The room only has renovated the floor. Everything else is too old. And the bathroom is one of the oldest I've ever seen in a hotel at this price. It wasn't even clean. The shower gel bottle was empty and was never refilled during our stay. And the only thing in the sink was hair conditioner. Nobody checks that stuff? And when we checked in, they told us the room would be ready in 20 minutes, and they had us sitting on a couch waiting for an hour and a half. The best thing about the hotel is its location.

Always a pleasure

Stayed here many times over the years and always enjoy my visit.
Slightly disappointed with no fridge or kettle in the room but reception happily gave me a kettle they had as a spare 😂
24hour parking price is a little steep I thought but at least it’s secure.

Good Location. Friendly Welcome.

We were in Dortmund for a football match. We stayed in this Mercure the second nigh (the City one for the first night). This Mercure was far better than the City one - it actually has a normal type entrance and reception set up for a start. Not the cheapest hotel, but they obviously knew the football was on.
Welcome was friendly and room was fine.
Hair dryer was very week. Bath towels are not very big.

And the usual question - would i stay there again. The answer is Yes, but I'd check prices elsewhere.

The hotel was stylish and clean. Location was perfect only steps away from the shops and about 300m from U stop line that gets directly to Iduna Stadium.
The hotel staff was professional and helpful every time i needed something. Morning breakfast was quality and rich in choice.
Our 3 bed room was bright, clean and comfortable but the highlight was tge bed and tge bedding which was one of the best ever !

The only one thing i didnt like during my stay was the coffee from the machine at breakfast. It was shame that it was nescaffee rather than bean to coffee fresh brewd coffeemajer which is standard in hotels of that standards all round the world.

Overal our stay was great abd we woukd choose to stay agsin on our next visit to Dortmund.

Disappointing stay

I booked a room for a family of 3 pax. But when we checked in at 21:00 apparently the given room was for 2 pax only on the 5th floor where we had to carry our baggages by hand to 5th floor from the 4th floor where the end of lift /elevator. Although, the front office lady confirmed the given room was for 3 pax but it was not the case!!
When I reported the problem the same lady at front office changed the room and gave us instead a 3 pax small room where we had to carry our baggages again to 3rd floor!! There was no one to help us carry the baggages from to room although we asked for it!!!

We were very happy with our stay. We were able to gain access to the room to drop off our bags and get changed very early, which was great. The location was very central, which was particularly useful given it was only for one night. Our room was next to a water tank of some sort it seems, so it was loud at times, but not throughout the night. If we make the trip again, it is likely we will stay here.

Nice on the outside.

The hotel appeared to be quite nice, and our room (a suite) was very large. The a/c unit, however, was only in the living room and due to construction on our balcony, we could not open the windows. The room was stifling and we spent a sleepless night. Also, the room came with a large jacuzzi tub which would not fill due to a drain plug issue. The desk was somewhat apologetic for the issues, but more dismissive than anything else. It could be a great hotel....

Good location poor accommodation.

The rooms were a long way from the reception down in the lower levels. Luckily we only had one suitcase so I could manage. A couple with two bags would struggle. Three sets of doors some with key card only access plus three set of stairs. No help from staff at all.
Room was smelly and very high humidity. Asked for some one to check out the smell- no one available!
Asked for an ironing board and was told I had to collect it myself.

Breakfast was very expensive ad very poor quality. We came at the end of service and some foods were missing and rest were dried out.

Original room next to elevator. Requested move to another room, staff was very helpful. New room got rid of elevator noise but street noise significant.
Rooms were cold. Note on thermometer said only used for cooling, so no ability to heat room at all.

Good Hotel for football trip

Stayed here for a football trip. Its not the closest Mercure to BVB but its in the city centre near bars / restaurants and easy access to the stadium via u-bahn or 15 euros taxi and from the airport. Rooms and beds were comfortable, staff friendly and room was available at midday which was a bonus.

Good location.

This is the noisiest and coldest hotel I have ever stayed in, you can hear every vehicle, every piece of machinery, every person walking by, every door slam, every time the lift is used, every sink, bath or toilet that is emptied, every suitcase dragged or wheeled by, I have never had such a restless experience, at one point a car sounded it’s horn and I thought it was in the room !!!

The honest review

The receptionist was very friendly and very helpful.The cleaners cleaned the room but when we arrived the bathroom had bath towels and holes in it which I find it wrong.No towel should be used if there's holes in it and the 2nd day a hole but smaller. Apart from that I can't complain.

central location

We stayed for one night and the location was excellent to be able to walk to restaurants and bars etc. Thought 3pm check in was a bit late in the day however we asked if we could leave our bags and found that the room was ready at 12! Happy days!

Nice hotel and great city centre location

It was a lovely hotel and perfect for getting around Dortmund. The staff were helpful although I did have a couple of problems due to having two separate bookings (I extended my stay by one day) and although I emailed the hotel prior to my visit and being told they would combine into one booking this never happened (even after I asked on check in to make sure). The room was comfortable, although a bit dusty under the bed and when they changed the towels over we ended up with only one large towel and 3 small for 2 adults - so maybe a bit better attention to detail. It would also have been nice to have been made aware before that there would be heavy diggers working early in the morning

Great hotel in city centre. BVB very accessible.

Staff were very friendly and the check-in and check-out process was very quick and easy (they speak great English). We booked 2 double rooms as they were 4 of us, and they were kind enough to give us 2 rooms that could be joined together through a door within the rooms.

We explored the city centre which was just a minutes walk away from the hotel. After, we went to Signal Iduna Park, roughly a 5 minute journey by Taxi. The food, drinks, programmes etc. were very cheap outside the stadium, the people were very welcoming, and the match itself was great (3-2 victory vs Hoffenheim). It was so loud in the stadium that my ears were ringing after, the atmosphere there is something the Premier League fails to offer. Best matchday experience I have ever had, and the hotel + hospitality of the Dortmund people made it a great trip.

Superb experience

Very conveniently located and easy to find with your car, this hotel offers a superb quality - price ratio with professional and extremely helpful front desk staff and very spacious and pleasant amenities.
Had booked an executive room for a night, after a long car trip from London, part in snowy conditions hence the journey got me tired. Jacuzzi in the room was awesome, the Christmas market nearby got me a nice hot wine and some local pizzeria a very nice meal.
A very enjoyable experience altogether!

We stayed whilst visiting the Christmas Market. The hotel is ideally located as a base. In fact perfect. It was welcoming and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating and our family room was all you need, clean, warm and comfortable and much nicer than we expected. Would highly recommend.

Excellent location but disappointed not to be able to make tea in our room. Coffee maker supplied but no kettle or pods for tea available.

Logging into the free internet was not user friendly so charged me 34 Euros for 48 hours use.

Great friendly staff, lovely rooms and facilities and all clean and tidy.

However, I was the poor sod that ended up in a room next to the elevator shaft and it disrupted my sleep heavily both nights ... All through the night.

So if you don't get these rooms, youre laughing!

Low rent, far less than stellar hotel who do everything to add on costs for little service. Want breakfast that free at other hotels?? Pay 18 euro. Want dependable WiFi that's free at other hotels?? Pay 18 Euro. This place is a mess but wants to think its classy, but its not. On top of everything else, it's a non-smoking hotel, but someone forgot to clean the rooms well enough to get the stale stench of old smoke out.

Awful stay, and I will never stay at another Mecure Hotel ever again... not at any price.

Great hotel

Best stay in Germany by far!

I'll keep it short and sweet:

Staff: very friendly and helpful.
Location: everything is all walking distance so it saves you money on cab and local transport fairs.
Room: comfortable and cosy

Great central location

Just a short stroll from the shopping area and its many bars and restaurants the Mercure Centrum is the perfect choice for a city break.

Limited parking but valet parking to a local car park is available. Clean good sized rooms with comfy beds and bathrooms. A great city hotel.

Very Good Location

We stayed here for the night of a football game. The hotel was very near the centre and the restaurants and bars. It was close enough to the metro to get to the game and back in very little time. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. There is a nice bar open to a reasonable hour.

4* Hotel but 0* service

Booked this in march for 3 x twin rooms for 6 men, got 3 double rooms instead even though I called the day before we travelled and was assured the request would be fulfilled, one room was so small it could only be a single occupancy room, it came with only 1 x half sized duvet, 1 x set of pillows and 1 x set of toiletries which was a dead give away. It took almost an hour to sort out, was offered a cotton sheet as an alternative to the other half sized duvet, is that a 4* solution?

When I asked why we got doubles instead of the twins we'd booked the completely apathetic womans answer on reception was \"we're full\", 4* customer relations?

It's blatantly obvious they allocated rooms on arrival rather than when they were booked, so those who booked later than I did when only doubles were available obviously were allocated our twin rooms. 4* in no way, shape or form.

I won't be back.

Pointless booking this hotel if you are looking for a particular type of room. I booked a double room and a twin room(2 men sharing). We got 2 double rooms and we were not the only ones. We were promised an extra bed on the first night and we are still waiting. Our coffee machine was broken and we asked for a replacment.... Still waiting for that also... Very poor customer service- I won't use this hotel again.

In the Media Harbour district

I don't think you will find a better hotel in the Media Harbour area for your money, the staff are excellent and very friendly. The rooms are modern, spacious and clean.

Well done, we will return at some stage.

This hotel was in a central location in Dortmund, close to restaurants and sites. Everything was nice and clean. Our only issue was that we had to pay an additional rate for in-room Wi-Fi, even though the website stated that the rooms we chose included free wireless Internet.

Perfect for the Christmas Market

Lovely hotel located in the heart of Dortmund, great for all our Christmas Market needs, stayed three days. Only down side is the lack of Tea/Coffee facilities in the rooms, which should be standard in a 4 star hotel of this nature. Fantastic breakfast selection each day, cooked and continental available. All staff even the cleaners were very courteous, and helped us with our limited German, being English. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

First trip to Germany

Having only ever travelled abroad to Lapland I was worried about booking hotels using the Internet and not through a travel agent. The Park Inn is simply a great hotel to stay in. The wife, son and myself had fantastic food and sound sleep. The beds were extremely comfortable, rooms really clean and in the humidity the rooms were lovely and cool. The hotel itself is decorated to a high standard and the service you get from staff is first rate. The transport links nearby are really useful and convienent. We will certainly stay there when we travel to Dortmund in the future. FIRST RATE.

The park inn hotel Dortmund

The website for this hotel said we could check in from 14:00 we arrived at 14:15 and was told we could not check in until after 15:00 so had to wait around. The hotel said there was hotel parking, we pulled up to the front of the hotel were there was a. Sign saying valet parking available hand your keys into reception when we enquired about this we were told to hand the keys and we would be charged per night and asked when we would like the car back. Our car never moved the entire 2 days we were there it remained parked at the front doors of the hotel. The website also states wifi but it does not state that you have to pay for it. The staff were friendly and welcoming but I would never return back there.

This hotel is great! Central Location is great!

Stayed at this hotel for two nights, the hotel staff are very welcoming, the bar staff are also very welcoming and the decor is really nice. The room we stayed in was really clean and well kept, the bed and bedding was so warm and comfy, didnt want to leave the room it was so nice. The hotel itself is literally in the middle of everything and thee is taxi's all around, its a perfect location, couldnt ask for a better location. Loved this hotel and would love to go again. Only thing we didnt try was the food. Definatly worth a stay! Christmas markets are great too!

Ideal standard hotel for Christmas markets and shopping

Fab location, just got back from the Christmas markets, hotel was really central, and only 25euros taxi from dortmund airport, didn't matter that breakfast wasn't included, as loads of cafes / Starbucks within 2 mins- and if you want you can pay for the hotel buffet.

Rooms were well equipped, very comfortable, and clean. Reception was also really helpful and able to hold bags behind the desk if flying out later but check out was 12.

Only thing I'd comment ... Brits abroad! There was no tea / coffee facilities in the room, and didn't have any English tv channels! But with lots to do didn't really bother us.

One thing we were lucky about but if travelling there again I'd bear in mind is that shops are usually closed Sunday- but were open I guess because of Christmas, and the markets!

The shopping mall is also really worth a visit, spread over about 5 floors with all you could ever need!

Weekend stay

Just got back from Park Inn. Had a lovely weekend the hotel was very central and close to the Christmas Market. The staff were lovely, the room was quite small but OK for the weekend. Strange setup with the duvet, a very comfortable double bed and 2 single duvets one thick and one thin.
We did not eat breakfast as it was so expensive, but had dinner which was a buffet it was a very tasty, lots of choice.
We needed an extra suitcase for the lovely Christmas presents we brought home with us.

The Park Inn Hotel, Dortmund

The staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very centrally located. Only a short walk to the main shopping district and about a ten minute walk to the train station.
The buffet breakfast was excellent and I enjoyed evening meals in the hotel restaurant

Excellent location, near to everything

Hotel was basically an old Holiday Inn but nothing wrong with it, not sure if it was 4 star mind but it did the job. The location was just amazing honestly just around the corner from the shopping area and a Starbucks for breakfast as we didnt breakfast at the hotel. We were there for festivals and there were quite a few in the square which was great. Would stay again.

This hotel was fantastic in all ways. The room was lovely, clean and spacious and the bathroom was spotless and very modern.
My boyfriend and I went to Dortmund during the Christmas market and the location of the hotel was ideal, only a two minute walk away but not affected by the crowds or any noise.
The hotel facilities were a real surprise. The sauna and whirlpool were fantastic, one day we had them to ourselves, it was a lovely relaxing experience. The hotel bar was friendly and inviting, and beautifully decorated for Christmas.
We didn't use the restaurant but it looked and smelled delicious.
I would definately go back to this hotel and would recommend it to any other travellers.

Excellent Hotel

The hotel was in a great location for the city centre and all transport links around and out of the city. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint I have is that some of the other people staying in the hotel were a bit noisy!

Das Hotel ist Gut, Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Das Stadtzentrum ist in 2min erreicht. Zum Signal Iduna Park läuft man so ca. 40 min. Fühlt sich aber kürzer an. Wenn man ein paar Tage bleibt parkt man am besten in der benachbarten Tiefgarage. Ist günstiger, überdacht und in der Nacht abgeschlossen
