Plenty to do and walks were amazing.
Food / drink was great with plenty of choice and inside our apartment was absolutely gorgeous , plenty of space with everything you could possibly want and breathtaking views . We certainly look forward to returning.

Overall a great stay! The surroundings are beautiful, we had a gorgeous lake view from our standard room, which really made the stay. Very comfy bed, slept well. Great breakfast! Although the room itself was very clean we had dirty linen (pillow case and towel). When we tried to ring reception nobody answered our calls. Bedroom was modern and spacious and was generally well kept and maintained but bathroom was aged.

Another lovely stay at this hotel. We had a lovely 1st floor room with a floor to ceiling view of the lake.
Great choice for breakfast.
We used the pool & spa, that was an extra £10 each. It was nice when it used to be included in your stay. Pool was a bit on the cold side.
Only negative was the noise of people going to bed and chatting down the corridor all through the night, being woken up at 4am with that wasn't great.

Well, the location is very good overlooking the lakes.

However, the rooms and staff are a mess.

Starting with the room, the shower screen was broken and flooded the floor, the safe had no batteries, the headboard was hanging off the wall, the balcony was filthy and the furniture falling apart.

I tried calling housekeeping and reception to report the problems but no answer after 15 minutes on each. I finally gave up and went down to reception to report the problems, no action taken despite reminding a further 2 times.

Room not made up on second day, reported this again and was told it would it would be made up immediately. Never was.

The decking around the outside of the hotel was nice but needs stinging nettles and weeds removing that are growing through.

Paid £80 for a few hours in the spa only to find it full of kids. Don’t get me wrong, kids enjoy a pool but having paid £80 for my wife and I it was less than relaxing.

On the plus side the food was good, especially the steaks with peppercorn sauce.

All in all rather disappointing as the place could have been so much better.

First of all, location, view and hotel was lovely. Breakfast was lovely also so would recommend.

Just for info though where we were disappointed, No air-con in bedrooms and in the reception area where we spent quite a bit of time, they would t put the air-con (assuming they have there) making it very uncomfortable. Pricing in that area was high also. The other bigger issue is that we paid a very high nightly price where we though we could use the space facilities but were told that if we didn’t book a spa, we would have to pay £10 per hour per person to use the swimming pool which defeats the object of going to a Spa hotel.

Stayed in room 152. Bedroom was lovely and bed was very comfortable. The bathroom very old and needs refurbishing desperately. Paid extra money to have a lake view and had the worst possible view of the lake at the end it looked like a slurry pit.
Staff were lovely and friendly, breakfast was amazing, would definitely come back to stay, but would make sure I’m not staying in that room as it was not worth the extra money for the ‘view’.

The property is in a beautiful nature reserve area with lots of activities to do if on holiday. The hotel has lovely views, modern and spacious.
However lots of niggly things made the stay un-relaxing and felt like they were just out to charge every part of your stay extra fees and if i could have cancelled my stay and gone elsewhere I would have. E.g. if your room is already before check in time you are asked to pay an early check in fee which is the first I've come across this. Also not able to use the amenities as they are all an extra fee, no complimentary use of the pool which again is a first for me in hotels and not mentioned on Expedia.
In the brasserie the food was fine however there never seemed to be enough waiters and only saw them again when we'd almost finished our meal, mine was missing items and the creme brulee was not set and runny.
We were going through a heatwave and the rooms do not have AC or fans which is definitely needed on the top floor, it was so hot we couldn't sleep. I understand due to being in the location they are they couldn't add AC however fans could be installed easily, plus the bedding was still heavy winter duvets and no light sheets,.
Reception were very helpful to move us rooms due to ours not having net curtains so our neighbours could easily see into our room from their balcony which was one plus.

Hotel and grounds were amazing, the view are breathtaking. Only let down was the spa for such a large hotel the spa wasn’t big enough.
They charge £10 per person for the use of the spa for 1hr. Free if you book a treatment again maximum use 1hr.
No where on the hotel description did I see a charge. If I did I probably wouldn’t have booked as we were looking for a spa hotel. Thankfully the weather was wonderful so we enjoyed the surrounding area and hotel grounds.

I've stayed at De Vere Cotswold Water Park many times and I'm always blown away by how amazing my stay is.
The hotel is spectacular, modern and spotlessly clean. Every team member is welcoming and goes out of there way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.
The food is also a highlight, in beautiful surroundings and super tasty.
This is my go-to hotel when in this area and would highly recommend.

I arrived at the hotel around 12pm, although check-in was not until 3pm. I was told I could check in earlier if I upgraded to a more expensive room, but I decided not to and instead left my luggage at reception before heading to a wedding.

When I returned at around 11:30pm, I was checked in and given keys to my room. Unfortunately, once I got ready for bed, I realised the room was not particularly clean and was also extremely noisy. There was a lot of noise coming from reception, as well as constant sounds from what seemed to be water pipes running through or near the room.

After a long day and late arrival back from the wedding, this made it very difficult to sleep, which was disappointing.

From making our room booking, adding food bookings and treatments was hassle. Getting through on the phone was just ringing out, so I tried messaging which took a week to get an unsatisfactory answer. We booked rooms and spa package but still had to pay extra to go for a swim on our arrival and then they wanted extra for slippers. The rooms are small and mediocre, we didn't have lake view thus we looked out on a golf cart. The spa was tired and a bit grubby looking, water jets barely worked, sauna and steam room were large and nice. Treatments and staff were good. First night we ate in boathouse. It was dreadful, they asked if we had dietary needs we said yes gluten but the couldn't accommodate our needs. Our foccachia never turned up. The steaks were cold and the desserts were very poor, Bill was £220 for 4 which included a cocktail each which were delicious. Next morning we had breakfast in brasserie it was superb ... huge choice and best quality. Staff were excellent and so was our afternoon tea. It could be so much better, I dont think I would recommend or make a return visit

Very long distances to the rooms. All vehicle chargers broken. Overcrowded, especially at breakfast. Breakfast bacon hard and turned over on itself and cemented to itself. £35 steak tough - no information about how many days hung. Small bowls for cereal, small glasses for orange juice. Good variety of cereals at breakfast. Dining areas always very noisy - loud guffaws and very loud conversations. Guests at dinner in Bermuda shorts. Parking too far away from reception. Staff always helpful. Rooms lovely - large and well designed. Good design throughout hotel, especially pottery.

The staff were excellent, the breakfast was really good but the room was very noisy. There was a function near our room and the music and associated noise of people upstairs was not good. We had to complain at reception twice and finally could get to sleep at 11.30, which is not unacceptable but not really what you want from this class of hotel. I now regret not asking for a partial refund.

Not a 4 star hotel at all. I’ve stayed in 3-star hotels that were much better than this. The hotel looks nothing like the photos online. it’s very run down and poorly maintained. The bath water drains extremely slowly, the taps are rusty, and there was mould in the bathroom, which is unacceptable.
You can also hear people from above and next door.
Another disappointing issue was the pool access. On Hotels.com it gives the impression that the pool is included, but nowhere during booking does it clearly mention there’s an extra charge to use it. Only after booking do they send an email informing you about the additional fee, which feels very misleading.
Overall, definitely not worth the price or the 4-star rating.

Lovely surroundings but a bit of a walk everywhere as it’s so spread out. Good breakfast very helpful staff. Lunch at the boathouse was disappointing, much of our pre booked meal was no longer available, the vegan dessert wasn’t vegan and the children were served after the adults so were left waiting. The toad in the hole was actually a standard Yorkshire as served with the roast meals with two sausages plonked on top.

Overall super clean and friendly. Surprise no air con for such a modern property. Couldn’t amend room temperature other than opening the window whilst radiator on, seems a bit of a waste.
Breakfast superb! So much choice and top quality.
Brasserie closed Sunday nights so had to eat at The Old Boathouse. Not the best - staff amazing, food average at best. Understaffed in kitchen and out front. Our meals were ok, delayed but not too bad but saw two tables send theirs back as they were cold.
Given it’s a fair drive or walk to go elsewhere it’s not the best hotel for food after breakfast.
Gym OK, have to book and pay for pool so we swerved that.
Room large and bed large. Not as the pictures for the bathroom which could have done with a refurb but all clean and serviceable.
Would stay again though.

I feel the stay could have been better with greater attention to service. We paid for early check in, as we were attending a wedding and wanted to drop our things off/get ready. We were told that our twin bed set up had yet to be turned into separate beds from the king bed. When we got back at 12:30am, the beds hadn't been separated and at that point, just wanted to sleep.

It was a really uncomfortable night. The room was stiflingly hot and there were only too small upper windows, not letting enough air in. It got to the point at 5am where it became unbearable, so we attempted to put the supplied fan on, but it made so much noise due to a bent fan, thankfully we managed to adjust it to stop the noise.

Everything else was fine. Breakfast was good, the staff on reception were friendly... it's just a shame that the housekeeping service, broken fan, and poor ventilation in the room let the experience down. I couldnt bear to think what it would be like to stay in one of those rooms during a heatwave.

Lovely view of the lake from our room. Room was spacious. Cleaning lacked attention to detail - there was dust on the shelves by the kettle. The shower gel had been watered down.

I wouldn’t eat in either of the restaurants if I stayed again. Food was overpriced for what it was. Breakfast was very busy and only one coffee machine for decaf coffee so had to wait quite a long time to access the machine

Lovely stay, it was my second time there. However, I was in a room that was right above the fans/generators or something so it was really noisy even at nearly 11pm and came back to life at 5am. The breakfast has changed since the last time we visited. It says that it's healthier with a very limited choice of cereal, although I found the granola very sweet. There are no longer any fried eggs or fried potatoes. Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, they still serve traditional bar meals with chips and mayonnaise, so doesn't seem a joined up approach? Preferred the previous system.

No bottled water in the room, will expect this is provided considering what you paid. No EV charger available on site is a big mark deduction (Both out of service). They should send this message out to everyone who has made a booking, I only found out when I arrived but luckily there's a EV charging point in close proximity. The hotel on the whole was lovely and it was perfect for location. The issue was with our specific room, we had a tiny window and as far as I could make out from looking at all the windows, we were the only room in the hotel that had that small a window which made it feel more of a prison cell.
We stayed for 2 nights and each morning (once at 6am and then at 8am) we were awoken by an incredibly loud and constant vibrating noise. The first time we heard it it sounded like a plane engine so we thought it was a plane flying low initially. However I do think the room was next to maybe some kind of generator/power room and the noise was potentially related to the machines in there but I can’t stress how loud the noise was and for the time as well it just did affect the sleep.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the hotel.

Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that the property was understaffed, resulting in lengthy queues at check-in. The overall organisation felt disjointed and chaotic from the outset, which set a negative tone for the stay.

Dining options were very limited. Only one restaurant was available for dinner, operating on reduced hours, and we were unable to secure a table during our stay. This is not what one would expect from a hotel of this size and standard. Furthermore, there was only one electric vehicle charging point on site, which was unfortunately out of order.

The swimming pool arrangements were also disappointing. Access was restricted, and guests were required to pay an additional £10 per person to use the facility — a charge that is highly unusual and felt unreasonable given the overall experience.

The room itself was dated and in need of maintenance. The bathroom appeared tired, with rusty taps, deteriorating grout, and non-functioning shampoo dispensers. No conditioner or basic amenities were provided. The room was very minimal and lacked attention to detail. Cleanliness was also a concern; the extractor fan was covered in mould and dust, and overall housekeeping standards appeared insufficient.

In addition, the rooms are not soundproofed, and we could clearly hear noise from neighbouring rooms, which significantly affected comfort and privacy. The double bed was small and dated; a king-size bed

Room was lovely and looked recently refurbished however the bathroom was tired - lots of limescale, loose tiles on the wall, peeling silverware.

The worst part of our stay was the paperthin walls - on one side someone had snuck their dog onto a dog free floor and the said dog barked everytime someone walked past the room this went on until 2am. On the other side were 2 drunken guests who had no volume control when talking, and whose limited vocab meant every sentence contained the f word, this went on until 4am. Sadly not exactly the romantic night away we had planned.

We had to cancel our stay at De Vere Cotswold Water Park due to a genuine family emergency and provided two days’ notice. We weren’t asking for a refund — only the option to reschedule, even if it meant paying an additional fee. Unfortunately, the hotel refused outright and retained the full payment.
I understand cancellation policies exist, but good hospitality should allow for some discretion and humanity, particularly in quieter periods like February. The complete lack of flexibility felt unnecessarily rigid and quite disappointing.
Sadly, this experience has left us feeling that guest circumstances are not treated with much compassion, and on principle, we would not choose to stay here in the future on principal .

Room was great, staff very helpful especially as we had a lot of noisy people above our room and I had to call to ask if someone could get them to stop after it had been gping on for 45 minutes and it did stop quickly after speaking to reception.

Extremely annoyed that we had to pay £10 each to reserve use of the pool. I totally understand that it gets busy and don’t mind reserving but to pay to reserve is unacceptable on top of the other charges. Really annoyed us and took away from the enjoyment of the stay.
