This was the most magical place I ever stay!! It was everything I wanted and more . The staff was so amazing , the room was picture perfect and when they gave me the room key it was a real door key not a card and it had a cute skeleton key with it , I love all of the charm .The way it was decorated and the vibe was fantastic . It’s hard to describe the way that hotel made me feel. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much you made the 800 mile drive worth it 😀

Unique and beautiful true NOLA stay. We loved the location (although it was noisier than I had anticipated—it is off the quarter a block or two but one of those blocks is Bourbon so expect noise as with any lively spot). The staff was lovely. The pool and courtyard areas were perfect for chilling out, planning our routes, having a drink break pre dinner. Walkability and character unbeatable!

We just finished a 5 night stay at Olivier House. I want to start by saying there are so many wonderful things I absolutely loved about this hotel. It had such great character, a true New Orleans vibe. I enjoyed the cats, the aesthetics, the greenery, and atmosphere. It was a good location, easy to get around. With all that being said, I’m giving it a 3 stars because of cleanliness and quality. There were many bugs in the room, the vintage furniture was so cute but needs a good cleaning. If you want somewhere to rest and feel cozy, this wasn’t it. The bedding needs upgrading, it was itchy, not comfortable. It’s cute for a one night stay but not practical for a longer visit. We hung the “make ready “ request once to get a refresh of the room, clean towels, and sheets. After hot days of sunscreen, sweat and humidity, it was needed. The towels were the only thing changed. The bed wasn’t made, no clean sheets, dirty brick floor. Again, I would come back, but for a quick one night stay.

The property itself is beautiful, lots of culture! Great location, right around the corner from the party scene, yet quiet at night. The only complaint was anywhere except the room was very very hot. It is mostly an outdoor effect other than when in your room.

The hotel is a converted mansion that was built in 1830 and expanded and artfully adjusted since.
The decor is lush and elegant. Everything works somehow.
My room had a very comfortable king sized platform bed, a wet bar with coffee maker, and a large bathroom with a fabulous shower.
There was a dresser, armoire, and a/c
There is a claustrophobic but functional elevator.
The property has many unique places to hang out and a small pool.
My traveling companion and I felt we made an excellent choice, great location, great staff!

The hotel does not have central A/C. We had to move from a loft room because it was too hot. The new room was cool but water dripped from the A/C unit onto the floor and if you step there you might fall thru to the ceiling below. The elevator is OLD and scary as heck. You barely fit 2 people in it. We used the valet service and when we were checking out, we had to describe our keys and car to them. When they parked it, they didn’t label the keys so all weekend they had no idea who they belonged to. The place is by amateurs and the building is not kept up. I won’t stay here again.

I've been staying here when I'm in town for more than 15 years. It's got such a classic NOLA vibe, fantastic service (all day coffee and a nice lounge) and you can't beat the location for the French Quarter. It's cozy and hospitable. Stay here over a generic hotel chain.

Loft room 109 had bed bugs. Outside of that the staff were incredible. The hotel was very cool and beautifully decorated. Our AC was perfect. A block from bourbon street. Perfect for quick bathroom breaks as we enjoyed the day. Just very unfortunate with the fact it had bugs.

I wasn’t going to leave this on review but when I told the front desk(very discreetly mind you out of respect) I was told the owner was there and I could talk to him. He never came out and I was offered nothing as an apology or anything. Our car was brought to the front and we just left. So frustrating but I just wanted to leave so I didn’t press the issue further. Just won’t be back.

We wanted an eclectic and charming place to bed down while visiting the French Quarter, and the Olivier did not disappoint. Everything about the hotel screams "New Orleans". From the friendly staff (both human and cat) to the incredibly unique rooms to the lived-in character of every nook and cranny.

Look, if you are wanting to stay at a sterile and soulless chain that feels like an airport terminal, this is not your place. It's warm (emotionally...the room AC was top notch and kept us cool!), it's got a bit of the city in its bones with the weathered brick and groan of the wooden back steps, and the whole building feels like it's alive with countless stories to tell to those who would listen.

Metaphysical intangibles aside, the staff was amazing. Everyone was so nice and remembered us as we came and went, the housekeeping was friendly, and the free bottles of water were HUGELY appreciated as we were able to recharge and hydrate in between adventures.

So, if you are looking for a stay that has that old NOLA charm, check it out. Shout out to Magnolia for always letting us bother her with ear scratches several times a day...that's one of the cat's names, btw...for clarification😉.

So much character- a beautiful place in a great location. John and Ben at the front desk were so helpful, and the “desk cats”, especially Magnolia, were so sweet. Four stars for cleanliness only because our comforter was very dirty upon arrival, but they switched it out immediately (to one with what looked like a cig burn hole in it). But that is just nitpicking. Beds were comfy, courtyards and pool were cozy and quaint. About 5 min walk to café du monde. Right around corner from bourbon street but noise/smell wasn’t noticeable at all

This is a FANTASTIC place if you want picturesque with historic charm. The staff is very sweet and relaxed. That being said, if you are looking for a renovated, kept up, sleek hotel...this is NOT for you, not at all. The bumps in the old wood floor, crooked and angled stair treads, the DIY maintenance and fixes all around....bathroom sink that is tricky to shut off, the old shower head that just comes from a chipped out hole in the wall without caulk.... it is authentically old and charming....just know what you are wanting. 😉

We stayed here for 5 nights and were choosing between this hotel and a Marriott. We decided on this property because of the pleasant phone conversation, great photos, and convenient location.

The location was excellent, and I have no complaints about that. However, our first impression at check-in was strange. The employee checking us in was sitting behind the desk, while another staff member was sitting nearby in a very relaxed position with her legs stretched out toward the desk, giving him instructions and answering some of our questions. It felt unprofessional and was not the welcome we expected after a long day of travel.

The room had a charming vintage style, which we initially liked. Unfortunately, things went downhill after that. The shampoo provided came in tiny tubes and left my hair extremely dry. There was no conditioner and no body wash. The only soap available looked and felt like old-fashioned laundry soap.

The shower was also inconvenient. The shower head was fixed in one position and could not be adjusted, making it impossible to wash your body without soaking your face and hair.

When we needed toothbrushes, we had to go downstairs to request them. There is no phone in the room, so every request requires a trip to the front desk. It certainly gave us a glimpse of life in the old days, but not in a good way.

Pretty property with old-world flair, but very worn out and not well-maintained. Spots on furniture, cockroaches, and cats that defecated on the carpet in the snack area. Unfair pricing. We paid the same as our friends for a small, pool-facing room with a tiny bathroom that even didn't have a hook for hand towels or a place for toiletries, while their room and bathroom were spacious and well-stocked. There was no shelf for shampoo in the shower stall. Actually, there was no shampoo and conditioner at all. We were provided only with two small soap discs. Property owners and staff were unfriendly and my complaint was met with smirks and ridicule.

Beautiful historical property that is well-maintained. Lovely courtyards & the overnight/early AM receptionist was super helpful & knowledgeable about the property and its history. It’s true what is said ab the noise on the street-facing balcony rooms, but that is going to be every hotel in that area. Cars drive down the quarter with music so loud, a couple made the window rattle. I didn’t mind; it was part of the experience & by the third night I tuned it out. If you’re going to be out late-night, it may not even be an issue. If it’ll bother you— get a room that isn’t street facing OR bring earplugs. Easy solutions. As a woman traveling solo, I felt safe & I loved being able to sit out on the balcony. Bed was clean & super comfortable. Easy & safe to get to everything. Local grocery w/in 5 min walk. The pool looked clean— it was raining most of the days so I’ve no idea if people use it— but it was beautifully done. 10/10 stay

The hotel was great! It’s not the Hilton or Sheraton, which I knew, but it still took a moment to get used to it. But once I did, it has the charm of New Orleans that I wanted and the chain hotels do not. I felt like I went back in time, albeit with a nice modern bathroom and small kitchen area with a sink, microwave and mini-refrigerator.

The location could not be better, in the heart of The French Quarter, close to Bourbon Street, but far enough away from the noise and partying. It was a quick walk to everything — Cafe Du Monde, The French Market, Frenchman Street, Riverwalk, Streetcars, etc.

The room was very clean and the staff were very nice, accommodating and helpful in getting around and providing recommendations for food and things to do in the area. Complimentary snacks and water (it was hot!) were very appreciated. Seeing the cats just hanging out was very cool too.

Alas, nothing is perfect. Despite having ample lamps, the room was still very dark. Also, there was just the keyed door lock on the knob. There was once a door chain lock, but that was removed. I would have felt safer with the chain lock too. Finally, the ceilings in the bathroom and second floor loft are low. I am 5’ 8”, and it did not affect me, but I couldn’t help but think how this room could be a problem for a 6’ plus person.

Overall, great experience and I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you for making my first visit to New Orleans a memorable one!

We had such a disappointing stay. Based on the reviews and the price we paid, I was expecting good things. We checked in and the guy on reception rushed me so much, I’d barely stepped through the door before he asked for my ID (I literally hadn’t even put my bags down). No conversation or friendliness. The room was in a dreadful state - ratty carpet, dead flies, threadbare towels and dust everywhere. Housekeeping was so poor. Our bed was made ONCE in a four day stay. We’d come back from a day out and find the bed still unmade - it appears housekeeping came in, changed our towels and left. After two days of bad cleaning with no removal of dust or dead flies I went to reception to raise my concerns. The receptionist said ‘I’m actually really busy right now and housekeeping have left for the day’ and told me to come back later because he was so busy. What a complete joke and so unacceptable. There was no apology and no offer of a resolution. Unsurprisingly, when I came back the receptionist wasn’t there. I just cannot believe how dismissive the receptionist was of our concerns and how bad the housekeeping was. For the price we paid, it is completely unacceptable. I would avoid this hotel like the plague. Such a disappointing way to end our trip as New Orleans was fantastic; customer service was fantastic everywhere except this hotel.

Great place! Historical, so naturally it has some rough edges, definitely not handicap accessible, too many steps after a doorway opening, etc, this will give you a bit of a surprise walking through a doorway that has an immediate step down.

But, oh so charming!
Staff were helpful, recommendations to great restaurants within walking distance. Love the kitties and they love their home!

So after dark on weekends, cars tooling around the block and blasting their stereo system, one after another, rattling the windows makes it impossible for most folks to sleep. You just have to be ready for that, with earplugs and such. But, it is the French Quarter!

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and I have to say, it was such a great experience! The look and feel of this hotel is so New Orleans, from the antique-ish furniture and look of the rooms, to the fountains, pool, and vegetation. The staff was super nice and attentive, especially the cats! Yes, there are three office cats! It’s conveniently located a few steps off bourbon Street and within walking distance of the French market. Five stars all the way from me. Hope you enjoy as well!

Great property in the perfect location. Unfortunately we had issues during check in that were a bit disappointing. Clerk checked us in to the wrong room, which involved hauling our luggage across the street and up 2 flights of stairs, then back down to relocate to correct room. No apologies offered, so that’s sort of ruined our first night. Other than that great property!

Room was small. Bathroom toilet didn’t work properly. Sink drain stopper was missing. Bed wasn’t comfortable, and bedding was old and outdated. No tissues supplied in room. Towels were old. No soap or shampoo holder in shower. No shampoo or conditioner supplied.

For the price we paid to stay in this hotel, we expected much higher quality. Didn’t get it. If considering this hotel, we suggest to others that they pass.

Location afforded easy access to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, and also mitigated the noisy crowds and atmosphere of the party scene. The variety of rooms available adds curiosity to a return visit in the future to try them out. Overall pleasant experience.

This was our 2nd time staying here but in a different room, 203. Unfortunately, this time my boyfriend got eaten alive by bedbugs the 2nd night. He stopped counting at 50 bites. A week later and they are still bothering him horribly on his arms, ankles, back, butt, and hands. When we showed the lady at the front desk his bites the next morning, she said she'd let the owner know and take care of it - for us to go and enjoy our day. When we arrived back that night after our day's activities, they offered for us to change rooms, but we declined since it was so late and we were leaving the next day. When I asked if our sheets had at least been change, the gentleman could not verify that had been done. When we left the next morning, a third person asked how our stay was and we again showed him my boyfriend's bites and he deducted the cost of our parking. We had no problem the first time when we stayed in room 216 so we would be willing to give them another try because we really like the location and decor. It's hard to find a place in the French Quarter with a microwave in the room! But bedbugs are a very hard pill to ignore. My boyfriend is more forgiving than me. If I'd gotten eaten like he had, there is no way I'd stay here again.

No a/c in the more expensive room that we paid for. Termite infestation in smaller room we were moved to. The staff did not seem surprised by any of this and while they were nice, they were not particularly helpful. It was an ordeal just to get the batteries in the remote changed.
Great location and beautiful property. Too bad it is so poorly maintained.
Do yourself a favor and stay at Royal Sonesta around the corner.

The room was just as I expected it. It was nice, quiet, clean and spacious. Just steps away from bourbon street without the noise. The front door kitties are nice. Hands down, the coolest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The place is stunning, rich in character and authentic charm. It was like being in another world and another time. Each room is unique and lovely. The staff is friendly and superb! They made us lattes and serenaded us with guitar. The pool was refreshing with a great atmosphere. It was the ultimate New Orleans experience. Favorite Hotel experience Ive ever had anywhere in the World! Quintessential New Orleans vibe. Everything is unique and interesting, with thoughtful and creative attention to every detail. Dont think there is a single piece of particle board furniture in the building. We had the loft single King balcony overlooking the street. We're night people so any street noise didn't bother us, the walls in our were solid thick, but in any case, they had fans on both side of bed and sound machine. I enjoy watching the street activity but courtyard rooms would certainly be more quiet.

The staff is incredible, as are the cats which always made my day. Francis in particular, always went above and beyond with recommendations, helping us out, and entertaining us.

Location is perfect right in the quarter. Far enough away from chaos of Bourbon, but its right around the corner. All the art galleries of Royal St are just beyond and Jackson Square is just a few more blocks, with endless options for food, drinks, shopping or whatever your heart desires.

Saying much more would spoil surprises. This will always be home in New Orleans going forward. Can't recommend enough. The rate was higher for Jazzfest, but fair market and totally worth it. Thank you Olivier House Hotel!

When you stay in the French Quarter, what are you looking for? If it's accessibility to touristy sights and food, this is the place. If you want history and culture, this is the place. If it's top notch hospitality with a feeling of comfort and home (complete with resident cats), this is the place. If you are looking for sterility of life, then move along. This was beautiful. The staff were not just friendly but people were literally hanging out with them almost all the time. Of course the room was clean. It was wood, carpet, exposed brick, tile, courtyards, art, and a perfect blend of the 1830s with modern amenities. There will be stairs. They may be wet if it rains. Keep that in mind. Otherwise perfect.

This is such a charming hotel. I love the artsy antique decor and the friendly hotel cats. My most favorite part of the hotel is the staff. I have been so thoughtfully supported in so many ways when i needed help or was forgetful that just go above and beyond regular hospitality. I feel so safe staying here as a solo woman traveller and enjoy visiting with fellow guest in the luxurious lobby sitting room. And they even let me play the piano. Such a gem.

This is an old, quaint hotel. That being said, our room was extremely musty (poor air quality). We stayed for two nights. Upon check out, I went to tidy up after we packed our belongings and I discovered that I had been sleeping on a pillow case that was extremely filthy on the other side. The staff was friendly enough, the location was good, but I would not stay here again.

This hotel is beautiful with bags of character, close enough to the action but far enough away for some peace. John was really friendly and gave us some great tips throughout our stay and the hotel cats were an added bonus for us.

My husband and I loved this hotel! It's close enough to all the French Quarter action, yet its courtyards offer a serene respite. The decor was anything but cookie-cutter, and every staff member was helpful and kind. Highly recommend....unless your taste runs to bland and boring!

Great location in the French Quarter. it is definitely not a cookie-cutter hotel. Lots of large, quirky -in a fun way- rooms. Be advised though: some of the rooms (those called they are labeled Casa Xiques) are actually in another building across the street which cuts you off from some of the nice courtyards and the pool. That was where we stayed but that wasn't made clear ahead of time. The room was quiet and large. Some of the amenities need to be updated: The small soap was not in a soap dish so the sink got slimy. The bed linens were outdated and not very nice. The TV was too far from the bed making it hard to see - and was not a smart TV so you could not watch streaming shows easily. But there was a second TV in the sitting area which was a smart tv. While there was a refrigerator and stove there were no plates or utensils, so that was odd. The floors were cold and they need more rugs especially near the bed which is a very high one by the way. We felt comfortable, not cramped, and safe and the price was fair but these factors made it less than fully enjoyable.

The Olivier House is very unique and full of antiques and older furnishings, so you need very clean and new this isn’t your hotel. We stayed in a separate building around the corner that was historical and we had a kitchen. I had to ask for a kitchen towel but otherwise had enough dishes so we could cook eggs for breakfast a few of the mornings. There is a complete coffee station in the main hotel. The suite was very spacious and the king bed was very comfortable. Since our building was further from Bourbon Street it was nice and quiet! The A/C was kicking most of the time. The staff was welcoming and helpful.
