close to the station

This hotel is really close to the main train station. However all around there were lots of drunkards and beggars that made our short walk very unpleasant.
The room is the standard A&O room, which we like for 1-2 night stay. The walls were a bit dirty and the big mirror in the room was broken and just put on the table ( we took a pic and showed to the reception).
The toilette was clean.

We stayed in the 'hotel' part of the accommodation. Ours was a room with two single beds, plus a pair of bunk beds. It wasn't the biggest room in the world, but it was more than adequate. A good ensuite with an excellent shower.

The location of the hotel/hostel is excellent, just five minutes from the main station. The common areas are all well kept and the bar prices were very reasonable.

In case you are driving it is worth noting that there is no parking available on site. We parked in a multi-storey which was about five minutes walk away.

In cheaper places in an excellent location you usually get more or less what you pay for. The A&O, however, punches above its weight. Not only is the location excellent, right around the corner of Dortmund Central Station, AND it is pretty quiet, the personnel is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable; but the property is also clean, my room was really big, the amenities are modern and well maintained, there is a spacious lobby, a safe and well-organized luggage room - it's just overall great value for the price!

Comfortable rooms in central Dortmund

We spent one night with our dog at the hostel. The staff was friendly and they gave us a big room so we could be more comfortable with the dog. The room was newly renovated and clean. There are a lo of of near by restaurants. Overall we had a good stay.

The Hotel was fine. It is central and near to the HBF. The staff were all very friendly and able to assist. Breakfast was value for money and the bar inexpensive. We got exactly what we expected.

Its the worst hotel I have ever been I advice every one don't waste your money not clean room are smiley no parking , you have to pay for dog , even if you have small dog , you have to pay for breakfast even not a good breakfast , room in local busy area very noisy I couldn't sleep , room very hot no ear-condition .

Small but very clean rooms, excellent location

We (a family of four) booked one of the family rooms at A&O. The room itself was rather cramped - the double bed was pushed right up against the bunk bed, and there was little space to put our bags. But it was a fairly modern room, and very clean. The hostel is perfectly located in the city centre. It was a 5 minute walk from the central station, a similar walk to the underground, and close to the Christmas market, shopping complex, and many restaurants. The lobby area in the hostel was nice and a good place to read and relax (since there wasn't really any space in the room itself to do this).

Overall excellent value for very good price

Location is great for getting around the city. Everywhere seemed to be within walking distance. Very close to transport links if you need to go further afield. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a bit cramped but very clean. 24hr bar was excellent - never many people in there so could always get served quickly.

Good stay at A&O

The Hostel is in a great location, close to the Train Station and the city center. From the Train Station you can take public transportation to basically anywhere in the city. The staff was friendly and there were no problems at check-in/check-out.
Because it was so close to the train station, there was some noise (day and night) and in the morning there were some repairs going on. Other than that, everything was good.

Best place to stay in Dortmund

I always stay here and always will, when I head to Dortmund to watch BVB.
It is by far the best hostel I've stayed at, with a clean modern reception with a bar and games area. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
The location is excellent, only 200m from the main train station. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Can't rate it highly enough.

OK one night stay at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof Hostel

There are hotel and hostel at the same building.
The price is relatively low.
Good location: close to city centre and Central Railway Station.
Free lock-room for bags (to leave bags after check-out).
Bed lienen is for extra charge.
Sound-proof can be improved: could hear cars honking at midnight (celebrating German national team won World Cup game)

They try to get more money then booking

This was a disaster at the beginning. They did not found our booking. Then they charged us 50 euro more per night, because there was no booking.

After some hours of discussing they said they would reimburse the difference.

Zuper for a football weekender

Myself and three friends stayed here to watch Dortmund play Hoffenheim. More of a hotel than a hostel but everything was very satisfactory. Great value for money, great location, good atmosphere, only real downside was the service at the bar - there was only one or two people serving at a time so when it got busy there was a bit of a wait for a drink! Other than that it was great, would definitely stay here again.

Everything you need from a hostel!

This hostel is ideally placed for visiting Dortmund or staying near the main train station. The reception staff are efficient and informative and the check in is quick. Be aware that if you don't travel with a sleeping bag, you will have to rent a bedding pack for 2 euro. Towels are the same. The room we stayed in was a typically basic hostel room, had six (bunk) beds, a toilet room and a shower room. there are six small cupboards which can be locked if you have a padlock. Breakfast consists of cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs, bread and cereals as well as tea/coffee and fruit juice. The bar area is comfortable with games area, kids area and tv. The hostel is very convenient for the train station and the city centre! I would recommend this hostel to anyone on a budget as an ideal place to stay in Dortmund!!

Stayed only for the night, as I had to leave early to the airport. The hostel is 2 minutes walking from the train station and the airport express. It was very clean, confortable and the staff was nice. It had soap for the guests, but you have to bring your own towels and sheets (or pay for them). The bathroom+shower are inside the room, so it can be a bit noisy. And aparently, people can check in and go back to the room any time during the night. I went to bed around midnight, and around 2am, 3 new people came into the room. They were quiet, but still woke me up... Anyway, I would say it was a great price for the stay!

Perfect for a weekend in Dortmund watching footbal

The Hostel was in an ideal location only a minutes walk from the Bus and Train terminal where transport from the airport drops off and picks up. Staff were very helpful from check in and spoke excellent English, very helpful with my rubbish German! The room was spacious, and comfortable with a nice en suite shower. The only downside was a lack of TV and no cups/glasses. The hotel bar had good value drinks and a pool table, however some new pool balls/cues would be nice. Location was great for bars and clubs nearby and the staff were good at recommending bars based on budget and musical taste. All in all an excellent weekend and will definitely stay here again the next time we visit for what was a great football weekend!

One thing i want to tell u that at this hotel,every sweeper has a pass(door key) and when she wants,she knocked and quickely entered..so it is not suitable,because privacy is so much distrubed by just knocking and then entered in room.so it should not be allowed .overall is good.

Excellent conditions for a really low cost hotel!!!

Very clean room.
In the center of Dortmund (only 2 minutes from the center and 5 minutes from central railway station - walking).
Staff always trying to help us.
Excellent breakfast for only 4 euros.
I have closed a twin room. Due to many bookings, they gave me a 6-person room, but not in common with other people. I haven't any problem with that.

Good Value, Good Position

The A & O is 250 metres from the Hauptbahnhof (Railway Station). The reception was busy but we we're booked in quickly. The room was basic with ensuite, functional & clean. The Alte Market was 200 metres away for drinking & eating out. Breakfast was basic continental style but good. I would use A & O again.

Grundlæggende fint hotel/hostel, badeværelset var meget småt. Vi havde booket 6. Personers værelse, og var tilfredse med størrelsen og kvaliteten på sengene. Dog kunne værelset godt trænge til lidt service, blandt andet mangler see håndtag på skabene, lys i en lampe, usbladere der ikke virker, eller er ved at falde af væggen.
Morgenmaden er ikke kontinental men den er godkendt.
Personalet var høfligt og hjælpsomme, blandt andet til at finde et p-hus vi kunne benytte.

Nice location in centre of Dortmund. Nice lounge and terrace. Breakfast is simple but sufficient if you stay a few days. Rooms are a bit tight but very clean. The beds are really comfortable. Perfect place for a city trip of 2-3 nights.
