We liked the feeling of being tucked away in a beautiful tropical retreat in the city. The place was quiet and we slept great. We ate a delicious dinner at the restaurant. The stay was very convenient and the hostess was very helpful and communicative.

The property is like a jail they have a gate that needs to be opened to enter or exit. The parking lot is terrible you cannot park easily and take out the car. Property is old and needs improvements. AC didn’t work one night and fans don’t work. For same price or a few bucks more you can get much better accomodation.

Property is gated, with beautiful landscaping. Friendly staff in reception 24 hrs. I had 2 rooms, both of which had no hot water nor water pressure. One room also didn’t have air conditioning late at night. Pool water was not clear. I can hear the big trucks and motorcycles all day. The stay was not worth the price paid. Rooms were very small.

I forgot my phone at the car rental counter at San Jose airport and I can’t thank James enough for all his help in calling the necessary authorities to get my phone back. Bon endroit pour 1 nuit près de l'aéroport

L'hôtel est bien. C'est calme. Le petit déjeuner est correct mais redondant si on y est comme nous 3 jours. Aliments chauds, oeufs brouillés et Gallo Pinto seulement. Le personnel n'est pas très souriant. Bon endroit tranquille pour y passer une seule nuit pas trop loin de l'aéroport.

Tranquil place of rest

Flowers and tranquility! We got in late from the airport and found everything perfect. There was a security guard on site who let us in and we found our room without any problem. There is a friendly cat and a wonderful delicious breakfast as well as delicious food if you choose to have dinner or lunch at the hotel. I will definitely be returning next time. I’m in Costa Rica.

The place is gorgeous and well kept. The staff are quite helpful and always kind. The breakfasts are free and very delicious with protein options. I was surprised and delighted with the cups of peanut butter. Eggs, rice and banana cake are staples. The coffee is always good and some days exceptional with fresh milk as an option. You will find that the coffee in Costa Rica is never bad like it can be other places. The housekeeper Ana was super kind and helpful, very personable. The room had fresh flowers and/or herbs, a delight. The rooms are simple but aesthetically thoughtful. I took a dip in the pool at night and it was refreshing, though cold. The grounds are exceptionally well designed and beautiful and there are many places to sit and enjoy the gardens, listen to the birds, and there is a resident cat, friendly but keeps to himself. It's a rural area, yet there are several yummy restaurants nearby and a bar.
The only difficulty was getting around. It's about a 15-20 minute Uber ride to the airport. There are public buses but I didn't have time to learn the system. Driving around San José is pretty chaotic. I was glad I didn't rent a car. Next time, I would stay a night, take a bus to another part of the country, rent a car and explore from there, bus back to Alejuela, stay and return home.
There is a pharmacy and a mini Mart within walking distance, as well as, the many restaurants.
The walks and strolls were lovely. It is a safe quiet neighborhood. The hotel is gated.

Nice for a quick stay

Great place. We stayed for 1 night, quiet and clean. Breakfast is traditional eggs rice/beans and fruit. Great fir a quick snack. The water in the shower varies between hit and cold but you need to either take it early in morning or later at night . We did have ants appear but we took care of it. All and all nice cozy place for a family of 5.

When I came back from a day of excursion on day 2, the room was getting invaded by ants, so I went to ask for a can of repellent, but the attendant said none was available. She graciously switched me to an adjacent room, but once again the room had no towels, so I had to ask again for the same request or the second room. The breakfast was mediocre, at best. The eggs were green/grey in color, and when i asked the worker, she sdaid it was be auze they did not use milk. I did not press them on this, but simply put, the eggs were not appetizing visually, or physically.

Wonderful little haven away from the bustling city

This little boutique hotel was absolutely perfect. Not only did it have rooms that could sleep all 6 of us, they are little individual casitas. The grounds were beautiful, and was only accessible behind a gate so we felt very safe parking and walking around the property. Pool was large and clean. Didn’t get to try breakfast as we left at 5:30am but check in was super easy and the front desk gentlemen was very kind and helpful. We did have to get another towel as they only gave us 5 but that was easy enough. Would definitely stay here again, as it’s only 15 min from SJO

I stayed just for 1 night and loved the lil ole casitas so full of caracter.
The grounds were beautiful and I enjoyed walking around the property full of well kept plants.
The food in the restaurant was good and yummy.
The property is mostly well kept except the front door needed some repair to rid gaps to keep bugs out however I only seen 1 ant.
I felt safe there as a solo female traveler.
Lady at reception was nice as well as 2 of the male worker but my waitress wasnt all that personable.
Over all good experience so yes would stay again.

This is a quaint property I selected due to its close proximity to the airport. Although the furnishings are dated, they are of good quality and well maintained and the property is very clean. The rooms have AC (not needed due to excellent cross ventilation with open louvered windows), TV, and comfortable beds. I was able to sit outside reading and relaxing, surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The pool is a good size. The small restaurant has well prepared food for breakfast (included in room cost) and dinner (additional). The staff, who are all courteous, directed me to the wildlife rescue center ( about 1/2 mile down the street) which was an excellent afternoon activity where I was able to observe and read about all of the wildlife in Costa Rica. I was comfortable, well fed and safe.

Loved Hotel La Rosa

We started and ended our trip to Costa Rica at hotel La Rosa. Our rental car was dropped off to us there and picked back up there, and we used their airport shuttle service. It was so easy and convenient, and I appreciated not having to drive at the airport or in San Jose.

The grounds are lovely, the staff are very nice and helpful and the meals are excellent.

I would highly recommend staying here. Getting a shuttle to the airport was so easy. We had to leave the hotel at 2:30am, and the driver arrived at 2:15 and carried out all our bags. There isn't much around the hotel, but there is a restaurant on the premises. It was convienent and was authentic Costa Rican food. The rooms and grounds were well kept, clean, and beautiful. Most everyone spoke English, which was helpful. The hotel is gated off, which added a layer of security. There aren't many rooms, which was a positive selling point, in my opinion.

Our flight was delayed so we didn’t get in until close to midnight. I called the hotel and they said no worries to ring at the gate at they would let us in. They had a nice security man who let us in and showed us to our room. Although we didn’t have a much time to enjoy the quaint and lovely hotel it was clean comfortable and beautiful place where we rested well after our 22 hour journey to Costa Rica. Breakfast was plentiful; free buffet style of traditional Costa Rican food, eggs, fruits rice and beans, cereal coffee and juice. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived past midnight at SJO. The hotel arranged a shuttle to meet us at the airport and it was only $30 for six of us. When we arrived at the hotel, a security guard was waiting for us with the key and a note with the WiFI password. I really felt the hotel took care of our late arrival. We unfortunately only had a very short time here, checked in around 10 because of flight delays and left around 630 the next morning for a jungle outing. Because of our limited time, we didn't get a chance to really enjoy the property, but we did take a quick dip in the pool and slept great. It is clean and beautiful and the check in check out was super easy. We missed their breakfast and our only disappointment was they wouldn't do a little brown bag breakfast for us. We were leaving for a rafting trip early and would have LOVED to take something with us to go. Otherwise, GREAT place in San Jose.

Sweet little escape from the city. Very Comfortable and very kind staff. Our shower didn’t have hot water and it was taken care of immediately. Grateful to have stayed in such a sweet little place.

Property was in general well maintained and staff was helpful. It was quiet and relaxing. While not much negative, a few minor comments - Restaurant is supposed to be open from 2 PM to 8 PM, but seems to open a bit late and one day it did not open at all. Also, shower water pressure would sometime become low.

Clean, functional stay

Convenient for flying in to San Hose. Functional hotel set in beautiful tropical gardens. Breakfast was adequate but lacked variety. Portions very small especially the fruit and bread.
