Beautiful room. Stunning building. I was in the Piccadilly room and it has lovely views and is a really comfortable room. Stairs to get to room are narrow and could be awkward if you are less mobile, so bear this in mind. Its a lovely hotel, and I am looking forward to staying again.

Just checked out after one night, my husband comes to Elstree once a month having used the Manor for almost 5-6 years. I have been on occasions, but sadly this time saw a drastic change in it.
Our standard double room was just that. Standard!
The bed was very small, pillows uncomfortable and room hot. The bathroom, although having a fancy Japanese style toilet, really, really needs gutting to say the least.
The grout is mucky, as is behind the sink, the shower sits over a bath with an old fashioned bath protector that is a grimey colour. Paintwork has come off the bottom of the bath panel all the way along, there's no bin, the cups are the cheapest form of squishy plastic (no glass cups), no flannels or box of tissues, and the whole room really does need renovating.
There are no waters in the room either.
The long annexe from room to restaurant/reception is freezing with no radiators on at all.
The dining area is now in need decoratin. If you sit by some windows you are very cold although the view is lovely - whilst sitting by a radiator you roast as they're on full, there doesn't seem to be a happy medium in temperature settings. Christmas lights are up - inside the restaurant area... but rather than a subdued setting, they're on a multi flashy setting which isn't very conducive to evening dining.
Our evening meal was very nice, but served on cold plates, breakfast good.
Sadly, came away with that, not sure if we'll go back feeling.

Pros: Helpful welcoming staff, good food, beautiful accommodation.
Cons: Not really suitable for anyone with mobility problems. No ground floor rooms in main building and no lifts. The are steps to every bedroom.

WiFi in the room was shocking. Trying to watch Netflix was a waste of time as kept buffering. Staff were lovely overall. I stayed 15 years ago when it was called the Edgewarebury and it hasn’t changed a bit. Breakfast great and restaurant good but not a lot of choice.

We had been looking forward to the trip for a special occasion and were travelling with our baby, but the conditions in the room made it very difficult to enjoy the stay or get proper rest.
On arrival, the room appeared noticeably outdated and did not resemble the images shown online. It was also excessively warm, around 26°C according to our own thermometer, and adjusting the thermostat had no effect. The temperature remained high throughout the night, which was extremely uncomfortable, especially with a young child.
There was also a strong smell of smoke in the room, seemingly coming from the hallway. This created an unpleasant environment and made the room feel unsuitable for a family stay.
As a result of these issues, we left after the first night instead of completing our planned two-night stay.
After leaving, we reviewed the photos online and realised how different they were from the room we were given. We also noticed other guests expressing similar dissatisfaction during check-out.
When we raised our concerns with the management team, the response was dismissive, which added to our disappointment.
Overall, we would advise future guests to take care when booking, as the online presentation did not reflect the reality of our experience.

Very disappointed. Entered the room and noticed multiple blood stains on the carpet and a dead bug squashed on the wall. Later found blood stains on the bed sheet too. Told the receptionist about it and they didn’t even apologise. Shower it terrible too. The grounds/area is nice though - I’ll give them that, the rest is poor and definitely not worth of 4*.

I booked 2 room, for myself and a colleague from Pakistan and I called a week before the stay to check if there was any Halal food available at the restaurant. I was informed that \"ALL the Chicken on the menu was Halal\", so reserved a table in the restaurant. On ordering the food, the waitress checked with the kitchen and we were informed that the Chicken was NOT in fact Halal.... This was most concerning.....
Overall, the room was in need of a make-over as it is looking tired and worn. The room temperature was very warm, so had to sleep with the window open, but this was noisy.

We arrived early and the woman who greeted us was friendly,there was a £10 an hour charge for early checkin so she brought us to the bar to get a cup of tea.We also had lunch there which was quite nice.We were going to a show that afternoon so were barely in our room before leaving again.We returned around 9pm to have a drink in the bar,waited a while to order&pay as staff were scarce,even on reception.Upon returning to our room my Mum noticed the door to our balcony not only didn't lock,but wouldn't even close properly.This not only felt unsafe as we were on the ground floor,but also uncomfortable as it was a windy night&it kept blowing open.We also noticed a large cluster of insects at the top of the curtain by the door.As it was late&we were in our pyjamas,there was no phone in the room to call reception&it was hard enough to find a staff member in the 1st place,i ended up pushing the couch against the door to keep it closed for the night.Upon checkout the next morning the man on reception didnt even ask how our stay was,I informed him of the issues&he thanked us for telling him but didnt offer any apology or compensation.Could otherwise be a nice hotel but we were disappointed by lack of attention to security and cleanliness and attitude of staff

We were really disappointed. We booked a suite for two nights, a treat as we were going to a Strictly recording. The room had curtains hanging off the poles, dead wasps on the window ledge, dirty windows, cobwebs, a lamp that didn’t work, no shower gel/shampoo (empty bottles) and no bathrobes (as described on the website). We mentioned these after the first night, apparently they can’t reach the curtain pole and don’t have bathrobes. We did get shower gel. The room was tired with a very old coffee machine, very little coffee provided, sofas with broken legs and an uncomfortable mattress. The hotel did not ask for feedback directly. We would not recommend.

lovely old Manor House set in gorgeous well kept grounds. Be aware there is no lift and a lot of stairs, not an issue for us. Room was quiet, clean, warm and comfortable. Never found the hairdryer but no big deal. We didn’t eat there so can comment on food and service in the restaurant.

Lovely Hotel - beautiful decore and views. We were disappointed to hear that the restaurant had a limited menu in the evening. This didn’t bother us initially - but when we arrived for dinner - the only choice was beef, chicken or veggie Burger. This isn’t ‘limited’ we seriously would have thought scampi or ham egg and chips or some sort of curry could have been offered as an alternative.
Jo did try her best to convince us that there would be a few things to choose from. She kindly offered to order us a pie from outside, but we really didn’t expect the menu to have no choice at all! We decided to go to a local pub which was recommended- not a pleaaant experience at all, the food was terrible! It did spoil our stay, Jo gave us a free breakfast but my husband was not well in the morning so we didn’t make it on time. it was a bit of a disaster for us to celebrate my retirement.

If you are looking for a hotel with history and character, in lovely grounds, then this is for you. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our beds were comfortable and the hotel is spotlessly clean. There is a pleasant bar and large dining areas. Breakfast was plentiful with a very good range of options. My only slight criticism would be that the breakfast room could benefit from re decorating.

Breakfast was good. Didn't get chance to have evening meal as I was back late. Bed ok if you like a soft mattress (my preference is firm). I was out most of the time at a local event so didn't really spend a great deal of time at the hotel, but I would happily stay again.

Staff were amazing. The room was clean with beautiful view. Loved the history of the property. The pastry chefs biscuits were AMAZING! We visited during a heatwave and the room was boiling, maybe a fan in each room would help for a better sleep. But we will definitely be staying again.

We only received the bucket when physically going downstairs and brought it up ourselves

We are in this area monthly but have not as yet found a hotel that fills our requirements. The Manor is in a \"tired\" condition in our opinion. The breakfast buffet was not filled up regularly enough, the scrambled eggs, sliced cheese had to be requested and the wait resulted in the toast becoming soft. The general experience was \"could do better\", like my school report. Value for money was reasonable, bar prices at the higher end for a mediocre pizza and drinks. The best part of our stay was the very warm and bubbly young lady, who served in the bar yesterday evening. I'd give her a job anyday.

Arguably the best UK hotel i have stayed in within the past 15 years and that’s saying something! From the old-world charm of individually named rooms to the polite and friendly staff and the quality of the food, my stay was top drawer! Even a couple of minor issues that I brought to the staff’s attention were handled quickly and professionally; I will definitely be back!

One of the worst hotel stays I've experienced. I requested a ground floor room near the lobby, expecting the ground floor to be on the reception level, but instead I was given a room about as far away from reception as possible down several flights of stairs from reception. I noticed the stained carpet at the entrance to the bathroom immediately, but I was too tired from a really long day, to make the trek all the way back to reception with heavy bags at such a late hour, so resolved to just avoid stepping onto the mouldy carpet with bare feet. The room smelt musty, and on investigation discovered the large stain near the radiator, which was largely concealed by a chair. The room felt dirty overall, including blood stain on the desk chair, dirty bathroom (I has to remove several hairs from the bathroom floor and bath myself). The bed was comfy, which was the only saving grace. In the morning I rang through to reception several times for assistance with getting my heavy bags back up the several flights of stairs to reception, but the phone rang out every time unanswered, so was left to struggle alone. breakfast was fine but expensive at £18 and the overall price for the room selected (£140) was extortionate for the quality. I reported to reception how disgusted I was with the room and questioned why the guy hadn't answered the phone (which he apparently didn't hear, despite sitting right next to it), but no apology or offer of anything.Will never stay there again.

I recently stayed at The Manor Elstree in Borehamwood, and it was such a lovely experience! The hotel is set in a stunning Edwardian country house with beautiful views of the Hertfordshire countryside. The whole place has a charming, peaceful vibe, perfect for a relaxing getaway.

The staff were wonderful, kind, and aprochable, the hotel itself is wonderful, though showing a few signs of age and a little wear and tear, but everything in our room worked, the bed was comfortable the food was out of this world! Overall our stay was a wonderful experience and we hope to return there again for our wedding anniversery.
