This is a very tired hotel. Holes in curtains and stains in the carpet. Waited 5-6 mins for a member of the team to arrive in the dining room at breakfast and then gave up. The dining room looked abandoned and not set up for breakfast.

This hotel, given its location and setting should really be a lot better than this.

The pool and spa area is nice but the Sauna goes off and one has to go to reception to have it put back on. The lights in the pool area do not come on until it is dusk outside meaning it is not adequately lit. I had to ask for 3 days on the bounce for shower gel for the showers as the dispensers in the area were empty and not refilled.

Unloved and not properly cared for is my view.

I won’t be returning.

We had a good stay, although the hotel room we stayed in was in need of updating, it was very clean and large. The bathroom definitely needs updating as the door and floor are a bit splintered/ cracked, though it was perfectly clean, new towels are needed as the ones we had were very clean but quite thin from being in use for a long time.

The reception area appears in the process of updating, hopefully the carpets in the corridors will also be replaced as they let it down a bit. The restaurant was very nice, the menu was a bit limited but our food was fantastic and it was served quickly and was nice and hot.

The best part of the stay was definitely the staff, from checking in to checking out they were outstanding. All were very professional but also friendly and approachable, we’ve stayed in many hotels and have to say the staff here were the best that we’ve met.

Staff were friendly, but the room was very dated. The reception has a painted concrete floor which is a terrible first impression everything is worn and dated.

The pool was nice and having work done to it the gym looked really fresh and new. changing rooms were grotty and dated .

Didnt eat here I went out as I was the only one in the restaurant travelling for work solo.

I will be looking elsewhere when I stay in the area in future.

The hotel was very quiet with it being out of season so the menu choice in the restaurant was very limited but what we had was good and value for money.
Breakfast was freshly cooked to order again because of the limited number of guests.
We will definitely return.

The hotel was tired and is in need of some updating. General areas were not as clean as we would have liked although the rooms were on the whole acceptable. TV didn't work, cob webs around the windows but the bed and bathroom areas were OK
The area around the swimming pool had broken and raised tiles and the ladies changing room had no shower facilities
We didn't eat at the hotel and we didn't see anyone else eating there either
I hope the hotel is due for some modernisation as the setting is lovely and views out over the golf club could be a real asset
I can't see us booking to stay again

Could/ should be a top place to stay. Sadly, it is tired with the owners paying minimal attention to the place. The staff made it fab, but the lack of food choices in the restaurant and the cheaper ingredients etc were disappointing. Pool lovely, not always heated. There seems to be a catch 22 of not providing a high standard so it lost favour or it lost favour and dropped its expenditure. This should be 4/5 star. The door says 3 star, but currently more a 2 star

The restaurant was the same waiting 40 mins for a starter even though it wasnt busy maybe six people in there. The staff where good but expected to do too much.

We arrived Friday afternoon, booked in. We were told at reception don’t leave the windows open at night, because of the mosquito s. Went to the room ,heating on full belt, no control in the room at all. Hardly slept the two nights we were there. All the carpets throughout the building marked and worn and paint work in very poor condition. The room wasn’t cleaned the next day, either tea ,coffee and milk not replenished,had to ask at reception for these items.
The one and only good thing about our stay was draught Guinness.

The Good
- The **staff were lovely** throughout our two-night family stay. Every interaction was warm and welcoming.

The Disappointments

Facilities & Cleanliness
- The building is marked with “1991” above reception, and it truly feels like the hotel hasn’t been updated since. Décor is extremely dated, and the **carpets are stained and look filthy**, showing obvious signs of age and neglect.
- **Breakfast service starts at 8am**, which is later than most hotels and not ideal for families with younger children or early risers.

Room Issues
- We were informed on arrival that we had been “upgraded” to the hotel’s “nicest room,” a suite. Despite the apparent upgrade, there was **only one bed for the three of us** (my wife and our 6-year-old son). There was no pull-out bed or proper sleeping arrangement for a child, and the sofa was **far too small** even for a young child. This resulted in all of us having to squeeze into one bed – a very uncomfortable experience. I had booked a room with two beds.

- The room lacked several basics, including:
- No safe
- Insufficient towels (not enough even for two guests, let alone three)
- No teaspoons for the in-room tea/coffee; also, no biscuits or similar amenities
- For the **price paid**, these issues were especially disappointing, as we had reasonably expected much more.

Hotel itself is in a lovely location and decent size. The gym is amazing for a hotel gym but that’s where the good stuff ends. Room was filthy, with hair all over the floor in the bathroom and in the bath itself. Was told to keep my windows closed in 30 degree heat. Food was appalling but should have guessed considering the restaraunt/bar was empty. Wasn’t expecting gourmet but for £17 for fish and chips you need to do better. Breakfast items were cold/barely cooked. Hallways were filthy, whole place needs a deep clean. Staff were friendly but not sure how this place is open to be honest, barely anyone in the hotel and golf course looked empty. Needs major improvement.

Knowing from a 'local' that it was only 3 months on from being migrant accommodation the Hotel was obviously not yet back to normal and although the room was adequate, and very quiet the ceilings needed a thorough dusting to remove cobwebs. The corridor carpeting also needed attention. The staff went out of their way to be both friendly and helpful and I am sure if we needed a bath plug one would have been provided. The shower was a bit contrary from warm if held at knee height to freezing if set overhead (with control set to 50 degrees) Breakfast was well cooked and filling but it would have been better still had fresh fruit and yoghurts had been available as is normal at all other hotels we have stayed in. Overall we would come back again should we be in the area and would hope that the standards had improved.

Newish hotel part of a larger golf and leisure complex. Excellent parking right outside, and simple online check-in. Room surprisingly large, with TV, desk and plenty of storage. Bathroom with over bath shower and toiletries provided. A fault with the heated towel rail was fixed in 10 minutes! Very quiet away from the main road and a good full English breakfast the next morning.
Perhaps the only downside is that the complex is fairly isolated and the taxis we used were very expensive. Uber and Bolt are not available here yet.

Part of this review seems unfair considering that my previous night's stay was at the Celtic Manor Resort so I'll try and be as objective as possible. There's no real indication from the outset that this wasn't going to be a wonderful accommodation experience with the setting, long drive from the main road and the fact it is a hotel and golf resort. That is where the positivity ended.
On entering the lobby area, the flooring was an awful concrete surface. Once checked in by staff (all of which were very helpful and courteous), the walk to my first floor room was across carpeting that had seen much better days and was discoloured throughout and needs updating as does most of the décor.
The room was adequate with the most basic of amenities and you can tell was kitted on a threadbare budget. The bed was at least comfy and allowed for a decent night's rest.
I foolishly decided not to go out to eat but instead dine in at the restaurant. The only item of note was the Diet Coke I'm afraid. The wings for the appetizer were only just cooked. The burger for the main was made with low quality beef and the chips straight out of the frozen bag. The cheesecake for dessert was also straight out of the freezer without little time to defrost seemingly.
This culinary car crash was amplified more so when it came to breakfast. The sausages were anaemic and undercooked and subsequently left well alone. Owners looking to make a fast buck but eroding any reputation it once had.

Very tired throughout. Looks as though renovations have been started and abandoned, meaning the spa facilities weren't available and the gym, pool and changing areas very uninviting. We has a \"Junior Suite\" which was just a large room with a distinct lack of sockets and only one tea bag - the bed was comfortable though.
Breakfast on the first morning was buffet style due to large groups of golfers. We had to go hunting for cups, plates and indeed food. There was no fruit or yoghurt or pastries as a continental option. The toaster seemed to have one setting - burnt. When we mentioned this at reception, he just shrugged and kept saying breakfast was still being served. On return to our room, the power had gone, the phone to reception went to voicemail, so we had to return to reception where the \"maintenance man\" was busy checking in guests. When he eventually came to the room, a switch had tripped in the fuse box in the room (?should that have even been there?). All in all not worth the money and spoilt what should habve been a relaxing couple of days

The Wiltshire Hotel, Golf and Leisure Resort after driving 2 and 1/2 hours and what a disappointment.
Photos are very misleading on the website . We had to leave immediately . The room is very dated the base of the beds are grotty. The swimming pool area is a building site feels unsafe. The TV in the room fell over when my little boy walked passed it was balancing against the stand as it had broken. Could have been a lot worse if it had landed on him. I can’t believe what we have just witnessed really. I tried to cancel and was told that I would have to wait until Tuesday to get a refund. I now have to look around the area on a busy bank holiday weekend to look for a hotel. We wanted a pool for the little one and won’t get that or even a room anywhere. We may have to go home. Ruining our weekend. So disappointed. This hotel shouldn’t have been on the website as a choice. There are holes in the floor upstairs covered in rotten carpet felt so unsafe. The hotel is not fit for purpose so please can you refund us the stay we never had. Unfortunately we didn’t stay around to take photos. Awful just awful.

This has to be one of the worse hotel stays we have had. The hotel has an old nurseing home feel to it almost everything felt very dated there were stains on the carpet and even a tile fell off the shower whilst in use and hit my leg, after this we did get moved to a different room. The rooms were very very hot and had no air conditioning and the small fan didnt do much to help. The breakfast was served to you and was very basic and low quality. This hotel appears to be getting some renovation done, the pool area had been re tiled and there was building work going on around the pool and gym facilities.

The Wiltshire needs a facelift. Its very dated and basic. There was no information in the room regarding mealtimes, room service, where the spa was and how to access the spa. It was clean enough but everything seemed to be at the bare minimum. There wasnt even two sachets of coffee. One flat pillow each and only one spare in the cupboard. The bathroom floor tiles were cracked. There were cracks in the bathroom wall.
The food in the dining room was over priced and again was basic. Goats cheese starter served with toast. I thought the toast may have been ciabatta or sourdough but no just a piece of square toast. The ham egg and chips main course was £14 the ham was ultra processed supermarket value range, it was barely pink.
The only thing The Wilshire has going for it is the bar and dining room staff. They were friendly efficient and friendly. I would not recommend or use the Wiltshire again.

Unloved hotel. As we pulled up it didn't give us a welcoming vibe. Reception was very bland with no carpet on the floor. Service was welcoming enough and check in was pretty easy. We made our way out room on the first floor and couldn't miss the carpet that looked like it should have been replaced 20 years ago. The room itself is a great size and cleanliness was good but comfort not so. Mattresses were hard and lumpy, the pillows were that flat they might as well not have existed and there was only 1 per person. It wasn't a great night's sleep. We stayed for the air show at Fairford and it was ok for that but 2 nights was enough.

Check in was quick and easy, was expecting more from a Golf and Leisure resort in regards to the rooms, seem very outdated. Got some food from the restaurant and paid £14 for a burger and chips which was no way near the standard you expect for the price. I have paid less at festivals and the burger and chips have been better quality. Overall not bad but don’t expect luxury that you would at other Golf Resorts.

Not somewhere I want to ever go back to. Very dissappointed. First room allocated had not been serviced since previous guest. I was reallocated and stayed in room 133. Curtain hooks missing so hanging poorly. Two big stains on carpet that looked uncleaned, carpet not hoovered well. Bedding was clean although the valance on the bed base was not fitted neatly. Remote control crusty. Bathroom had cracked sink, bathroom floor had been regrouted but residue not removed. Shower door didn't close properly. Lots of gnat type insects behind toilet. Hairdryer on/off switch broken. Much of the journey from reception to the room is carpet which appears to be a continuous series of stains and looks filthy dirty.
There doesn't appear to be any female staff members.
On a positive note, the guys on reception were helpful finding a decafeinated teabag and sorting a slightly earlier breakfast for me.

This price is reasonable for a hotel with big-sized rooms, including double and single beds for my single occupancy Luxury.
Bathroom is nice and clean.
Only I found when leaving the room a huge-sized Spider 🕷️ on my bed. Until now I have not had any allergic reaction and my night was OK due to I was tired with long drive. Fortunately, I only saw this spider when leaving the room if I had seen this on my arrival It could have spoiled my sleep.

When i arrived reception gave me the wrong room that had other unfortunate guest in when i opened the door. The tv in the room didn't work, the shower was stone cold even after running it for 30 minutes. The pool was freezing, steam room closed for maintenance. They are having a new jacuzzi fitted but unfortunately that was still on a pallet in the car park. I cant comment on the restaurant as that closed early. Definitely a hotel to avoid

A pleasant stay, nice pool and clean facilities. The gentleman on reception kindly secured us a room without people staying above us as I had seen in the reviews noise can be a real issue in the hotel. The corridors were extremely loud at night, people loudly coming back from the bar. We were woken a few times. We couldn't get dinner at the hotel. We were advised dinner was being served all afternoon until 8.30pm but when we returned to eat, we were told they couldn't take our order until 6pm. My son was hungry at 5pm so we ordered a takeaway and had it delivered to the hotel from a local place. The breakfast at the hotel was OK. Parking was excellent.

Very disappointed

The Wiltshire hasn't gone downhill in the last two years, it's fallen off a cliff. It's always been in need of modernisation, but this stay it felt dilapidated. Holes in carpets, creaking floors, clunky doors and missing paint/wallpaper. But the main problem was the service. The staff were friendly, but the hotel is clearly not being run by professionals who know how to run a hotel. I called up a week before to ensure we had cots in the rooms for our baby and toddler, but they weren't in the rooms when we arrived. It was late so I asked if we could have them ASAP. 15 minutes later and when I went down to check, the staff that I'd asked were just chatting in reception. Breakfast was a joke! No bread, no coffee, no tea, just kids breakfast cereal boxes. We had to order the food specifically... And they didn't even get the order correct. When we wanted to take our kids to the pool (which was the main reason we stayed there) they told us children weren't allowed until 10am (it was 9am). We dug our heels in and eventually we were allowed in. The pool is big, and there was only 1 other person in the pool, who seemed perfectly happy letting a family enjoy the pool.
We won't be staying again.

Misleading advertising. It will ruin your stay

Not as advertised. Booked this place for roughly £96 per night because it said their junior suite contained a king size bed and a double. The hotel was adamant they don't have such a room and put a camp bed into our room. Completely unacceptable given we are a family of 3.

The hotel had stained carpets, pool table, broken showers and taps, broken hair dryer and radiators. We had to ask that our radiator be replaced with a working one.

The general manager just used his key to walk into my room first thing. I had just showered.

Breakfast was disappointing. Portions were small and there was not enough staff. Dirty high chairs that even after asking to have them cleaned contained baked beans in the tray and seat. Had to clean it myself.

Steam room was out of order, sauna never turned on.

No information on the hotel in the room.

There was someone hoovering another room at 10 pm and the constant sound beeping when the door was not closed until 4 am which woke our child multiple times.
