The room was lovely & clean etc and reception staff were very welcoming. We found the service in the restaurant terrible. My son ordered Rib Eye Steak at £33 but the waitress didn’t ask how he’d like that cooked, my husband had to stop her to say erhm can he have that medium rare please. My husband ordered the duck which came out well over. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks after our starters, but they didn’t arrive until after we had finished our meal. I think there was just wasn’t enough staff serving, it was as if the bar staff were taking the food orders which would explain why no one asked about how the steak etc was to be cooked.

The room was spotless the staff were courteous.

This hotel was an absolute surprise for what I what expecting.
The DoubleTree by Hilton in Borehamwood is a delight. Great Room. Excellent amenities. Layout of the hotel is really nice. Room layout was great. Big floor space and incredibly comfortable.

Huge TV, good channel options. Bed was very comfortable.

The parking is a great plus and there is ample parking available.

Nice Bar.

East swift Check-in.

Although they were running two events alongside hosting all the Valentines day celebrators, it did not in any way at any time feel like the number of guests was unmanaged.

THE BREAKFAST.

This is honestly, (and ive had a few continental breakfasts) the best hotel breakfast I have enjoyed in the UK or any country I've visited.
It was so fresh, the pastry items were extremely fresh.
There were so many options and all options were great.
Definitely doing breaki here again.

For a Saturday Valentines Day stay... we are utterly impressed.

I didnt get to do a review on this visit but i am sure I will return here to do so.

I enjoyed this hotel so much that I stayed here twice in one visit. The room and bathroom were always very clean. The bed was always crisply and neatly made up every night, and fresh towels replenished - and you don't even have to inform the front desk every morning by 9AM for such service! LoL Which I appreciated very much, as usually I'm either too late or forget :-D The only issue I can think of is that the hallways were a bit noisy and the door could have been a bit more soundproof. But rowdy guests are hardly the hotel's fault.

As we booked through Hotels.com, we were made to feel unwanted, like 2nd rate customers.
We celebrating my wife’s birthday, so took some wine with us to the room whilst getting ready, asked for some wine glasses to be brought up, the front desk wanted to charge us £6 just to have the glasses brought up.

We were only given one towel.

Water in the room was chargeable as we didn’t book through the Hilton Honors.

The whole thing felt like a money grab

The hvac in the room is basic air conditioning and radiators so was freezing when I arrived and then too hot when I adjusted the radiator.
Food was below par, dinner was bland and overpriced, breakfast was okay but bacon was a weird fibrous texture and tasted sweet but not of bacon and the continental meat and cheese had clearly been put out more than one day. The staff, the decor and the convenience were all excellent however.

Nice large comfortable modern room and nice shower (but why not more hooks to hang up towels, so many hotels are the same, I don't understand!)
We didn't need it but midday checkout is good as so many are earlier nowadays. I was going to mark down to 4 stars due to having to pay for their own parking which is really cheeky - but it was only £5 (so seems hardly worthwhile annoying people for that!)

~Down side was the noise from the main road it sounded as if there was a window open but there wasn’t so it did cause some sleep disturbances but overall apart from that very impressed for our first stay and would stay again but ask to be put in a room that is not facing the main road.

Hotel staff very polite and helpful also very friendly. Our room was very nice, comfortable and very clean. Also the food at the hotel is very nice and reasonably priced, breakfast was excellent and had plenty of choice to choose from. Ideal for getting into London if you don’t want to pay London prices for hotels. Stanmore station is a 10 minute Uber away which costs between £7 and £10. Parking is £5 a day and there are plenty of spaces available. Would I stay again most definitely.

Good location however rooms hot, air con broken hotel says they don't have air con but there are air con control panels in every room and giant air con venting units outside our window making noise all night. Shower is tiny, can barely move in it and my husband who is over 6ft couldn't stand up properly in it. Charge overnight guests for parking. Lift is broken.

Our room wasn’t ready on arrival and it seemed we were in a queue waiting for rooms to be ready. We was offered a free drink at the bar but then ended up buying another to waste time. After about an hour of waiting we got to our room which was clean and cool. Breakfast was good

Good choice.

I found the hotel to have a very new looking and modern decor. The room was very comfortable. My dinner was tasty and enjoyable. The morning coffee was nice however, the cooked items were over cooked- some were burnt infact. Saddly the hash browns were burnt and inedible... a real shame. The pastrys and fruits were fine and typical for this type of hotel chain. Over all, yes I will stay again and recommend this hotel.

Arrived at the property at 1300. The receptionist said she would check to see if my room was ready. It was not. However if I paid an additional £20 it would be ready. Not a great start. We sat in the bar waiting and no one came to tell us when it was ready. Then the room was like a sauna. Opened the windows and turned the radiator off but it was still really hot. Raised this with reception and they said that the air con was switched off across the whole hotel. We could have a fan! Awful stay with really unhelpful staff. I would have rated the staff and service as one star but when we eventually checked in the gentleman was very helpful and attentive.

No hot water for me or any of the other 5 peoples rooms i was with for 24hrs. Was told that \"it will work itself out\" and that they are sure it will get warm soon.. it didnt.

Never ever want to write negative things in reviews but no pumps working in the bar, cobwebs hanging off the chandelier, no hot water, missing food items at resturant.. it all added up to quite a miserable visit.

There was a youth football team staying at the hotel from Leeds United. They were creating huge amounts of noise through out the night of my stay - Slamming doors/shouting/running up and down the corridors. I probably got about 3 1/2 hours sleep all night. I would have given a 5 star review if it hadn't been for the noise.

Windows open and lovely local motorway traffic to listen too. Pick another hotel in Summer for one night stay in area.

Extremely hot room with no air conditioning and no ability to put the temperature down. Room came with one powerless small table fan which made no difference. Asked staff to come and check the room and they didn’t come. After we returned back to the hotel we asked if someone had checked the room they said no one had been. We asked them to come up and check again as we were tired and exhausted. No one came. Called reception 40 mins later and they said someone was on the way up hut no one came. Someone called us 15 mins later asking if we’re waiting to be attended. Later someone came an hour later and said that’s just how the rooms are. Provided one other small table fan. The shower water pressure was very low. Hardly any water was coming out. Overall a very uncomfortable stay so would not stay there again.

We were attending a wedding. The evening before I called the hotel to see if we could check in a bit earlier. We arrived at 2.10. Asked to check in. Yes, there will be a charge for early check in. I told her what I was told the night before. It's still the same charge. . I said we were there for the wedding which starts in 25 minutes and my husband needs to get changed. Eventually she agreed to waive the charge but told us we have to pay to park. I said we were guests of the wedding. Do all 200 guests have to pay? She shrugged her shoulders. (I don't think any guests of the hotel should have to pay to park. Its a private car park. Apparently cos we were staying and booked through a 3rd party we had to pay. What a rip off. We then went to our room which was lovely until we looked at the windows. Covered in mould. Disgusting. They shouldn't be letting a room out like that as mould is a health hazard. Advised to change room from suite where sofa bed not appropriate for kids to double room. Very honest input from Mohammed at check out. Gave lots of options.
Room had poor AC control though, room for some rea9 was really hot. Luckily had a fan in the room. Breakfast decent. Electric charging point x 1, short cable so had to adjust car. Uses bp pulse app. Extended check out at £10 per hour. I feel this should be free in non busy periods.

I cant recommend this hotel highly enough, at check in the very kind and helpful Mohammed upgraded our room at no extra cost as he saw that my 6ft3\" son was going to be uncomfortable on a sofa bed, the hotel its self was very clean and tidy and very tastfully decorated, a really nice touch having a gym also on site. the room was nice,clean and cosy, the bed was comfy too which is always a risk when booking hotels. We had the breakfast in the morning which catered for everyones tastes, from full english to pastries and cereal. We will definately be staying jere when we visit London again.A**

Hmmm. The pros were the reception, breakfast, good gym and the comfy beds. However the downside was the total lack of air conditioning throughout the building. Unable to open the windows more than a few inches it was very hot and at breakfast too. Had the misfortune of dining at Chaplins restaurant. Hugely understaffed, expensive and had to ask for a drink 3 times to different staff members. Ended up getting water from reception in the end

An odd building… but everything inside it is spot on. Pleasant helpful staff. Spotless rooms, well equipped with comfy bed and furniture, plenty of shampoo, shower gel etc. Breakfast all good with quality orange juice, good baking, perfectly poached eggs, strong coffee and even alternative non-dairy milk. Nothing fancy, but all just so.

Love this hotel!

We've stayed twice, only for the night to see family before travelling home. But we absolutely adore it it's our favourite hotel we stay in.
We love the large king bed, as after getting a super king at home a double feels too small.
It's always clean and we always wake up the next day feeling fresh after a good night's sleep.

This time that we stayed it was a bit chilly, even with heating. Would be nice if the AC did higher heats instead of just using the radiator which is placed by the cold window. The duvets are also more summer duvets so are on the thin side. However, we asked for a second duvet and after they looked and found one they brought it right up and we were warm the rest of the night.

Also not badly priced for a Hilton. It was even £118 for the king size room Christmas day.
