The location is good, close to the train station and not far from the main points of interest. The staff is great. Breakfast was ok, although limited.
The property condition was under our expectations. The room that we were assigned (for three people) was ok, but the washroom was tiny and the distribution was very inconvenient. The room did not have a place to connect the Europe to North America plug adaptor, except for one in the washroom where there was zero space to put the phones, etc. Overall not a good value for money and way under our expectations.

Very small one room space, narrow bathroom. Considering how busy the area is it was ok for one night stay for a family of five. Staff was kind to keep our luggage when we arrived about 2 hours earlier than the check in time. Breakfast fast was good, nothing fancy though.

The room was very spacious for 4 people, and the location is ideal for travel by train, as it is less than a 5 minute walk from the train station. Distance to the major tourist attractions is a bit farther but totally walkable. The staff is very friendly and we’re very accommodating when we arrived prior to checking time. My only suggested improvement would be a safe in the t’room to lock up valuables, and also a bottle opener and glasses, but again staff was accommodating with supplying glasses. Overall an excellent staff in a spectacular city.

Totally good for a short stay in Florence - short walk and easy to find from train station (I arrived very late). 15 mins walk to a lot of the main city centre sights. Staff helpful when asked for information. I enjoyed the cake and coffee breakfast.

The hotel is a a couple hundred meters from Firenze S.M.N. Station so it is very convenient. We stayed here to make our trip to the airport easier for a 6:30 am flight. It was easy to find and the appearance is clean. The rooms are decently sized. The elevator is useful, especially if you have luggage. The air conditioning in both of our rooms did not work; the units turned on and blew a bit of cool air but not enough to cool a room. They were clearly old and probably had not been maintained in years. Consequently, my wife told the guy that the air conditioning didn’t work asked if the hotel had any fans and that we could use. The worker said something to the effect of “that sucks, yeah we have fans. Oh, not really, we don’t have any. Open the window.” Right...

Poor sign makes it hard to find. Hallway smells. No air conditioning and luggage rack. Very noisy. No safe. It’s has 3 different hotels on each floor with 10 units. Put two twin beds together. Tv didn’t work.

Like a lot of hotels in tourist areas of Italy this hotel could do with a renovation. The room had an offensive smell to it (like someone had spilt a couple of bottles of a foul smelling cheap perfume) and the staff were unable to accommodate in changing the room, as they said they were fully booked.
Located the problem to be in the bathroom. Kept the windows opened all day to aerate the room, and closed the bathroom door when I was in the room, and that helped contain the odour to the bathroom only.
Having said that, the bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. Lovely breakfast included. 5 minute walk from Florence’s main train station Santa Maria Novella and 10 minutes walk (max) to the Duomo.

Quiet and quaint, near train station

Welcoming and helpful staff. We booked last minute, for one night, after missing last train to Rome. Rooms are outdated, but spacious with modern European bathrooms. Breakfast is varied and tasty. Quiet and clean place for one night. TV had to be changed manually because the remote stopped working. Fridge in room, items inside are not complimentary. Rugs on the tile floors would make the rooms cozy and less basic. Mosquito plug-ins available, as well as select iPhone and Android adapters and chargers for the night.

Excellent staff. Josef seems to do everything at this hotel, he is amazing. The hotel is much more of a motel. It is located very near the train station (which is great) but the area is a bit shady. There is a lot of homeless people at the corner of the street and it is nit inviting. I honestly didn’t feel safe on the street. You have to drag your luggage up a floor to access the elevator, which only hold 3 people. The ‘hotel’ is on one floor of a building, the other floors are also ‘hotels’. The room is old and bare, the bathroom is very old and small, the tv is tiny (11 inches?) and only has Italian channels. Breakfast features prepackaged items and stale croissants. On our last day the hotel (the whole street to be fair) had no water all day. We were miserable and spent the least amount of time possible in our room.

Great location around the corner from the train station. The staff were friendly, helpful and someone was there 24/7. The room was spacious for a family of 4, the bathroom was updated and clean. Breakfast was great; sliced meats, cheese, youguet, cereal and wonderful pastries. The coffee machine made espresso, cappuccino, hot chicolate and other drinks and the setting was lovely. We would definitely stay there again!

A review should be honest to help other travellers. I don't like to give a bad review but the truth is our stay was not good. We didn't get much sleep both nights due to the noise from the surrounding rooms and the hallway. We soon realised the people in the other rooms were not shouting, just talking relatively loudly. We could hear toilets being flushed too. The walls must be paper thin! The one thing you want from a room is to be able to get a good night's sleep and that was not the case. The water was also lukewarm in the shower.
On a more positive note, the staff were really friendly, the buffet breakfast is good and the hotel is close to the railway station.
Sorry but the above represents our stay.

Very nice hotel close to very thing. Staff very friendly the room was very spacious. Even thought it is on the second floor it is easy to get to. We liked that had good break fast. It is next to rail station and central markets. Very thing is within easy walking distance we would recommend this hotel people a budget. We were able too walk around the area at night and feel safe. Lovely traditional hotel close to SMN station and within easy walking distance of city centre. Very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful hotel with marble, wood panelling and artistic stained glass, very clean and well-equipped rooms with traditional fittings and furnishings. Lovely breakfast every day. This is the second time at Hotel Desiree and we would heartily recommend it.

Good base for travelling to Florence

The hotel is in an old building but the interior has been renovated to a good standard. The elevator is ancient and rather lovely to experience. A real trip back in time with manually operated doors. The baroque chairs and sofa in the hall continues the atmosphere. The room we had was modern comfortable and adequate for our needs with a quiet air conditioner and en-suite shower. The reception persons were friendly and helpful. Very convent to the railway station and they looked after our bags until we were ready to catch the train in the afternoon. We would stay there again.

We enjoyed staying at the hotel, the customer service was friendly and helpful and the room was nice for the five of us and the bathroom space was fine as well. There was a major draining problem in the shower from day one and although reported this never was taking care of which did make it difficult for us to get our showers done in a timely fashion. The breakfast was excellent and always on time and even early on a morning trip day which was arranged by staff. Another staff member was very attentive to our needs when our credit card wouldn't work and helped us through that situation. The location was within walking distance for several interesting places and overall I would recommend it.
Also the bike trip with My Tour was fantastic.
The price seemed adequate through Expedia, the old functioning elevator was cool and the decor was nice.

The hotel is on a floor of a building with other hotels and private apartments. The pictures are nothing like the rooms. Do not stay here if you're a light sleeper, you can hear everything including the coffee machine at breakfast starting at 7am everyday.

A 15 minute walk to Duomo
Some street noise at night so maybe ask for a room at back .

Hotel staff asked me to move to a 2 star hotel, I guess they didn't have enough place to accommodate me, if that was the case they shouldn't have taken my booking. Not accepted

It was a single small room with a semi double bed, and a huge chest. I felt like smothered with the big furnitures. If the furnitures were smaller, and there should be more free space. There was an outdated dial match security box attached on the wall, and it looked odd. I could not figure it out how to use it.

Inexpensive hotel near the train station

This hotel is one block from the railway station and a short walk to the rest of Firenze. In fact there are about three hotels in this building (on separate floors) which is probably a converted palazzo. Because it is an inexpensive hotel, my expectations were not high. My only real disappointment was a VERY tired mattress in which I rolled downhill to the place where most people slept. All the rest was OK.

The hotel was super close to the train station as well as restaurants and shopping. The staff was extremely helpful. Quaint hotel but more like a pensione. But the cleanliness and charm make the hotel a great stay for a really great price. One note that the hotel is in the same building as four other hotels. Really was impressed with our stay.

Great place near Santa Maria Novella

This is a nice little hotel near the train station (Santa Maria Novella) and a short walk from main tourist attractions. The area seems quite safe despite being near the station. The hotel room featured: excellent air conditioning, modern bathroom (the shower stall will feel a bit small for larger/taller people), helpful 24 hour front desk, satisfying breakfast. The internet was slow and unsteady.

The only hotel I use when visiting Florence

Lovely ambience, beautiful Tuscan decor, helpful staff, comfortable clean room. I've been visiting Florence for business and holidays since 1999 and this hotel is the only one I return to again and again. Very good value for money. I recommend it regularly to friends.

This is really a dated hotel but fortunately a clean one. The breakfast is ok and the shower is unexpectedly good. It is not sit on a busy street so not noisy in most of the time but early in the morning you can hear the garbage truck doing its work clearly. The WIFI is not too stable. Very easy access to the train station and the main restaurants area.

The bed was the most uncomfortable mess I have ever slept in. The hotel placed a futon mattress across two single beds, with the effect of a huge hump in the middle of the bed and a deep hole that we each had to sleep in on our respective sides of the bed. Very very uncomfortable. I will not be staying here again.

This hotel was in a wonderful, convenient easy to find location that was super close to the train station. It was quiet and clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was basic but fulfilling.

My only complaint was our smoke free room definitely had the smell of smoke lingering in it.

No tissues, tiled floor - a bit cold and feels a bit dirty. Very friendly staff! Yes you have to give them your door key when you leave but that's like a few other places that we have stayed. Plus the keying attached is massive so you wouldn't want to carry it around with you anyhow. Poor shower pressure but good consistent water temperature. Comfortable bed - slightly hard pillows but also comfortable. Can hear people walking around upstairs. Old caged elevators that you have to open 2 sets of doors and it can only perform one operation at a time. Really close to the main train terminal with all the bus lines. There is a small range on offer for complimentary breakfast but was satisfying.
