A hidden gem in Quito
Hi highly recommend this hidden gem of a hotel near Old Town Quito. Mario and Blanco were fantastic hosts from helping us during our very late arrivals, to a wonderful breakfast each morning, helping us with suggestions on where to go in Old Town, making our dinner reservation & transport to the airport. All were perfect!

He really went out of his way to ensure that our every question was answered, and every need met. He helped arrange airport transportation both ways and even helped deliver some paintings that we acquired in Quito but were not taking with us right away. He stays up late awaiting the taxi driver when he knows you are coming in, and he always beats you to the front door to unlock it and usher you in or out. Just an all-around incredible proprietor and gracious host.
The building itself is a refurbished house in Quito’s Old Town, with all of the charm that that entails. The rooms are situated around a central, covered courtyard that fills the space with light. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and modern (the bathroom in particular!)
Breakfast was always freshly prepared and delicious. After several big dinners, we typically had to eat rather light in the mornings but Mario and/or Blanca were always kind enough to send coffee up to our room when this was the case.
I’d give them 10/10 and would happily return to Casa El Eden in a future visit to Quito.

Our stay was great! The couple running the hotel is amazing! They had breakfast ready for us a little earlier, they were always smiling in the mornings, and welcomed us back each night. We stayed three nights and would definitely stay again. They gave us restaurant recommendations due to many being closed for the holiday. He also scheduled a car early in the morning to the airport for us.

Loved loved loved Casa El Eden! The owners Mario and Blanca made us feel at home from the minute we arrived until it was time for us to leave for the airport. Mario gave us some great suggestions for a restaurant and museum that ended up being true highlights for our time in Quito. Breakfast was delicious (amazing local fruit, our own carafes of coffee and hot chocolate, fresh eggs, and more!--> leagues better than the breakfast we had at a 4 star hotel in San Cristobal!), and we felt so well taken care of. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the hotel had a really boutique-y, curated/artsy vibe. Thank you, Mario and Blanca, for a truly wonderful experience.

When you enter Casa el Eden, you truly feel like you’re coming home. The welcome from Mario was wonderful and we received the same care and attention to detail throughout our stay from every colleague we met. Mario and Blanca especially were always eager to ensure that we had everything we needed for a great stay. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was big and comfortable, the towels fluffy, the shower pressure perfect. Breakfast was eggs cooked to order with cereal and various local fruits - exactly what you need. We booked Casa El Eden for one week while visiting Quito to do some climbing on Cotopaxi and Cayambe. We took advantage of utilizing the driver recommended for pickup at the airport. I highly recommend this service. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by Mario, the owner. I can't say that I have ever met a more gracious host. This man and his wife, Blanca, made our stay at Casa El Eden feel like we were part of their own family. The building itself was remarkable as we were told of the dilapidated state of this hundred year old structure when Mario and Blanca bought it, to its current magnificent restoration. Daily we would sit for breakfast at a communal table and devour one of the healthiest and best tasting breakfasts. At breakfast Mario would inquire about our days activities and make suggestions on transportation, shopping and dining. We used his car service several times which proved to be extremely efficient and cost effective. Upon returning each day either Mario or his assistant Daniel would greet us and ask how our day had been. These inquiries were sincere as everyone at Casa El Eden was interested in us having an excellet vacation in Ecuador. On Christmas Eve we were invited to dine with Mario and Blanca along with there son and daughter in-law. It was an amazing dinner spent with people I truly miss. If you stay in Quito and want a great experience I highly recommend Casa El Eden.

Spacious, high-ceiling rooms, comfortable beds. The Hacienda has lots of colonial charm with a covered central courtyard and cozy alcove lounge areas. Mario and Blanca are incredible hosts! They made us feel like Casa El Eden was our home. They provided dining suggestions, called us taxis, and generally made our stay delightful. Delicious breakfast is served (fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, excellent coffee, rolls and eggs). I stayed here with a friend but I would also highly recommend it for solo travelers.

This hotel is a very special place. Mario and Blanca are the epitome of generosity. They do not miss an opportunity to make you happy. They consistently amazed us. For example, they were able to get a concierge Covid test for us on a Saturday (when the service was closed) because they didn’t want us to have to find one. Blanca also helped me at the pharmacy to make sure I got the right medication. They will leave you impressed and so happy.

We arrived in Quito 8 hours late and without our baggage and Mario and Blanca could not have been a better welcome. We were supposed to stay at a different hotel at the end of our trip, but switched it to Casa El Eden after our stay.

We had an extra night in Quito prior to a recent Galapagos cruise and wanted a unique experience. Casa el Eden was charming and majestic! The proprietors Mario and Blanca made us feel like family. Mario personally accompanied us to a recommended restaurant for dinner to assure that we knew the way. We had a very early start for a tour in the morning and they prepared a lovely breakfast including the most delicious fruits and bread before the usual start time.
The rooms are gorgeous and spacious with modern amenities. The property had been completely renovated and the result was phenomenal. We hope to return to Ecuador in the future and would love to stay again

You Really Do Feel Like You’re At Home
Mario and Blanca were amazing! They made you feel like you are part of your family from the time you arrive until you check out. They even offered to give us back a night for free when we were in danger of missing our flight to Quito because of a connecting flight.
The hotel itself is incredibly clean and is a gorgeous home. The bed was very comfortable and also had a good shower with a massive sized room. They make you breakfast in the morning and will make sure you get to any of your activities on time and safely. Casa El Eden was wonderful. Located in the Old City, when you enter the seemingly simple building, it opens up to a gorgeous interior. The rooms are lovely, with extreme care in every aspect of it. Comfortable beds, linens etc. And best was the care given us by Mario and Blanca from making sure we arrived back each night, checking whether museums were truly open, ensuring the Uber arrived and even making a breakfast for us at at 5 in the morning before departure. Just the best.

It was located right in the heart of the old, historic section of Quito. The owner and our host for our 3 day stay, Mario, was kind, generous, knowledgable and very attentive. The late 19th century building has been lovingly restored. Our room was clean and comfortable with an extremely comfortable bed. The included breakfast was very generous and delicious.

After staying there, I realized why it has been rated so high consistently . It is because of the genuine hospitality provided by the owners. The exterior of the house is unassuming, and you may even encounter a couple trans. street walkers around the corner, but the interior is superb! I had a spacious restored colonial bedroom with a huge bathroom coming with an iron claw bath tub and a huge walking in shower! And it is 4 blocks walk to the main square.

Casa El Edén is like your home in Quito's historical center. Mario and Blanca are wonderful hosts, and the house is beautiful. We had a lovely, comfortable and large room. Breakfast was gorgeous, and Mario was very helpful and personable. The location in the Historical Center makes it very practical for all the sites there, while being a short taxi away from the restaurants and nightlife of Mariscal. There was some prostitution on the street outside the hotel, which never made us feel unsafe, but may make you uncomfortable. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

The building is gorgeous with outstanding woodwork, great attention to detail and some wonderful custom spaces. I cannot say enough about this place. The breakfast is fantastic and set up wonderfully. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need, soap, shampoo etc. Mario and Blanca go so far above and beyond for their customers that they break the rating scale. They are friendly and welcoming on your arrival. They attend to every need you may have. They are genuinely concerned for your welfare, your needs and wants and your stay. They got us a cab for a trip, told them where to take us, arranged one for the airport when we left and then waved us off like we were family. I cannot say enough about his place and the hosts and staff. This place breaks the rating systems it is that good. PERFECT still doesn't do it justice.

Our stay here was amazing! The hotel is conveniently located in the historic district so you can easily walk to cathedrals and historic squares. The property is beautiful, breakfast is delicious and best of all are the hosts. The amount of care and attentiveness shown by Mario and Blanca was incredible-they really did make our stay seamless. They happily helped with directions, reservations, drivers (not just call us a cab, but wait for the car to show up and make sure the driver had proper instructions) and even walked with us to show us where the ATM was. Our room was huge, well appointed and comfortable. If you like boutique style hotels and appreciate good service you will love this place!

Small Town Hospitality in the Big City
What a lovely place to end our stay in Ecuador! Having been in a small town for 4 weeks, Quito kind of hit us like the proverbial brick but Mario and Blanca quickly changed that. Their warmth and hospitality was very much welcomed by 2 weary travelers. Cerveza on the rooftop terrace was a real treat. The house is beautiful, our room was lovely, and the shower delightful. Breakfast was exactly what we needed to get our long day started. We left our bags while we toured the city. Casa El Edén is wonderfully situated for access to the On-and-Off bus, Plaza del Teatro (great people watching), and Plaza Grande, all of which we took advantage of. Arriving back at about 7:30 PM our wonderful hosts graciously arranged for transportation to the airport for our 1AM flight. We would love to return!

What a wonderful experience we had! Our hosts, Mario and Blanco, made us feel right at home in their beautifully renovated boutique hotel. Centrally located in Old Town, we could walk to most places we wanted to visit.

Great hotel giving a family feeling
I had spent 6 nights in the hotel. The owner was a very warm family, trying to satisfy all our needs. In the breakfast, we are sitting with other travelers, who shared their experience with us. I got good tips from them and improved our schedule. It is a boutique hotel with a youth hostel culture. Really love it!

Lovely hotel in gorgeous setting
Casa Mojanda is a lovely, serene, boutique hotel nestled in the Andean foothills, about 6 km from Otavalo. There is a lot to love about this place: delightful owners, gorgeous views, three adorable dogs, great hiking in the surrounding area, and excellent food. We stayed four nights and would have been happy staying for a week or two. We walked down to Otavalo a few times on a scenic dirt path (highly recommend Cafe Cosecha on the Plaza de Ponchos), hiked around the Laguna Cuycocha (fabulous, somewhat strenuous 4-5 hour hike about a 1/2 hour from Casa Mojanda), and booked a guided birding tour around Lagos Mojanda and Lago San Pablo that also took in the Parque del Condor. The birding here can't hold a candle to Mindo, but we still saw a lot of beautiful birds, including the Andean Guan, Scarlet-bellied mountain tanager and Sword-billed hummingbird. Ana Maria is a wonderful manager and makes all the guests feel right at home. We can't wait to return.

Quito positively buzzes with life, but when you step through the door at Casa El Eden, the chaos just melts away. The house is beautifully restored and everything was immaculately clean from the beautiful shower to the ever-so-comfy bed. The owners are warm and friendly. Offering suggestions about sights to see and good places to eat and leading us through the directions for getting there, Mario acted as a concierge- phoning ahead to restaurants and calling taxis and other transportation. Blanqui once walked us to a nearby restaurant spur of the moment when we were confused about its location. So much service, but not overly intrusive at all. We were usually quite tired upon returning to the hotel and were never taxed by extended conversation at unwanted times.
Emailing ahead of our flight about a trip to the Otavalo market, we were set up with a brilliant Ecuadorian guide, Carlos. Carlos is very fluent in English, really knowledgeable about all aspects of Ecuador, and an amazing spirit. We took four day trips with Carlos, including an amazing trek up Cotapaxi volcano, and I was able to successfully climb to 16,000 ft with his guidance. I would have never thought it possible and was extremely moved. Try to get his services.

If possible my daughter and I would give Mario and Blanqui more than 5 stars for all aspects of our stay at Casa El Eden! The building has been beautifully restored and the rooms are large, luxurious, light and comfortable. Mario and Blanqui make every effort to ensure their guests are made welcome and as they live in the hotel they are always on hand to offer help and advice about what to do and where to go or even to boil a kettle so we could make a cup of tea! The hotel is in the Old Town and is close to the Grand Plaza and within walking distance of many historic churches and attractions. Mario recommended a brilliant guide, Christian Palomeque, who spoke excellent English and who tailor-made a private day tour for us to include all the places we wanted to see - the smaller and less commercialised Equator exhibition at Quitsato, the biscuit making town, the leather goods town, Otovalo market and the crater lake - a fabulous experience!

We only spent one night but we felt part of the family right away. They were super nice and helpful! Breakfast was so good, Mario made my eggs into a big smiley face! Fresh squeezed orange juice was a hit. All in all a very pleasant stay but too short!
