A truly exceptional stay in Sanur

Griya Santrian exceeded my expectations in every way.

From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, polished, and consistently professional. The staff struck the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. Every interaction felt genuine and welcoming.

The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The grounds are lush and peaceful, and the beachfront setting is ideal. There is a walking and biking path that runs directly along the beach and connects to the hotel, which makes it incredibly convenient to explore Sanur. You can easily walk or bike to restaurants, cafés, shops, and massage spots right from the property.

The pools are lovely, the beach access is seamless, and the entire atmosphere feels relaxed yet refined.

The room was comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Everything felt cared for and well managed — it’s clear this hotel takes pride in maintaining high standards.

After several weeks traveling through Southeast Asia and staying in a range of hotels, this was easily one of the best experiences of my trip. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali.

We did go to the spa and its a was a lovely peaceful massage space but remember you pay hotel prices so a bit more expensive than the ones in the village. You pay a premium but it was a lovely atmosphere and much nicer than the street shopfront massage places. The rooms are tired but we did notice there is a lot of renovations going on at the hotel so most of the roooms will eventially be much better.

Property with a lot of potential, however half of the resort is under renovation through to end of December 2025, with noisy construction work next to all pools and close to rooms. Breakfast had an ok range of food, but quality was subpar (some of the worst coffee).

Other than that, cannot fault the hotel, service was excellent, the location is very convenient, with direct beach access from the beautiful promenade, and very close to the giant new ICON mall.

I imagine that the newer room types will be worth the stay once construction is complete, but for now I'd avoid staying here until January 2026 unless they significantly drop prices.

As of November 2025, there is quite a bit of building work going on at the hotel, and the noise could be heard from our room. The rooms are adequate but a little tired, with rather small bathrooms. The hotel is located in a part of Sanur that is mostly occupied by other hotels, so it’s a fairly long walk to reach the beach bars and restaurants. The beach in front of the hotel is very shallow and not ideal for swimming. Its not good value for money and twice as expensive as the Holiday Inn which has nicer rooms and does an excellent breakfast.

A Grand old Hotel with a beautiful Garden

After an initial two days of horror with construction outside window was upgraded to a very pleasant room overlooking a quiet pool. The room was good and the man doing the cleaning was excellent. The main pool area could do with some updating and a more active waiter.The beachside restaurant was great but some of the food was hit and miss. The Guest relations person was excellent. It was comparatively expensive and I think there is better value for your buck available in Sanur. The gardens are fabulous and the many gardeners do a great job.

I wanted to sleep with the air conditioner on low or off but when I did that everything in the room became wet with condensation: my clothes, electronics, the floor, the bed sheets became damp. I almost fell out on the wet floor. I turned the air conditioning back on but it didn’t really dry out before I left. The food wasn’t great, but I only tried a few things. The wait staff was not happy to be there. I did have a nice massage and a walk down the boardwalk. The views are really nice. I watched a gorgeous sunrise.,

We arrived at Gryia Santian and were immediately upgraded to a pool side room. This facility is quite modern and all facilities were in excellent condition. The grounds were spectacular. The pools were great and the location is amazing. You can walk to many eating options and the roadway had been quiet. There is a boardwalk in the back of the property that leads you to the Icon mall and various restaurants. The beach access is right across from the boardwalk. All chairs / cushions/umbrellas were is great condition and lots of availability. There were so many things right about this place that I would highly recommend staying at the facility.

Nothing I liked. We seemed to be in a flight path & there was an area where motorbikes would come & go from early morning to late at night. Also there was burn off & smoke smell mostly early morning so couldn’t use the balcony. Couldn’t get a lounger around the pool to have a swim. Always had towels on even if people weren’t there. Wasn’t policed at all. Breakfast was very poor with not much selection. Expected much more from this hotel.

We liked the quiet after a week in seminyak. The property has the lovely old features of the Bali of yesteryear throughout the expansive gardens but the modern upgrades of the room. You have a choice of 3 pools. There are many dining options a short stroll from the hotel. If you enjoy shopping there is a variety of shops very close by.

We loved our stay at Griya Santrian. We were looking for a relaxing, easy vacation. Griya Santrian was perfect. The staff was friendly, helpful and fantastic. My air condition froze and was fixed immediately. The grounds are beautiful, immaculate and abundant in lovely vegetation. Three pools were perfect, meaning no pool was overcrowded. We loved dining and swimming with the sea in view. We rented bikes,used the free kayaks and the staff made everything easy. Our rooms were large with balcony. The beds were so comfortable. Ambience, public areas and rooms are all excellent. Only criticism is the broken equipment in gym (cycling machine) and the oar of one of the canoes is twisted and shortened (hard to use). A personal suggestion is to reduce the lighting on the beach in the evening to make the view more e joyable.

Gardens are looked after more than the buildings and pools. Garden wing pools were cloudy and mouldy. Trellis in centre pool is rotted and very unstable. Breakfast ordinary and needs more choices. Overall the property is tired and not worth the $$$.

I was surprised at how highly rated this hotel is on Expedia. The staff and grounds are lovely, but that is everywhere in Bali. The rooms are old, dirty and in need of a serious make over. Lamp shades stained. Floors chipped and marked. Bathrooms mouldy and in very poor condition. My basin didn’t drain properly. The shower was moody and cracked. The toilet was old and didn’t flush well. I think it is seriously over priced.

The breakfast is very low quality as well.

Loved the position of the Griya Santrian. Lovely views from the beach loungers. Deluxe room by centre pool was good. Surprised that there were no activities like cultural performances or pool activities. The breakfast was disappointing,poor quality juice and the coffee was undrinkable. That was a topic raised by everyone we met. Would return if breakfast was better. We prefer the Maya and the Hyatt Regency which are not so resistant to change. Felt that the Griya Santrian needs to listen to it’s guests more

Went to a different hotel after been in Nusa Lembongan. Omg. We regretted we didn’t go back to Griya. We will definitely go back there again.
