It's a lovely property. Quiet and clean. Friendly Staff. There is a small gym and 2 small pools.Around the hotel within 3 mins walk you will have the small day market area that sell local delights. Another 10 minutes walk, an up-scale supermarket called Rimping. To walk to old city square it takes about 35 mins. Alternatively, take Grab. It's easy and very affordable.

Property is walking distance to fresh food market, Sunday night market, good eating options and coffee bars and cafes. Easy walk to get fresh fruit and snacks. Breakfast buffet has plenty of cooked options and fresh fruit/bread options. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Property is an oasis off a busy road- once you walk in it’s like being in a different world. Double room suited our family of four, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room and balcony. Two pools were very pleasant although we only swam one day out of five. Restaurant for evening meals is veg/ vegan and very yummy food. 10 min grab ride into old town if you want more markets and busy tourist area. Perfect combination of accessible to everything but restful and relaxing when back at resort. The property has good mozzie screens but take mozzie spray- but this is true of anywhere you travel in Thailand

Our family stayed here while visiting Chiang Mai. We had a room right off of the pool that my kids loved swimming in. The hotel is located a little ways away from shopping and activities but if you don’t mind walking, taking a tuk tuk or a grab, then it’s a great place to stay with a family!

I highly recommend Shewe Wana hotel. This is an oasis in the heart of Chiang Mai. The greenery and little pathways and pools are beautiful and serene. The rooms were large with good wifi, air conditioning, beds and a private balcony with furniture.

The hotel staff - front desk, the breakfast staff, the manager, security , housekeepers and gardeners are all really friendly and helpful really made the stay even more wonderful. We absolutely loved our stay!

What a trip! We were a family of 4 being in Chiangmai for the first time. Everything was simply wonderful and I would like to give a special shout out to Jaybie, Kate, and Alax for not just proving great service but you made our trip memorable. The hotel room was neat and clean and we had everything we needed. Even though there are many other hotel choices in the city but we would definately come back and stay with you in the future. We had a great 6 night stay. Reception staff were super helpful with organising trips, booking taxis and answering any of our questions.
One of our party has a gluten free diet and this was easily accommodated at breakfast.
Rooms are spacious and well maintained and we will definitely stay again when we return to Chiangmai.

The location was great... very close to the market with lots of food options. Breakfast was good too. We had a two bedroom suite, which was very spacious and nicely laid out. The only issue were the mosquitos... there was a plugin mosquito machine for each room, which was good... however, mosquito netting hung over the beds at night would have also been helpful. That said, I would stay here again. It was quiet, clean, and a great location.

Lovely hotel set out to provide guests with peaceful oasis in the city. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was huge - with a large lounge as well as a spacious balcony overlooking the pool.
The bed was rather hard and the pool was cold. The food was very good and the staff make every effort to make guests feel welcome.

When our taxi pulled up at 10pm we were worried. But everything from there on was excellent! The pineapple coconut French toast breakfast was one of my all time favorite breakfasts EVER. The room elicited “wow”’s from the whole family. The staff could not have been more accommodating and wonderful - really fantastic customer service from checkin to tourist recommendations to packing lunches for one of our early morning departures to helping us try to contact the airline to locate a lost item. Every time we returned to the resort we were whisked back into comfort and Thai accommodation. So happy with this booking!

Good : wonderful service of all the staff, big room with big balcony, good value, very nice landscaping, good spa, shuttle to old town and night markets
To improve : cold white lights in the room destroy the otherwise nice room, curtains are flimsy, view around hotel is poor especially from the third floor with commanding view of the surroundings (and a waste of the large balcony)

Escape from the busy streets on Chiang Mai

We absolutely loved this hotel!! From the street, this hotel does not look especially nice but once you go inside the property it is beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and very private. The hotel staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They helped us set up all of excursions and answered all of our questions. The free breakfast is also excellent!

After a slightly uncomfortable boutique hotel experience the previous week, I almost cancelled this reservation. But I'm so glad I didn't! The rooms are nice and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. Pools are not heated so are a bit cold but this shouldn't matter most of the year. Extensive breakfast menu. The staff made this 3.5 star hotel a 5 star experience! They were accommodating when we needed to take breakfast with us for our elephant adventure and when we had to check out super early to catch our flight. They helped hail tuk tuks and provide directions. They played with our kids and were all so sweet. Tuk tuk drivers generally know where this hotel is located (pronounced shee-wee wah-na). Overall this was a great experience; I highly recommend! The only downside were the mosquitos but, with bug spray and bug zappers in the room, we didn't have too much problem.

I enjoyed my six-night stay here. The staff were truly lovely, the included breakfasts were enjoyable -- a good selection of choices served quickly. A little oasis in the middle of a busy city. I had a one-bedroom suite with jetted tub -- the suite was large, immaculately clean and comfortable for my 6-night stay. I definitely recommend this place, but be aware that it is not inside the old city, though it's only about a 5-minute drive or 10-minute walk. They provide free tuktuk service to the night market.

Well located in lovely position on the river.Complimentary river boat takes you to main river taxi/ferry terminal and sky train stop so 2 of the best ways to get around the city are close at hand . Couldn't fault hotel in any way..staff helpful..breakfast great. Lovely pool. Every touch in room you could think of. Perhaps rooms could do with a coat of paint and an update but overall fab and good value for money.

Fabulous family suite room for the 4 of us!

We were travelling with our adult daughters to Chiang Mai and this hotel was wonderful for us. The suite room was very spacious and had a relaxed, elegant feeling. The staff of young ladies was outstanding- so friendly and helpful making us feel totally at home. Nice swimming pool although the way it is located there is minimal sunshine and the water was cold. It is a garden in the midst of a rather ugly neighborhood. Not real close to the action of town and the night market but walkable and a short tuktuk ride away.

Though the location is a bit away from the night market, the staff made all the difference in our stay. Their friendliness and attentiveness to details were remarkably amazing. I would NEVER stay at this one again

I was very pleased at first glance to check into this lovely boutique hotel. From staff greeting me and making me feel welcome in the beautiful lobby, to a very nice lunch in the coffee shop I was truly happy to be here. The suite from their website boasted a working kitchen. The suite I had was lacking a microwave and or any plates, silverware anything to cook on so other than keeping water cold the kitchen was useless. Throughout my stay I required reservations confirmed and other reservations made and the front desk staff were very capable of meeting my expectations. The problem I had besides the lack of a working kitchen as described on their website was an issue with one of the room service servers. He was less than honest when collecting payment from me for a dinner order. When I, exhausted from a long day of activities, had to walk back down to the lobby to try and explain that there was a problem my integrity was questioned. It took many attempts for the issue to be addressed and when I finally was able to go back to my room, the soup that I had ordered as well as the main course were ice cold...and ruined. This whole thing left me sour. There are so many beautiful places to stay in Chiang Mai, I would never stay at this one again.

Great Romantic Getaway!

From the street, it doesn't look like much, but once inside, it is perfect! The staff overwhelmed by treating us with incredible kindness and professionalism. Our suite was GREAT with comfy couch, great balcony, separate bedroom, awesome furniture, and a relaxing jet tub separate from the nice shower. The front desk staff knew English so well...the best we have heard in Thailand. My wife and I have lived in Asia for 18 years and love to get away just the two of us, and this place was the best! We now want to go back to Chiang Mai just to stay at Shewe Wana again!

Beautiful, peaceful setting, close to city center

The natural beauty of the plants, aroma of the flowers and spacious suites are amazing! Every single staff member we met was friendly and helpful. The resort is about a 10 minute walk from the old city center, so out of the chaos a bit, but close enough to get there easily.

Beautiful grounds and excellent service

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at Shewe Wana. We stayed during New Year's 2014 and found the service to be top notch. We were in a suite which had enough space for more than just us two, but was well worth the money, privacy, and amenities offered. We had the opportunity to see the other rooms offered on the other side of the boutique and they were just that....a room with little amenities. Just pay up for a better experience. The food offered was better than most restaurants that we ate at and the location to the square in Chiang Mai was out far enough to be quiet, but within walking distance or a short tuk tuk ride.

Away from main area of Chiang Mai. No shopping area nearby. Night markets about 5 minutes by car.
Staff were great very friendly and helpful.
We had 2 bedroom suit. Rooms were done in Thai dark wood. We were on third floor and our room looked out over pool but also rooftops of old buildings.
The beds were very hard but they did put something under sheets to try to soften beds, The furniture was very hard to sit on and not comfortable at all.
Garden areas very tranquil.

A lovely friendly Oasis

This is a wonderful oasis in town,so beautiful. The staff are wonderful, welcoming and friendly. They love families and children. They were all so kind and caring. The owner is a lovely person, who takes great pride in this lovely place. Our suite was lovely. Breakfast for Kings and Queens. Great value food, and yummy. Had my favourite Pad Thai, and it was yum. We all had a wonderful stay there and would highly recommend it. We hope to go back ourselves. They also provide a bus/tuk tuk to take you to the markets which are wonderful. There are some great local markets close by too. Their soaps and shampoos are lovely too, and you can buy them. Again we highly recommend staying in this lovely little oasis. Thank you :D

Not a new hotel but really well maintained. The staff are delightful and very helpful. Breakfasts are good. Very comfortable and has a certain charm. Shame about the matresses.....hardest we've ever experienced. Slightly spoilt what was otherwise a very comfortable stay.
Location a bit far from old centre of town but plenty of transport.Would definately consider staying again.

We stayed here as a family of 5 and the hotel was a beautiful oasis in an industrial rather ugly area of Chiang Mai. The breakfast was delicious and the gardens gorgeous, but its' location is less than ideal as it's not very close to the center of Chiang Mai and the area all around the hotel is industrial - an area mainly for buying automobile supplies. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the service is excellent, the rooms spacious and tastefully appointed in Thai style.

The nicest hotel staff I've ever experienced

I can't say enough about the staff at the Shewe Wana. I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels so I'm used to good staff. Shewe Wana leaves all of them in the dust. First, the hotel is gorgeous. It makes you feel like you're transported elsewhere though you're on a busy road. I liked walking in the doors and feeling like i was on a tropical island somewhere. It's a short walk to town or there are hotel tuk tuks. We were there over NYE so I appreciated that we weren't in town itself. The experience really was made one of a kind by the care that Joy and her staff provided. They were so attentive; checking on us everyday to make sure we were enjoying our stay, providing treats at breakfast and dinner if we remarked on a preference for something. One morning our tour came an hour early while we were eating breakfast and Joy immediately took care of everything, packing to go boxes so we could still eat. The same thing for my friend who had to leave early before breakfast opened; even without us asking, she arranged for a to go bag. I felt more like I was visiting a family member than staying at a business and really I now can't imagine staying elsewhere in Chiangmai.

From the moment we were collected from the airport the service and staff have been amazing. This is truely a paradise in the in the busy city of Chiang Mai. We orginally booked for 3 nights and enjoyed it so much that we extended for 3 more nights. The food is first class, with plenty of choices both western and Thai. We have been treated like we were the one hotel guests, and the Management and staff made our Anniversity a very special night to remember. We will be returning to the hotel agaiin and I would highly recommend it. Do yourself a favour and book, you will not regret it.

Shewe Wana in Chiang Mai

Overall our stay at Shewe Wana was excellent. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. We met the owner while we were there and she seemed very interested in how our stay was going.

The breakfast buffet was great and the restaurant meals were always reasonably priced and delicious. We did use the spa services and found the thai massage therapist to be wonderful (strong!). When my friend fell ill on the trip the hotel even drove us to the Chiang Mai hospital and waited while my friend was treated - we found this very impressive. The hotel is clean and had just about everything you could need. The location was only OK, it was within walking distance to the activities downtown but its not an easy walk as the sidewalks are in bad shape and traffic is very bad on that main road. You are better off catching a tuk tuk - the price is very reasonable.

One of the few things we didnt care for was that the street was literally filled with auto shops - it would have been nice to be near additional restaurants, shops and other amenities. However the hotel did have a coffee shop attached which was very convenient. And when you are in the hotel (which has lovely gardens) you dont see the street (although you can hear the traffic).

This was our first visit so we didnt know what to expect and didnt have much to compare to, but we were satisfied with the choice and would recommend it.

직원은 친절했고요, 청소도 만족했어요. 입구에서 숙소까지 멀고, 수영장도 특정 건물 앞에 있어 이용하기 불편해요.. 조식도 별로고요, 산뻐까이 시장이 바로 옆에 있어서 빵(건포도, 코코넛, 파인애플), 과일(망고, 파파야, 메론, 구아바), 구운바나나, 튀긴바나나를 사서 조식으로 먹을 수 있어 좋았네요. Mini Big C마켓도 바로 옆에 있어요.

Best stay!

We are a family of four, that stayed at the Shewe Wana for five nights in late February / start March 2025.

From the very beginning we were met by the sweetest staff. Whether it was in the reception, in the restaurant, by the pool or in the breakfast cafe, everyone was so sweet and helpful.

The room we stayed in, was clean, large and very comfortable.
Everything was so great, but the best thing was really the food. The breakfast was really really good, but the food from the restaurant was, by far, the best Thai food we had during our three weeks trip around Cambodia and Thailand. So delicious and at very good prices.

We can only recommend The Shewe, if you are travelling to Chiang Mai…… And try their Banana Smoothie, it’s a winner.
