Room was small anyway, but poor design made it smaller. Large chair didn’t fit under desk so door wouldn’t open all the way; the shower was tiny and flooded the bathroom every time.

Hotel itself was nice enough but room took away from that.

I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel has such high ratings. We booked based on the reviews and were completely misled. From start to finish, the service was appalling. Staff were indifferent and unhelpful — no acknowledgment while waiting to check in, only one staff member serving multiple guests, and only two of three people in our group were offered a welcome drink.

Our “superior” room was anything but. The photos online are misleading. The room was tired, dirty, and poorly maintained — marked walls, chipped furniture, a stained armchair, and a broken safe. The bathroom was unacceptable: mould, hair in the tub, broken shower fittings, and a drain that didn’t work. To make matters worse, there was constant, loud construction noise above our room, making it impossible to rest — even for our baby. When we raised concerns, staff dismissed us and offered no solution.

Expedia tried to contact the hotel multiple times on our behalf, but calls went unanswered and any request for help or compensation was refused. The lift was also dangerous, closing abruptly on guests — my baby’s pram and my elderly mother were both nearly injured.

The only positives were the central location and the rooftop bar staff, who were friendly and professional. Everything else was deeply disappointing. For the price paid, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Do not be fooled by the photos or reviews — look elsewhere.

Room was a bit on the small size. Beds were comfortable. The AC and WIFI worked well. Breakfast was really good. The hotel is on a busy street. Easy to catch an Uber or go to the Metro. Uber is so cheap in Athens so, that was our primary method of getting around. They have a 60s theme which is kinda of fun. All in all, a good place to stay.

The rooms are far too small and it’s not what it looks like on the booking at all, also when checking in you have to wait for ages which is the last thing you need after travelling all day.

I will say though the rooftop is amazing and the service from the waiters were amazing.

After very early flight from the United States, we were able to still check in a little earlier because hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful. We were able to get early morning van arranged by the Hotel Check in was easy and friendly. Free water, 2 room accommodations for our teens, and champagne topping it. We would stay again.

Nice location, room too small

The hotel is centrally located right at the Omonia Square with each access to metro and bus lines. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was unexpectedly small, to the point that it was hard to move around with only two carry-on suitcases. It’s OK if you are just a tourist not planning to stay in the room and use it only to sleep for a night.

Location is excellent. Right by a metro station (perfect for getting to and from the airport) and walking distance to many sites such as the Monastiraki, the Acropolis, Syntagma Square and many, many more.

Amenities are very good and include a gym, rooftop (Acropolis-view) diningnand free WiFi.

The only negative mark I'd give the Brown Acropol are towards its staff. They come across snooty and only do the bare minimum when it comes to customer service. Their bellboy was rude. I stayed there a week for business and didn't see a single one of them smile during my entire stay. However, their cleaning staff were helpful and friendly.

Probably would not stay at the Brown Acropol again as there were several other options in the area.

The hotel is in a great location. The road noise makes it difficult to sleep for a light sleeper. Also there are only 2 lifts which can mean you wait a while at busy times. The hotel staff were friendly but did not offer any Expedia VIP benefits

Very nice hotel with good ambiance. We arrived before check in and our room was ready. They also upgraded our room which had a balcony. Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly staff and Prosecco. The view from the rooftop was very nice. Convenient location as it is next to the metro. Also walking distance to acropolis and other popular sites.

From the moment our group of 6 friends and family walked into the lobby, Steve showered us with hospitality and Prosecco! What a wonderful ambassador for the hotel he is! The front desk staff was patient with our questions and even the two security guards helped with luggage and taxis! Up on the roof, the bar staff and manager were wonderful and the breakfast fabulous. We all felt so special and our rooms were lovely. Honestly, I can’t say enough about how impressive the Brown Acropol is!! Thank you!

Booked 2 deluxe rooms with balcony , requested interconnected rooms due to son medical condition, to be told no connected rooms available when checking in, checked us in a room on 2nd floor , because we are stay there for 5 night then come back to stay another 1 night , so I went down to the reception and ask if they can move us may be the next day when connected room available, the manager was helpful and find us a available connected rooms straight away but unfortunately it is on the 8 floor, not able to sleep before midnight every night because of the noise from restaurant on 9 floor, the noise is so loud from chair moving around and banging music. This is my personal experience and for the price we paid , don’t feel it’s worth it and will not stay here again because of the noise issues.

This hotel is ideally located with the metro literally across the road, supermarkets nearby and walking distance to major attractions. The hotel was clean and welcoming, staff were friendly, rooms were big (we had a balcony room) views from the rooftop are great of the Acropolis and we loved the jacuzzis on the roof top also. The only thing that let this hotel down (slightly) was the breakfast. There was no explanation given on the first day (help yourself, sit where you like, you can order etc) and it took until the 3rd day that I saw a small sign on the counter top that said I could order eggs from the waiter. This would have been nice if it was explained. There was a wide variety for breakfast but it was set up on the bar, left out in the open for hours and nothing was organised eg milk wasn’t next to the tea and coffee or cereal, glasses weren’t next to the juice/water, bowls weren’t next to the cereal, it just made things a little chaotic on a morning people moving around backwards and forwards everywhere. There was also no toaster for all of the bread they had which was rather disappointing. Saying that it wouldn’t put us off staying again!

After taking an hour to check us in on check in day (after 3pm) we were contacted and reception apologised following our review and provided complimentary breakfast for us which was nice and unexpected.
The bed was amazing - so big and comfortable.
The shower water pressure was good.
Pillows a little on the soft side but that’s simply preference.
The hotel feels dated I know they are going for a 60-70s feel but the property itself although refurbished is old in places such as the lifts which are slow.
Wifi is really slow. Air conditioning was uncomfortably warm. It was 38 Celsius during the day outside and 30 in the evening when we were staying but it felt like the air con failed to work during the nighttime as was cooler in the room during the day?? This made an uncomfortable broken nights sleep. Hot tubs on the roof were exactly that hot so we didn’t use them as wanted to cool down not boil - would be nice for a cooler day to use with good views from the rooftop, once again restaurant on the roof was hot and not air conditioned up there so would be nicer during cooler weather

Great hotel ideally situated for a city break

Great hotel, great location and a great atmosphere.
I read some complaints about the room sizes and location but if you check what you're booking then you'll see it's just right. The room theme is a little quirky but that's a personal taste thing. The rooftop bar area is wonderful and the staff are very attentive.
My biggest praise is for the reception and housekeeping staff. I read one guy stating they were dishonest but I found the exact opposite. 8 hours after leaving we realised we left some sunglasses on the bed, most likely wrapped in the sheets. We called the hotel and nothing had been reported but 20 minutes later they called to tell me they had found them. That level of honesty on an item which we could have lost anywhere along the way is unheard of.

We arrived from the airport (40€) few days early for a cruise (departing Athens) and wanted a place to home base and adjust our sleeping. We arrived mid morning from the US and were pretty tired. They did their best to get us a first available room and we were napping by noon.
While we waited for our room to be ready we had breakfast on their rooftop restaurant (with stunning city views and of the Acropolis). It was the perfect way to spend some time before getting our rooms.
Late that afternoon we went for a walk towards the Acropolis and wandered through Monastiraki square and Psyri. Just stunning. Great food options, lots to see, excellent sidewalk cafes to sit and people watch. We got our 10,000 steps in wandering over about 4 hours.
Then back to the hotel for a nightcap on the rooftop bar and enjoy the pleasant Athens evening and views of the Acropolis. Bed by 11 and slept through to 6a - internal clocks reset and ready for the cruise the next day. Only a 20€ ride to the port and we were off.

This hotel has bedbugs. We noticed them on top of the sheets after we took a nap. We lifted the sheet and saw them crawling into the mattress. Two days later, I had bites all over both of my arms. At first, the hotel was very helpful. They immediately refunded us and agreed to reimburse us for the expenses. It has now been over a month and the hotel has my bank account and credit card information and has not processed the refund. I email them a few times a week and have not had this issue resolved. Choose another hotel!

HUGELY DISSAPOINTING – THEFT FROM MY ROOM

Location is more or less acceptable, even though I have struggled finding anywhere decent to go for a dinner. Don’t be misled by the hotel name as it is nowhere near Acropolis. I did not get any welcome drink on arrival from sour-faced reception staff. The room was extremely dark, lacking any source of lighting – natural or artificial, and the view from my room was a dark noisy alleyway, overlooking air conditioning units.
The whole experience felt like I was inside some sort of social engineering experiment: the ego-centric owner must like loud house music, so I must like it too, the owner must be vegetarian, so I must be too, the owner must be into retro décor style, so I must be too. Breakfast is actually not bad… if you are vegetarian, and a total disaster if you are not. You have to ask to get your fried eggs or omelette, and if you ask for fried sausages, you will hear “no, we are vegetarian!” You have no choice but to become veggie retro hipster and listen to the loud house beat until midnight, no matter what floor your room is on, and what’s even worse you have to listen to the same at breakfast. Be prepared to wait for extra-long time for lifts and use weird button system.
For the grand finale I had a theft from my room. Hotel has recorded the theft but has not done anything to resolve the issue, I faced complete poker-faced indifference and lack of sympathy from the reception staff, saying that cleaners have not taken anything.

Views of acropolis and city from the rooftop are spectacular. All in all would highly recommend staying here.

We were put on the 8th floor right underneath the roof top restaurant and bar, so noice from thier kept us up and woke us up, early mornings for preparations of breakfast at 6am. We could hear them moving furniture around. In the eveings, area around the hotel, we felt bit uncomfortable because of large gatherings of people. In my opinion the hotel is not a 4 * rather 3.

The staff was nice, but the checkin was too long

I was exhausted when I arrived, but had to wait >30 minutes to check into my room. I asked why, but was only told “there is a line”. They were kind enough to keep pouring us Prosecco while we waited, but I would’ve taken a shower over that.

Also, there was a used piece of tissue on my bathroom floor and I could tell the fixtures had not been wiped clean. Thankfully I had Lysol.

Lastly, the room came with earplugs, which made me wonder if the area was loud, but the noise that kept me up all night want from the street. It was from hearing people walking and talking in the building. The floors and walls are thin.

Wonderful Time At Brown Acropol

Our stay was very good. We started in a room unsuited to my disability. The hotel quickly amended this once they were aware providing both accessible shower and a room with a street view also more space. Available Breakfasts were wonderful and robust in terms of offerings. Combine this Acropolis and city views from their rooftop dining And bar facility made for a really pleasant visit. All staff were professional friendly and helpful.

It’s first week of November in Athens, they have turned off the AC. The room was hot upon arriving. The steward managed to prop a window open to cool it off.
Went to dinner, came back got ready to retire. There was party on the Roof, til mid nite. Then, a large Music thing going on near by.
I had to close the Windows.

The room was too hot. They brought a Fan .

The room did not kool down til about 5 am. The bedding was set up for winter with a duvet and winter lining.

I spent the whole night getting comfortable.
If I got 3-4 hours of sleep that was a lot.

The hotel decor is very chic 60’s and done up well. The service is great…
Very clean.

But not being able to sleep, due to the heat in the room, made this stay a thumbs down. Temps were still in the Mid 20’s when I arrived.

I have a long day ahead of me . Not the way I wanted to start my Vacay.

Do not stay here if you are looking to have fun.

Roof top bar was closed for refurbishment. No warning, not mentioned on web site.
No room service after 9pm.
If the small indoor bar was open nobody was working behind it.
Nothing inside the minibar.

A good hotel reasonably priced !

Everything was great ! The room was small but functional . Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is well situated to enjoy Athens . Great Spa sévices and a good fitness room !

Dirty and disappointing

Dirty and disappointing hotel, located in the heart of a neighborhood full of drugged and homeless people. The people at the reception were impatient and the room was just filthy full of dust as if they had not cleaned it in a long time. A real disappointment

We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the street and it felt like we were sleeping inside the street in terms of noise. We asked to move room and wanted to give us a smaller room without refunding money for the upgrade we made in booking a more expensive room. After some demand we were transferred to the same room in a quieter location.

Great property and great staff. Very helpful and customer focussed. Not in the best location, a bit sketchy and away from the main attractions. I had to ask for the VIP room upgrade, and paid a higher rate.

La struttura è molto bella e abbiamo prenotato una camera standard. la camera era un pò piccola ma molto pulita ed molto carina. abbiamo scoperto solo alla fine del soggiorno che la zona non era consigliata ma in realtà è stata comoda per tutto. Lo staff super! Hanno anche delle vasche idromassaggio nel terrazzo che si possono usare anche la sera molto suggestive.

I enjoyed my stay here and will most likely stay here again. The location is convenient to train station and many cafes, restaurants and shops. When I checked in, the clerk did not acknowledge my VIP status. I would have felt more appreciated if it had been recognized.
