. However, the ladies who greeted us at the front desk really made our day. She is so nice and enthusiastic. I really enjoy chatting with her. Though the hotel looks quite old and isn't fancy in decoration. It has a nostalgic feel in its overall setting and the most important it is clean and smell nice. Also, it is just opposite to the Brig station, it is great for us to get up on the Glacier Express. If you like me, that is afraid of the crowds, try this little hotel in Brig.
One last thing to mention, they have a very nice restaurant with very good breakfast.

We received a very warm reception which made us feel very welcome and comfortable.
The room was small but efficient at the hotel although it's basic makes for a comfortable short sday and it's across the street from the train station.
I recommend this place without hesitation for anyone on the budget looking for a clean standard sized European hotel room.

Great location.

The hotel is great for rail travellers as it is just across the street coming out of the Brig Bahnhof. It is also within walking distance of the city plaza where the restaurants concentrate and the landmark \"lifting bridge\". The front desk is not manned at night and in the morning though.

We stayed here unexpectedly due to a travel problem in Italy. We booked last minute and they were wonderfully accommodating. Our room was spacious and it had a terrific view as well as a balcony. We loved it. The breakfast was good. If we were to return, we would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located just opposite to main train station and train line to Zermatt. It is an old building but has a small lift. As the wifi repeater is on the other side of the corridor, the wifi signal is too weak to work and so I have to browse the internet for train schedule information at the lobby on ground floor.

When arriving, the hotel staff met us with a big smile and welcome. Their English was very good,so no language problems! We were given good recommendation for dinner, which was lovely, and were given water and chocolate, which was a nice touch. The room was dated, but adequate, but there were no channels in English. Usually, in hotels, there is at least a news channel. There were channels in several languages, but not English. We would stay here again. It was located directly across from the train station, which made traveling quite easy.

The lady in charge was very welcoming and gave us apples on arrival and bottles of water on departure. We had stayed the previous 2 nights in the more expensive Schlosshotel Art Furrer, but if we went again to Brig we would choose Hotel Europe. The bathroom was modern, the bedroom windows were spotless and breakfast offered a good choice. The location is very convenient for the rail and bus station.

One night in Brig

The hotel is located across the street from the train station, so it is a bit noisy. We had a delay in our flight and consequently train to get to Brig and when we arrived there was noone on site. We kept pressing the call button and eventually a person responded and told us how to get key out of the box. We had to call him one more time about internet access and he was not very happy. However the lady in the morning was very sweet and accommodating. If you don’t mind the noise and don’t want to walk, this can be the place for you.

The concierge was very friendly, efficient and helpful, we got upgraded for free, and it's central to the town. The breakfast was a good spread and nicely laid out; the room was in good repair and very clean, with a fantastic drench head shower in the bathroom. The paint work could do with a bit of a touch up in a few places, but that's a minimal consideration. Location wise, it's on a main road, so there is a bit of traffic noise, but not too bad and there is a few parking spaces if you're driving there. It's next to the train station too, so easy for connections. The concierge gave us a great restaurant recommendation for the steak house in the centre of town, very tasty.

I spent two nights here on my way to fly home from Geneva. The hotel is just across the street from the station, very conveniently located. Rooms are comfortable and clean - pillows are awesome! I had a balcony that overlooked the mountain and got the afternoon sun, very nice. Breakfast is generous and good. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. After walking around Brig, cross the Rhone in back of the station and walk to the old town of Naters. Looks like a great hiking trail up on the hill there, I didn't have time to do it. Great, relaxing place to stop.

It is directly opposite the major junction train station (with links to ski fields), walking distance to old town restaurants and offers quality basic comforts for budget conscious travellers. Wide-ranging TV coverage, as well as radio, quality breakfast included and free wifi. Very attentive hosts. More practical than stylish, it offers an excellent choice of basic accommodation.

Anyone arriving in Brig by train this is the Hotel to use. Hotel in clean and despite being close to the station ,very quite.

A VERY GOOD HOTEL IN AN EXTREMELY CONVENIENT LOCATION

The HOTEL EUROPE in Brig is situated about 200 metres from the main railway station; also the railway line which serves Zermatt. The owners are friendly and the hotel is quiet and efficiently run. The rooms are adequate, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms excellent. The breakfast, served between 7 and 10am is good. I would strongly recommend this hotel.
From the railway station there are direct trains to Geneva every half hour, also to Bern and Zurich. The world-famous Glacier Express also passes the hotel. There are direct trains to Italy.
By Swiss standards the hotel rates are reasonable, and provide value-for-money. I would definitely stay there again.

Alt, abgewohnt und in Bahnhofsnähe.

Das Bett hatte eine höhe von 25cm. Der Wasserkocher konnte am Tisch nicht angeschlossen werden, da keine Steckdose. Primitive Beleuchtung, Duschvorhang und kein warmes Wasser am Morgen runden das Bild ab.
Bahnhofsnähe und ruhig können positiv genannt werden.

Für meine Mountainbike-Tage das ideale Hotel. Ganz nahe beim Bahnhof Brig. Nachts fein ruhig zum Schlafen. Zimmer war auch an diesen heissen Tagen überraschend kühl, da auf die Schattenseite des Hotels gelegen. Die Einrichtung ist insgesamt etwas alt, aber sauber und freundlich. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

Kurzaufenthalt im Hotel EUROPE, Brig

Zimmer war sehr klein, doch preisgünstig und letztes ver-fügbares Zimmer. Service zuvorkommend, freundliches Personal. Räumlichkeiten renovationsbedürftig, doch sehr sauber, was ich sehr schätzte. Besonders willkommen waren der kleine Kühlschrank im Zimmer + Teekocher. Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm; ich kann es bestens empfehlen.
