The hotel is very charming, with a chic, vintage feel. You felt like you were staying in an historic governors home. The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable (bedding was soft, A/C was cold, water was perfect temperature) and the bathrooms were sufficient. The only downside was the thin walls and noise from outside - which included a rooster, loud birds and a dog. Additionally, our room was also on the main floor just next to the dining area and sound travels easily in this area. We had friends that stayed on higher floors and did not seem to have the same issue. Other positives include the staff at SSIP were amazing. Friendly, helpful and willing to help with anything! The breakfast provided each morning home-made, authentic Thai, delicious and well more than we could each eat in each sitting.

Bangkok is very busy yet this area seemed to be a bit quieter in terms of traffic, etc but was easily walkable to the ferry boat. Our only complaint was the noise, which included a rooster, loud birds and a dog. This made it difficult to sleep past 5am. Additionally, our room was on the main floor just next to the dining area and sound travels easily in this area. We had friends that stayed on higher floors and did not seem to have the same issue. I would recommend bringing a white-noise machine or using a sound app on your phone to assist with sleeping in. Otherwise, we would highly recommend this spot.

It can't be said enough how friendly and helpful the staff are (especially the manager), the only thing that I can give back to them for my magical stay is to rate their unique and fun getaway spot a perfect 5 out of 5. Well done SSIP! It would be a pleasure to spend my time in Thailand under your roof sometime in the near future.

Tired of hotels?
If you are tired of hotels, then this is a great alternative. It is basically a very, clean, glorified guesthouse, so do not expect all the amenities of a 4 star hotel. (i.e. There was no iron on the premises.) However, you can expect a more relaxing, non-sterile atmosphere. The breakfast was good, although it is Thai-style. Two notes of caution: Allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport if you have a morning flight. There is a train crossing that can cause major traffic; it took 45 minutes to go the 3km to the airport train stop. Also, this is not somewhere you want to be if the protests get violent...unless you like a lot of action. But otherwise perfectly fine at any time and a great spot to see many of the key sites.

The hotel has a very nice ambiance with an old house feel to it. This is a good thing because you really feel the warmth and hospitality of the hosts. This is the only hotel that I've stayed where I really felt like home. The breakfast served is authentic Thai cuisine which is very delicious and very filling. The service of the hosts Pat and Cake are top notch. It's really quiet there so you can really enjoy your sleep and privacy. The hotel is quite far from the city center but it is near a river port so you can ride the boat to avoid the city traffic. One thing they need to address is how to easily find the location of the hotel since most taxi drivers don't know (or pretends not to know) the hotel location. One suggestion is to put big signs on major roads pointing to the direction of the hotel and also a big sign at the hotel frontage. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at our hotel and we won't hesitate to stay there again. Kudos to Pat and Cake for a job well done!

Had a nice stay at SSIP on short stop in Bangkok. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The room I stayed in was spacious . Breakfast in the morning was delicious and they kindly accommodated a vegetarian diet. It's easy to get to Grand Palace and major temples by boat and Khao San Road is a 15-20 minute walk. Otherwise a little far from center of town and I had a hard time finding a taxi driver who knew how to get there. The staff is great, friendly and helpful.

We had a great stay at the SSIP boutique hotel. Front desk staff are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They gave us very personal advice on options as tourists and how to get to places. Just as an example: We wanted to got to a nice rooftop bar with a bit of a view, and got a great recommendation, they even made a booking for us. This was not one of the bars in the tourist guides, which apparently are often overpriced and with difficult dress code.
The breakfast at the hotel is Thai and cooked to order (need to chose and indicate time the night before). It was very good every time.
The location is good but not near the metro. So one needs to use tuk tuks or taxis to get to places. Hotel staff were very helpful fetching rides for us and making sure we paid the local fixed price (tuk tuk) or got a metered fare (taxi). These fares are cheap.
We have nothing negative to say at all about the hotel. It was 100% a great experience.

Très bon accueil de l'équipe du SSIP qui est restée disponible sur la toute la durée du séjour. L'hôtel est situé dans un quartier sans gros afflux touristique. La balade pour rejoindre Khao San Road, jalonnée de petits restaurants de rue est sympa sinon l'embarcadère pour prendre le bateau sur le Chao Praya n'est qu'à 500 m. Autre astuce, une allée piétonne à une dizaine de mètres de la rue principale remonte aussi vers Khao San Road en toute tranquilité au milieu des petites échoppes de quartier.
Les chambres sont très propres (ainsi que les parties communes), avec du cachet et fonctionnelles. En revanche ne prenez pas une chambre communiquant avec une autre par une porte commune car dans ce cas l'isolation phonique est quasi inexistante. Comme l'hôtel est a proximité de maisons, le matin vous entendrez le chant du coq ce qui en plein centre de Bangkok change du bruit des voitures. Au global une super expérience avec un excellent rapport qualité prix.

Petit hotel. Grand accueil 'personnalisé'... Une atmosphere particulière, meubles anciens , salle de petits dejeuners comme a la maison... La responsable est très agréable, ainsi que le personnel qui est aux petits soins... Le petit déjeuner est lui vraiment différent... Il est servi à table, il est Thai, (des plats dont on a pas l habitude, très fins) et en quantité. Bref, on y retournera ne serait ce pour le petit dejeuner et l'accueil... Il ne manque que l'ascenceur. Pour les bagages, pas de soucis, il y a un monte charges.
