The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 was that the TV channels were very slow and at time had no reception at all.

The unit was large we had the pent house it is quite dated , the couch was grotty , the oven dirty and hot plate bathrooms were fine , the staff were lovely at least the ones I interacted with, the pool was great, clean and great for families , we stayed for 6 nights so we didn’t get the unit cleaned you have to stay for seven which is fine but they should have a mop so we are able to clean and mop the floor at least as we were a family of 6 otherwise great for young families

Our stay at the Mantra Aqua in Nelson Bay felt like an absolute scam.We had booked two nights in a superior resort view room and what we got was a neglected,dirty,grimy and mouldy appartment that overlooked a construction site. We were shocked that this apartment is even rented out as it had so much wrong with it. To top it off,our balcony sat right over the communal smoko corner for staff and residents so none of the ‘we are a smoke free complex’…unbelievable.
When approached about the state of the apartment,staff responded that ‘the photos on our website are only indicative and perhaps next time we should not book with Wotif,but with them directly so they can give us a room that is more to our taste’,go figure…We are absolutely appalled by what happened to us-please read this before you book as we are sure this is a known issue with resort staff.

Fantastic location easy walk to everything with undercover parking. Great clean apartment, though looking a little tired, could do with minor upgrades. Comfortable bed. We had a pool view balcony, it’s worth consider special request if you prefer morning or afternoon sun on your balcony. Only downside was being top floor the balcony had no roof & no shade in daytime.

I had previously stayed here with my wife & 1 year old, we returned 2 years later with my elderly parents and newborn & honestly wouldn’t stay again. I considered booking the easier accessible shoal bay Ramada hotel, but when I looked at booking on their website it mentioned “be advised some local construction taking place”. As such booked Mantra.
When we arrived, the entrance is closed as there’s construction vehicles across the entrance dropping off bits to the construction site, the mantra hotel sits within the shadow of.
Not only that, but 1/3 of the swimming pool is closed for construction, leaving the entry ramp for my elderly parents & pram for newborn closed, leaving pool inaccessible for them. Nothing had been mentioned upon booking. Also our neighbouring apartment, which must be an owner-resident felt the need to shout at my now 3 year old whilst walking down to the swimming pool as they were “too loud and disturbing their afternoon nap”. Not family friendly in the slightest. Extremely disappointed for me parents once in 3 years trip to Australia.

Pool looks huge in the pics, it isnt and for us, full of kids. Property is very tired and not properly cleaned or maintained. Toilets seats dont fit; 2 rolls of toilet paper provided super thin; fridge light doesn't work; no air in master bedroom, just one small window locked so you cant full open; no aircon in the bedrooms. Because there's no airflow through the 2 bedrooms they were dusty for us, wont be like this for everyone, just those sensitive to dust. Balcony is tiny with a small table and only 3 seats lol. Check in is after 3pm (quite late), we arrived 2:50pm and told the room not ready. The leather lounge is comfortable and theres a big TV (we connect our apple TV) but internet (Optus) is very poor. Very handy to walk a few blocks down to the shops and waterfront. NERO's ice cream is a must visit. Two large building sites between the Mantra and the water view. We were on level 2 which is really level 3, we did have a small view, not sure about lower levels. Disappointing, booked and paid for 5 nights but left after 3.

We, specifically, chose an apartment that wasn't a Pool View but we got one anyway We are old. The first day we were at the Mantra the noise from the screaming children was unbearable. Didn't cease till 9:15 pm (curfew was 9:00 pm).

Booked a Pool View room, but was allocated a room in the further most corner of the resort. You could see the pool in the distance so technically a \"pool view\" however this drew a very long bow considering the picture provided by WOTIF indicated an adjacent building \"overlooking the pool. I get that WOITF does not allocate the rooms, howver dont get me to pay more for less. Better communication between booking agent & venue required as customer certainly feel betrayed. Would be hisitant again using WOTIF at this resort.

I found a couple of things that were a downer for me. The lounge was way too soft that I had trouble getting off it. I needed to move the single chair closer to help. Also getting in and out of the shower was a problem. The bath was higher than the floor which could be dangerous. I put this same review for them so hopefully they will fix this problem. I don't recommend this property because of these 2 issues. Especially if you are a large person which I am.

There was no problem with the property. I would say it was great value for money. I would love to just see them put some money into it and update the apartments. It was very outdated. Carpet everywhere. I was very worried about the kids eating at the dinner table due to there being carpet under it. I went with a 4 year old. 2.5 year old and a 9 month old.
