Lovely boutique hotel close to a street full of restaurants and the old city. It is a little challenging for taxis to collect directly at the hotel, but this is because of narrow busy streets and to be expected in this part of town. Just something to be aware of, but a good trade-off to be able to stay in this area. Great breakfast, helpful staff, and our room was maintained beautifully. No complaints.

Great one night stay at casa alquima. We’re just stopping over before our land tour. We had booked the family room which had 3 beds and was easiest the biggest room in the hacienda. Checkin/checkout was smooth and the breakfast was exceptional. Also walking distance to all the major attractions. Also felt safe due to the fob security. Highly recommended.

Corner room was much nicer with 3 big windows facing the church square. Hot water worked fine this time. Ask for room #4, avoid #5 as hot water wasn't working and it is pretty dark.

Location was super convenient to the Historical Center and La Ronda Street restaurants. Inside the hotel was like being in a museum and I believe they are opening a museum in 2026 with all the artifacts srounds the hotel. Breakfast was awesome every morning. Front desk extremely helpful.

I give Hotel Casa Alquimia 5☆ because there are no more stars to add. I absolutely loved my stay there with my family. Andre was very responsive and accommodating and all of the staff was extremely nice and helpful.
I really appreciated the hotel's added service of being picked up and dropped off at the airport for a reasonable price. Additionally, I waited last minute to book a tour so there were no available tours for the days I wanted, but I didn't know that the hotel also offered a variety of tours that luckily I was able to book very quickly with the help of management. I was very grateful for our tour guide Yoel, and driver Manuel who were very professional, knowledgeable and fun to be around. They took us to \"Baños\" were my family and I enjoyed several activities all strategically put together to get the best nature experience I could asked for. My kids completely loved this adventure Yoel prepared for us, the restaurant he suggested and the patience to answer all our questions about the country.
Finally, the hotel is so beautiful and conveniently located. Everything inside the hotel looks cozy, nicely decorated and well-preserved, keeping its original style intact.

This hotel is nothing short of excellent. It was very affordable. Our room was huge and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The whole hotel was beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly and so helpful with everything. We were not far from restaurants, shopping and a mini mart. I’d come back to Quito just to stay here.

This is a very lovely ecuadorian style hotel, with very friendly staff. It has marvelous decorations all over, the beds are comfortable, the showers are hot. It does not have elevators, but the staff happily carried our bags to the third floor, where our room overlooked a plaza. The breakfast was made to order with a marvelous bowl of fresh fruit. It is right in the heart of the old city and was quite safe to walk at night. It was so nice to stay in a hotel that was different from the cookie cutter american type of hotel.

We had a great stay at Hotel Casa Alquimia. The staff was fantastic. The hotel itself was historic and decorated artfully. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hotel is well located in the historic center of Quito. All the main squares, churches and museums were within easy walking distance. It was easy to get a cab or the Metro to go further. The street out front was lively (and quite noisy) during the day. We would definitely, happily, stay there again.

Everything was great from start to finish. The room was well equipped, the beds were firm but comfortable. The pillows were probably some of the best I've ever had at a hotel. The breakfast was fabulous! Eggs made to order, fresh fruit, fruit juice, hot chocolate, coffee, bread with butter and cheese. Very good and filling. All of the staff were awesome and a special thanks to Andres (I apologize if I've misspelled his name), who gave us great tips on how to see the attractions we were interested in.

The hotel is well located in the old city. Despite a language barrier at times the staff were helpful and responsive. I ordered a taxi from the airport with the hotel but it did not come, not that it was a problem as plenty of taxis were available. The breakfast was very good. Room 9 has a window above the door and light streamed in whenever the sensor lights outside came on. This impacted on sleep quality. On balance we would stay there again.

This property has character! Not one of your generic type place. Location was excellent for visiting all historic places. Place was clean although old style. I felt safe walking around (after getting advice on areas) by myself as a single woman. The free breakfast was like B B, very homely. Views from terrace are great. Only complaint is that water could be hotter in bathroom sink and shower. It was doable but would have preferred hotter.

I highly recommend the tour to Antisana if you like nature away from the crowds.
The only negatives were the uncomfortable pillows and the occasional sewer gas from the bathroom (only 1 evening and you can keep the bathroom door shut).

I highly recommend the tour to Antisana if you like nature away from the crowds.
The only negatives were the uncomfortable pillows and the occasional sewer gas from the bathroom (only 1 evening and you can keep the bathroom door shut).

We stayed here for one night upon arrival in Quito. The gentleman working the night we arrived was extremely kind and helpful, going the extra distance to show my husband where to park and walking back with him to make sure he was safe. The hotel was lovely and our room was spacious. Breakfast was delicious and the location was great. We highly recommend this hotel for exploring Quito!

This is a quaint family run hotel with a history that dates back to the 15th century. What it lacks in amenities (no in-room fridge, microwave, or coffee maker) it makes up for in charm, hospitality, and comfort. There’s a mini-market across the street, several local restaurants in the area, and you can walk to the Basilica, Grand Plaza, and Metro within 10-15 minutes - but the elevation in Quito did have me breathing heavy, so prepare for that. As a single woman, it felt a bit sketchy after dark (not many people on the street in front of hotel and some homeless asking for money), but overall, I enjoyed the stay. I was very appreciative of the staff meeting me at the door, and ensuring I was safe while waiting for my late night uber to the airport. Breakfast was also excellent.

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel, thanks to its spacious rooms and comfortable amenities. The breakfast was decent, offering a good start to the day.
The hotel's location was a major perk, within walking distance to top restaurants, attractions and tourist sites. The staff were friendly, helpful and always willing to assist.
My only issue was a temporary water supply problem in the shower one evening, likely due to the hotel's historic architecture. However, this minor hiccup didn't detract from my overall experience.

We arrived during a particularly busy city festival. This made finding the hotel and parking quite challenging but not any fault of the hotel or staff. The hotel itself is gorgeous. All the antiques around the hotel felt like you were staying in a museum. The center courtyard was beautiful with so many plants. It was a great first introduction to Ecuador for us!

We had a bad experience and we didn’t get a refund for the nights we didn’t stay. The beds were dirty and I told the front desk guy and he came to change it but was very rude about it. It was very noisy throughout the night in the hotel we couldn’t sleep, the shower had standing water in it and the floor creeks when you walk so with all that in consideration we decided to let them know that we were leaving. They were not happy and said that they can change the room but I didn’t think that would help. The surroundings around the hotel didn’t feel safe, so with all mentioned we decided to leave and the didn’t want to refund the nights we didn’t stay. I think it’s unfair because if you go on vacation you should feel comfortable and safe where you’re at. I immediately messaged Expedia but the didn’t help .

I really enjoyed my stay here for over a week. Andre, who was really helpful helped me with local information and arranging me to pay by credit card regarding a couple of day tours. shervanna (if I've spelt her name correctly) was also very helpful. Spacious rooms in the town center
This was a lovely spot in a fabulous location in the Old Town. Unfortunately it was the Light Festival where every surrounding street shuts down and thousands of people swarm the streets. I wish they had given us notice about this since! Our 2nd room had no window which wasn’t great and there was no fan or AC so it was a little stuffy. Incredible old building, large rooms and bathroom, amazing views from the roof and our balcony though.

The hotel is very central - although didn't really go out much every after my tours for security reasons. The property is very much secured - although it was a challenge getting in, I was lucky a lady showed me where the door bell is. If there are loud guests, unfortunately you will them from your room. I love the breakfast! Although they don't really change towels even if you leave them in the floor. Mind the shower floor as it can get really slippery.

However, it’s dangerous in the surrounding area at night snd when we arrived they ushered us to our room without giving us any towels, water or any food option. Hotel Casa Alquimia was perfect for our stay. A typical South American style hotel at a great price. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, and the view on the rooftop is a bonus. The only thing to note is the traffic outside can sometimes be a bit noisy, but overall it was not too bothersome. (Maybe bring some earplugs to sleep with if you are more sensative to outside noises) The location in the old town is great with many attractions within walking distance. The hotel helped us organize an airport transfer very early in the morning which was greatly appreciated. The staff is welcoming and helped to make our stay quite pleasant and if you did not book any tours, they offer help with that too!
