The staff at this hotel were absolutely delightful without exception. A special thank you to the lovely man with the coloured waistcoat who seemed to work constantly and was always there to make sure that everyone was being looked after.

The public toilets in reception were always spotless and warm.

Unfortunately, the hotel exterior was quite possibly the most off-putting of any hotel I have ever stayed at. The multiple letters missing from the name of the hotel made it look like it was closed. Someone had misguidedly planted fake flowers everywhere which looked guady and unappealing.

The room and bathroom were spotless and the linen clean. Our initial room was spacious but had no electricity from any of the plug sockets. We were swiftly moved to the room below which was more cramped but did have power!

I thought the food was very good. It is unusual to be able to order healthy food like steamed fish and vegetables in a hotel such as this. A healthy option on the kids menu such as tomato pasta would also be welcome.

The pool was nice but its surroundings very run down indeed. The ladies changing rooms need a total make over with new showers and lockers that actually work!

Thank you to the staff for making everywhere so clean and hospitable despite the difficult surroundings. You made our stay enjoyable!

The location is wonderful but this is a very old hotel. No elevators or porters so if you hace big bags and you are on a high floor then get ready to do come lifting. The staff are great and the food is good but limited in it's variety. The rooms are old and the bathrooms are basic and hot water is a 50/50. We had a family room which was a double and 2 singles but one bathroom so after the second person showered the last 2 had cold showers.

Sub zero daytime and overnight temperatures during our 2 night stay. One radiator to heat fairly large room. No heating in bathroom. Thankfully I had brought a plug in ceramic heater which helped bring room up to a decent temperature. However, when I wanted a shower
last night, the water wasnt even lukewarm. On checking out, it seemed that the hotel was aware of the heating and no hot water issue and the reason it wasnt fixed was because their maintenance team dont work at weekends!!!! We would have to call the hotel prior to booking with them again to ensure that there are no heating issues.

The hotel was like walking int the past, to get the television to work I had to rest the ariel box thing on top of my suitcase or we would just get static. The bathroom was clean at least the room was ok. There is no soundproofing so you can hear everything, the staff was loud at 7am talking outside of our window. After walking up Ben Nevis I thought we might be able to sleep but the beds are that uncomfortable it was impossible, I would have had better luck on a park bench.

I was disappointed in this hotel.

The only area that looked impressive was the pool area, although I never used the facilities as I had other plans.

I was disappointed in the hotel room because there was a drip noise at the window and I could not get to sleep. Damp on carpeted floor. Shower did not come on so I ran a bath. Bed seemed clean and cup and teabags was helpful. But it did not meet up to my standards and I was not impressed with the impression it gave. Guests also woke me up at 1am due to disruptive noise levels including doors closing loudly and voices and I had to complain. Finally, I asked for water staff said I had to use tap water from bathroom but I felt they could have brought water to my room.

Reception staff were all lovely and welcoming! And sports bar food seemed lovely.

Arriving to the hotel and not having warm water in the shower is a disgrace! We have read the reviews before arrival about this issue and couldnt believe it..its actually true! Very weak wifi. A lot of noise from room above. Our room was very far from the reception we had to go through 7 doors to get to it! The hotel restaurant was very good and the room had a very nice view.

First night waiter gave us food for another table not just us but other tables were getting wrong food for different tables both night. Someone commented it was like faulty towers. Morning breakfast was cold l was told to dig deep and l may find warmer food did not try cook breakfast the following day as was put off by first experience. Room light flickered on an off so could only use lamp. Carpet was thread bare. Cold shower not sure if this was because l was showering before 7am hot water may take time to come through pipe work. Whole experience was terrible. Please check out room 309. When leaving was not asked by staff if l enjoyed my stay. Possibly worse experience l have had in the last 37years TERRIBLE. Only positive is location very handy for Ben Nevis climb. I apologise as have never done bad review before.

The bed was very comfortable and after a long day of walking is a great place to stay for a good night's sleep. Whilst the exterior is in need of some renovations, the interior is clearly in this process with many of the spaces being updated. My room was clean, comfortable and very quiet for a good night of rest. All in all I had a great stay here with very friendly staff and a lovely bar/ lobby area to relax.

It’s a dump, can’t believe we paid over £300 for it. Dirty and old- in serious need of repairs and updating. Bedroom had wallpaper on the roof that looked like it was covering a surface of mould. Other comments above. If we’d paid £50 a night- maybe I’d have let this go- but it’s unjust that they’re charging that and selling themselves as if they’re a decent hotel. It’s falling apart and they should either close and improve it or knock their prices down and sell it with a honest representation of what they are.

Tired hotel in need of a lot of TLC

The building is pretty run down, it could be made nice with lots of tlc, but it is obvious the owning group have little interest in maintenance, a pity as it is in a good position.
The food menu was pretty basic, but what there was was well presented, hats off to the staff. Internet was virtually non existent. There is quite a good local bus service into town, and a good choice of local taxis.

I stupidly thought that paying what I did for my two nights I would have a really comfortable bed. Everything is stained, walls carpets and the ceilings. Wall paper is hanging off in the dining room. There’s no restaurant available just bar meals (they were ok to be fair if you want chips with everything) the swimming pool was good but the sauna although useable is in a poor state of repair.
I would not stay here again even for half price!!

Very expensive for what it is but that's Highland Scotland at this time of year. The hotel looks dated from outside and the public areas and bedrooms are the same. Interaction with staff was limited as I only checked in and checked out but on the one occasion I did request a little help it was not really forthcoming.
The interior is gloomy and needs fresh air.
Some rooms back onto a busy road and there's traffic noise throughout the day and night.
I didn't eat at the hotel so can't speak for the food offering.
Parking is free and plentiful.

Hotel is tired & needs refurbished, our room 514 only had warm water so we couldn’t get a shower, we informed reception and we were told that another guest had also reported this and maintenance had been informed, the next day there was still no hot water so we had to use the swimming pool showers. On check out we informed reception again about not having any hot water and all they said was sorry & they would look into it. On a positive note, the food at the bar in the evening was excellent, great portion sizes & very tasty, although food could be a little hotter.

Great location for area. Rather shabby, unloved areas such as lounge which is a walk through and dark. Boilers broke Sunday so no hot water for washing sunday or Monday morning. Dining area needs work. Tables shabby and cutlery poor. No drinks service for evening meal. Have to get drinks yourself from bar and bring into dining area, despite tables all dressed with wine glasses. Geared up more for coaches rather than individuals. Bar had much better menu in evening and food was good in bar. Overall disappointing.

This hotel needs some TLC. The location is good and it’s great that it has a pool + gym and sauna, but the hotel condition is shabby in places, it could do with a good deep clean and repainting. The exterior is a terrible shame especially and quite a shock when you arrive as it looks almost abandoned with peeling paint and dilapidated signage.
We had no hot water for the three days there and the changing rooms in the health centre are an area in need of attention, so it wasn’t easy to feel comfortable and relaxed, especially after a hike.
The saving grace for the hotel is the staff, they were all cheerful, chatty and polite, trying to deal with problems and complaints with patience.

Room radiator was set on full (too hot), thermostat had been removed preventing it from being turned down.

Room faced overgrown disused railway sidings and any side glance toward a Mountain View was obscured by trees.

Food, however, was exceptionally good.

I arrived with my father and was sent to my room 305 and 311 and the room was very ciold! I went to reception, an told her but she said the heating went down. So i went back to my cold room, and found the tv didnt work! There was no phone, so i went back and she said sorry. Are there no checks when someone book? I went to call the reception as there was no internet! There was no phone!!!

It’s not the ritz but I paid £180 for two people for two nights included in that we got four breakfasts that were very good and lots to choose from not just continental fully cooked . We also got full use of a decent size heated pool ,jacuzzi, steam room and sauna with clean towels supplied. The hotel also has a nice bar and serves good food . The room was clean and warm with a very good large comfortable bed . I read the other reviews after making the booking and got a wee shock and I have to be honest yes the hotel dose need an update and decoration but don’t let the other reviews put you off personally we got a lot for our money compared to others . All the staff greeted us with politeness and were very helpful from reception to bar and pool thanks guys we would definitely go back .

First room was stinking of sewage. We got moved to a second room which had no hot water, freezing through the night with no heating coming on, the electrics were dangerous, shower was over flowing due to blocked waste pipes and the tv didn't work. got a different room without heating, no hot water.

This hotel should be shut and totally refurbished as its in an poor state,the photos on web site have been CGI as in reality its nothing like the hotel. Every one is spoke to had a problems staying at the hotel and one couple i spoke to at breakfast had their celling fall in on them in the night and they had been in 4 different rooms over the week. Simply either totally refurbish or demolish and rebuild as the location is great. I will never stay at this group of hotels again.
