The room and hallway outside of it smelled awful, some sort of mold combined with cleaning products. The room was dark and overly warm as well, even with the window open. The bed wasn't very comfortable.Staff was friendly though.

A Truly Wonderful Stay – Peaceful, Welcoming, and Delicious

My wife and I had an amazing experience staying at The Stronlossit Inn. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful – perfect for a relaxing getaway. Every member of the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious, with a great selection of dishes prepared to a high standard. One of the highlights for me was the incredible selection of whiskeys – a real treat to enjoy while unwinding in the evening.

We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, tranquility, and top-notch hospitality. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

We arrived and check in was quick and efficient. The room was really cold and very small, the radiator didn’t turn up. The TV in the room wasn’t set up the staff didn’t know how to do it. Luckily we did but you had to do it each time you turned it on. It was handy for Ben Nevis. Lovely views.

This place was a nice retreat from the city. The train station is a short walk and takes you into the city.
Our room was a nice size and very comfortable and clean. The food (dinner and breakfast) were both amazing. I would definitely stay here again!

This place is an insult to Scottish hospitality.

Ignore the suspiciously brief 10/10 ratings. There is no way anyone in their right might could go any higher than 4/10.

Virtually all the soft furnishings reek of stale sweat. The beds are torture to sleep in with cheap nasty lumpy mattresses and solid pillows.

Staffing the place is an absolute joke with 1 person covering bar and restaurant as the owners tout for business from the campsite across the road meaning residents food orders get delayed (we watched one couple get their mains before the starters).

Shambolic sums it up.

The bathrooms are dirty, the showers a joke and you’d best hope you don’t get 104 which is beneath the owners accommodation as you’ll be awake all night with them stomping around on the dilapidated floor above.

The other thing to avoid is the joke of a breakfast. Cheap nasty cereals left out to go stale, coffee that must be the third use of the grounds it’s so weak and a ‘Full Scottish Breakfast” that wasn’t — not even close — you get the idea (the Scottish Cheese Boards they charge you £11.50 for? Gouda, smoked German cheese, Brie and Stilton. Nothing Scottish at all.

We booked three nights but, despite being blown away by the beauty of the local area we had to cut short our trip and return home. Two nights of no sleep and neck and back pain caused by the nasty beds made a third night an absolute no.

We live in Scotland. There is better out there. Avoid this glorified B&B with sullen staff.

Beautiful scenery around area. No personality when booking in to hotel, no friendly welcome. Hotel understaffed
and we kept being told, we are very busy tonight. we had booked a table for dinner and people arrived who were not booked in, they were served dinner before us and we had to wait over an hour for fish and chips. the meal would probably have been ok if it had been served when cooked but had obviously been standing for ages before being served. Very disappointing.

Mold in shower. Lamps without lightbulbs or plugs- bare wires. Bartenders were not friendly and poor service. Server at breakfast not very personable either. There was one bright spot with a female employee who noticed we were sitting in the lounge area in the dark unable to find light switch for overhead light fixture and she happily turned it on for us. The 2 men we experienced were not welcoming at all.

We stayed here as a group and used it as a base for walking Ben Nevis which is about a 15 minute drive away- the rooms were spotless and the amenities were perfect for us. The food was very good and the staff were really nice and helpful

Generally I was delighted with our three night stayHowever , though the chef was ver y good, the dinner menu was the same for each night.
Secondly the hospitality was not refilled
Thirdly the shower one morning was a dribble
Finally one big problem was the creaking floorboards and footsteps above us which woke us and /or kept us awake

Solid for the highlands

The couple who run this hotel are very friendly and clearly work hard. The overall staffing level feels very light, the food was disappointing and the dining room lacks any atmosphere. Overall clean and comfortable. Certainly not the worst hotel around but do manage your expectations.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Inn. It's a very quiet place in a very quiet setting...just what we were looking for. The food in the restaurant was top-notch. The only reason for my four star rating instead of a 5 star rating was that the hotel was a bit on the pricey side. Still, I would stay there again if visiting Roybridge.

Regrettably we were not able to stay the night. Driving to the hotel that night, about 40 miles away, we had a tire go flat and we spent the night in our rental car on the side of the road until the next morning when we could hail a bus to get us back to Edinburgh. We called the hotel to alert them of our plight. The worker did give us a number for a cab driver, but they never picked up. The area is very rural and very limited when it comes to emergency services. It was an adventure!

Comfortable place to stay with a few minor issues. The room was clean and comfortable and the whole place was very quaint and had a cozy vibe. We only had a couple of issues; one being that there seemed to be very little staff. The bartender was also checking people into the hotel and occasionally serving in the restaurant. However, this did not cause us any trouble as we were not in a rush and the staff that was there was very friendly. We had one other issue when my husband plugged in the hair dryer that was provided in the room (we checked to make sure it was the correct voltage and the correct plugin- plus it was the one provided in the room) and it caused the power to go out in our room. The problem was easily resolved by flipping a breaker, but it was a little inconvenient. But overall, we would stay there again. The food in the restaurant attached to the hotel was delicious and we ate there both nights that we stayed.

It’s a 5 minimum walk to the Roy Bridge train station, we arrived via train so it was a great way to travel to Fort William, and then up to Mallaig.

We walked up to the Parallel Roads” of Glen Roy, a geological phenomenon. It’s a beautiful, quiet walk (1.2 hrs each way or a 10 minute drive each way) on a country Road littered with the sheep.

The Hotel is well maintained and the food is quite good. I missed having a coffee maker and mini fridge.

The serving staff were great, however the fellow who managed the front desk and bar could be more friendly towards the guests and staff.

Overall a wonderful stop during our Highland visit!

Staff at check in were friendly, the room wasn’t serviced in the three days we were there but then we realised this was probably COVID restrictions although this wasn’t explained at check in. Our room was enormous and well furnished with a view over the duck pond and surrounding countryside. The restaurant staff were over stretched with only one waitress at dinner and breakfast. We personally felt the dinner menu was overpriced for the type of food on offer. However if you want to travel, at Fort William there is a fab Indian overlooking the Loch and an amazing seafood restaurant overlooking Loch Leven

The Stronlossit Inn was in a quiet location with parking. The location is not far from Nevis Range which is why we booked the accomodation.
We had driven down from Skye and arrived later in the evening. The staff member who checked us in was really friendly and he held the kitchen open for us to order a late dinner which was greatly appreciated

In a lovely location, useful for all activities in the surrounding area if you have a car. If not there is a train station directly opposite. Lovely breakfasts and a good range of meals in the evening along with a well stocked bar with good real ales and whisky. Rooms are clean, comfortable and more than adequate if you are touring.

Ducktastic- Hotel not so much.

Room and hotel are very dated, with smell reminiscent of a care home. Staff were friendly enough with a decent breakfast in the morning. Best part of the stay was the duck ponds in the hotel gardens. Expensive for what it is however location near Glen Coe probably saves it, along with the ducks!! Would recommend old pines restaurant in spean bridge for dinner.

Great wee hotel.

The staff were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early to get dressed for a wedding being held locally. We had lunch in the hotel before the wedding. This was of a fine standard and was served promptly as we did not have a lot of time to spare. We were comfortable and the breakfast was fresh, tasty and well presented.

It was the most expensive hotel of the 4 we stayed in and as a comparison was over priced! over priced! over priced!

At check in prevuious guest had left with keys so a temporary set was issued.
With the price paid, we expected a better quality than a budget hotel. Dissapointingly this was not the case.

Fruit juice not replenished, served in unchilled, uncovered jugs as was the milk

On leaving I was presented with an invoice for the room which I'd already paid prior to arriving.
Staff really could do with hospitality training, a smile goes a long way!

Wonderful for Ft. William/Ben Nevis visitors!

We chose the Stronlossit because it offered an authentic Scottish Inn experience in a quiet rural area with easy access to Ft. William, Ben Nevis/Glen Nevis. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and wonderful hospitality of Alan and Cami. The bar/restaurant was quaint and had a great selection of beers and whiskies for us to indulge in. The food was well prepared and delicious. Breakfasts were also delicious and portions were more than ample. The village of Roybridge is extremely quiet and peaceful and the residents we interacted with were welcoming and fun to spend time with. The only downside was that the internet was spotty in our rooms, but that issue seemed to get better after we expressed concern to the management. I would highly recommend this lovely little inn for those who want a peaceful, scenic, and relaxing place to stay in the Ft. William area.

Great value stopover

A very friendly traditional family hotel with surprisingly good food and a well stocked bar with real ale. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean but the furnishings are a bit tired and the hotel rather lacked character. But after a long drive in the dark through the Highlands on a winter's night it was a great place to stop and a pleasure to receive such a welcome. We only needed an overnight stop as we headed further north, but it evidently makes a good starting point for exploring the area as the other guests were clearly walkers

I have stayed here once before. The rooms are good, excellent bathroom, nice view to the small lakes. Staff excellent, breakfast very good. The hotel has changed hands since last time, the evening meal was ok but not quite as good as last time but that may have been my selection.

Hotel room in Annex was really disapponting: shower leakage, dirty towel, broken toilet seat and thin walls, so we heared our neighbourgh TV at 3 am! But location is good, staff is friendly, continental breakfast is also very good.
