We enjoyed the stay. A fabulous location and free car parking. It’s a shame the bathroom is quite old as everything else is good. Pizza in the country club is good. Staff are excellent. We would definitely stay again.

Reception and the check in process was very unorganised and chaotic in the reception area. There was nowhere to know where to wait or who was available to help.
The room had a bit of a strange smell, a bit like mold. The room and bathroom was very dated and furniture/ decor mismatched. The best part of our room was the view of the beach from our room.

Nice to have a fan available for the bedroom as there wasn’t an air conditioner (or tv) in there.
Bathroom/shower recess was a little moldy/dirty.
Fridge frosted up and not closing properly.
Staff were very helpful.
Great location, some of the surrounds lacking maintenance/cleaning. Gardens old and unkept. Stairwells/passageways needing cleaning/maintenance.
Gave off a tired feel.

The kitchenette area had cobwebs in the corners and the floor was sticky. The bathroom had no exhaust fan so the walls were damp and you couldn't use the mirror after a shower. I recommend a pest spray as we killed 3 spiders in the room. One was actually in our bed. I was also really disappointed to be charged additional fees for bedding for the sofa and we didn't even get given a pillow with the bedding we had to pay extra for. I had a booked a room to sleep 3. Upon check in I was told \"Expedia\" is third party booking and doesn't specify the extra charge for bedding. For the price I paid I expected a bit more high end and accomodating.

The room while big was quite dark.

The shower was full of sand from the previous guests I imagine (I have photos of this for reference if needed).

The ceiling fan needs repairing and it has a constant clicking noise and the air conditioner controls batteries were flat which required me to climb on a chair to operate.

Over priced for what you get. Room standard was very average and only worth half of what they are charging. No linen changes or any service in 3 nights of stay (it's in the fine print that they only do one service for stays longer than 8 days). Mixer taps in the bathroom and shower need replacing. Either boiling hot or freezing and hard to get a balance in between. No vent fan in the bathroom and unable to open the window or doors for ventilation due to mosquitos being everywhere outside. The garden outside is overgrown and a mosquito paradise. Beautiful area right on the beach. Parking was convenient but all the restaurants around the resort are also over priced and average quality food. Give the Mod Thai a miss as food was awful. Best place to eat was Wests Diggers 5 minutes down the road.

Our room was spotless with the most beautiful view of the Bay and Beach from our huge deck. Loved the massive flood-lit trees at nite on the walkway. Wonderful Massage too. So close to great restaurants and super breakfast place right next door. Highly recommend the Ramada Wyndham at Shoal Bay!

There were three of us, apartment sleeps 4 but only 2 bath towels I tried ringing reception several times , no answer, so had to go down and ask for more. no sorry or explanation as to why they didn’t answer phone. Excellent place to stay, only down side was our room was next to the club / restaurant that is part of the hotel! It stays open to 2am so it can get pretty noisy with music and people. Next time I think will ask for a quieter side of the resort! Apart from that was excellent! Food and service amazing!

Perfect for a short break

We had a three-day winter break at Shoal Bay, staying in a water view apartment with balcony.
Access to parking and the apartment was simple, it was perfectly clean and contained all the amenities we might need.
A small quibble - we would have preferred a thicker blanket on the bed, although the air conditioning kept the room perfectly warm.
Also, there is not a lot of distance between the balconies, so a private conversation might be difficult when all are occupied, and especially in the warmer months.
Overall, though, we had a perfect short break.

Weekend away for a coastal hike

The resort complex and bar is very good for a weekend away. Free off-street parking is very handy. Young check in staff are friendly and helpful.
My room was at a discount rate so I was happy with what I got. Bed was comfortable. Living area had basic provisions. Bathroom was a bit dated but functional

It was located in the heart of Shoal Bay. We stayed in a 1 bedroom waterfront apartment. It was clean but the kitchen was slightly dated but clean . They had excellent customer service becaue we had 2 maintenance issues which turned out not to be. But maintenance was up within a few minutes.

My only slightly negative comments were around the check-in. There were 2 separate desks that we interacted with. One seemed to be about whether we were Wyndham Club members, which is like a time share. She asked if we were interested in hearing about it and would get a $100 just for attending. Any activities we wanted to do such as SUP, kayaking, etc. we had to me Wyndham Club members. No high pressure tactics; just didn't expect it. Then we were referred to the 2nd desk who had all our details. No problems. It was just confusing.

Remodelling is happening next door which makes some noise during the day. Not sure how long this is going to occur so if you're thinking of staying there, you might ask about this isse when you make your reservation.

I would recommend staying there.

I spilt some nail polish on the floor at 3:15 approximately on Monday and I immediately reported it to reception. No one came before I left for an appointment at 4:10pm that day. Next morning I rang reception as the iron wasn’t working at around 7:45am and asked for a working iron and again reported about the nail polish on the floor. Around 9am I again rang reception regarding the iron as well as the nail polish that I had spilt on the floor on Monday!
Eventually I had to get dressed - without being able to iron my outfit as no one had bought the iron to my room. As well they had not come to check out the nail polish spill !
When I checked out, I returned my “keys” to reception and mentioned that no replacement iron was delivered to my room and no one had been to look at the nail polish spill. I was given an apology regarding the iron and informed someone had been to the room and tried to remove the nail polish, without success, as the polish was dry by that time. The receptionist also told me that Romada had a carpet cleaner and would use that and there would be no additional costs
It’s disappointing that I had to call reception numerous occasions regarding thes issues
