Wonderful experience during our three day stay. Staff was extremely personable and helpful. We loved our room. There were some cobwebs in our windows but overall very clean and well maintained. My only suggestions are that they lower the temperature in the dining room (especially if you're working through a five course menu and a bottle of wine in a suit jacket); revamp the reception area (looks a tad bit like a gift shop and not the entrance to a grand house); and have (suitable)background music in the lounge areas/ dining room when pianist isn't present. (Everyone seemed to be talking in self-conscious whispers at breakfast and while sitting in common areas because it was so quiet.)

Nice place, stuffy and pretentious environment.

I was disappointed with the overall stay here. The atmosphere with stuffy and pretentious, and at times, we felt unwelcome and as though we didn't fit in. There was a particular staff member (I won't name him) that basically scolded me for a discrepancy on a taxi request. The facility itself was phenomenal. The food overpriced, and not worth it (45 pounds per person at Factors Inn for what was basically a few bits of salmon). The breakfast (included), great–no complaints there. The room we had, which was nearly $900 a night, had a fly problem that stemmed from within the room (not midges, which are well known there–these were house flies). We were dismissed when bringing this to their attention, and told that it was because the doors were left open (they weren't). The issue was never resolved. The towels seemed like they were not changed daily, though I won't get into detail on how we discovered this.

We will not stay here again because of the pretentious and unwelcoming environment buy some (not all) staff members, but the facility itself was beautiful.

Very nice rooms and service was phenominal. It was warm westher wise and the heat was in in the comnon rooms and hallways. So it was very warm inside the castle and in our rooms, that was really my biggest complaint.

Impeccable stay at a heritage hotel

This short visit to Inverlochy Castle was beyond our expectations. We enjoyed every detail of the place. The decor, staff and service, food-everything was reflective of a rich heritage of the place and impeccable.

Our room overlooked the peaceful gardens, giving an unobstructed views of Ben Nevis, offering a rare stillness that allowed us to truly pause.

Spectacular stay. The castle is such a unique experience as a hotel and we loved every minute. The property is beautiful and the service was five star. The only negative was a giant beehive outside our room which prevented us from opening the window. A couple bees also made it inside our room but we were able to “guide” them back out with a small towel. Fortunately neither of us are allergic but my wife was not happy. However this didn’t ruin our stay and we would absolutely return and recommend to anyone. Definitely pricey but we found it worth it.

It was beautiful & quiet for nice walks around the property ;) we had to go to the inn fine the road to eat bc we didn’t want the fine dining option after a day of travel and wished they had a golf cart transport as it was a bit far when we walked for us older ladies :/ but the factor inn food was very good :) the staff at the castle were very helpful and delightful ; it was nice to have someone to carry our bags up the stairs !the breakfast was also exquisite!! Best if the trip !

While I can understand other comments about the state of the property, and it could use cleaning and updates in some areas, it really was a great place to stay. The staff were attentive, kind and went out of their way. We stayed in a walled garden room. It was beautiful and the bathroom was huge. All of the food we had was wonderful. Would love to stay again.

Exceptional Hotel Experience!

The castle is stunning and the people who work there are friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to accommodate our children's' food allergies. The room was luxurious and immaculately clean. The staff was very helpful prior to our arrival in helping us plan activities during our stay.

We had a memorable stay in Inverlochy Castle Hotel an experience which more than matched our expectations. Minor niggles were quickly resolved and in no way detracted from our enjoyment. We especially enjoyed walking in the grounds (November weather permitting) and the five course dinner in Seasgair was worth every penny, a fitting climax to our special occasion. Our suite was luxurious and retained the character of a well cared for former grand mansion. Staff were welcoming, obliging and engaging.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Room was wonderful common area too. We did have the Seasgair dinner and sadly was disappointed. My stomach did not react well at all. My husband seemed to have done fine. Portions are extremely small for each course. Flavors were not my profile desire. My husband liked half of what was given. Overall we decided it was not worth the price for the special dinner. Hotel stay though was worth it!

The main castle and grounds are nice and definitely recommended. We wanted to stay an additional night, almost two month before our date of visit, they could only offered us a room in their so called garden rooms outside of the castle and promised to the room is as nice. For nearly the same price the garden room was very basic and half size as our room in the castle itself. Very disingenuous! We reserved dining at their Michelin star restaurant, the service was excellent, but the food was averaged. There are much better restaurants around Fort William.

Our stay was great. John and his team were superb. Service impeccable and the hotel stunning. Only quibble - it is advertised as dog friendly but dogs are only allowed in the bedroom. Obviously they should not be allowed in the restaurant etc. however We thought having a dog in the lounge would not have been a major issue.

Such an amazing trip

I cannot speak more highly about this hotel! The warm welcome from Kaitlyn, she makes you feel like you have come home and she is a constant presence making sure you have everything you need.
Despite the cold outside the castle was lovely and warm, in both the rooms and the main lounge.
The food is absolutely outstanding, we tried everything, we tried breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner in both the lounge and seagair restaurant, it is a foodies paradise and always served with smile.
Everyone was so friendly which really makes you feel so relaxed. Can’t wait to go back.

Small touches make a difference

We stayed here one night as a part of a longer trip in Scotland. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The bed was super comfortable with high quality linens and the turn down service made it feel special.
The real highlight was the incredible shower. I might be less excited about this if I hadn’t been traveling for 4 weeks and found the showers so be without pressure and often only hot for 5 minutes. But I’m pretty sure it was only partly that.
The grounds are lovely and common rooms were comfortable.
Staff members were helpful when they were around, sometimes you had to search them out.

The Inverlochy Castle was wonderful. We didn't realize our room was not in the actual castle but in a different part of the grounds called the walled gardens. The price of the room was definitely not worth it. If you book a room make sure you are in the castle unless you want to pay a lot of money to be on the grounds of the castle. The breakfast was amazing!

Pros and cons. The hotel itself is outstanding, beatuful architecture, beautiful rooms and decor, beautiful setting. Breakfast was excellent and served in a lovely dining room

On the flipside, some items failed to live up to expectations. First one was small and if not for the other, would probably not make a note. Two very expensive whiskey sours were very disappointing. I am a craft cocktail make and the whiskey sour is an easy one. Just balance the smokiness and richness of the whiskey with the bite of the lemon. Ours had no whiskey flavour. I wondered if they even added whiskey. One of the other guests noted the same thing and approached my table to ask how I liked it.

The bigger disappointment was the formal restaurant. We are foodies and this was our fifth stop at a chosen dining spot on our three week tour of Scotland and the cost of dinner with the premium wine pairings were twice the other four, all og whom were better dining experiences. On the plus side the room and place settings were equisite, but they outshone the food by a wide margin. Most egregious was the cost of the premium wine pairings for nice, but not exceptional wines, and pourings which were on the light side. Given a typical pouring is a half a glass, these fell short if that. And at this price point, an apertif should have began and finished the dinner pre and post flight. I think we figured when added up, our one- third glasses of wine cane to something like 30 pounds each!

The property was indeed magnificant I was slightly dissapointed with the service. For the 5* hotel - dissapointing was that knowing about the trip being for our anniversary that wasn't at all acknowledged. I wasn't expecting a free dinner but 3* hotels can put a nice card or a chocolates when the guest has a birthday, I would expect something taking they were made aware.
Paths could have been better lit at night, you can actually break a leg trying to take a walk after dark.
Also, food was lovely but a dissapointment was that the only option for a dinner was their set menu.

Inverlochy Castle Hotel. Wow

What an incredible experience. I had some very specific requests before travelling. I wanted specific flowers to add to our room: They were provided, at cost, as requested. We wanted to add a very last minute extra night stay: provided and able to stay in the same suite. We wanted first class tickets for the sold out Jacobite train journey: These were provided. Can’t fault the pre-journey customer service. Once there, we were greeted as we drove in and everything was slick and smooth at check in. The suite in the castle was perfect- very spacious and clean. The facilities were great- a top notch restaurant and a billiards room. The food was incredible. The scenery was mind blowingly gorgeous We now want to book again and introduce more of the family to the joys of Inverlochy. If you want to explore the Highlands of Scotland there is no better base nor better or more knowledgeable staff.

Situated in a perfect location for exploring the Highlands of Scotland. The staff are all excellent and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food is delightful and the rooms are very comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Wow! We booked this last minute while driving through the country. Staying the night in a castle? I mean wow! That alone is amazing. The service here was top notch, never had anything like it. The grounds were stunning. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

A magical stay at Inverlochy Castle.

Words cannot describe our experience of sadly only 1 night at Inverlochy Castle. If it is within your means this is a magical place to stay. During our recent holiday driving through the highlands we spent one night at the castle on our way back down to Glasgow for our return flight home and without a doubt it was the highlight of our trip.

The castle itself is gorgeously decorated and it feels as if you've stepped back in time. Strolling through the grounds after dinner was magical. Long meandering pathways in the mist was dreamlike. We booked dinner reservations for 7:00 which meant meeting in the parlor for drinks and canapes at 7:00 and then being seated at 7:30. Every bit of the meal was expertly prepared and I'd estimate we had a minimum of 4, probably 5 different people attending to us during the dining experience. Water and wine glasses were never empty due to the attentive staff.

All in all one of the nicest places we've ever stayed at. Highly recommended.

This lovely place is beyond perfect! It is part of the R&C hotel group that offers only the very best. The grounds and interior decor are gorgeous, rooms are charming and spacious (we had the Queen Suite), the staff goes well beyond expectations to give excellent service, the restaurant serves gourmet food by renowned chefs, and I could go on and on. Afternoon tea is lovely. I just wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend—you won’t regret it!

The most wonderful experience, the staff was superb, the rooms and amenities exceptional. The grounds were fabulous, you could take a walk to the walled garden, the lake and even discover some beautiful graves overlooking the land with sheep. Truly I would recommend this hotel to anyone. My dinner was a bit to salty, but I usually don't eat a lot of salt.

Faded glory, a most disappointing two day stay, at £550 per night it’s an absolute rip off. For a supposedly 5 star hotel, no spa, no pool, inside or outside, no lift ( how do they deal with elderly or disabled guests ) &,believe it or not, no dry cleaning service.
It was impossible to open or close the sliding doors of our wardrobe & impossible to see the small print on the very low down located room safe which had the minimum of instructions & finally caused us to call for help.
We realise it’s a listed building, however there has been no attempt to modernise & the property is living in a time warp.
The staff try hard but there appears to be no training of mainly young people.
The wiring in the bedroom & lounges seem to be at fault, no grab rail in shower, sink plugs needed maintenance & it was extremely difficult to open the bedroom door.
There were many other faults which I could mention but in comparison with say, Chewton Glen near where we live or Rudding Park in Harrogate or Four Seasons in Hampshire this, despite al it’s awards is a poor excuse for a 5 star, luxurious hotel.

Fabulous hotel with outstanding service. My family and I stayed in the gate house rather than the actual castle because we needed two bedrooms. We had total privacy, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Yet we had total access to the grounds and castle. The staff came to fetch us for each meal, and we felt like they really rolled out the red carpet. We slept like we were in a blackout room because it was so quiet. We loved having our own kitchen with coffee and basic provisions. Highly recommend. Great restaurant too.
