Lady in reception was lovely and as it was a quiet time of the month she kindly gave me an upgrade. The room was spacious and warm. Nice little bar and a great space for dining and breakfast.
I dined in at the hotel and the guiness pie and mash was great, although could've done with a small amount of veg.

Rooms are clean and spacious but duvets definitely need renewing as very thin and not big enough for the beds.

Breakfast was good, The staff were all very polite and friendly. The room was adequate. My main issues were with attention to detail, the stairway and carpets were dusty, the room carpet and blankets were stained. The lift was shabby.

However parking was an issue, and there were late night functions on both nights of our stay. Our room was above the function area, so the feeling was more like staying in a room above a pub. Because of the functions there was no restful area for residents.

Lovely hotel - great customer service
Overall we had a lovely stay at Riverside House Hotel. The bar, restaurant and communal areas are well decorated and have comfy seating.
We stayed in Room 12 which is a very large room with fabulous high ceilings, big bathroom with shower (and thick fluffy towels) and a garden view.
Whilst lovely the room could do with a bit of attention - the aircon wasn’t great, the curtains need some rehanging, the windows pull cords were broken so had to be wedged open and the carpet and furnishings were a little tired (lots of the edgings have fallen off).
It was clean (apart from the sock between the bedside table and window!!)
The outside space was lovely with plenty of well spaced tables (few more parasols might be good)
Special mention to Roxy who was wonderful - with good energy and great customer service. She addressed a check in issue professionally and her customer service at the bar and in the restaurant was fabulous. Thanks also to Chef for accommodating my last minute change of mind.

This is our third stay in this amazing hotel and its worth every penny. The staff are amazing and so helpful, the rooms are fabulous and breakfast is the best ever. We cant wait to visit again next year.

The staff were very friendly & helpful and the evening menu & food was good. The Honeymoon suite was was a good size room with a nice bathroom & good shower, which is rare these days. The carpet however was a little grubby. You can hear the bar music below the room until late.

Had the Hotel contacted me when I booked a room and told me there would be loud music playing until gone midnight, which was then replaced by the banging of the lift, I certainly would not have booked, The hotel is Eco Friendly due to the lack of working light bulbs,The furniture had more chips than McDonaldsThe room was supposedly the \"Honeymoon suite\" but I'm guessing the divorce rate locally had gone up after spending the night in this grubby, tatty overpriced room When I booked out the very non-professional staff member sat un his overcoat and scarf, didn't enquire how my stay was, only good point, the breakfast was good quality

No welcome on arrival. There was very short notice of a Christmas party so the night was very loud up until 12.30am. No acknowledgment on departure. The room was full of cobwebs on the ceiling and the breakfast room was very cold. The bed and pillows were also not that comfy. Overall the hotel was very tired.

Fairly basic but ok for a night
Fairly basic accomodation and quite tired in places. We were in the honeymoon suite as we assumed that would be in a nice quiet area of the hotel but in fact it was between the lift and the main stairs so probably the noisiest location! Take earplugs.

The hotel was disappointing - no-one at reception (automated check in) and the breakfast was satisfactory but not great and failed the sausage test. The bedroom design was odd and the bedside tables were unfinished (can't upload photo). I don't think the property justifies a 4-star rating.

A staff member was nearby the desk, but never welcomed us or made eye contact as we entered the lobby, or asked if we needed assistance with anything. From the moment we walked in, the friendly staff greeted us and treated us like one of the family. It's a beautiful hotel which was originally a school many years ago with beautiful appointed gardens and the river which is directly behind the gardens. Honeymoon suite, honest review.
The honeymoon suite was mostly clean. Glass shelves either side of bed were very dusty. Huge hanging cobweb in bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The shower was clean and hot. Unfortunately a huge leak from

The carpet was stained / damaged and really should be replaced it looks awful and not expected in a room of this price. The bathroom needs attention to the flooring and decoration. You can tell in it’s day the room was beautiful but it needs some love now. Towels smelt funny but were perfectly clean although dreadfully thin. Overall we enjoyed our night very much but both felt the room should be bought up to standard. Staff were lovely , friendly and polite. Would definitely return , would be thoroughly impressed to see the mentioned improvements. The view of the garden was appreciated and being so close to the river must be lovely in better weather. We didn’t use the restaurant so cannot review.

One night break away in Bury St. Edmunds.
Staff were really good and hard working, the breakfast was very nice and had a good choice. However, the room considering it was described as a Superior Double room was rather shabby as the edging to the bedside tables and main desk / drawer unit in the room had completely peeled off leaving raw chipboard and could have looked a lot better. Bedroom windows were very large sash windows and the windows could not open due to the sash ropes being non existent which lead to the room being rather humid and stuffy. Had to use the waste bin to keep the window open for a while for some fresh air. Room with a Garden View. the view to the garden was very restricted by roofs.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The waitress at breakfast was very nice and the breakfast itself was lovely. The bed was very comfortable, nice pillows. The cleanliness of the whole place was excellent. Would definitely stay again if in that area.

Booked this hotel because it was close to relatives we were visiting. Didn’t get a garden view room as stated during booking process. We had a room over looking the car park at the front of the hotel. The room was dated and very basic. We asked to move rooms but the hotel was fully booked. The cooked breakfast was hot and plenty of it but was too greasy for our liking, I had to dab the eggs with my serviette to try to soak some of it up. On a plus side the staff were lovely and very friendly.
