Decent small rooms. Pretty much dated. Tower warmer doesn’t work (remove it), dresser drawers old with handles missing parts. Lots of wear in room. Never figured out the temperature control. Otherwise staff nice, present well. Vicinity restaurant is pretty good, Tower view on UF staff slow to seat and take order at real slow time. But great location. That said I would still stay again.

The location is calm and lovely for getting around with the Tower Station very close. The view from the room was spectacular and in the end, that’s what we came for. The accommodations themselves are old and in some instances quite poorly maintained but renovations are apparently the underway.

-Location: most excellent
-During the middle of our stay, we ran out of body soap in the shower. Asked housekeeping to come and fill the bottle, but the concierge brought a new bottle. We couldn’t remove the old one and replace it with the one he brought. And for the next 3 days, housekeeping didn’t bother to add soap or replace the old soap bottle with the new one.
-The TV Channel line-up was limited. On several occasions, BBC channels blanked out every few minutes for a few seconds
-The shower was not completely enclosed with glass doors. With a single door covering half the shower, one had to be extra careful to keep the water from splashing out, but it did, and we had to clean the bathroom floor after every shower.

A Room with a View, But Lacking Comfort
We booked The Tower Hotel by Thistle for a double celebration: my wife’s 40th birthday and our six-year-old daughter’s first trip to London. While the location provided unforgettable memories, the hotel itself is heavily dated.
The Positives:
Views & Location: The absolute highlight is the unbeatable location and the breathtaking view of Tower Bridge from our window.
Generous Space: Our family room was surprisingly large for the city centre.
Comfort for Children: The pull-out bed for our daughter was a full double, which she found incredibly comfortable.
Service: The staff were genuinely friendly.
The Negatives:
Stifling Temperatures: The room was far too warm, as the air conditioning is centrally locked at 25°C. When we queried this, reception simply handed us a plug-in fan.
Poor Sleep Quality: Sleep was further hampered by an uncomfortable main bed and hopelessly flat pillows.
Lack of Plugs: There are zero plug sockets near the bed for charging devices.
Archaic Bathrooms: The bathroom desperately needs modernising. It features separate hot and cold taps rather than a mixer, and an old-fashioned rubber plug on a chain.
The Verdict:
If you book purely for the iconic views, spacious rooms, and brilliant location, it delivers. However, if you value a good night's sleep and modern comforts, this property leaves a lot to be desired.

The The Tower Hotel is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting London, especially if location is high on your list.

Our room was on the smaller side, but honestly, it didn’t matter since we weren’t there to spend time indoors. We were out exploring most of the day, and the room had everything we needed to rest and recharge.

What really makes this hotel stand out is its unbeatable location. It sits right on the River Thames, next to Tower Bridge and within steps of the Tower of London. You’re in the heart of some of the city’s most iconic sights, which makes getting around incredibly easy.

If you’re booking, I highly recommend choosing a room with a view of Tower Bridge. We did, and the view was absolutely amazing, especially at night when the bridge is lit up.

Overall, a great stay. Between the prime location and those unforgettable views, we would definitely stay here again.

The room was comfortable and clean with great views both to front and rear of hotel. The location is ideal for exploring London as it is close to the Underground at Tower Hill and to the Thames water taxi at the Millennium Pier. Short walk across Tower Bridge to Southwark Cathedral and Borough market . Overall good value for money. Close to some excellent eateries at St Katherine’s Docks.
Also short walk to Spitalfields and the vibrant east end of London.
The concierge was very helpful and stored my bag for several days while I took a side trip out of London.
My only issue was that the front desk could not reserve additional nights for me and I had to do it online which seemed a bit odd.

Glad for luggage check in option. Sheet had stain on it and needed to be replaced. Hard time getting prompt resolve on this. It is probably a UK thing, since none of the other hotels we stayed at had washcloths either, just an FYI. Breakfast was good, tons of options. Overall decent place to stay. Close to restaurants, the Tower bridge, and the Tower of London castle all in very short walking distance.

This property is very well located, it’s literally next to the Tower Bridge and Tower of London which is a plus if you’re planning on going there. 9 minute walk to the train station which is also a plus and 9 minute walk to the pier where you can ride an Uber boat to get around London and main attractions. The downside is that there’s no amenities at all. No pool, no toiletries which I find very odd, the rooms are very outdated, the building is not that old for how outdated was the room from inside. They don’t even provide wash cloths, we found our door room open after we left for the day. We tried to seek assistance from concierge but we got a lot of “I don’t know” so we had to relay a lot on our phones and google. There are no blackout curtains so it was hard to fall asleep as the lights from the river and bridge were really bright. If you’re looking for location convenience this is your place but if you want to spend relaxing time in your room, this is not it.

We initially were given a room with no view but we paid for a room with a view. This was rectified quite quickly. There was a smell of sewage in the bar and lobby area. The down stairs toilet was out of action so that was the suspected cause of the smell.

Hotel is in a great location. Hotel is very nice and our room had a nice view over St Katherine’s Dock so fairly quiet. Room was looking a bit tired but bed was comfortable, room was clean and everything worked. The only complaint I have is that service was a bit slow, reception, coffee shop and bar. Would definitely stay again though and generally pretty happy.

The breakfast was great, and the room had everything advertised, but the coffee machine didn't work at all – which I reported to reception, and they didn't fix.

The floor was carpeted and simply dirty.

£300 for two nights with a view of Tower Bridge should have been in a nicer room.

Such a high price doesn't reflect the standard of the room.

The view is beautiful, but the rest (which is all on your end) needs work :D

Very helpful staff on check in. I had requested extra pillows on line which were provided. WiFi was more than adequate for my needs. The room was clean though the bathroom may need upgrading soon. One query was why the only bedside table was to the side of one of the two single beds as were the light controls as this meant having to get out of bed to switch off the lights and return round the room in the dark.

The location is fantastic. We walked to The Underground in seven minutes. Our view of Tower Bridge was legendary. We did have a bathtub and we were happy about that. Our twin beds were both very comfortable. TV and WiFi worked well. It was quiet. We had a little space heater in our room and that worked well and kept us very warm. Concierge was very helpful and kind. Taxi rank outside made getting away very easy when we were in a rush. This hotel is not new, but it was in good condition and comfortable.

From the moment we first walked through the front doors, we were greeted with the warmest, friendliest smile from Montserrat, at the front desk. We were exhausted from travel and she was kind, patient and helpful with us arriving early and getting us checked into our room. The room was perfect!!! The view of the Tower Bridge and Shard in the background was spectacular. The room was very clean and comfortable. I was traveling with my two teenage children so we needed a rollaway bed and it was brought to us very quickly along with extra towels. The bathtub was amazing. Great water pressure and hot water. Soaking in the large tub after a long day of exploring the city was a wonderful way to unwind and relax. There were lots of restaurants along the marina, right around the corner from the hotel. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, Viscinity, but the menu looked delicious and the view from the outdoor seating area with firepits looked absolutey beautiful. Hopefully, we can dine there on a future visit. And once again, upon check out, we were pleasantly greeted by Montserrat. I can't say enough good things about her and our wonderful stay at The Tower Hotel. I would gladly stay there again on future visits and highly recommend to anyone visiting London.
