The room was very neglected and obviously hadn't been properly cleaned ie dirty window ledges, dust everywhere, bare repairs in the bathroom, remote control needed new batteries, frayed carpet into bathroom - the rooms were nothing like advertised on website and are certainly not worth the £492 we paid for the five nights we were there - only worth at least half of that. I am emailing expedia separately with complaint. We learnt there were only 4 members of staff looking after the hotel and was due to be sold sometime in January. The bar/restaurant did not appear to be open and customers few and far between.

As soon as we drove into the property it looked run down/closed. We saw the lady in the very warm reception who checked our names and gave us a key to one of the outside buildings. While we were walking to there we said to each other what have we done. Entering the room it just smelt old and musty. Layers of dust, cobwebs, dead spiders, bottle tops in the wardrobe and cold. The radiator in the bedroom had the control missing. The bathroom had one but still didnt work. The vanity unit/kettle area was clean and so was the kettle. The bed top sheets were clean.
This place needs abit of money spending on it and a decent cleaner and it could be nice. Such a shame.
Photos in the advert very misleading.

This property was not as expected. Their own website was outdated with pictures from years ago. The property itself was run down and overall cleanliness was poor.
The room itself was adequate but cleanliness was a factor, dirty mirrors, sink not properly cleaned dust on cupboards and ledges.
It seems that the owners are not investing and letting ot run down.

Had everything I needed for a two night solo stay. Due to hot weather they'd made sure there was a fan in the room as well. Good size car park, a little run down but nothing a lick of paint or replacing a missing bathroom tile won't fit. Had USB plugs in the room as well so that was an added bonus

I was In the old part and it needs updating badly. Excited when I saw a spa bath in my room but bath was worn around the plug area and not appealing so wasted. Toilet was stained with brown as old. Taps on sink worn and spun round a lot before water came out.

A good value hotel but in need of further upgrade. The stair carpet was frayed and the paint work was very shoddy. Having said that the room was clean and the bed was very comfortably. The breakfast was excellent.

Base for family visit

Friendly and efficient welcome at reception. Shown to the room (room 11) which was in one of the external buildings. Clean, tidy with a comfortable bed. Good space and we both had good nights sleep despite the best efforts of Storm Bert. Really enjoyed the stay.

We booked a bigger room and the photos looked good. We arrived at 15:30 and were shown to the room, it was a large room with a 4 poster bed and looked a good size, but the room had towels scattered over the floor and had not been made ready, we were shown to another room which was very shabby and the radiator did not work, and the room had a small oil filled heater, the shower head, and ceiling light looked like they had not been cleaned or maintained for many months, we said we wern't happy by this stage, so we were shown to the refurbished rooms, but the double room was very small, it was warm and better maintained, but there was a chair but no room for a small table to fit my laptop on to catch up on some work, so i had to balance it on the ironing board in the tiny room, we have now cancelled the December stay, as i asked about a refund for the larger room we paid for but the excuse was you were upgraded to a better room! All the outside of the property looked unloved and shabby, we would not stay here ever again.

Ok for us.

It's a sad run down hotel, I believe they are trying to renovate. The staff are lovely though. Our room was fine for us. But we had to use plug in heaters to warm the room as radiators weren't working. The bed was comfortable and slept ok.
Wasn't sure if they did breakfast or meals. Nothing was mentioned and we didn't ask.

The room was comfortable but got a poor rating for the following reasons. The shower support bracket was at about 4 feet high which made showering difficult. No toilet roll holder, just a couple of rolls piled up on the cupboard. There was no bedside lighting despite at least one socket avaible. Only one main light with the only switch by the door which meant trips to and fro in the dark. Last 2 problems not acceptable in any hotel room. Lastly access only via a narrow spiral staircase. I would not like to have tried this with a suitcase. If I return I will be asking for a room in the annex which, from memory, was much better.

The room was very spacious, with a large comfortable bed, walk in wardrobe area and a large en-suite with an enormous bath and separate shower.
There was a kettle and choice of teas and coffee, although no biscuits or snacks or bottles of water.
We were however given complimentary water to take back to the room when we asked at the bar.
The restaurant was well laid out with enough space between the tables.
The food was exceptionally good, freshly cooked to order, piping hot and deliciously tasty and yet amazingly good value for money.

Room was bigger than I was expecting with a full-size bathroom. Very comfy bed with fresh linen and towels. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant provided prompt service and (I pushed the boat out) the steak was honestly the best I’ve had anywhere (including upmarket restaurants).

Ok was cheap but this place is in need of some work. No mirror in bathroom, shower head at about 3ft 6in high, little hot water at 9am so couldn't really have a shower, duvet cover with a rip, loud gurgling noises from the bath.
Ive been here 2x before and had none of these issues. Please do the refurb

A warm welcome, my room was quiet and clean with a lovely view over farmland. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and I appreciated the generous tea and coffee tray with Biscoff biscuits. My only complaint is that the shower was very weak, possibly due to low water pressure. However my stay was still great value for money, particularly over a weekend.

Very nice independent hotel. I only stayed one night and just stayed in my room so can't comment but on public areas or food etc, but the room was comfortable, (with iron/ironing board & hairdryer. TV was a little small compared to many in rooms these days but perfectly adequate. Pleasant staff, easy check-in

The only thing I didn't like was the shower there was hardly any water coming out, either the head needs descaling or there's not enough power in thw water pump, and the TV was unwatchable it didn't matter how many times I returned it the picture wasn't good, signal was rubbish, I've taken videos of shower and TV, but can't find anywhere to upload on here

The toilet & shower room was dingy the wash hand basin waste was blocked & the water took an age to drain & the mixer taps were loose & swiveld round the window in the main room was very much in need of clean & freshening up with a coat of paint the bed was comfy & there were plenty of towels the staff were friendly but really this hotel could be lovely with a makeover I wish them the best in a hiring this

An excellent four nights stay for me whilst I visited the Royal International Air Tattoo at relatively nearby RAF Fairford. I was well received, allocated a nice comfortable room and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. An evening meal of curry choice was delicious.
Parking was simple and convenient - I would not hesitate to return.

Was calling for days to ask a question about the room, eventually someone answered. When I arrived to check in, nobody at reception. The number left to call was a mobile which was ringing on the reception desk. Waited ages with other people too for any kind of service.

Poor standard overall. A child was in charge of the bar and restaurant. Food very badis and lacking imagination. Mattress hard and uncomfortable. Room unbearably warm but duvet on the bad was suitable for Arctic camping. Cheap fake coffee in the restaurant for breakfast. I wont be back.

There was no sockets and my husband has severe copd so he has a mask to wear at night it was lucky we had a spare extension lead . but they did have a extension lead just on floor underneath kettle , if any water from kettle spilled I’m sure it would have gone bang , we had window open as hot and about 1-1.30 in morning there was a group of people not sure staff or patrons talking and laughing loudly , I know sometimes you get that but this went on for over half hour so u had to shut windows , toilet blocked easy and no toilet brush available
Bed was very comfy and pillows lively and soft , asked for extra pillows and was no problem

An OK hotel. Staff and management make an effort. The room was clean and well enough appointed. Some of the maintenance in the room was below par but it only had visual effects and did not impact in any meaningful way. TV reception was essentially BBC only, and there's no other entertainment around. The area and town is not appealing. I didn't eat but the bar has a reasonable choice of drinks at normal hotel prices. I would stay again if passing through the area.

The hotel is very nice, very clean. However, i was disappointed that our bed was 2 single beds pushed together. It was uncomfortable and the matrresses were singles and could feel the edges in the middle. The fire alarm kept going off, but no one was informing us what was happening.

Staff were really friendly, it was a beautiful setting.

The rooms was comfortable and quiet, however it would have been useful to have something in the room with the wifi code on it.
The route through to the room was grubby and also the entrance door was not closed and there were gaps in it.

The conservatory and bar area were lovely but it felt a little unloved.

The food did the job but was nothing wonderful and the morning eggs were horrible.

It provided clean, comfortable bed and at good value which is what I needed. However, given the space this place could be incredible with a little more care.

Initially arriving at the hotel the exterior looks lovely, as soon as we walked through the front doors another couple were complaining about the cleanliness of their room. We had to walk past smelly bins and smelly drains to get to our room. The room was dated, towels had black marks on, carpet was stained and dirty, the bathroom needs ripping out, not even any hand soap in the bathroom to wash your hands, tv had no remote and no arial. We thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt but as we walked out of the building our room was in, the drain covers were off and there was excrement floating at the top, which is absolutely not what you want to see on your way to eat a meal. The staff apologized and explained they were trying to resolve the situation as there was a drain blockage. There was no management on the site and was left to the staff to solve these issues, a professional company should have been called out or customers moved to another area. There was also dirty, wet toilet paper spread around the drain site. The whole hotel seemed to be left to the young lady on reception and the young lad in the restaurant to run, which is massively unfair on them. Many people were complaining about the poor quality of food and high prices. We were refunded without question when we checked out. The two members of staff that were there were absolutely lovely, it’s such a shame they were left with no help and had to deal with the brunt of everyone complaining. Would not return

Stay here, you won't regret it.

We stayed here as we wanted a night away and judging from the reviews decided to give it a try. On checking in to our room the radiator was on and the room was very hot. However we went to the restaurant for food and spoke to LYNO the manager there. He checked the radiator and unfortunately it was faulty.

He moved us room and for the inconvenience gave us an upgraded room which was perfect really made our night even more special and enjoyable.

The food was wonderful, a great vibe in the restaurant, the waiter was lovely and a really helpful cheerful bloke.

Then we sat outside for a bit drinking wine in the scenic area.

Would 100% recommend here and would to stay here gain.

I would not stay at property again reason being, i paid for a executive room but, although was newly built the bathroom floor was black , the taps leaked when the shower was on, there were ants in the bedroom and on the bed , spiders in the bathroom and was definitely not a king size bed but two singles put togeather. And the noise from next door may as well of been in our room .

The room was hot and couldn’t be controlled although staff showed concern. The net curtains were ragged and well past their best. Wallpaper peeling. Only 3 pillows. The window cills were badly needing attention. I was afraid to try the spa bath as the controls didn’t look safe.
But the price was very fair and staff were friendly
One of the benches in the garden was missing a leg and my friend nearly fell off

Stay was pleasant. I would have liked an easy chair in the room rather than a 'pouffe'. Bedside lamps were dusty. One ceiling bulb was out and another gave off a very low light when room completely dark; even so it was not a problem although it could be an indication of an electrical problem.

Overall stay was good, staff were excellent. Shower head did not work properly but was quickly replaced. Shelf in wardrobe was filthy. Sewage pit alarm was going off outside but more importantly lid was left open waiting for engineer as it was weekend, hazardous, anyone could have fallen in.
