Location was great; but, room is extremely basic and not worth the price. There was mold on bathroom ceiling. Room needs to be cleaned and painted. An extra blanket in the dresser stunk badly when I opened the drawer so I just closed it back up. There's very little attention to detail in room maintenance.

We celebrated our anniversary in one of the tavern rooms on the Main Street in Williamsburg. Excellent location to walk to everything, good parking, friendly staff, and very quiet at night. The furnishings in our room were a bit worn, but it was very clean and the bed comfortable.

you are located right in the colonial area of Williamsburg which is really great . The rooms are small and it was a bit tough to connect with cleaning staff to make up our rooms. I am glad we tried it out, but I think I will head back to a more traditional hotel for a few more amentities

Check-in was confusing as directions to the house and parking was confusing as signage was poor or non-existent. Also the utilities and flooring needed updating/refreshing as the toilet and shower kept running/leaking, the shower pressure was terrible and the room was difficult to temperature control (thermostat didn't seem to work). I also called to request ice and an extra blanket to be delivered to the room and they failed to be delivered at the agreed upon time. We called again and had to wait almost an hour. Recommend staying at the main hotel or Williamsburg Inn.

Beautiful Place! Housekeeping Needs Help.

The room was kept clean, but housekeeping could use some pointers. I stayed for 3 nights. The first 2 nights that the room was cleaned, housekeeping left the door unlocked when they left. Due to the old locks, I always double-checked that the lock was engaged when we left for the day. The third night, housekeeping removed one of the pillows from the bed and left us short one. The way the \"houses\" are set up, we couldn't just call the front desk and request another one.

Very nice historic property, easy walkable and with many beautiful renovated and rebuils buildings from the colonial past. The standard doublerooms are pretty small and so are the beds. I would recommend booking a suite or a house for slightly more comfort.

Plenty of places to eat..ease of access…my only concern is I placed Do Not Disturb on outside of door and we left, came back to bed changed, new supplies, etc. Didn’t really want anyone in room when we occupied but it was fine. Thanks…Every Bellman was just plain awesome 👍🙏

Overall, the hotel was very nice, but unfortunately our stay was negatively impacted by a major issue: the air conditioning in our room was broken. We called the front desk, but they informed us that nothing could be done until the morning. They did not offer to move us to another room or even provide a fan. As a result, we were unable to sleep because the room was uncomfortably hot. It was clear the problem was specific to our room, as the hallway outside was significantly cooler. The front desk in the morning said the best they could do was refund us $30, which was disappointing.

We usually go several times a year to Williamsburg. This was the second time we stayed in the Colonial Houses. It’s a true experience. Nothing fancy but if you’re a Williamsburg enthusiasts like we are, then you would enjoy staying in the housing. They are conveniently located within walking distance to all the activities.

We booked one house and got booked in another house, which was fine, but odd- as the air conditioning upstairs did not work in the one we got rebooked to. The house was very clean and the overall experience was fine. There was an odd concierge who made a big deal about us booking through a different platform and not booking directly through them, which put us off from asking for any more support from the Inn.

Colonial Houses were well-located in the midst of Colonial Williamsburg, walkable despite the extreme heat. The Inn was lovely but we booked a colonial house through Expedia; the people we travelled with also booked a house directly through the Inn and were assigned a house 3x the size of ours at 50% less. We mentioned this to people we met who visit there annually and they said to never book through a third party for Colonial Houses - to get the best deal and better accommodations, book direct…an expensive lesson learned. The houses are comfortable but, as you might expect, dated. Overall, we had a nice stay but felt that value for the money we paid through Expedia was poor.

Colonial houses are an opportunity to stay right in the midst of historic Williamsburg . The location could not be any more convenient. We stayed at Brick House Tavern on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and the room nicely decorated. However the rooms were last updated about 30-40 years ago estimating by the fixtures, etc. The rooms rates are reasonable based on location but are not reasonable based on the out of date locks (old fashioned brass keys) , bathroom plumbing and scarcity of electric outlets . An upgrade is needed. The room was very clean and bed comfortable so the basics were there. With taxes and fees we paid just over $200 nightly . At that level an upgrade is appropriate.

Staying in a cottage within Colonial Williamsburg was a nice alternative to a regular hotel room and we appreciated having the extra space, peace, and fireplace.
Check in was frustrating, however, when they put us in a Tavern Room instead of the house we reserved. When I called the front desk to inform them of the mistake, the woman tried to tell me they were all booked up and if we didn't want the Tavern Room she could try to find something else but would charge us extra.
Obviously, this was unacceptable and thankfully I had the confirmation email showing that we booked and paid for a house with bed, sofa, and fireplace. Suddenly the tone changed and another woman at the check in counter miraculously found the house we were supposed to have.
Getting to the location proved annoying since nothing is labeled. We had to wander around the area trying to find the house that met the description given to us, and instead of there being 'plenty of parking' for our two vehicles, there was only on parking spot for our house.
After finally getting all that settled, the rest of the stay was very nice and we enjoyed being able to walk through Colonial Williamsburg to get to dinner, enjoy the Farmer's Market, and sit outside on the patio and get to know our sheep neighbors. The house itself was clean, comfortable, and everything we wanted when we originally made the reservation.
The check in process makes us not want to book here again, but essentially the stay was nice.

Overall a good stay. Admittedly expensive for what it feels like you receive but it’s a good location to Williamsburg. Check in was at a separate location, which is fine, but it was annoying that I couldn’t pick up my key at 3:30 when I was nearby the check in location. Understood that we didn’t have the room til 4, but considering they’re separate places it would have been nice to be able to get the key and just not go to the room until 4.

It was neat to stay in the middle of the Colonial Williamsburg property. The bedroom was nice, though cozy. Four poster bed, nice old furniture. So, snug but otherwise fine.
The bathroom has seen better decades. We didn't need a marble tub but somewhere other than the floor to place our toiletries bag would be nice. The toilet was institutional but had a toilet seat with a big ding in the lid because that type of toilet doesn't normally have a seat. The fixtures on the tub were from the 40's, so stopping the water from leaking required some wrist action.

My spouse and I just returned from a two-night stay in the Brick Tavern. We loved the convenience of being right on the street where we could walk to everything in the village. The building was most likely constructed in the 1930s and you will not be staying in a luxury room! We were on the third floor (which I liked) and the shower is in the dormer. I am 5'4\" and could just barely stand up in the middle of the shower. I cannot imagine a person over six feet tall would be comfortable in that shower. If you're tall, I would suggest you request a lower floor. I also would not plan on staying in that small space with someone you are not intimately comfortable with! The tub is also quite old and if you are concerned about appearances, this may not be the choice for you. The accommodations are \"well-worn\". We found it quaint and enjoyed being close to all of the beautiful structures. We were only able to eat at one restaurant on property- Shields Tavern- during our stay, but it was lovely and would highly recommend.

Loved the location , but there’s a list of bad things. 1. No switch to turn on and off the bathroom lights.
2. Bathroom was very cold.
3. Black mold at bottom of tiles.
4. Dark baseboard was dirty on top.
5. Carpet was gross.
6. When the light came across the wall mirror, you could see the coating of dust.

Adorable colonial house near town!

We stayed in the Ewing House at the Williamsburg Inn! It was an adorable 1-bedroom house, walking distance to all the major sites in Williamsburg, one block off DoG street. The staff also lit the fireplace in our room which was extra cozy, since it was chilly out!

Multiple colonial houses line the Duke of Gloucester street in Colonial Williamsburg…they are perfect for location…yet true to “colonial” in that design of house limits full size showers and smaller rooms overall…at least at the Brick House Tavern house which has 18 total rooms. Still a memorable trip!

Except for an issue with the heat, all was welcoming and comfortable. The food was great. The only issue that I consider major is the price difference between the Colonial Williamsburg Hotel and Hotel.com. I was required to pay an additional amount of $74.95 more than Hotels.com quoted. I feel this amount should be refunded to insure Hotels.com remains a go to travel site in the future.

Staying in the tavern rooms is on its surface a neat experience. You are right in the middle of Colonial Williamsburg and the setting is remarkable. But the rooms are quite tiered, while normally quiet you can hear everyone else going in and out of their rooms, and the lack of amenities in the building is not up to the price. For the money, I'd stay at one of their other facilities next time.

Basically you’re paying a lot for being in the middle of the historic district. It reality felt like a dated Motel 6 once you get inside.

We had a problem with our first room and I was surprised we were given a significantly smaller room. (It was a busy weekend so availability might have been an issue.)
The concierge was very helpful but they closed at 5:00. Really, at a 5 star facility, that’s ridiculous.

Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place. There might be other rooms in the historic that are nice, but I wouldn’t roll the dice and go back.

This place was amazing! To be able to walk around the village at night you feel like you belong there. The building was an original in the room was where Margaret Thatcher had stayed at one time! I cant believe that it was so affordable. This was honestly the best experience I've had on a historically-themed trip!

A frequent visitor to the Brick House Tavern, a Colonial Houses property, I particulary enjoy the lovely decor ) even if a bit dated) reminding me of staying in my mother's homes on Beacon Hill in Boston and York Harbor, Maine. Conveniently located, walking anywhere in Colonial Williamsburg is a breeze. The staff here and at the Williamsburg Inn provide exemplary service. I'll definitely return!

Please be aware that there is an additional $30 per day resort fee whether or not you use the resort facilities. The check in location is not co-located with the room. The facility has steep steps that would be difficult for elderly or handicapped to access.

The colonial houses are lovely!! The check-in location (the Williamsburg Inn) is amazing. The houses are nice, but their best quality by far is the location and history. If I stayed in the same room somewhere else, I wouldn’t have been nearly as impressed. Continental breakfast would have been nice and the walls are very thin. I wasn’t too bothered by either because it was such a cool place to stay
