Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The room was extremely hot and stuffy. While a fan had been provided, there was no air conditioning and the fan did little to improve the lack of ventilation.

The room also did not appear to have been cleaned to a particularly high standard. There was a noticeable line of dust behind the radiator, and I found a small puddle of water on the bathroom floor upon entering the room.

The sound insulation also appeared to be very poor. The walls and ceilings seemed exceptionally thin, and noise from the room above was so loud at times that it genuinely sounded as though the floor was struggling to support the weight.

As a result, I had a very poor night’s sleep. Given the circumstances, I requested a discretionary one-hour late checkout, but this was declined due to what I was told was a high volume of arriving guests the following morning. However, when I left, I noticed the car park was only around half full, which made the refusal difficult to understand.

While the staff were polite, the issues with the room, cleanliness concerns, and the lack of flexibility regarding checkout left me feeling disappointed overall.

I booked a single room with twin bed but upgraded to a double bed and got a better room. The room itself was quite dark, except for first thing in the morning when the sun lit up the room and the bathroom, which was nice. The bedroom had only one central light (quite dark) and one bedside light, with no lighting over by the desk where the kettle/tea/coffee were, which was a little awkward. The bathroom was very nice, light, airy and spacious.

The room itself was up and down a lot of stairs, along winding corridors with creaky floors, but the reason I chose this hotel was because it is hundreds of years old and has character, so I expected that!

I was very disappointed with the internet, for a couple of reasons. One is that this is one of the few hotels I’ve stayed in recently that has open, unsecured internet, which is not good. The other is that it was very frustratingly intermittent and many everyday websites were simply not available, including the hotel’s own website! When I could get on a website or into my e-mails, one time it would be on and the next few minutes it would be off again, then back on, then off, even though it should me as still being connected!. Very frustrating. Perhaps this was because of the location of my room in the hotel and it being so old and having very thick walls?

Anyway, I would recommend the hotel, as long as you know about the quirks.

I liked the free parking and the hotel is located in nice private grounds, which is nice.

We were given a room in the courtyard area no43, It was small for 2 people It smelled musty and damp The wallpaper on the outside wall was blistered.One end of the radiator, the thermostat end, was tied to the wall with a plastic tie wrap.The window was to high to reach to open There is no lift in the main part of the house or the Courtyard rooms.No43 is on the ground floor

We went for the \"privilage\" room, the best option they have cause it came with a walk in shower. That was a must as my partner has an injury. We stayed 2 nights, the room was so basic, very similar to the Premier Inn just slightly bigger.
So bad points, there was a 1 inch gap still there when you close the window, so it was pointless closing it. You could hear the traffic on the motorway and the wind was still blowing through.

As we walked out into a courtyard area, my partner slipped and fell on the floor because it was so slippery. They mopped the outside tiling floor and didn't display wet floor signs.

It looks good from the outside but the inside was very basic and you pay way more than its worth.

Generally the property needs a bit of a renovation in some respects when you look closely, but to be fair for the price paid it was a good deal. One thing though the Jacuzzi connects to the pool so the water temperature is a bit cool and most surprising of all we were unable to get a meal on the Saturday night. The restaurant was full and no bar food was available ' because the the kitchen was busy'.

Room was spotless and appeared to have been recently decorated. Unfortunately there were cracks in the sink and the hotel generally looks a little tired.
The hotel staff were amazing … all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Particularly Aziz at breakfast and the wonderful bartender Mal. He couldn’t do enough for us, moving furniture around and asking us if we wanted any particular music to be played. He really went above and beyond to make my 89 year old mum’s evening.

Very impressed with the hotel. Staff were great as was the breakfast. Had a 2nd floor double room in the courtyard, which was spacious and very quiet which I liked. It was a little cool in the room but had a sufficient wall heater to help with that. Very nice modern bathroom and shower. Very grand building and the spa & pool which looked amazing and very inviting but didn’t have time to use. Family friendly and busy whilst I was there. Would recommend a stay here to my friends

This seemed like a nice hotel with a lot of room choices. It was a bit of a maze.
The staff were very good and helpful.
Some of the food was way over priced. I ordered the butterfly chicken breast, which was £19.95 and all that turned up was a chicken breast, a small portion of warm fries, 1/2 a tomato and 1/2 a charred onion. A bigger bowl of chips on the menu was £5.95, making the chicken, tomato and onion £15! The staff were very good however and understood. They sorted me out a replacement meal. They admitted that they often felt embarrased when they deliver food to customers as they know it's not very good value for money.
I blame the hotel chain for setting the prices and I know there isn't much the staff can do about it. As I say, they were very good with handling and resolving my complaint.

I booked a two night stay to complete some work - I needed good WiFi and quiet. I got it.
The room could've been cleaned better, particularly the bathroom where there were hairs.
The bathroom needed maintenance: water leaked under the shower screen in the walk-in shower, the handles on the bath were wobbly and enamel was missing, there was no cold water (it was like warm, which meant having a drink of cold water wasn't possible in the room).

Same problem as they’ve had for many many years unfortunately. Lack of investment from the parenting company. Vomit stains on the carpet, no heating in single glazed bedrooms. Elevator is out of order. Guests knocking on doors at 1 AM waking people up because they think it’s funny. Not a good experience all the way around. I have a lot of sentimental attachment to the Dunk but I think this may be the last time I ever stay there unfortunately.

We had an excellent stay. All of the staff we spoke to were super friendly and polite. The room was lovely, and the staff had gone to the extra effort to decorate for my partners birthday, which was a really nice surprise for him. We enjoyed using the spa, the bar and the breakfast buffet. It was a perfect base for exploring the local area, and somewhere we could come back and relax in the evenings. All for a very reasonable rate, would stay again.

I had two rooms booked - a twin for one person and a superior double. Both excellent. Gripe for the superior was about a half an hour to run a bath and no Wi-Fi :( possibly due to location at the back of the hotel. We were there for a family 90 th nearby so it was a great opportunity to stay. Accrington was £6 in an uber. Disappointing though to have to pay a tenner if you want to use the pool :( gym free mind.
Overall though a great hotel and thanks for the late bar. Our tariff was RO so didn’t try brekky but a very decent stay in this area. Our room was cool despite hot weather so that was good though the windows did open and not too darn the ground floor to be unsafe so defo a dec place to stay thanks.

We were put in a room where the toilet was nearly impossible to sit on as it was so close to the wall and it had a toilet roll holder poking out, the bathroom lights did not work and there were people walking around upstairs at 2am being very noisy, we had probably the worst view out of our window too. Wouldn’t stay here again in that room, not worth the money we paid at all.

Liked the venue , grounds and location. Also liked the size of the room and having both a bath and a walk in shower. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good with clarly locally sourced ingredients.Unfortunately , there was no air conditioning which would have been welcomed with the weather we have been having. Would also be a good idea to have wash lotion by the bath and shampoo and conditioner - not just stuck on the wall in the shower.

Booked a Superior double room. We stayed overnight for a wedding which was actually at another nearby venue. The room was large and clean. The shower had very inconsistent temperature. Took some time to get hot water and when it did, it fluctuated. Staying only one night didn't warrant asking to be moved as we only discovered the issue as we were getting ready for the wedding. The hotel has a pool, gym and Spa. If you are staying, you must book a package which includes pool use otherwise its a ten pound per adult cost. We only discovered that when we thought we'd have a quick dip before getting ready. I'll take that on the chin, as i must have missed that somewhere when booking. If i had, i would have booked elsewhere. Thats all. We didnt use any other hotel facilities so can't comment on them.

We booked a twin room but given a double and they were unable to move us. Generally the hotel was cold, the room had no functioning heater and we had to get maintenance to close the window. Beautiful hotel with a great history - from the drive up to the hotel you get a good feeling.
Parking was straight forward just remember to put your registration number into machine at reception. Reception staff were amazing - didn't get his name but what a credit to himself and the company - so friendly - polite - helpful and upbeat - great start to the stay.

Through the amazing old house to our room - we even got a complimentary room upgrade (thank you) old sweeping staircases - oak panelling top quality.

Our room was wonderful - great big bed - quality stylish furniture - espresso machine was a nice touch - bathroom top notch - great big shower with rain fall shower head - top quality toiletries.

Back through the hotel to the spa / leisure facility really nice sauna - pool - gym (just a point it can get busy as it as has none hotel members.

Bar area was lovely sat out and enjoyed the sun on the decking then back into the bar to chill.Breakfast was fantastic - self service loads of choice cooked breakfast - cereal - fruit - pastries. Were able to chill in the lounge area with a coffee and just watch the world go by.

Walks around the hotel are nice - with some of the most friendly cows I've every met - coming to the fence and wall for a pet.

Loved the stay and will certainly be back again when we are up in the area.

This isn’t an upgrade regardless of the size of the room being bigger. If they want to charge an extra £50 per night for this room then they should install soft closets to the main front door.

Lovely hotel and a great spacious room. Check in was a bit traumatic as the hotel had taken a payment for one of not our party and not the others and nobody could work out why. Breakfast was a bit disappointing compared to previous experiences. Had to ask for a fried egg which took a long time to come and was over-cooked. No mushrooms. You had to make to make your own tea and coffee, whereas, in the past they brought it to your table.

Lovely hotel, pity we didn't have chance to use the spa. Bed very comfortable, room good size
