Super cosy traditional colonial hotel. People did everything to accommodate us in every way. Spa was great as was breakfast. We booked tours via hotel and he was fantastic, a college graduate who also was a monk for four years. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We learned all from history over nature and Buddhism to culture.

We enjoyed our overnight stay here. Our room was very grand and spacious with complementary snacks and drinks. The balcony was lovely and overlooked the pool area. Lighting in the bathroom area could be improved. Breakfast was very nice and staff friendly.

Our room was very spacious and clean. The staff were all excellent and accommodating.

It’s very quiet and peaceful for relaxing.

Beautiful boutique hotel, attention to detail.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, personable, charming, friendly and helpful staff with well appointed rooms, if a bit small, and interesting features. Rooms have ceiling fans and four poster beds.

Breakfast is fresh and delicious. Staff go out of their way to accommodate you. One morning I enquired about avocado which was not available on the buffet. It was explained that it's out of season and hard to find however, the next morning I was presented with a beautifully plated avo. Staff had gone out to source some on their way home. There are many little touches like this.

The colonial style building is a cool refuge against the heat. Extra features include an old style, pedal bike tuk tuk. They were kind enough to give us a test drive. And a vintage Mercedes, a treat for car lovers.

Location wise, it is outside of the old town but easy enough to get to everything. Lots of lovely little restaurants within easy access too.
The library and bar area is stunning. Cocktails were well made with care and delicious. A seat next to the pool is peaceful and relaxing.
Watch out for the mozzies though, unavoidable in the climate so wear protection.
The swimming pool does not really get sun except in the morning but I feel this is a design element to keep things cool.

Would happily recommend this hotel for a peaceful, relaxing stay if you want to be away from crowds. The attention to detail is also appreciated.
A little on the pricey side though depending on when you book.

This is a lovely boutique spa property..i picked this not for spa but it was within walking distance to a close friend's home ..it was a wonderful choice..rooms are very comfortable, lots of complimentary snacks in room, room size is very comfortable..it is not your typical hotel style type rooms..staff here are attentive and kind and will out of their way to make your stay memorable.

A beautiful and charming boutique hotel. The service is outstanding and complimentary breakfast. Downside is that dinner has to be reserved the day before. However the food is vast and delicious. We had the best massage at the son. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I would like the bathroom to be upgraded though. The pool is refreshing but not kids friendly as it is deep.

What a beautiful hotel! So peaceful but still only 19 minutes walk from all the night markets. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We booked the Royale Eurydice room and itt is definately worth it. Only thing that we found strange is that there is no room service for alcoholic drinks. We called the bar to order a bottle of sparkling to drink on the nice balcony but were told that alcohol could not be served in bedroom (as per the hotel policy). This was a bit disappointing especially when you have such a wonderful balcony. Apart from that we will definately return to this hotel.

Everything about the hotel was great !!!! Rooms were amazing .. old world charm with huge balcony . Front desk people were super helpful. Breakfast was very nice served hot when ordered. Freshest fruits I ever tasted.. spa was very good we were a little short on time so we just did 1 hour session but it was amazing super clean. Wish we had more time in chiang Mai !!

We booked a cab from hotel to chiang Mai and it was super comfortable and cheaper than the tours available in viator. Mr noon with the tours is very knowledgeable and helpful.

This is a very beautiful colonial style hotel. Our stay was wonderful from start to finish. The staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and in a delightful outdoor setting by the lovely pool. They also had a garden cafe a 5 minute walk from the hotel on the river. We ate a late lunch there several times - their Thai ice teas were super. We would definitely stay there again.

We feel that this boutique hotel is ideal for couples, whilst it is situated in relatively quiet area it is a short walk to a river cruise as well as a really large night market with over a hundred food and clothing stalls.
There are ample restaurants within an easy walk, it's only 15 minutes from the airport by taxi and 5 minutes from the old city by tuk tuk.
The staff here are amazing, they are warm and friendly and really go out of there way to care for their guest's.
The hotel has that old colonial feel, it has a lovely pool and serves a very good breakfast.
Mr Noom works the tour desk and can not only take you on a tour, he can advise you on a tour that suits your tastes.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would gladly stay here again.
We even got taken for drive in the 1966 Mercedes.

A wonderful boutique hotel in colonial planter style. Located very conveniently to some larger hotels and independent restaurants, but the highlights are within the hotel: the pool, library-bar, breakfast terrace, delightful spa, and the rooms themselves.
The hotel car is a beautifully maintained Mercedes 220 and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful experience.

The hotel is fairly new, but was built in the colonial style, giving it a unique character. The staff is well trained and attentive, and the Thai massage is the best I had anywhere in Thailand. The area is quiet, and the greenery around the pool/dining area makes it feel like a little oasis. I highly recommend this place !

A beautiful old colonial hotel in impeccable condition, room spacious with late en suite bathroom, free mini-bar, excellent staff and delicious included breakfast with both Thai and American options both from a menu and buffet. There is also a free car service for the area. They took us to pick up our train tickets the day before. The service is impeccable!
There is an infinitely pool and a cozy library with many art and travel books and we had a well-made cocktail during their 2-for1 Happy Hour!
We highly recommend this hotel!

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed at!

My husband and I stayed here during our trip to Chiang Mai and it exceeded our expectations. The hotel staff is SO friendly and accommodating, the views are beautiful, the rooms are cozy and spacious and the free breakfast is delicious (as is their room service menu). The property feels dripping in history and warmth. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful as well as spacious. There is a fabulous French restaurant with afternoon tea attached to the back that looks out on the river. It's hard to leave, but the tour company Lanna boutique is also in the lobbey and Mr. Noom is engaging and personalizes everything. The hotel's location is near the river and the night market, easy 5 minute walk. Breakfast by the pool delicious and relaxing.

An elegant boutique hotel

It is an elegant place - very well kept. A great reading room. Great food. Very polite staff. In fact this is what made up for our wrong choice of location. We made some last minute bookings as my husband had forgotten about having taken leave during these days! So we did not research well and realized this is not a scenic town. The hotel is close to night market, but having been to BKK a number of times, and many other places in Thailand including Phuket, Koh samui, Hua hin, we took for granted that it would be scenic. Please do not expect that. There are other properties close to Chiangmai, that are in the mountains I believe. But this property itself has an old world charm, well trained staff and great food.
Two things that went wrong - The internet connection kept dropping and they could not fix it despite numerous calls. And we could not get a late checkout despite it being promised on hotels.com booking - but that was because they were expecting guests that evening and wanted to clean the room. We still sat in the library until we had to leave for the airport. Overall a nice, relaxing vacation.

Colonial style charm. Cosy and restful. Quiet and unrushed. Small number of rooms (19 rooms) is good. Exclusive and safe.

Some part of wooden flooring uneven/warped. Still ok but bit creaky. Corner of a bathroom tile is chipped. All said, these add to the lives in charm. Not really a complaint.

On the whole, it is a very comfortable and luxurious home away from home.

The worst complaint was the fact the room was crawling with mosquitos even though we kept the balcony door closed and the windows when we were inside. They kept us awake all night with buzzing and bites. Woke up several times due to the itchiness and bites throughout the night on the face. This may be due to lack of repellent in the rooms, the corridors are open so insects are free to roam and enter when you open the doors for room service etc.
I feel like this didn’t meet the standards of a 5-star hotel in almost all aspects except the complimentary snacks. The location was not convenient to the old city centre of chiang mai.
The bonus was that they made ham and cheese sandwiches and prepared fruit for early bfast when we had to leave early on tours.
There were complaints that the security guards at our hotel only let taxis and tuk tuks into the car park that paid a 50 baht fee and made Grab vehicles that we used, wait outside on the main road.

A five night stay at a wonderful hotel probably the best and most memorable of the five hotels we stayed in during our three week trip.The rooms are fantastic so peaceful. The happy hour was good between 5pm / 7pm.
Breakfasts overlooking the pool were great not massive choice but freshly prepared.
Easy to get to the old town by Tuk Tuk 100 Baht, the night market is just a five minute walk away plenty of food choices live music and clothes ,souvenirs on offer.
A meal at the Riverside bar and grill was good and again just a short Tuk Tuk ride away.
Overall a wonderful stay at a charming colonial style property.

Perfect hotel to relax in Chiang Mai

Ping Nakara was the best place to stay. The staff was very accommodating. The pool was pristine and relaxing with very few guests. We played chess by the pool every afternoon. They supplied plenty of complimentary waters, sodas, and snacks each day. The breakfast was a mix of western and Thai options with plenty of choices for our five day stay. The spa was wonderful and clean. The location was walkable to the old city, but could be too far for some. Taxi’s were plentiful, however. Most excursions supply hotel pick up so it doesn’t matter where in the city you stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Ping Nakara is a pleasant hotel. It does try but doesnt quite get there for 5 stars. The location is excellent, most of the staff are very helpful although hard to find, as a Australian I'd have to say the staff's English is pretty good. The breakfast service wasn't generous to a western traveller, often my wife and I found ourselves hungry again by mid morning and the bathroom was mouldy in places around the shower and tub. 4 out of 5 and one of those stars is due to the very kind and helpful staff at the hotel gate who simply cannot do enough to assist, a pity a little more of that service ethos hasn't rubbed off on the house staff. If it does it will be a terrific hotel but for now it's a good one.
