This is hands down a 5 star hotel. The hotel is on an amazing property with an amazing view from the rooms. The rooms have a heated hot tub on the patio and the vibe is very nice. The pools are heated, so you can enjoy at any time. The food at the restaurant was solid , and the staff makes up for the rest since everyone is very nice. They transport you around on golf carts when ever needed, and get your car for you so you don’t have to walk around. The spa was a 10/10, from the setting to the actual massage. This is a place I’d revisit.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic, one of the best I have ever been too. The room was beautiful, exactly as pictured. We loved not just the in deck hot tub, but the pools as well and the 98 degree pool bar. Pools are open 24 hours and are very warm, so even in the rain it was amazing. The chocolate cake at the bakery was sublime. The staff was absolutely fantastic. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an absolutely 5* experience.

From the moment we arrived at Amor Arenal—welcomed by Abigail’s calming energy after our long drive from San José—to the moment we checked out, everything was exceptional. Every team member we met was warm and attentive. Crystal stood out for her friendly, knowledgeable guidance on the local wildlife; Griselda for her restorative, soulful wellness session; and Jhonny for his consistently kind and thoughtful service.

The team at El Rancho was also wonderful, and the food was outstanding—fresh, flavourful, and beautifully authentic. Every meal impressed us.

Our spa experience was memorable as well—from the soothing aromas and ginger-lemon tea to the Sleepy Sloth ritual with Tibetan bowls, hot stones, and essential oils.

And our casita was the true highlight: beautifully designed, with incredible volcano views from both the private hot pool and the breathtaking shower.

The only regret was that we didn’t stay longer…could not recommend this destination more.

Amor Arenal absolutely took my breath away. I’d put it right up there with Nayara Springs—just on a smaller, more intimate scale. The private villas are pure luxury, with stunning wooden architecture that blends beautifully with the natural surroundings. Everything is thoughtfully designed for comfort: powerful AC, a dehumidifier, excellent water pressure, and perfectly hot showers.

The mini fridge is a dream—stocked daily with complimentary sangria (honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had), beer, and a selection of nonalcoholic drinks. Despite the villas being side by side, the layout gives you complete privacy. You never feel like you’re sharing space; it’s your own personal sanctuary.

The food was another highlight. I couldn’t get enough of the fresh fruit juices and local fruit each morning. The beef dishes were fantastic—especially the traditional beef, beans, and rice plate, and the lomo saltado, which was packed with flavor.

One of my favorite features of the property was the private trails. We loved exploring them and spotting wildlife right from our own hot spring! Each morning, toucans would stop by to say hello—it felt magical.

And the staff? Absolutely exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made us feel like royalty from start to finish.

I honestly can’t wait to return. Amor Arenal is first-class in every way.

The Spa was a disaster for me, the Lady that massaged me was brutal and would not let off the pressure either. I was in tears after it, I hope this is a one off incident. They did not charge me for it because my husband mentioned it to them which was nice, but nothing further was done. The drinks were good but way too expensive, this led us not to use the restaurant because of all the extra charges they put on top of the price mentioned. The staff was kind and helpful, the premises was beautiful but be ready to hike, very hilly, this was fine for us but may be a problem for other.

We celebrated our anniversary and my birthday and the staff really made an effort to make us feel special.

The stay at amor arenal was amazing and worth every penny to me and my wife. We enjoyed the service as they were ready to help a phone call away especially when it came to spotting wildlife like sloths or toucans. The breakfast here was amazing as well and we enjoyed the open scenery to the rainforest while eating. The rooms were open and free with an abundance of privacy which made it perfect with the scenes of the rainforest and on clear days you can see the amazing volcano.

Our stay was amazing. From the time we arrived from the gate to the time we left. The concierge, valet, and everyone in the resort were so friendly and accommodating. They treated us like we are family. Every time we dine in the restaurant they knew who we are and accommodated my son who is gluten free. I would highly recommend this resort. Our room has our own jacuzzi and amazing views of the arenal volcano. Our shower has rain shower head and Amazing view of the volcano as well while showering. They refill the bar every morning.

The Hotel Amor Arenal is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The private casita is a little sanctuary nestled in the jungle, allowing you to experience the jungle from the safety and luxurious comfort of its well-crafted rooms. You will feel like a cast member in The White Lotus. The best parts:
1. The view of the Arenal volcano is stunning, but clouds often hide it. That's ok because there is plenty to look at with complex patterns of tropical plants crossing a valley and ridges.
2. Wake to the sound of parrots and howler monkeys
3. Sip morning coffee from your own personal deck and hot tub.
3. Take a dip in your choice of three beautiful pools - one with a swim-up bar that is heated and a cool pool with a waterfall.
4. Animal sightings - from snakes, to green-eyed tree frogs, slots, parrots, monkeys.
5. The grounds are meticulously cared for - secluded and safe with stone pathways, an open air restaurant, meditation decks and two hiking trails on property that are the right amount of challenge.
6. Extremely accommodating service and staff.

You really don't have to (or will want to) leave the property. They have everything you need from a coffee house and gym on premise to a spa and trails.

My only recommendation for the hotel is better weather stripping beneath the doors so that the jungle stays out. We had a couple of gecko and bug visitors that managed their way in. Who could blame them, though!

My boyfriend and I loved everything about the property! There are golf carts to take you everywhere around the property at anytime and umbrellas available on every corner in case of rain. The food and service was amazing each time. We had the same waitress our whole entire stay(Cindy) who was super sweet and patient with us! Cindy is amazing. We are so happy we met her. Every other staff member we interacted with was awesome as well and very helpful. This property was very romantic and intimate. It also had everything we needed. THANK YOU AMOR ARENAL!

Horrible Customer Service: Gina Sepulveda

Gina Sepulveda, operations manager, was the most rude, hostile employee our family has encountered in all of our travels. We had reservations and plans for months largely due to traveling with a disabled daughter. We traveled from the US and upon arrival at the hotel gate Gina stopped us and told us that we were not allowed on the property. That my family of 5 needed to make other arrangements due to the fact that we had a 12 year old, not their 13 year old minimum age policy. NO ONE had communicated this policy to us once during months of prior communication to set up spa treatments, wheelchair access, etc. My girls were told to go sit to the side while we waited 45 minutes to speak with the hotel manager. My 12 year old was in tears because she was made to feel like this was all of her fault. This treatment by Gina Sepulvedo was cruel, aggressive, and the opposite of \"Pure Vida\". Costa Rica is a beautiful place and we had a wonderful experience until this heartbreaking and humiliating encounter. Our last night of vacation. Gina, you should be ashamed of yourself and Amor Arenal, you need to do better. Customer service and how you treat people is everything.
Fortunately, the Springs Resort welcomed our family last minute and treated us with the same kindness and hospitality we had been shown throughout Costa Rica.

We stayed at Amor Arenal for 3 nights and had the most amazing time. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the room was beautiful and the facilities in the room were brilliant. All staff were incredible, from check in to the restaurants. The food at the restaurant was also incredible! We managed to see the volcano from our room and the restaurant, so beautiful. It isn’t walking distance to anything but that didn’t matter for us. The yoga & meditation platform was under construction while we were there unfortunately but other than that, it was faultless!

Amor Arenal is truly an oasis. This was a birthday trip for my wife and both a first in CR. The facility has breathtaking rooms and venue and lacking NOTHING! This was honestly one of the best vacations we have ever been on. The hotel was definitely 5 stars. The room was something out of a magazine and the grounds are beautiful and lush. The fact that the hotel only has 30 or so casitas, makes it feel like you have the whole resort to yourself sometimes. The free breakfast was always the highlight of our day as we tried all the wonderfully delicious options with the costarican breakfast being our favorite. The staff was also very helpful at all times. Anything we needed, all we had to do was ask and they would see it done. Ronald our service was terrific, Carlos and Jogebeth were fantastic concierge. Steven, Mauricio, Kelvin and Cindy were also some who contributed to our beautiful vacation. The casitas all have an amazing jacuzzi that we used every day, even in the rain. And speaking of rain, it did rain every day of our vacation but it never stopped us from venturing to town for dinner or to the waterfalls and hanging bridges. The rain was just as beautiful. Thank you all for making this the best time ever. We hope to be back very soon.

The staff are exceptional!!!!!!! Everyone is so pleasant, helpful, and accommodating!!! Jogebeth pleasantly greeted me at the reception desk and explanation everything I needed to know. She is very warm, patient, and has superb customer service. She also had great suggestions for things to do on and off the resort.

I’ve been to nearly 60 countries and my room at Amor Arenal was definitely top 3 rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was magical and equipped with everything even a humidifier and kettlebells!!!!!!! I really felt so comfortable and at home!!!!! Jogebeth was also so kind and decorated my room for my birthday!!!!!! I greatly appreciate her making it a special surprise!!!!!! Thank you very much!!!!

The service at the restaurants was top tier! The staff at the spa were all so lovely and the massage was super relaxing & enjoyable!!!! I also really liked the free yoga session!!!! Great way to begin my morning!!! The pools and gym were very nice as well!!!!!!!!

From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted with the biggest smiles and open arms. Our casita was absolutely gorgeous, and they pay attention to the little details which I appreciate more than anything else. The staff is incredibly friendly and nice, making you feel right at home. The food at their restaurants is seriously impressive, even their Indian dishes are surprisingly delicious. If you're looking for a true Costa Rican food experience, I highly recommend it. Carmen and Cindy were our servers that night and they were absolutely awesome, but honestly, every staff member here is equally amazing. I can't stress enough how much I recommend this hotel. I genuinely wish the owner the best of luck so I can come back soon!

Amor Arenal far surpasses any place I’ve ever stayed on vacation. It was overall a MAGICAL experience if I could give it one word. Every single detail of the resort is made to maximize your experience. The casita was stunningly beautiful, private and I felt like royalty being there. The staff all are genuinely kind and go above and beyond to make sure you get everything you want or need. The breakfast was huge and fabulous. The dinner menu at the main restaurant was the only thing I was disappointed with. The cheapest dinners are $25-35 which I don’t mind paying but the dinners we got were bland and very average in my opinion. I understand that most resorts try to cater to the general populations taste. The best meals we had in CR were the ones in local restaurants on the side of the roads when traveling town to town. All and all Amor Arenal I very highly recommend.

The cottages are very very beautiful, spacious, private and with a fantastic view on the vulcano.
The kitchen is good, especially the 6 course gastronomic menu.

We had an amazing time at Amor Arenal! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our trip. They answered any questions we had. This is one my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. The room was beautiful and we loved the wood and rock used. The shower room with view of the Volcano was absolutely amazing as was the outside space. The bed was so comfortable and we enjoyed having a couple movie channels to watch in downtime. The complimentary mini bar and breakfast was very appreciated. We can’t say enough about the wonderful staff, they anticipated needs and were so thoughtful and fun. We were lucky we were able to see the Volcano so often, and we really enjoyed seeing the Toucans outside our deck! The bungalows were close together but very private, everything was well done!!

The place was absolutely beautiful. The casita was beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. We absolutely loved everything about the hotel and the staff service was superb. The only thing we did not like so much was the food for lunch and dinner. Everything else was phenomenal. If the hotel could provide a breakfast buffet and a more aunthentic menu, that would make it so much better. The personal jacuzzi in the room and the volcano views were amazing! The staff super friendly and accommodating.

Amor Arenal was incredible. The private pool with the view of the volcano made everything. Oscar was wonderful, he not only was great in helping us get around the resort but spent time showing us a pregnant mom sloth and bringing Berny over to look through his telescope. Such a wonderful way to end our honeymoon, they gave us chocolates, sparkling wine, and flowers as well. The staff and service were great. Would recommend to anything looking to relax, have a beautiful view, delicious food, and a great location for grabbing a taxi into the town of La Fortuna.

Amor Arsenal was amazing!! The whole property is beautiful and extremely well kept. The staff is very attentive and quick with any requests. The team also assisted us with setting up an itinerary for our stay and everything was perfect with no hiccups at all. Food was great with a lot of options. Rooms are beautiful, large, and very comfortable. We did everything on site we could from yoga, meditation, pools, trails, spa, ate at all restaurants and had a great experience at every single thing. I would highly recommend Amor Arenal and hope to go back one day!

The only place to stay in Costa Rica

We stayed in 4 different places in Costa Rica. Amor Arenal was the BEST place by far! If we come back, this is the only place we will stay. We have never stayed at a place where customer service was at the level of this hotel. From the check in process where you relax in the reception area on comfortable couches with drinks and snacks, with a personalized orientation of the property, to the golf cart ride to your personal casita with the \"wow\" factor as the door is opened for you. The accommodations were exceptional, private, very quiet, gorgeous, exposed wood, very tasteful touches, spacious, clean, fully stocked complimentary mini bar, home made chocolates to enjoy, jacuzzi spa on the patio with views of the rain forest and Arenal volcano, comfortable beds, netflix, wonderful bath products. The restaurant was exceptional, food excellent including the \"order off the menu\" complimentary HUGE breakfast with views of the volcano. We also did the tasting menu at the hotel's Costa Rican restaurant which was so fun and delicious. We did the complimentary guided hike around the rain forest hotel grounds which was very interesting. A special shout out to special hotel employees we met: Enrique, restaurant manager, Laura, reception, Raquel, customer service, Raquel, restaurant hostess, Oscar and Wilson, golf cart drivers / bellhops, Benny, hike tour guide. We can't say enough positive things about this hotel. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

Stay here. Don't hesitate. I have stayed in a few spots in the area and this was the absolute best luxury spot - quiet, serene and calm. Staff was fantastic. It felt like we were the only people in the place.
