Lovely comfortable rooms, nice and clean and an easy to use hot shower. Great staff. Only down side was arriving on a cold rainy February afternoon and the rooms were very cold as the heating hadn’t been put on before we arrived. We walked back into town and bought a half price hot water bottle each while the rooms warmed up a bit. Other than that all was good.

A really good back street pub, with a choice of local ales (Bateman's among others) decent music, nice beer garden/courtyard for Spring and Summer months and a generally, good vibe.
The landlady was extremely friendly and accommodating - no problems checking in a little earlier. Parking permit provided too.

Think it was ensuite - large bathroom adjacent to our room.
Easy access when driving into Lincoln, but no more than a 10-15 minute (albeit uphill!) walk to the Cathedral, castle and excellent pubs near Steep Hill
Heaters provided, though the bathroom especially, on the cold side. Breakfast would have been a bonus.
Overall, really happy and would definitely stay again when next in Lincoln.

Pleasant pub. No issues. Parking pass handed out right away. Made to feel welcome. Plenty of locals and regulars in the bar going about their business and was lovely to see. Shown to room, access no matter what the hour either through the pub or side entrance. Room was spacious and clean. Good shower facility. No issues for an overnight stay to wander into Lincoln.

We only booked The Queen In The West the night before staying. We called and spoke to a member of staff about a couple of questions we had, they answered all our questions being incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Our welcome was perfect, the lady was very helpful and welcoming. The room was a good size with a bathroom right next door but no one else used it as it was at the top of the stairs. Everything was very clean.

My only comment is that the room we stayed in (room 2) was up some very steep stairs. This may be an issue for some people.

Really great rooms, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. Everything was clean and in good working order. The staff were really nice, letting us drop our bags off prior to check in. The area is really quiet so a good night's sleep was had. The hotel is 10 mins walk away from the city centre.

I wasn't sure if the sheets had been washed. The room smelled very strongly of artificial air freshener which made me gag & was there to cover up another smell. As a woman travelling on my own it didn't feel safe as there are two exit doors, one passing through a pub courtyard full of noisy drunk men & the other directly onto the street and I didn't know who had a key. The only ventilation in the bathroom was the open window which i couldn't close and directly outside were the noisy drunk men so I couldn't shower until pub closing time & it was freezing cold. None of the electrical items were PAT tested and some were unsafe, extension cables overloaded with plugs etc. I was cold because the cheap heater didn't work. Neither did the fan or the bedside light, internet wasn't good. There was no parking as advertised, just on-street parking in a rough area, it didn't feel safe to leave the car. The mattress was old and hard, nothing was clean, the furniture was a random selection of old things that looked like they came from a skip. I was hassled by a man when I unloaded the bags because its not a good area. I didn't want to use the towels or get into the bed or touch anything, the carpet was sticky. I had to wash all my unused clothes when I got home to get rid of the smell. Do not stay here, this is not modern hospitality, there are clean, safe, well run places that cost less. If I'd paid £10 a night I'd have been disappointed. If I ran this place, I'd be ashamed.

The bar had a good range of beers and friendly locals made for good company.
About a 10minute walk to the Cathedral & Castle so was very happy with the location.

Firstly unlike Expedia description the Queen in the west is NOT a bed and breakfast business found out at check that they do not provide meals of any type. They suggested to go to a cafe for breakfast which is a 6 minute walk away. But failed to advise us that is it closed due to refurbish.

Will Not use Expedia again to find accommodation.

Rooms are in a good location near to bars and restaurants and the picturesque riverside. The pub itself is friendly and good value with a good selection of real ales. There is a quiz night on a Thursday. We considered the room itself was reasonable value for money and although it has all facilities needed, it could do with updating, especially the shower room, which is small.

A little gem at a very good price

This is not traditional pub accommodation - no beery smells, swirly carpets, or noise from below; in fact the accommodation is in a separate part of the building well away from the bars. There was a ground floor room, which I did not see; I was on the first floor - good sized, tastefully decorated bedroom and huge shower room with basin and toilet immediately next door for my sole use. (One word of warning - the stairs are steep and narrow.) Parking is on the street outside using permit provided by the hosts. 15-20 minutes walk to the cathedral, mostly uphill! (But not coming back of course.)

Parking easy on the street but make sure you have a pass for the next day also as the parking restrictions kick in at 8am, the parking attendants were out and about and check out is at 11am. No breakfast, just a room. Nice pub attached with a beer garden. Central location. Good for us parents visiting university students.

Plesantly suprised with the accommodation. Private room with own front door and back door to the pub garden. Sufficient and comfortable for a short stay. Will stay again. Only issue is do not do food and no fridge in the room - landlord kindly kept our milk in their fridge though so we sst and ate our cereals in the pub garden in the morning.

I chose this accommodation as I was looking for somewhere simple and not to expensive for a short visit to Lincoln. I am glad I did. Being frank, the room is tired and if you're looking for five star, this is not for you. But it was warm, comfortable and adequate for a one night stay.

The room is actually beside a traditional local pub. The welcome was very friendly and helpful. There's free WiFi and you get a parking permit to park on the street outside. The breakfast was better than I have had in much more expensive hotels. I'd stay here again.

The house (ground floor, one room and bathroom, of a house) backs onto the beer garden and the front door (well, it isn't a door more of a gate) is right on the street so it was really noisy. We could still hear the band at 1 in the morning. So if you want peace this isn't for you. There was damp in the room, no bedside tables ( a sloping writing bureau one side). The lighting was very dim and could only be switched off by getting out of bed.
The service was very friendly, as was the pub and the breakfast was very nice. Parking is by a permit which you need to get from the pub and is on street parking.

Owner was very apporachable and I liked the local nature of the pub. We were on the ground floor and so no more stairs as is often the case in the pubs. We had assumed that the pub served dinner but it did not. There was limited space beside the bed to put a cup of tea and the furnishings were a bit old fashioned. I thought it was fun to have direct access to the beer garden but the downside was that we could hear it in the room but as it seemed to close at 11:00 , this would not be a problem for most people.

Very friendly staff and service spot-on. The only thing that stops the 5* rating was that I found the bed uncomfortable, but other than that no problems with recommending the Queen in the West. A nice pub type inn with a couple of rooms. Mine was in the annex with a door staight out onto the street and by my car. Only downside was that parking wasn't easy if you left it until after 6.00 PM and its not that central for old town Lincoln so if you go out in the evening you are best to drive. It looks good on the map but a massive hill ! Breakfast was grand and the room was cheap. Only downside was that the heater in the shower room didn't work and it wasn't fixed during my stay , it was a very cold winters night !

A Very Pleasant Pub

We stayed at the Collyweston Slater largely based on location & reviews. It was a delightful pub b&b. The room was comfortable & clean. If stairs are a problem, you might want to stay in a more accessible location. We didn’t want to leave the area for a meal so we ate dinner at the pub restaurant & it was reasonably priced & delicious. The salad was SOOO good & fresh. Breakfast was included & was perfect. All in all, a very restful & pleasant one night stay in our way to Heathrow.

Very Welcoming stay in Lincoln

If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay within walking distance of Lincoln’s sights this is the place for you. We spent 3 nights in the downstairs room which was cosy and clean. The bed was comfortable with 2 hard pillows and 2 soft. There was a TV with Freesat channels. Heating was by a towel rail and moveable radiator. The bathroom was a good size with a shower and towels, handwash and shower gel.
The surrounding area is quiet and the walk into the city takes about 15-20 mins.
Breakfast was really lovely. A Full English and cereals and toast.
There is free parking on the road outside with the local residents parking pass that you are given when you check in. A returnable deposit of £10 is required.
We had a lovely stay and would do so again if we were in the area.

Pleasant, clean, simple room next to a pub (with good beer choice!). Bed was very comfortable for those under 6' / 1.85m but may be a little short for taller guests. There can be a bit of noise from outside if drinkers spill into the street but it didn't trouble us. The large separate shower room/toilet was good. Breakfast decent. It's a 15-20 minute walk from the centre of town in a quiet neighbourhood.
