The Casa Gangotena was perfection! The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff was gracious and attentive. We stayed in a very comfortable, large room with a spectacular view of the Plaza de San Francisco. We enjoyed breakfast and a wonderful dinner at the hotel and loved that the menu included local cuisine. Plus, the prices were reasonable - we would have easily paid twice as much at home for a meal of the same caliber. You also shouldn't miss a late afternoon cocktail on the rooftop!

Wonderful historic property that has been updated and has both warmth and style. The staff pampered my family and introduced us to Ecuadorian new year traditions on the rooftop terrace with the other guests that was a memorable and unexpected way to ring in the new year. The restaurant is a fabulous showcase of Ecuadorian cuisine and excellent cocktails and fine wine. First class in every respect. I recommend without reservation.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel in the heart of downtown Quito. The staff was incredibly accommodating and made the entire experience elegant. It is on the Plaza San Francisco and is next to a beautiful cathedral. Just take into account extra time to get into and out of the area by car as the streets are very narrow and usually congested. Loved the property and would definitely come back. The best and most beautiful hotel in Quito!

Everything about our stay was wonderful! Casa Gangotena used to be a mansion and it is beautiful! The service was top notch. Everyone from valet to front desk to the restaurant was sooo nice and helpful. The food at the restaurant we good as well. I know it’s on the pricier side compared to other hotels but if you are looking for a beautiful place to stay with great service look no further.

A lovely, historic hotel, with great food and exceptional customer service. My husband suffered from altitude sickness during our stay in Quito, which forced us to eat every meal at the hotel. The food was varied, high quality and at a reasonable price. My husband required medical care and oxygen treatments all at no cost. The staff was very friendly and responsive to all requests. I am not sure my husband would have received the care he did at another Quito hotel. Five stars all around! Highly recommend with a great location in old town close to everything.

Staff was friendly and willing to please us,they made us feel like home, the property needs an overhaul, furniture, room´s carpet and tv is dated. Restaurant staff is awsome but the food was 7/10 at best. Roof bar/cafe was loud because the hotel allowed a bachelorette party to take place over there. For the price I expected more to be honest.

One hiccup--I had spent a lot of time browsing the different kinds of rooms at the hotel. Some have murals, some have plaza views, some have balconies. I was obsessed with the murals and splurged on the Junior Suite, which was also one of the largest in terms of square footage. However, when we arrived we were told that we were \"upgraded\" to a Plaza View room. Besides the view, the room didn't feel like much of an upgrade at all. It was just a room, and a pretty small one at that. When I said I'd rather forego the upgrade for the Junior Suite that I booked, the truth came out. There was an issue with the toilet in the Junior Suite. On the website, the Plaza View and the Junior Suite are advertised at the same price point. So it was not an upgrade--just a lateral switch. I understand the instinct to give me a positive spin, but then you really have to deliver a wow factor. Even if though it was a fair trade, in the moment it left me with a \"womp womp\" feeling of disappointment. I think I would've preferred the truth . . . or an actual upgrade.

Excellent hotel in middle of old town
We stayed at this beautiful property for two nights. It is beautiful property in very centre of old town. Though it gets very quite in night in old town. Hotel is beautiful, food is great. We had wonderful experience and staff was exceptional except one staff Christian. He was extremely rude during our dinner which made us wonder if we should leave restaurant. We brought it to management's attention.
Other comment for management: It seems they are very focussed on having best score on feedback survey- is it because hotel wants to stay on top 30 hotels in world on tripadvisor rating?
