Great location, 2 min away from the pedestrianised central zone. Had a kids playground in the square across the road and an empanada cafe at the entrance so made for a very easy start to the day. Useful if arriving by taxi late in the eve as we did, without the challenge of needing to lug our luggage into the pedestrianized zone.

Lovely hotel near the cathedral, museums, restaurants, train and bus stations, rental car and all you need for your Santiago de Compostela visit. Front desk representative was excellent and spoke English. I appreciated the hair dryer and hot water kettle for my tea. I highly recommend.

Very near the centre of Santiago and less than 100 meters to the airport shuttle bus for the airport. Trips to Finisterre left from a stop less than 150 meters away.

Probably my only dislike was the mattress was not too comfortable but I got around that as there was a mattress topper in the wardrobe.

The room was clean and had everything l needed. The front desk staff was exceptional with helping me find where l needed to go and suggesting things to do. The location is great. It is walking distance from the cathedral but in a modern part of the city on the edge of the old city. There are great restaurants nearby.

Can't be better!

I loved my stay at Fornos. The room was quite spacious and very clean, and having a bathtub was an absolute bonus after being on the trek for 6 days. The location is also excellent - only 5 minutes walk to the Santiago Cathedral and literally cross the road from the airport bus stop, and 5 minutes from a big, proper Carrefour supermarket. The staff there were so very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit.

Won't be back!!

I booked a few days here after completing my Camino to Santiago. I'd been expecting some rough nights on the road, and just wanted somewhere cheap but comfortable to relax for my final few days. While relatively cheap, comfortable isn't a word I can honestly use of this place. Access was from the street next to a shop, usually with drunks and/or beggars sitting on the kerb at all hours, an apartment door that didn't lock without a good deal of persuasion, a room considerably smaller than the photos made it look, a bed that smelt damp and musty, a cockroach in the shower, the shower door jammed one morning and I didn't think I was going to get out, if I opened the window I was assailed by noise from the building opposite (almost touchable out the bedroom window). I didn't feel unsafe as such, nothing much fazes me after years of travelling alone, but with people upstairs who spent most of the night either arguing or dragging furniture about, I have to say I came home and fell into my own bed with a palpable sense of relief. I can't fault the staff, who were nice and welcoming, nor the location - only a few minutes walk from the start of the old mediaeval bit of Santiago with bars, restaurants etc easily on hand (do check out Malak on Rua Orfeo for excellent veggie food) - and I applaud the photographer they used to make this place look as nice as it does; he deserves awards. This hotel, however, does not.

Would opt for other accommodations !

1. wi-fi did not work in the room even though they said it did - had to sit in lobby to use wi-fi

2. No bath mat for the tub which was very slippery - could have easily fallen - no safety bar

3. Water temperature would go from very hot to very cold within seconds - made the slippery tub even more hazardous

4. The reception desk is on the third floor - you don't know they have an elevator (lift) until you've carried all your luggage or pack upstairs to the reception desk

5. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the street and was very noisy with traffic

6. In-house laundry was 16 euros and you had to leave it overnight - we went to a laundromat about 2.5 blocks away

7. Entry way to hotel not marked very well - we were confused for a couple of minutes until we spotted the door bell - when we rang the bell they buzzed the door to let us in

8. All that being said it was convenient and located close to the cathedral

It was a little hard to find, but instead I did enjoy discovering the immediate area in search of the hotel; non of the signage is at eye level.

The only negative was the thin walls between rooms. I could hear the folks next to me, and I assumed they could hear me too.

The staff were wonderful and always checking if needed anything new or cleaned. They really added gloss to my stay. They don't speak English, but bygod they try.

The location was also perfect in the end - very central, which had the airport shuttlebus stop right outside and it is close to the train station, which was perfect for my early morning departure.

Simple, but very nice

We stayed here after finishing the Camino de Santiago. The place was in a good location, the price was excellent, and the room very clean and exactly what we needed. The staff were extremely friendly. We shipped some things ahead of time before finishing the walk...including art we bought along the way and it was all there waiting for us. We also left some bags there....took a trip to Finisterre and came back to Santiago the following day for a midnight train to Madrid...and they were fine leaving bags there until our train was ready - 2 days after check out. So great place.

Comfortable hotel in convenient location

Just a short distance from the railway station and 100 metres from the edge of the old city, this is an excellent location for a stay. The staff were really friendly and provided directions to locations and shops in the vicinity. The only thing to point out is that the road from the railway station is quite a climb (involving steps) - excellent on the way down but you may wish to pay for a taxi if you have a large suitcase on the way up!

Location of Hostal Residencia Fornos was fab, I chose it because the airport bus stop is across the small playground outside the hotel and the good value price. It is only metres from the old town centre, couldn't be better location wise. My only problem was the level of noise outside even being on the 4th floor the street noise is terrible as the windows aren't double glazed so I lost a lot of sleep!

Helpful and friendly staff, very clean and comfortable rooms, BUT... be sure to ask for a room that is NOT facing the front of the hotel. There is a park directly across the street and noise from rowdy outside party crowds begins around midnight and doesn't stop until about 5:30am every night. The walls are paper thin and there was non stop shouting the entire week we were there. Friends had a room on the other side and they were able to sleep without the noise. Other than that the place was great. Perfect location, walking distance to everything.

We needed to change our booking as our ferry was postponed by 2 days, and we were able to do this via email to the hotel. The location was excellent, though the hotel was a bit hard to find and could have more prominent signage. We came by car and found that parking on meters was cheap and easy, though it would have been nice if the hotel staff could have told us more about where to park. Very good value.

Everything was excellent, especially the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, none of whom could be faulted. There's always someone on duty, so if you go out you don't have to bother about a key and can return when you wish. The only downside for me was the noise from outiside through the night, but they are aware of this and I could have had a different room had I asked. The room was immaculately clean and the bathroom really luxurious!

Great location but EARPLUGS ESSENTIAL

This is more of a pension than a hotel but the room was clean and comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was finished to a good standard. However the walls are PAPER THIN. I am a heavy sleeper but on the first night I was woken innumerable times till I used my EARPLUGS.

Perfect End to the Camino de Santiago

I stayed here just after finishing the Camino de Santiago walk (from Pamplona) and prior to my departure to walk to Finisterre. The hotel was quite comfortable and the staff was extremely courteous. The location is just outside of the old city of Santiago, less than a 7 minute walk from the Cathedral. There are plenty of banks/ATM´s, supermarkets and restaurants within close walking distance. My room was clean, modern, spacious, smartly appointed and very quiet - perfect for a good rest.

Great Find in Santiago

Very clean hostal with a great price. Loved the location. You are within walking distance to Cathedral & all the tourist shops but you are also by the shops where the locals go so you have more reasonable priced restaurant choices, grocery stores and bookstores. The staff spoke English & were very nice, caring and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was excellent for no frills accommodation. It did not have a restaurant, bar or breakfast or any other services. But is was exceptionally convenient (located 100 metres from the entrance to the old town) was very clean and comfortable and at a very low price. The only drawback was the noise outside of party goers leaving the old town in he early morning - but this would be the same for any hotel in the area. Don't be put off by the austere entrance way.

Ni fú ni fá.

Un hosta en el centro de Santiago a 45€/noche (sin desayuno) en agosto no está mal. Lo peor es que son unos jetas. Estuvimos 2 noches y no nos hicieron la habitación. Preguntamos qué pasaba y nos dijeron que si tendríamos colgado el NO MOLESTEN, lo cual es falso. Fíjate si son caraduras, que nos dijeron que tenían concertado un garaje cerca del hotel, y hasta nos sellaron el ticket del parking. Pero cuando fuimos a recoger el coche para irnos, el guarda nos dijo que ellos no tenían concertado con ese hotel (y nos enseñó la lista de hoteles concertados) ¡Alucinante! Suerte que nos cobró el precio concertado con los otros hoteles: 9€/24h.

Hostal pequeño de gestión familiar, limpio, acogedor, actualizado y, muy céntrico.
Precio muy razonable para el servicio.
Como pegas , habitación algo pequeña, faltaba ventilación en baño, y en la habitación pues no se podía abrir ventanas sin abrir persianas con la consiguiente entrada del luz , también algo ruidoso pues da justo a la calle. La cama cómoda .

War zum Dritten Mal im Fornos. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Mitarbeitende an der Rezeption. Dieses Mal hatte ich ein älteres Zimmer und laute Nachbarn (dünne Wände) im 2. Stock. Jedoch ruhig gelegen da „hinten hinaus“. Bequemes Bett. Sehr zentrale Lage. Im Hostal fühle ich mich sicher und die Gepäckaufbewahrung (auch mehrere Tage) klappt hervorragend.

Très bel hôtel à deux pas de la cité historique.

L’hôtel est situé à une cinquantaine de mètre de la cité historique. L'entrée, pas forcement facile à trouver est entre deux vitrines de magasins. L'accueil a lieu 24h/24, au deuxième étage du bâtiment.
