Quiet and Beautiful

The hotel was difficult to find the first time, but there was no need to drive anywhere because we were able to walk to every place to visit! Take the train to Brocken! Walk to the old town and castle!

Lovely little hotel on the edge of the town

It was a nice hotel. Very quiet location and a bit fiddly to get to in a car - there's no other way unless you've cycled or walked. It does what a hotel should do. And the breakfast was OK.

Quiet Hotel in The Harz Mountains

A comfortable room - had a suite (401) which was spacious with a balcony. The hotel is geared to German visitors - not a bad thing - as we hardly heard an English voice all week! Some staff did speak English which was very helpful.

Wernigerode an enchanting town

Beautiful town in the Hertz region of Germany. Comfortable Hotel but lack of English brochures to enable you to determine the best things to visit during a short stay.
Room comfortable with view of ski slopes and Forest are. Pillows too soft and only one given.

Lovely Hotel

Peaceful setting, which was worth the 15 minute walk up a steep hill - kept us fit. Staff very friendly and pleasant. Very little English spoke, although there was a waitress called Lisa, who's English was excellent (our German was non-existent !!) and she was very helpful. Fabulous breakfast - better than the one we got in a four star hotel in Delft!. Would recommend booking a balcony room with view of the castle as it was lovely to look out on this view.

the hotel offers all the amenities that a north american traveller expects. We stayed for 5 nights to be able to travel harz area so we used the hotel facilities only in the evening. We may have been in somewhat of an off season. It was quiet, buffet breakfast was diverse and plentiful. Be aware that the Schanzenhaus is outside the town on the Hill. Parking at the hotel was good but in town somewhat bothersome, so every day it meant a hike up and down the mountain. Good for conditioning. The hotel is flanked by three artificial turf ski jump Schanzen which were under repair when we stayed there.

Good base to view fanastic town of Wernigerode

Nice view of castle with balcony but room itself reminded me of school trips to Germany . tiny with 2 single beds at an angle to each other. I think our room was smaller than most. It was lovely and peaceful, reception staff helpful and free wifi worked very well. A bit of a walk into town or drive in.

Nice hotel; good price

Nice hotel; simple, with all needed amenities, but don't expect anything luxurious.
Room was clean, staff was friendly and did their best trying to speak English. The breakfast was absolutely great!!!!
Only 10 minutes to the historical town....about 15 minute walk to castle.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

On hillside looking towards castle. Rooms small but very good. Clean rooms. Only downside is nothing is translated into english (menus etc only in german). Lovely walks in hills direct from hotel. Taxi from station only €9. Excellent free buses all over area. Would stay again.

Well presented hotel with good reasonably priced restaurant and excellent breakfast. Plenty of parking and good wifi. Our room had a pleasant view but some did not. Twenty minute walk down to picturesque town but longer walking back! Finding the hotel without satnav would not be easy because of one-way system along narrow streets of town.

Nice Place Not Only For Wintersports.

Very kind staff. I was kind of late and they waited for me. I enjoyed the free WiFi (not the fastest one, but works for me). The breakfast buffet is very good with a large variety of cold cuts and hot stuff. Parking is no problem. Will come back. A great value for the money. They have special rooms for handicaped persons (Mine was one of these).

Enjoyed the stay.

Not a bad hotel at all. Had a kettle which was a bonus too. Staff very pleasent and helpful. Its at the end of a high road and was tough walking up although the town is only 2km away. Kinda cheap too which was good. Sad to see that the wellness massage was not on site and had to be booked.

Kuddarna var mycket dåliga,sängen var bra.
Man fick begära städning dock byttes bara handskarna men inte badlakan. Bodde på andra våningen där våningen under har terass och de boende rökte som steg uppåt mot vårt fönster.
Reagerade över att personalen inte talade engelska då hotellets hemsida nämner tvåspråkig petsonal (tyska,engelska).
Hemsodan nämner även restaurang den existerar inte.

Kedeligt hotel i stille omgivelser.

Kedeligt hotel. I beskrivelsen står der restaurant der serverer aftensmad, hvilket ikke passer. De låser af så man ikke kan sidde på balkonen. Vi havde håber at man kunne sidde og få lidt at drikke, men fællesområdet er en bænk på parkeringspladsen. Uforståeligt og sølle.
Personen på arbejde gad ikke hilse igen da vi kom hjem om aftenen. Lidt venlighed er gratis.
Morgenmaden var god.

Et hotel der opfyldte alle behov - stille og roligt område, stort udvalg ved morgenbuffeten, hjælpsomt personale. Dog ville en lidt blødere madras og mere fyldig pude være en opgradering - det er jo selvfølgelig smag og behag. Til gengæld gik man i seng og stod op til synet af dåvildt lige udenfor ens terrasse.

Personal freundlich , aber Sauberkeit auf unserem Zimmer enttäuschend . Tische und Nachttische waren noch total verklebt und dreckig. Unterm Bett und in den Ecken war noch alles voll Staub , als hätte man Tage nicht geputzt.Aber sonst eine schöne Umgebung. War nur schade ,dass das Restaurant abends nicht geöffnet hat.

“Die Unterkunft wirkt insgesamt sehr altbacken, und das Zimmer für zwei Personen war leider nicht gut durchdacht. Es fehlte an Platz und die Zimmer waren klein und eng. Zudem war deutlich erkennbar, dass die Zimmer nicht ausreichend entstaubt wurden. Positiv hervorzuheben sind jedoch die schöne Außenanlage und die ruhige Umgebung. Dennoch stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis für uns nicht, da der Komfort im Zimmer erheblich verbessert werden müsste.”

Wir kommen gerne wieder, aber dann nur in enem Zimmer, das nicht nach vorn in Richtung Parkplatz liegt. Es war eine Gruppe von mehreren Gästen da, die es sich immer abends ab 22 Uhr vor dem Hotel gemütlich machten und wohl dachten sie sind allein auf der Welt. Hätten sich mal lieber ein Ferienhaus mieten sollen. Aber für rücksichtslose Gäste kann ja das Hotel nichts

Leider hat der Sercice nachgelassen. Ich kenne es so, das man begrüßt wird, gefragt wird ob man Kaffee oder Tee möchte, nicht fragen muss wo die Milch für den Kaffee steht. Es sind die Kleinigkeiten die verloren gegangen sind. Es muß an der Aufmerksamkeit gearbeitet werden.

Positives: Es ist es sehr sauber, ruhig, das Buffet sehr reichhaltig.

Ein sehr ruhig gelegenes Hotel. Die Altstadt von Wernigerode ist fußläufig in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Mit unserem Zimmer hatten wir richtig Glück. Geräumig, Balkon mit Blick auf Wernigerode. Ein großes Bad mit Fenster und begehbarer Dusche. Es ist etwas hellhörig, wenn andere Gäste der gleichen Etage kommen und gehen, hört man das sehr deutlich. Die Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück sehr lecker. Schön wäre gewesen, wenn man beim neu Eindecken wenigstens das obere Tischtuch gewechselt hätte. Die Kaffee- und Essensflecken der Vorgänger waren nicht so toll.

Das Hotel war etwas weiter von der Altstadt entfernt als ich gedacht habe. Das Personal beim Check-In war etwas \"kalt\" meiner Meinung nach. Unser Zimmer war nicht schlecht aber das Fenster war viel zu klein. Das Kissen war etwas klein und zu weich, deshalb habe ich nicht sehr gut geschlafen, obwohl es sehr ruhig war. Parkplätze gibt es, aber direkt vor dem Hotel waren die Plätze sehr begrenzt. Bergunter gab es mehr Parkplätze aber von dort muss man etwa 50m zu Fuß nach oben gehen. Das Frühstücken war meiner Meinung nach auch etwas peinlich da der Esszimmer klein war, es gab keine Musik und jedes Geräusch ist überall zu hören. Wir konnten nicht Sitzplatz auswählen, sondern werden von einer Mitarbeiterin arrangiert. Das Atmosphäre beim Frühstück war etwas anstrengend.

Ideal und direkt zum Loswandern

Insgesamt war es ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt (5 Nächte). Die Lage am Waldrand mit Blick auf das Schloss ist wunderbar ruhig und ideal, um direkt vom Hotel aus zu Wanderungen aufzubrechen oder innerhalb vom 15 Gehminuten im Stadtzentrum zu sein.
Die Betten sind bequem und nicht zu weich. Uns erwartete morgens ein reichhaltiges und leckeres Frühstück.
Die einzigen Mängel betrafen unser Familienzimmer. An einem Etagenbett im Kinderzimmer war eine Leitersprosse locker, an einem Stuhl am Esstisch fehlte eine Leiste an der Rückenlehne und der Wandheizkörper im Bad bedarf dringend eines neuen Anstrichs, da großflächig der Lack abplatzt und das Teil mit Roststellen übersät ist.
Dafür entschädigte der morgendliche Blick vom Bett auf das direkt angrenzende Wildgehege neben dem Schanzenhang.

Ruhige Lage

Tolle Lage, super ruhig und trotzdem ist die Innenstadt in ca. 15 min. zu Fuss zu erreichen.
Zimmer war gut, dass Doppelbett allerdings sehr schmal.
Enttäuschend war die Frühstücksversorgung - der Raum ist bei voller Belegung definitiv zu knapp ausgelegt und auch das Personal kommt dann nicht mehr hinterher.
Auch schade: kein Restaurant/Bar im Hotel, nur der bereits in anderen Rezensionen beschriebene Kühlschrank, der ausgeschaltet ist...

Sehr schöner Aufenthalt.

Wir waren bereits zum zweiten Mal dort. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön, sauber und ruhig. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön und man hat eventuell sogar Schloßblick.
Das Frühstücksbuffet ist phänomenal, da sollte man auf jeden Fall genügend Zeit einplanen. Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert

An sich ein gutes Hotel. Allerdings ist es schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Einen Täglichen Handtuch wechsel brauch ich nicht aber eine Schuhmatte und vielleicht einmal durchsaugen bei schnee wäre trotzdem schön gewesen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war aehr übersichtlich. Keine unmenge zur auswahl aber im geoßen und ganzen. War für jeden ws dabei.

Skønt hotel

Vi rejste 2 familier sammen med 4 i hver familie. Vi fik begge familieværelser, med dobbeltseng og spisebord + 6 stole i et run og 2 køjesenge i et andet rum. Lyst og dejligt. Udsigt mod skrænten bag hotellet, hvor der gik de sødeste hjorte. Det eneste vi manglede var et køleskab på værelset. Havde 3 overnatninger, morgenmaden var super lækker og varieret, der manglede bestemt ikke noget. Der var ikke restaurant til aftenservering, som vi ellers troede, men det tog ikke lang tid at gå ned i byen og spise eller hente et par pizzaer. Skønt område omkring hotellet til et par gåture fx op til Rapunsels tårn.

Uphill battle

Ok hotel on the outskirts of the town. Steep uphill climb. Free buses to city centre but they stopped running at 6 pm. We tried to get a taxi back to the hotel in the evening but were told there was a two hour wait. By then everything would be closed so we trekked back uphill and fell asleep exhausted on reaching our room.

Das Hotel liegt sehr ruhig und trotzdem zentral, die Stadt erreicht man schnell, wenn man gut zu Fuß ist. Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Ein Kühlschrank wäre ein nettes Extra, muss aber nicht unbedingt sein.. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und auf Sonderwünsche wurde schnell eingegangen. Von der Auswahl beim Frühstücksbüffet waren wir positiv überrascht. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Hallo. 2 Nächte waren wir in diesem Hotel. Das Zimmer war sauber und ordentlich, allerdings war es etwas klein. Der Balkon hat aber alles wieder wett gemacht. Herrliches Wetter und absolute Ruhe, genau wie wir es mögen. Der Fuchs, das Damwild und am späten Abend der Waldkautz leisteten uns bei einem Glas Wein Gesellschaft. Frühstück und das Abendbuffett super! Die ältere Dame am Empfang hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen, mit extra Kissen versorgt und sogar, als schon alle Parkplätze belegt waren, uns den ihren überlassen. Sehr Sehr nett. Gerne wieder.

På toppen af Wernigerode

Hoteller ligger på toppen af en bakke. 10 min. kørsel til byens meget hyggelige centrum. Værelserne er meget meget pæne, i istandsatte og med vinyl på gulvene (i hvertfald på 4. sal, hvor vi havde værelse) morgenmad har ligeså høj standard. Kan varmt anbefales - uden tvivl!.

Schönes Hotel neben den Sprungschanzen

Ein schönes Hotel direkt neben den Ski-Sprungschanzen und Damwild-Gehege. Es gab ein tolles Frühstück mit einem sehr leckeren Rührei. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Leider hielt die Duschabtrennung das Wasser nicht davon ab das Badezimmer zu fluten. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub.

Schönes Hotel in der Nähe der City.

Saubere, große und geschmackvoll eingerichtete Zimmer. Eine schöne Dusche mit Thermostat.

Parkplätze stehen in begrenzter Anzahl direkt vorm Hotel zur Verfügung.

Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und lässt nur wenig Wünsche offen.

Sämtliche Mitarbeiter vom Team waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Direkt am Hotel kann man ein paar Rehe in einem Gehege sehen.

Wunderschön ruhige Lage oberhalb von Wernigerode, kein Straßenverkehr und deshalb sehr ruhig. Unser Doppelzimmer war etwas klein, aber völlig ausreichend. Ein paar Haken für Jacken usw. fehlten uns. Personal und Frühstück sind besonders zu loben, wir kommen gern wieder!

Schönes Hotel in ruhiger Lage

Wir hatten einen recht kurz, aber sehr schönen Aufenthalt im Schanzenhotel. Das Zimmer ist recht groß. Zimmer und Bad sind sehr modern und sehr sauber. Der Hotelservice ist ebenfalls sehr zufriedenstellend. Wir würden das Hotel wieder buchen und empfehlen es jedem Reisenden, welcher in Wernigerrode einen Aufenthalt plant.

Varmt....men det er jo ikke normalt at det er 34 grader varmt, men heldigvis kunne man lave gennemtræk i vores studio værelse så det gik at sove om natten.

Dejligt sted i Harzen, men ingen umiddelbare indkøbsmuligheder ved hotellet. Hotellet er rigtig fint og i god stand, ligesom personalet var venlige og imødekommende. Gratis parkering og rigtig god morgenmadsbuffet. Der sker ikke meget for børn, og det var også primært ældre mennesker, der var indlogerede, men skal man have et sted at sove og spise, hvorfra man kan køre ud og opleve Harzen, så fungerer det super.
